This keeps getting brought up in other threads so it probably deserves a thread of it's own.

Every straight guy I have ever known has always talked about hooking up at their first convention. If you're a socially awkward person who can't hook up with random strangers at a bar scene, it probably isn't going to happen at a convention either. You're probably also going to piss off anyone you're rooming with if you try when others are trying to sleep. The rule of 6-2-1 is not a suggestion if you want any chance of hooking up.

Girls aren't like guys. They aren't thirsty 100% of the time. Just because they're single doesn't meant they're DTF or looking for a BF. This is where reading body language becomes important. If someone starts asking personal questions about you (your name, where you live, what you do for a living) they may be interested in being friends or even more. Don't blow it by inviting them to your room immediately. Also some self awareness is important. You should know if your a fit person or a fat fedora wearing neckbeard. Take time to shower, use deodorant and do something about your breath after eating meals.

At this point, this is all stuff any person who isn't socially inept should know, but we are talking about people who go to conventions and browse 4chan here. So now we have to add on the extra stack of crazy that is cosplay girls or conlitas, whichever float your boat. Never has the statement "I'm not wearing this for you" been more true. These people are used to having their personal space invaded by people asking for pictures so simply asking for permission will let you know how interested they are by their response to a simple yet respectful question. Being manhandled by smelly or moist people is not a pleasant experience. Many costumes are made by amateurs and have delicate parts that come off easily. Stack that on top of all the other reasons that a girl might not want a guy touching them and it just becomes a perfect storm of possible issues.

I know a lot of socially awkward guys have very little respect for women, but if you like seeing hot girls wearing skimpy cosplay, you need to make conventions a safe place for them to do so.

>socially awkward guys have very little respect for women
Having respect for women does not contribute to getting laid.

>Girls aren't like guys. They aren't thirsty 100% of the time.
Surprise, guys aren't thirsty 100% of the time either. You're thinking about the libido of teenage boys, which most guys relatively quickly fall out of the "maximum dicking" mindset by their early 20's.

Threads like these feel like they're more about shaming socially inept guys into being inactive rather than helping them. The people that are going up to girls and harassing them verbally or physically just because they're in cosplay don't give a single fuck about the people they're harassing. They're doing it because they want to and won't even feel guilty for being a creep since they're just thinking about what they want. They get off to verbally harassing you and know that it isn't appropriate already.

>"I'm not wearing this for you"
Right they're doing it to get attention, which just makes it selfish.

I second all of this. The really socially awkward guys aren't the creepers, they're the ones who get mocked for hover handing because they're terrified of making a girl feel uncomfortable.

Yeah seriously, look at the people that were named and shamed in the creeper thread that actually hurt people. They all knew exactly what they were doing.

Yeah because the betas are the problem and not the guys intentionally abusing girls right?

This is very well known tactic mainly women use.

They try to put your social status down so they can feel better about themselves.

I say ban cosplaying.
Disgusting 3D females trying too hard to become 2D perfection,it's funny.

I know a bunch of autists, and while they don't know how to interact socially <most> of them aren't actually women hating /r9k/tards. They are just socially inept so they come off as creepy.

Exactly, it's like rapists. The people who do it know it's wrong, but do it anyways. All this shaking does is force people on the borderline to be much more of a herbivore than they were before. Hoverhanding and those things come from shaming like this. The actual creeps won't hoverhand and will just grab your ass
