Why does it say neo lolita on the pictures if it doesn't exist? As someone who actually buys larme magazine, half of these coords wouldn't be in it and the ones that would be would be styled slightly differently. As far as I can tell this is streetstyle that is currently popular in Tokyo mixed with lolita accessories. Perhaps it's slightly inspired by amo kei too.

this is not Lolita
this is not Larme
this is the cancer that is killing AP

>> No.9594484

>>9594481
I know there are a few people confused about larme but nobody has claimed it's actual lolita. AP has always been a brand that follows trends while still making lolita clothing, so if you don't like how they change maybe you should find a different brand to follow.

>> No.9594487

>find a different brand to follow

AP is going unpopular, just look at how bad they sell, how bad their designs are
Bloodbaths are a thing of the past
and that happened when they started following this cancer trend

Your passive aggressive comment cannot deny that

>> No.9594489

>>9594487
I'm not denying that, I don't care about AP enough to know how much leftover stock they have. I just know they've followed normie trends for ages and will follow new trends in the future too.

>> No.9594494

>>9594487
Some of the girls in this thread are wearing BTSSB, Meta or IW. I don't think AP is trying to follow neo lolita, rather these girls like some aspects of lolita but don't want to wear it full-on so they mix it with other cute streetstyle. If I remember correctly >>9592483 said some people don't like how much rules and how OTT lolita has become so they wear this instead.

>> No.9594500

>>9594494
Still, this image you point is not neoLolita
is just Lolita dress with a jacket. Wearing Baby with offbrand stuff is just casual Lolita. There is nothing new in that.

Neo-Lolita is that trend that RinRin mentioned, in which the style tries to become more distilled, but ends up becoming a watered down version of something that fails to stand out as something else than just clothes (reasons why people keep pointing at Larme).

Gets worse if you try to remember the Galaxxxy collab with RinRin and their printed tees that said "Lolita".

I get the urge to try to simplify, it is the design ideal. But doing so is not as simple as stripping off everything from a style and ending up with nothing.

I think a lot of people don't know lolita in Japan doesn't just refer to pedo bait anime characters, the book or the fashion as we know it. It just means a female who looks young. So it can be a 50 year old woman who dresses like a child, it can be an anime character who is not even human (like Haibane Renmei or SE Lain), it can porn, and it can be a fashion with the same sentiment as ‘’our’’ lolita but looks more like a mix of current harajuku trends. All can exist at the same time and it’s not suddenly going to kill lolita brands.

I think it’s pretty weird that gulls are so in denial about a style that’s been mentioned in magazines frequently, but they accept otome kei threads.

And a lot of things that are considered childish looking in the US (frills, baby blue, pink, hair ribbons, stuffed animals, knee-high socks, pompoms, baby animals, dolls) are *surprise* also considered childish in Japan. That's why it's not that strange for them that Rinrin's collection is called neo lolita, it combines lolita elements (hime cut and childish shit) with harajuku fashion, and neo was just a trendy word.

>Isn't AP doing well?
All signs point to "less than stellar." AP releases are far less of a bloodbath than they used to be, and their stock is staying up for much longer. More and more of their product is going on clearance.

It's not the apocalypse, but it's clear what they are doing is not selling as hot as it used to.

>> No.9596723

Question related: my only chance to find the "Lolita" sweater is to search on the jap second-hand market right? Like they won't be sold anymore at the galaxxxy shop?

>> No.9596730

>>9596722
I think that's because of cheaper options now (taobao)

>> No.9596732

>>9596730
But those options are selling stuff that's styled differently. If what AP was putting out was on the cutting edge, taobao would be following suit and AP would still be selling well.

>> No.9597977

>>9596732
I think they won't change their way of designing. They've always looked at what Japanese girls wear, I don't think they're suddenly going to follow western or chinese trends. But I like that they take their inspiration from Tokyo even if sometimes I don't like that inspiration.

>> No.9597988

>>9596722
>>9596730
I think it's a bit of a mix. AP doesn't have as many bloodbaths as they used to because there's a far wider array of prints, cuts, and brands.

AP has stuck to specific cuts and prints for a long time because that's what sells. Now though, people are getting kind of tired of food and unicorns prints - the want for more 'originally' designs is much bigger now than it used to be.

>> No.9598000

>>9597988
I completely disagree, sorry. AP is the lolita brand that has pushed boundaries in a good way and changed so much from when they first started. Lolita just doesn't move that fast. But AP has introduced different fabrics that at first we wouldn't have accepted, and different cuts a lot of Western lolitas still don't accept.

>> No.9598015

>>9598000
Oh, I agree with that! AP is one of the main reasons lolita has become as big as it is, and I do think that they have experimented with fabrics, cuts, etc.

But I still stand by the statement that AP releases things that are, in general, safe. They release dresses that they know won't flop - colors, cuts, and prints for the past few releases have all been similar in various ways.

Taobao brands experiment more. Hell, when have you ever seen AP release a print with cats with guns? Or a cactus print? Taobao brands do a lot more when it comes to their print ideas than the teddy bears, donuts/chocolate, or horse prints we generally get with AP.

>> No.9600360

>>9598015
I feel like some taobao brands have more freedom in that they don't rely on brand loyalty and don't have the same expectations when it comes to style and quality. Most taobao brands don't even have a recognizable style.
