Another notable event from the last thread:
Honey Hime announced that they've recorded a new song that's "prossimamente" (coming soon)!

Also, apparently Mimi's (Stellure) solo song is supposed to come out sometime this month. I... really hope she's been practicing.

It seems like net idol activity has slowed down since summer's ending and school's starting, but at least Halloween's coming up pretty soon! Anyone learning/performing any songs for the occasion?

Anyone got any general tips or tricks for people going solo?
I've been in some groups but in all honesty they were incompetent as fuck and I never really learned anything about the filming aspect of it. So if anyone has advice for when you actually go out on location to film to get me started I'd be super thankful.

>> No.9631408

>>9631325
if you're going outside in public to film i'd definitely suggest bringing someone to come with just to watch your camera and be support. People usually look for a moment, maybe snap a picture, and keep walking but sometimes it attracts the wrong folk.

Since it'd be just you, be mindful of how big your background is. It's very easy to drown yourself out in a video because of too much going on in the background or the camera not being close or far enough. I suggest looking at some solo covers by dancers like Manako, Penta and Kozue to get a sense of how close the camera should be to you.

A few months ago a group called Velvet Kitsune was holding a fundraiser so they could have a live debut, but the only content they had at that point was a couple of bland instrumentals. The group leader just released this solo song with vocals completely devoid of emotion and autotune on par with the Flusay Girls.

not exactly per se, but usually the idol that can't sing makes up for it with personality and looks or even dancing. The problem with net idol groups is that they accept these bad singers and then give everyone equal lines or lines they clearly can't sing instead of focusing on the things that person is good at. Though of course in most cases recently with net-idols the person isn't good at anything, which makes me wonder why they even bothered if they weren't going to try and get better.

What's even sadder is most cosplay cover groups or groups that go and perform at cons do this too. I wanted to see what applying for a local group was like since they said they were scouting for new members and I literally just messaged them, told them my love live "best girl" and they said they'd be more than happy if I joined. Didn't even ask once for a link to social media, dance/singing cover, nothing. I guess if the group sucks already before they hold auditions, it's hard to have high standards for anybody who might join.

Not for Halloween but this is by far one of the most beautiful backgrounds to an odottemita video I have ever seen. The fact that they were able to film right as a fireworks display was happening and probably could only do one take truly shows dedication. The only thing I'm not surprised about it that it's a Miko video as her Hand in Hand video in Salar de Uyuni is just as beautiful.

>> No.9632720

It's a lot harder to get people in a dance cover group who are good at anything if you're starting from scratch. I mean, you can tell people you're recruiting and regardless if you have an audition vs application or a deadline or however much you advertise, if you're starting from scratch, its hard to get people to join.

I think more of the groups that are successful are the ones made up of mutual friends that don't post shit until they've done a performance or pv and then if people drop out and they have more auditions, people flock to the scene because they were actually good enough to gain a following and set a standard in the first place.

I mean, of the actual good cover groups you've seen, how many of them can you find audition posts for from the beginning? And that would exclude from any groups that previously had a following, disbanded, and made a new one.

>>9632882
No, you're definitely right about Miko's video. Aside from the fireworks showing through Ruru's hair, you can also just barely make out the areas that they were cut out on. I say cut out because they don't seem like they're overplayed considering that you can see through the hair as if there's a hole, they aren't transparent to any extent (which would happen if there's an overlay), and if you you look closely at the ground they're dancing on, the edge looks smooth and as if it was placed on top. I think they did one of two things: recorded the fire works and then the dance in the same area not long after another for lighting or recorded the dance at night in a different area and then layered their video over the fireworks footage.

I do wonder how they did it though. Individually cutting out every frame would take a really long time. Praise for the editing skills.

The way I see it, I think that there were three separate recordings: the scenery itself, the scenery with fireworks, and the girls dancing in front of the scenery. >>9636140

Asking for a picture is fine but you should probably let them know that it'll be part of what they're being judged on. Asking for measurements in the audition form is tricky because it'll either come off as making sure they're thin enough (which, if that's a criteria for you, would be why you require a picture), or for outfit purposes (which should come after they've been accepted). You should also ask for dancing and, if applicable, singing clips, and include something about the expectations for the group (in terms of practice time, monetary costs, etc) and have them check a thing that says "I agree" so they don't act surprised later on when they're expected to pull their weight.

They were a hot topic because they accrued several thousand likes on their Facebook page in an incredibly short amount of time, but not on other forms of social media, and their fan interaction was minimal, meaning they *probably* paid for those likes. Considering more than likely she is using acrylics, it isn't as easy as just painting over a wall and calling it a day. Acrylics can ruin the walls and is a pain in the ass to get off. Using a tooth bursh or cloth with rubbing alcohol to scrape it off but takes a long ass time to come off clean. If you want your kid to be expressive with art, give them canvases and nice tools. It will cost less, you won't regret anything, and they can still look back and cringe at their art.

I thought it was just Mimi’s but it seems like all of them. I can think of one or two answers to the questions. They probably kept them there as “housing” for them instead of just having to have them in their closet. Since it seems like they go to Mimi’s to meet up (it was said they live in different areas I think?), it may just be easier to keep them there for storage purposes. Or all of them just accidentally left them behind. As for the second question, who knows? Maybe, maybe not. I doubt Mimi put too much into it herself but unless one of them comes around the two possibilities are these: before hand Mimi said she’d care of costumes 100% or if they offered she either declined or said yes.

Honestly I just wish they would stick closer to the LL formula if they're going to follow it at all. Love Live releases at least two songs per CD with new cover art (so outfits). Stellure would improve so much if they just did two or three songs per outfit instead of one per.
Also, Shining Stars really came out great in comparison to Lets Go Baby. I also wish they would make MV and DVs so they would be able to produce more content while also having more time to practice (official outfit progress while releasing a practive DV, then an official DV, and finally MV).

>> No.9642639

I understand what you’re getting at but there’s a lot that goes into this. First, most title songs have costumes that allow the person to say “oh this era/time/song/etc.” Sure, indie idol groups do have one outfit but that’s usually because of theme or funds. They also very rarely, if ever, release their original songs. Specifically with Love Live though, your thought is comparing different singles to one single that contains an a-side and 1-2 b-sides. Not only that, but generally units have their own outfits. It’s meant to distinguish a permanent unit from a short term one, so it makes sense that Nebula and SuperNova have different costumes. And that kinda goes back to the more than one costume. Even if units don’t have costumes on their covers, there’s still costumes associated with it (like Cutie Panther). Having one costume every few songs doesn’t mean they will practice together more. It honestly seems like they only gather for 2-3 days before recording to practice the dance together. Even their audition said “be able to travel to central jersey at least once a month”. That doesn’t necessarily sound like a group that meets often.

TL;DR: Less outfits for singles =/= better quality. It just means less outfits.

>> No.9642694

>>9642639
Whoops, sorry if it sounded confusing. I didn't mean that subunits shouldn't have their own outfits- they should! It's just that if they have time to use on making outfits, it would be better for them to use the time that it would take to make a new design and outfit to practice for their new song instead. I personally like different outfits for different songs, but not all songs need one if that makes sense.

I think the problem is that Stellure introduced subunits way too early, when they had just barely established themselves with their debut (which didn't even feature the whole group as Tauri was absent for whatever reason).

They should have continued to do songs as a whole group before introducing subunits. They could have used the same costumes for a few songs before making new ones (if only the Bright Future costumes were better made...). I'm sure most people wouldn't even mind some cute casual outfits for MVs if the song's good and the video's entertaining.

I really think attempting to upload every weekend is going to be their downfall. It's obviously a struggle to stay relevant in the idol scene when you can't produce content constantly but I would much prefer 1 solid, well practiced, nicely filmed dance cover a month than 4 really shitty quality covers every week.

If they had more than 3 members I could see weekly uploads being feasible since you could let each member do a solo cover and take care of their own filming and uploading and what not but when it's the same 3 people that are responsible for all of that, it gets difficult.

This is honestly so fucked up and this means one of two things. That there was a different set of girls for MP before this one (hence the long period of silence) or he managed another group and just straight up stole everything then started auditions. I don't mind idols who aren't amazing, pitch-perfect singers (one of my favorite idols is so bad at singing, she says she's tone deaf) but Hayley was straining her voice throughout her entire performance. She should have chosen some less intense songs. Plus, the people she brought onstage to sing with her seem as though they had never even heard the song before. Why did they go up there to just stand around, looking lost and mumbling the lyrics?

As for Milky Kitty, she seemed alright from what I could see. It's hard enough to enjoy a dance cover when the dancer is a blur 40 feet away from the camera, but the wota flailing in front of her certainly aren't helping. I hope closer, clearer footage of the performances will be uploaded sometime soon.

That could definitely be it. When there's a lot of detail going on, small changes in color and such stick out a lot less. But I'm a bit biased because I am a huge sucker for outfits and items made in members' image colors. I want to see this work though - both the outfits and the song.

On that note, I'm getting a bit of a soft spot for Stellure because it's rare to see a group continue to put out content in the face of such heavy criticism and notoriety that they received after Bright Future. Like I know it's just words on the internet but I'm a wimp and probably would have given up, lol. They've also improved significantly with each release which means they're actually paying close attention to what people are saying about them and are using it to learn. They still have a long way to go to become "good", but keeping in mind that none of them are even 18, they've earned my respect for what they've accomplished. I hope the next releases are even better so I don't end up eating my words lol.

I think Mimi could be right that matching wig hair color with bow could make the wigs stand out less and you can sort of see it in the Bokura pic. Another reason could just be that Muse has a rainbow lineup going on and Stellure's colors aren't as cohesive in real life in my opinion. This is possibly the worst Ruteshi I have ever watched...... You can tell half of them never bothered to learn the dance. I feel bad for the half that actually tried........

looks alright to me, but I don't know the dance. I just wish they were synced a little more and that some of them remembered to smile. That kiss at the end is pretty cringe, too.

I'm so glad they're doing sub units.. They're one of the only groups I'm comfortable learning from since they're A) Really talented and B) High quality videos with one angle.

Wait what the hell, I checked out their videos since I thought it looked cool but this is really bad??? None of them can sing, they're using bad microphones, the video quality sucks, the dances are bad and they're not really in sync, the editing is horrendous, none of them seem to know how to act in front of the camera and it just seems awkward, in the Bright Future video some of the girls get cut off by the poor camera work when they stand at the edges, half of the videos' lenght are bloopers/credits, they're clearly supposed to have certain personalities and characteristics but they don't show at all during the dance, only in the art and the end photos, the wigs are tacky and SADLY THE OBVIOUSLY HOME MADE, AVERAGE COSPLAY QUALITY OUTFITS ARE THE BEST PART IN THIS GROUP AND THEIR VIDEOS.

Do they actually have fans who genuinely like this? They have LOTS of room for improvement and I hope they try and train more in the future. I can see a bit of improvement between the oldest and the newest videos, so hopefully they'll keep on making progress.

Agreed. Her solo is stunning and she's very precise throughout the whole video with no hesitation or unnecessary movements but also not stiff. She deserves to be center and did an excellent job.

Im more concerned that members from a really good group like Project Starlight are even doing something like this. So much potential waisted on a dieing fandom. I really expected much better from them.

Um okay lmfao. But yes there is wasted energy in this. They're probably just trying to stay relevant because LL is dying but they're going in the totally wrong direction.

A My Little Pony cosplay dance group? Are they going to be covering songs from the Friendship is Magic show? Because if so then they're going to have to choreograph their own dances (with the exception of some Equestria Girls songs kinda)

The con they're going to debut at is being discontinued after this year oddly enough.

Well they did say they're doing original choreography, one of the girls uploaded a video of them dancing "Helping Teilight Win the Crown" and they aren't perfectly in sync. Which is pretty sad since this choreography is for children

Never really used this app before, but reading the Stellure thread was very interesting to me. Stellure’s leader, Mimi, has unrealistic expectations of the group and is constantly missing deadlines. Her views are idealistic, and while that can be a great thing one day reality is going to smack her on the head and she isn’t going to know what hit her. That being said( she has, from what I can tell, lived a relatively sheltered life.
I thinking she and the other members of Stellure are flawed in different ways, but it’s admirable how they keep trying even when faced with criticism. I think you guys need to give them a bit more credit. The majority of the members are inexperienced with choreography, sewing, and music in general but their performances have improved.
Not perfect, but you can see improvement. I’m excited to see what they’re going to do next.
(ALSO Stella left Stellure of her own accord and then posted anonymously on this website bc she’s a baby who got upset at Mimi and then started spreading shit. There was a lot more that most people don’t know about that was Stella’s fault, but that’s not here nor there and it’s old news.)
