First off, I think you should study lolita a little longer. Learn more about substyles, prints, fabric quality, and coordinating. Wa lolita is already one of the hardest to pull off since it makes any non-Asian wearing it look like a massive weeb. The Tumblr flower crown isn't doing you any favors there, either. If you insist on trying to wear wa loli and don't want any practice with more basic substyles, like sweet or classic, at least get a higher quality main piece from a company like Long Ears and Sharp Ears. And never wear thigh highs with the cheap lingerie lace at the top--I think thigh high socks are a better complement to a wa loli coord. It's also best to wear natural-colored wigs for the most part as party colored wigs make coords look costumey in a bad way. Colored wigs are fine for Halloween or OTT coords but they don't really have a place in lolita outside of that.

For what it’ s worth, it was for a Harry Potter costume theme party, and I was trying to do messy witch hair. Do you have a suggestion on how to make it look more intentional? I think it's absolutely fine to not take concrit or advice on board. After all, it could be not-great advice, out-and-out salty meanness or possibly on the money but just not right for her vision. This business is so subjective.
I guess I meant it was good to see someone not immediately get upset or angry, but instead listen and ask smart questions before weighing up whether the advice is for them.
By approaching it this way she might actually get something out of the experience rather than just hurt feelings and a little lost faith in the lolita community. And it means she took the high road, which is always the best road.

If they're posting, it's so other people can see it. I do think some people can learn to be more constructive in their criticism -- not a fan of the personal attacks.
