How do you guys manage your budgeting? I had a solid limit for myself this month and everything I've bought is under budget except for literally one set I'm looking at, which pushes me just a few dollars over. On one hand, the character is overall expensive to shop for, and the deal I see is pretty solid. On the other hand, I already know shipping is going to hurt, and I like to stick to my budget.

There's a lot of factors for me. How often does it come up for sale? Is it a grail item? Is the deal too good to be true? How much would I be able to spare from my daily necessities if I really want this? If it's a grail item, it's an automatic yes. Everything else I usually debate over, but most of the time if the deal is pretty solid an it's only a few dollars over the budget, I'd get it since I usually have a bit of extra money on the side in case of emergencies.

I removed the plastic beads on mine by using a seam ripper to pick apart all of the layers of the front of the bag, removed the beads, and then hand sewed it back together. I'd recommend using embroidery floss and a thimble because pushing that needle through all those layers hurts. Use a curved needle if you have one. That'll make it way easier.

Removing the silver patch, even with a seam ripper, will leave some ugly holes in the vinyl. You can use a seam ripper to rip out the entire front layer of the vinyl and then hand-sew your bag back together. Or you could just make a character rosette to go over the patch. That would be way easier.

I didn't unpeel the sticker backings from mine (because I forgot), but I don't think it made any difference. I also didn't need to paint the back of my stickers, because they were sturdy vinyl.

It was my first time using resin so I watched a couple basic tutorials on YT/lurked on the Indie Crafting thread for some tips. Stuff like letting your resin mixture sit for a few minutes first, and using a straw to blow away any bubbles that show up.

So gulls I've came across a problem that I'd say is rather "unique" with building up a bag. So I'm making one for Hachisuka Kotetsu... And noticed that many of his items have a certain symbol on it.
While he does have a lot of stuff where the symbol obstructed or in a really light color, a lot of the nicer looking stuff has it out in full force.

While I know the manji in this case isn't used for anything bad, it's just unfortunate.
It's just a combo of sad and funny for me.

I've had a figure on my bag for a while, sewn down to the insert so it wouldn't move about. I've removed it recently because I noticed a bit of the character's hair was getting slighlty bent+lost a smidge of color prolly from probably having bumped against something (the vinyl was scratched on the area). I had keychains dangling about near it too so I took it out after a while (no damage from that tho). It's nothing bad and noticeable in the end but I'd be extra careful if i were to do it again. If you intend to go for it, make sure to keep them apart like >>9645905 said to avoid paint transfers and make sure the window is pretty deep to avoid the issue I had. Sew the babies up nicely to the insert and they should be okay.

They make rigid card sleeves, two types are mentioned in the FAQ: toploaders and card savers. You can glue pinbacks to em, and the cardsavers have a little lip at the top which you could easily punch a hole through to hang them with. This is a pretty common question, which is why we put them in the faq!

heres one! they're made for straps technically, but check measurements (theres dif sizes) and then just hang them "upside down" so the loops at the top - ive seen it done in other bags and it works really well!

I personally use 4-screw screwdowns and leave a screw out, then string them along a cord. You can also glue a pinback to a one-touch magnet holder. Both screwdowns and one-touches are much thicker than a toploader.

Hi! So I cut out the old ribbon (anywhere is fine) and then I measured out the new ribbon against the old, giving about 2.5 extra inches to be safe. At first I tried to just thread it through, but it’s extremely hard to borderline impossible. So I had to make a small cut inside of the bag in order to reach the holes from the other side. Then I was easily able to lace my new ribbon through and tie both ends together. Pic related is the inside of my bag now. I have to be careful to not drop small items into the slits, otherwise they could be easily lost.

Please feel free to critique + comment esp on my obviously bootleg bags but here's an improvement on my Lance bag. Made the rosette and rose in the corner so I'm pretty happy with it as is but I got more merch I need to add now.

Next project is Hibiki (Im@s) and then Tokoyami, but I'm strugging on what color base to get. Torn between black with a backing or doing a full red bag. Most of the merch I've accumulated so far is split between the UA uniform and the training uniform, so I dont have any idea what color to use. It also depends on what the bag is and how extreme it is. A few rare charms of something common like Pikachu or Rilakkuma isn't going to throw folks off that much, compared to a HYPERBAG with 27 identical Kotori straps.

Itabags are nice because you can tailor it to your powerlevel, and it doesn't even have to be anime. I've seen sportsbags, planet themed bags, and even one based on olympic pins. At that point it may not be an itabag but it was certainly styled like one coincidentally if nothing else. It is at the core, fandom fashion.

This is the card heaviest bag I have saved. I've also got a wip with a ton of cards for my husbando, since they're most of his official merch. I'm also working with some pokemon cards as well, and I'm planning on overlapping them/putting other merch in front of the text halves.

Different people use the term husbando differently anon. For some folks its their one and only, and for others its just any anime dude they find attractive. I'm firmly in the first camp, but I'm not going to get assblasted by people doing the latter.

Sooooooo I started an itabag for Sheryl Nome. But I hate how small these bags are, so I bought a bigger one, which means that I had to buy more merch to fill it, and in the process I realized I should be thanking the gods that Macross shit is so cheap.

No, I've been here for over a year, and I know that the girl who handles most of the Surugaya group orders is a massive multibagger. While I could do the orders myself, I'd rather pay the higher shipping fees and save myself the trouble, and I'm happy she's a part of the community.

I guess what I meant by it is it would be nice for the layered/clutter style bag. I also think adding a background fabric in blue or something would look good against all the yellow in the hair.

I actually got another one of those shikishi in my most recent order of supplies from mandarake (cause they're legit like a dollar and they take up space and are gorgeous). I got one that matches one of the wedding dress keychains hanging in the center. A frame or something like that is a great idea! I'll have to go ruminate on that in the scrapbooking section at michaels.

I totally agree, my statue collection started BECAUSE the ichiban kuji prize statues were so fucking cheap. I just bought a whole new strap set of Sheryl straps specifically for this bag (and also because there was one of Sheryl dressed as Sivil??? I don't get the reasoning but she's my favorite screaming space waifu so I'll take it) and I'm slowly acquiring other things via mandarake and Y!J. When that other anon suggested canbadgi I commissioned a buddy with a heart-shaped button maker to run off some buttons too.

Between this and Uta Macross my life has just become 100% Deculture.

I've been looking for official merch on Mandrake, eBay, and a pokemon store middleman for new things coming out of the pokemon centre stores. I haven't tried other middleman/proxy places or YJapan, etc.

I haven't been able to find much on eBay maybe due to the fact that I'm in Canada? In the collectibles section for me it's 99% cards or plushies. I have most of my favourite cards and plush already, but I'm not sure if I'd want them in my itabag haha.
