How long is the average fursuit maker's backlog for them to reach years-long?

Depends on the maker. Atlier Amanojaku is more of a company than a self-employed maker, so they get your suit done depending on how long you want to draw out the payments. Could be just a few months, up to a year.
Other makers will open for commissions while still working on the last batch so they can take that sweet downpayment money: they then tell you "It'll be a year until I get to you because of my backlog, but I needed the money lol XD"

It's not that she doesn't have time for K-Line. it's more that Eixin wants K-Line to be some huge profit machine while he really doesn't anything but the management. He always teams up with whoever is the most popular female maker in Japan at the time after losing his previous partner and uses that one's work as product example while the quality of the studio works will never reach that one's (he did the same with FZSW, Loki was in fact made for him so they could do PR as fursuit maker couple, pic related).

Has a fursuit with fur patterns similar to Demifiend's tattoos been done before?

Does anyone have examples of Fursuits which are slim looking? I mean not the big chunky legs but tight hugging fur. My Fursona is pretty slim in design and the oversized fluffiness wouldn't suit. Is it even possible? I remember hearing something about sewing elastic into the fur

Guy with the dragon outfit from a couple of threads ago, went and made some minor modifications and took pictures.
Most of which came out terrible because I'm edging on blind with the head on, (hardly anything out of the ordinary). Less so then before though, 'cause I installed mini stereo periscopes that come out into the googles, a notable improvement but still hardly perfect.
Still in it (sans head and hands of course) as I type this, so if anyone wants specific angles, I'll keep it on for probably about the inside of a hour. (As long as nothing comes up.)

Now that the wing supports are in and didn't collapse under their own weight (but won't stay up without assistance though, so something to fix) I can show off the wing span properly. Somewhere in the realm of just under 3m wide (I'll have to get someone else to measure it later.)

If that's for me, periscopes that go into the goggles, as well as the original slits in the eyes themselves (Plexiglass with duct tape colour. Works surprisingly well) giving a little bit of periphery vision.
There's a zip that runs along one side of the scutes down to where the belt line is to get in.

I feel like the bright green eyes are somewhat of a kiddie choice of color but not the actual shape or the way they look to have been made. West wise, Ponponsushi and Kemocube do good stuff. StuffedPandaStudios is getting into the kemono style. There's also Priamwolf in France. Pawaii are newer makers but I don't know when they're taking commissions.

East wise, Atelier Amanojaku and Yohen (Korea) are good. There's Ahuen who is also in Korea. Mochiri mentioned she might one day take commissions, I heard starting in November. A JP friend of mine might do international work too but we'll see what he decides first.

If Kemosuki/iSoniku wasn't closing definitely for commissions I'd recommend them but, yeah they're done with custom suits.

PaciuloFursuits in Brazil does some really nice stuff.

I've been wanting a fursuit for the longest and I feel like every year it just gets harder and harder to find someone to commision. Basically what I want done is a skintight suit(so i can wear clothes) a head(with a wig on it) and tail all done in a realistic style. Personally don't assume it's a fetish thing if it has a purpose, but I know some people do assume regardless, and that's a bit of a problem I'm having. A character I have in mind has jet engines (a dragon, so as a assist) and for them to look realistic, they need a harness to keep them in place (Can't just bolt them to where they go and not have it look like a cyborg attachment), but that creeps into the whole "harnesses are a sexual" thing.
How'd I go about making it look functional instead of sexual? The closest analog to the strapping I had in mind was the 3D maneuver gear from AoT (pic related), but modified for the hypothetical stresses they'd be taking and the anatomy of the character in question.

A 1000 hours in paint to try to illustrate the problem (not perfectly to scale or 100% representative of actual theoretical necessary strapping). The main problem being the wing membrane length (which might be understated in the drawing) making backpack straps impossible, and the space between the wings making it impractical to put the jets there. (It'd be a lot narrower than the drawing shows)

Depends on the suit, but there is usually some source of air flow from western style eyes unlike most kemono ones. If you've got plastic on your eyes and a tiny, basically closed mouth, it can be a lot harder in comparison.

I feel like I was both anon and although I am not the person who made the video about waiting years on a k-line suit (unless she actually showed up then woah I didn’t know) I did mention the Rady being sad about copies thing.

It was an amalgamation of several issues that brought her to no longer participate in commissions, this is what we know:
-people would approach Rady with Rufen copies asking her to make them. Not wanting to make the same thing over and over again (ironic) and the fact people were taking her design, she got really depressed and left FA and most art platforms, she’s still on Twitter.
There is a journal she made about her leaving and reasons why but I don’t know if you can find it; I can’t find screenshots and her page is disabled

-She became busy and in 2016 started school, this didn’t help the backlog

-During the time that K-Line’s backlog got to this point, they announced they were no longer doing commissions. The Rufen clones are said to be the cause. Other cause could be the loss of motivation and depression, which were caused by the clones

-This would soon change to “no international commissions” but I think they closed them all together again soon after

-K-Line opens the “Showcase”, pre designs that people can buy. These can be purchased internationally. This is so that people can have K-Line products, but without the risk of the clones

-She no longer has the time and motivation, so she doesn’t really help with K-Line anymore.
It’s more Eixin’s project now which the understudies working on the suits. You can tell due to the quality, especially the necks. They’re always ill fitted.
I’ve heard she does the eyes but I can’t say that’s credible and I don’t recall where I read this
