OP is snarking at Haenuli because they're releasing a dress with a pretty similar pint design

Not a complete knock off, but I immediately thought of JetJ too

Eh, you can only do so much with a "phases of the moon" design, and border prints are about as traditional Lolita as it goes.

One of the many reasons why I will never buy from Ham-euli

>> No.9629856

it's definitely inspired by the dress, conscious or otherwise.
the print placement, the chiffon sleeves that drape and nip in at the wrist, the v-shaped seams decorating the bodice, the gathered skirt, the two rows of frills. if it were only a couple of those things, i'd have said it was a stretch but there's a lot that are similar.

my boyfriend even noticed that haenuli's new release looked like a knock off of lune d'eau and he couldn't give less of a shit about lolita or fashion.

>> No.9629858

I'm not a fan of the JetJ dress, but I love the Haenuli OP. It's similar, but I've seen plenty of normie shirts and skirts with the same kind of print, so it's not like it was a super original idea to begin with. There's just really not many ways to depict phases of the moon, like >>9629843 said

I love Lune D'eau and I own it but regrettably it is much too big for me. I am looking forward to this Haenuli release because I'll finally get to have my moon phase dress!

I was thinking the sleeves on the Haenuli OP look familiar- I never forget a dramatic sleeve.

Wooow, the edges of those moons are TERRIBLE, and isn't just the promo picture - you can tell by the waning half moon that those images are what's printed on the dress. The cut is nice, but that poor image quality, (that's supposed to be the focal point), absolutely ruins it.

Agreed. Haenuli one will be an ita magnet.

I'm getting kind of tired of seeing these kinds of threads and debates. We recently had the same shit with kawaii goods.

I've seen so much similar stuff released only to get threads like this.

Does anyone remember the brand whore/brand bitch enamel pin debacle? So fucking petty.

Similar films come out sometimes and there aren't fucking lawsuits over it. There aren't a ton of original ideas anymore. Get over it.

Haenuli has a history of tracing parts of her prints and claiming Chinese replica jewelry as her own original design, so I don't see anything wrong with keeping an eye on whatever new "original" pieces she comes out with.

Explain all the film remakes and song covers.
How many cat dresses do we have? How many bunny dresses? Don't some of them have similarities? What about all those cloud dresses that people screech about how they aren't like misty sky?

How is this any different?

The only thing I like about the Haenuli version is that it doesn't have text written on it. Having Japanese text on my dress that I cannot read seems a bit cringey to me.

But if you compare the two brands designs with each other you can obviously tell that the JetJ version is superior. It doesn't have fugly lace around the bottom and even though JetJ is known for shitty photoshop their moons are thousand times better than those abnorminations in Haenulis version that resemble more of a rotten cheese than the moon phases.

I like the Haenuli version better too. I don't like bxw to begin with, but the top portion of the jetj piece is too colorblocky and i don't like the black overlay over the white. the black on black of the haenuli looks way better. also moon phases are fucking everywhere lately, tons of other motifs have been done repeatedly by multiple brands so i'm not sure why people are freaking out over two moonphase prints

I honestly just wish Haenuli put more effort into this print. It's like the moons were just thrown in as an afterthought. She could have also illustrated or drawn the moons or something like clouds since she could actually, y'know, draw. But if you guys want to go buy a sub-par dress go for it .-.

I'd have to measure it, i'm a 31 in. bust, 13.5" shoulder and the bust and shoulders are HUGE. I am a seamstress but taking it in would mean altering the shoulder which is hard because of the ruffle neckline. I have set it aside for now, but maybe eventually will alter or sell it.

okay, so apparently this isn't shopped, but a photo of a watercolor painting? I guess that explains the moon edges--absorbency of the original paper.
but it definitely doesn't translate well as a dress print. maybe it would look more like a painting if the background was more detailed...stars or some kind of dark gradation.
Or even if the paper texture was made a visible feature.

She should have spent a bit more time on this design.
