I dunno about where you are, but halloween events happen all throughout october in my city. There are costume nights at local pubs and stuff, malls and theme parks have promotions and such, there are ghost tours all over town where a guide will talk about all of the grousome stuff in history that happened around the areas, scarehouses and such that encourage you to wear costumes, and we've got an annual zombie walk event downtown that's so big the city shuts down a few streets so it's safe for the crowds.

Halloween is on a tuesday this year. Most people can't party on a school or work night, so most stuff will likely be happening the weekend before. That isn't strange or unusual. Like with Christmas, a majority of people swap gifts on the 25th but its not unusual to get and open gifts before then.

Also I work at a place where I can be in costume and I am hosting a Halloween event.

Group costume with the boys, plans still up in the air.

The big divide is in the costume decision. One side wants to do nameless costumes (ie. green army men), while the other side (my side) wants to do named costumes (ie. characters from a show with distinct personalities and quirks)

It's rapidly devolving into having multiple smaller groups, though.

Hey, can you give someone with a similar plan a idea on how you plan to produce this?
I posted my plans on this thread too ( >>9650818 ) .
And I was thinking, since it's a skull and it doesn't have to be solid from the inside (obviously).
Would that still be too heavy? Else I'll get some silicon for making molds and then using resin or something, does that sound like a better option for me?
The main problem would be getting the silicon for the molding, and I might miss my deadline if I need to wait for that to arrive.

The other videos of his process should be in the recommended side, but if you don't see them just head over to his channel.

Unless you have super lightweight clay, it's going to be heavy and any clay is fragile. I definitely recommend doing the silicon stuff. And that way, you can make a lot more and even sell copies of it if you want! I plan to sell copies of mine since it is a bit of money and time to make a mask.

Last year I dressed up as a vampire to pass out candy at home. Thought I would reuse the fangs but go all-in with my makeup for the office. Have a really nice black dress to wear with it. The only thing is I have no idea how to style my waist-length wavy hair.

Long opera length gloves or long sleeves if you want to wear the fingerless gloves here. Otherwise, you can stick with short sleeves and wear gothic statement rings and paint your nails.

Solid black tights are fine. I think you're better off showcasing your headdress and print instead of overwhelming yourself with ott all over.

My sister and I always do something together for Halloween. This year we're going as emperor palpatine and Yoda. I already bought the cloaks so we'll be nice and warm that day. If you live in Toronto or close to it, the Village (on Church from Wellesley down to Queen) has a really lively Halloween scene. It's where all ur gay bars and drag scene is, so the street gets blocked off and everyone walks around in costume. There's lots of food vendors too. Even on workdays it's really busy, so I would recommend for anyone whose nearby.
Last year was great except
>we went as bananas in pajamas
>guy clearly tripping on something sees us and grabs the top of our banana heads excitedly
>shakes vigorously™
>we were starting to freak out and yelling for him to stop
>his equally fucked up gf starts screaming at him to stop. He releases the bananas
>banana shake

I made those heads out of craft foam, they were a little wrinkled but omg I expected them to fall apart after that.

Thinking about doing one of the outfits from Twice’s TT video. Dahyun’s bunny costume would be cute but I really don’t want to overheat. Probably going to go with Nayeon’s devil costume.
>>9652388
I would say Ben Nye clown white face paint is your friend. Homestuck cosplayers have tutorials everywhere on how to apply and seal it. No idea about the hair...if you don’t want a wig and are ok with having to wash your hair repeatedly use colored hair spray. If you get a wig from Party City or whatever you can do a wash of it in fabric softener and it should reduce the shine.

if you're crunched for time, you can make a pretty solid and lightweight mask out of foam, papier mache and gesso.
it takes some effort and time to properly layer and sand the gesso, but depending where you live it may be faster than waiting for molding supplies to ship to you.

the only major downside is you wouldn't be able to easily make replicas as another anon suggested

Also interested in suggestions for good makeup and face paints for more theatrical full-faced looks.

I've struggled with acne most of my life, and have only just been getting it under control within the past ~2 years, so if there's a particular brand that isn't as high-risk as others, that'd be ideal. I'd like to not /completely/ shit on all of the progress my skin has made in the past few years, however I do understand that risk is never fully unavoidable when you're talking full-face makeup/paint.

Assuming anything you could just grab at Spirit Halloween wouldn't fit that criteria, otherwise I'd already have done that lol.

Snazaroo, Wolfe FX/Diamond FX/Tag/Global, Mehron (their clown white), Ben Nye's creme make-up, Kryolan. Most of these can be applied with sponges or brushes. Creme based paints are set with powder, water based paints are set with setting spray and powder. Try not to touch your face while you're painted, it will last longer. Practice before the night before Halloween.

Do you want Heath Ledger Joker, comics joker? If you're doing a more Dark Knight Joker, then its the one time I think spray on hair stuff can work.

Cat girl maid. No one will get it, but I will enjoy wearing it. It won't be anything fancy, the dress is a bit subtle as far as maid outfits go. Black with minimal white lace on the edges. I'll put the apron together myself, add some frill to some ears, and then I'll have some white over the knee socks with a small black bow on each. And then get hammered in it.

This is not remotely enough hair. Get a good wig, you can’t put that much headdress on top of two plain (and honestly, REALLY thin, look into Misako’s techniques) braids. From the looks of it a wig is gonna be less work for you than turning that hair into something big enough.

Agreed that the gloves are weird. Too much bare expanse of arm. Treat arms in lolita like absolute territory.

There's supposed to be a Halloween party at a mutual friend of my bf and I. I decided to put together an okayish Mabel costume (going to do the shooting star on the sweater and the skirt this week). I figured it'd be a nice, comfortable thing to go as. I wish I could get my bf to do Dipper, but he isn't the type of person to dress up in costume.

Debating on whether or not to bring Journal 3. It would be a nice touch to the costume, but I also don't want it to get must up by drunk people being drunk.

I plan on going as a bunny, but I am a dude, so I will be a male bunny.

I just need some new tights. There are a number of stores in Ontario that sell tights, but the trick is getting the right size. There's 2 reps who usually help me, and I am very partial to the 'peavy' brand.

I guess the costume is the same as a female except for short hair and no bra cups. My tailor needs to make an adjustment on one of my bespoke bunny suits because I gained 5 lbs from last year, but that is why I had adjustable seams put in.

Question: long gloves or no? It may be chilly but I don't want to get them dirty and gloves may ruin the look.

I'm in the opposite case. I'm going as Officer K from the new Blade Runner and have nothing but the coat (it's dark brown and kinda corduroy instead of black pleather but looks the same otherwise, figure it's close enough. Same length, same inner fur lining and general shape).

Should be simple enough to get the rest though. Long-sleeve black knit shirt and dark brown pants are easy enough to find. Just going to wear some black work shoes instead of getting a pair of boots, they look close enough to what he wears anyways. Ordered a toy gun that looks vaguely like the BR blasters. Gonna grab some fake blood to slap on my forehead around the same spot wear he gets repeated injuries throughout the movie.

The one thing I'm having the most trouble with finding is a black fake-leather gun holster like the one he wears. Figured it'd be easy enough to find online or at a halloween store, but all the ones I'm coming across are either super-expensive because they're actual gun holsters, only come as part of a full "set" which I don't want/need, or (based on customer reviews) are too small for adults to wear despite being "one-size fits all" and having grown men wearing them in the catalogue images.

Anyone know where I could order one for like $10ish? Everything I'm finding is like $30 which is more than I'm willing to spend on the piece of the costume which will only be seen if/when I take the coat off. This is the one I was looking at, but all the reviews pretty much say it's a no-go:

>> No.9666625

>>9666602
Scarecrow's fangs worked really well for me last year, even though I have extremely closely spaced teeth. Natural coloring, easy application. Takes awhile to fit them properly but if you do it right you'll only have to do it once and then you'll have em forever.

>> No.9666650

I've been looking at those. I'm trying to do an economical couple's costume. Do you mind answering a couple questions:

1. Could I set them up in 40-60 minutes? I'm meticulous about directions. My S/O works late, so we'll only have an hour between her getting off work and going to our party. I can take my time practicing on my pair.

2. Can the fangs be re-customized?

>> No.9666710

>>9666650
It takes maybe 30 minutes tops from the time you open them til when they're completely set. You risk them sticking to your teeth if you wear them out all night immediately after you've set them, but if you have good dental hygiene and no loose teeth or anything it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'd recommend setting them up the night before the party just to be safe.

They cannot be recustomized. If you need a tighter fit, you can use a little more of the setting paste to make them more snug, but they can't be fitted to someone else's teeth or made larger.

I couldn't find any fake glasses that have a thin green frame with reflective lenses. And since I don't want to mess with my eyes by getting real ones, I ended up getting some fake plain black ones. Hope that doesn't ruin the costume. As for the hair, I have the same length, color, and general shape, but I'll have to figure out a way to curl it in the back and keep the bangs out of my eyes.

I made this card recently to put on the lab coat. It deviates from the in game model, but I wanted a little extra so that people could identify me.

White morphsuit and a gas mask.

Got 3 life sized clown dolls setup on chairs with three candy bowls nearby them on their laps.
Last year I sat out pretending to be a dummy then grabbed at the kids that went for the bowl.

This year I'll have a black sheet setup with scooby doo eyeholes cut out so I can time it right, when the kids try to decipher which clown is a real person, I'll slowly walk out.

This is gonna be playing quietly in the background, but I might switch it for something else.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-MFvmUR4AQ

the suit goes over my feet, so I'll have shoes on first then the suit on top. gonna maybe make finger extensions out of paper and pipe cleaners to make Rake hands.

I hate when the people get physical. I have a scar on my eyebrow where I ended up getting hit with a door once (i was supposed to come out of it, but someone shoved it into me and hit me with it.) I got really dizzy so I took a break to get a snack and one of the organizers commented on how realistic the fake blood looked, and I realized that I wasn't wearing any fake blood. If you value your life without an ER bill in it, don't do this. I used to bind with ACE bandages when I was a young noob crossplayer before everyone got smart about chest binder vests and those suckers got loose, slipped down around my ribs and then tightened so bad I had to get a friend to help me in a bathroom stall so I could breathe without feeling like my ribs were going to crack from the restriction.

If you need a quick and easy way to flatten down use some sports bras and layer them. You won't get perfectly flat but you won't with bandages anyway and at least the sports bras are safer.

At least half a dozen kids thought the vampire teeth were real and almost every single one loved my outfit. Watched some Tim Burton movies and had an amazing time. I was so sad when I had to turn off the lights outside and put up the "out of candy" sign. Definitely going to stock up next year so this doesn't happen again. Pic related, my oogie boogie pumpkin that a kid dressed as Jack Skellington recognized.

I feel extremely bad for everyone ITT that didn't do anything this Halloween. Is it a lack of participation from your neighborhood? Lack of creativity? Depression? Whatever it is I hope you all have a better Halloween next year.

I did a very, very last-minute cosplay of Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club (as in I started it yesterday and finished it last night.) I planned on taking my little sister trick or treating but I ended up being too tired, so I basically just took pictures and then took it off.

also my wig is awful, ik. I'm going to sort it out before I wear this again.

Wore my sort-of Thor costume again plus the new helm from this year. Can't stop chasing seasonal anime to pick a new costume to make. Wanted to do Ozen from Made in Abyss but short notice, very few reference shots, etc.

Pretty good.

I'd say you did a better job than me and my room mate going as Snake and Otacon. I should have spent more time on my Otacon hair and gotten more fitting glasses. A picture without glare on the cellophane would have also been nice.

I did Spidey these last two weekends. I hadn't had that much fun in years, people loved it.

>> No.9676488

Met friends and watched movie
Just wore a dress and a witch hat. No special makeup or anything.
Tried to put makeup on my break, but we ended up removing it because nobody anywhere were wearing anything, so it felt odd in him.
Only one group of kids dressed.
No adults were wearing anything in the streets, no houses had any decorations.
Had fun watching movies, but it feels sad

Pretty bummed it turned out that I had no parties to go to so my costume wasn't really seen, but making my mask + tail was fun at least. This year I'll be turning 21 so I can at least go to bars as a last resort for next Halloween haha

Thank.

Worked late on Halloween and I jammed my fingers , so I couldn't see my swan dress (for Bjork costume). Im sad to have missed out on seeing trick or treaters, but at least they took 3/4 of the candy I left out.

I tried to get into the Halloween spirit though. Watched RHPS over the weekend and wore Lolita (sans petti/with FAX makeup) to work.

I'm the Monika cosplayer and I mean, yeah, I'm not anime-girl-skinny but I'm not huge, either. And not *everyone* on cgl cares about body-type matching, but yeah, most people do

>> No.9678499

>>9678409
Yeah, I'm personally not too fussed about it if the cosplay is good and it's not a insanely bad match (e.g. 300 pound fat man unironically trying to cosplay a petite Japanese schoolgirl). It's also the sort of thing only people on /cgl/ get caught up on too.
