Use lots of hashtags but aim for ones that are in the middle in terms of popularity (if you use ones with millions of photos, your photo has less chance of being seen before it gets pushed down). How do you upload full body photographs to IG? I know there's an app named instasizer, but it adds borders to your images (and doesn't work properly on my mobile). I've seen plenty of other users upload full body coord photographs without borders. The icon in IG, the one with to arrows still cuts off my feet. What am I doing wrong?

Choose a filter and/or colour temperature and stick with it. If you want to change it up or post something off-themed in the middle try to do it in sets of 3, so you get a full line. I give my pics a wash of blue-tinted filter to make the pictures cooler in warmth, that's my jam. Instagram works in squares. If you do not fit in the square, they will crop the photo when you're browsing through to make it a square. If you are doing one photo, 1x1 ratio is fine. If you're into 1x2 collages, a ratio of 1x2. If you want a group of 3, make each photo 1x3 so nothing you don't want gets cut out. If a group of 4 in a 2x2 formation, again a square 1x1 ratio. Etc, etc.

Size doesn't matter, it's about the proportions. If you want your feet to be in the photo, you need to have enough background in your photo so that there is enough space, so basically take further away photos.

I post Lolita content, coords, meetup photos and a few selfies. My coords consistently get over 150 likes, but I haven't been getting any new followers for quite a while. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I know it's not something I should fixate on but I see other people getting tons of followers for posting rarely and getting less attention on their posts.

Should I follow more people? Use better tags? Have more cohesive themes and content?

Can someone help me? When you add a white border with space all around a photo, how do you get it to be the same size every time? I use Line Camera and can't figure out how to make it consistent.

It's to avoid cropping the photo. While you can now change photos to not be a square, sometimes a large photo will still be badly cropped using Instagram's cropping edit.

Don't worry about how many followers you have just keep trying. People like selfies a lot if that helps also it took me ages to get to 10k, but once you reach 10k you get followers easy.
Using popular hashtags help as well as much as they seem cringey, you reach out to more people who search that hashtag.

I'm trying to get back into insta but a few years ago it was easy to get 50-100 likes simply by tagging correctly. Now my tags barely seem to attract a few likes. How is a new account suppose to curate a following? What are the current tricks?

I post every 2-3 days, and usually only post full cosplays. However, I also do fashion/casual posts where it's just wig and makeup, but no character associated. I only tag the series and character name + #cosplay for cosplay posts, or #jfashion and the type of jfashion (usually 3-4 tags maximum). Most of the series I'm into are the popular ones, but the times I do cosplay from more unknown series, it gets around the same or maybe 1k less likes (my average likes is 8-10k likes per photo), but it's usually still within the 8-10% interaction range. My fashion/casual selfies usually get more likes than my cosplay ones.

I follow people who post nothing but selfies, but pretty low-quality images with lots of "kawaii" stickers and shit on them and they get literal hundreds of likes. They put a shitton of irrelevant tags on, like gyaru and ulzzang when she doesn't look either, but still the likes and follows roll in.

By following and unfollowing big accounts, you get put in the top of their list of followers. Some people sit there and follow tons of people to try and get followers themselves, others are bots (ie accounts like get-followers-quick-48516651).

A lot of them will unfollow over time, as the accounts may be deleted, or the person just unfollowed you. I am steady at 320-330 followers.
