Her bear accessories are extremely fluffy and sweet. The print is cutesy, but IMO she could have coorded this with something classier. The shoes do not match, she mixed ivory and bright white, and although her bear accessories are tied together I think it clashes with her dress. The buttons are really off-putting, too.

I personally think the giant cake hat is ridiculous, unless it's for a costume. I could imagine someone wearing that in a pantomime, but not for an outfit. There's nothing wrong with taobao shoes IMO. Shoes are going to get scuffed, dirtied, and have their heels wear down - and honestly their designs aren't so unique that I hardly consider it art theft to model your shoes after someone else's. Like, if brands used actual leather and had seriously sturdy quality then I'd see a difference, but from owning both brand and knockoff shoes I feel there isn't enough of a difference to justify spending the money. I'd much rather save a bit and put those extra funds into supporting brand makers through their main pieces, or even accessories.

nayrt, I don't think outfit is that bad, but honestly i think she let her enthusiasm for the bear bags overshadow her good judgement. It looks equally weird if someone were wearing an Usakumya jsk and decided to carry both the pochette and the rucksack, and then strung together a necklace of mini-mini's to wear around their neck as well. There's paying homage to your favorite character, and then there's looking like a walking merch warehouse.

The non-lolita bags aren't doing her any favours anyway. "Mainstream cute" is often a more childish, simpler and blocker aesthetic, which directly contradicts lolita's almost obsessive attention to finer details. I get that it's Disney merch, but what it boils down to is that the bears are kind of plain and lack the nicer, cutesier details that you'd find on, say, Usakumya or AP's bear bags.

Preach. I hate pleather, and to add insult to injury, the design of many brand shoes is nightmare fuel. And good luck trying to actually walk in them if you wear Lolita in day to day life. It's as if they're not even trying to achieve the same quality and aesthetic (granted, some dresses are questionable too) as the clothes.

My lolita burando dresses and skirts are without exception better quality than any clothes I can buy on the high street, but their shoes? Nah. Not to mention that for those prices, you can buy good leather shoes and if you look hard enough find some that fit the style.

If they're replicas from antaina, they're still hideous, but at least they won't send you to the poor house when you need another pair. If brands don't want their shoe designs stolen, they should sell real shoes, instead of pleather shit.

Not really. If she never mentioned them I highly doubt anyone would jump at her throat at all - feels more like a placebo thing to me. Prints and cuts are hard to properly get down, but for shoe makers it isn't too hard to replicate tea parties or something competently; especially when Brands already use cheap Chinese sweatshop materials for their shoes anyway instead of quality ones. Shoes aren't the pain piece, they're the flavor finishers of a coord. Nobody is going to stare at your shoes and flail their arms in the air over then being replicas when your whole coord is brand aside from them.

different anon chiming in but I think if this was posted pre 2007 I'd say it's lolita, but because of the way the fashion has changed it's not anymore. If she'd posted this in the 90's it'd be everyone's favourite old school coord. There are a million ways to do old school that aren't just blackxwhite babydoll dresses. My Antaina shoes are shit, I would burn all that hideous crap if I didn't pay for them. I'm honestly so mad at myself for investing over 200€ for a couple of pairs of shitty shoes instead of getting even a pair from, for example, Meta. I got winter boots from them last year to support my wide foot but they are super ugly and probaby going into trash after this year. Other ones I have honestly look like a joke. Idk what brand shoes you own but nothing I have owned have been so bad looking as Antaina ones or cost me as much as the Antaina ones. For real, I got new Meta engineer boots for 120€ shipped and new Antaina costs me more than that. I own Meta, Baby and AP andI'm happy with all of them. I don't know about the Bodyline thing that anon mentioned, but she's made some... questionable statements in the past.
