I've been wanting to lose weight for both health and lolita related reasons, and I want to hear stories from other lolitas for motivation. I'm not obese but I am overweight, and I fit brand pieces almost at the max so I want to lose a good amount of weight to fit brand nicely and normally without worrying that the piece will be too small for me. Please motivate me with your stories, or if you're also in the path of Lolita weightloss, tell me what you're doing and your goal (and if you're succeeding).

I got the Lose it app and I feel it is helping me. When you can look at a list of everything you eat in a day and all the calories, having that 500 calorie lava cake is a lot less tempting. It also makes it feel like a game.

My current bust and waist are 88cm/68cm

I would like to get back down to 84cm/60 cm which is the size I was when I first got into lolita.

Mostly because I would like to go back to being able to order older pieces without obsessively checking measurements.
I'm trying to control my portion sizes, resist the siren call of the biscuit tin at work and walk to the train station rather than getting the bus. Also hula hooping to tone my tummy.

/fit/anon here, not lolita but there's tons of women where i come from.

I would strongly recommend a calorie counter assistant app to get you started. Lose It is a pretty solid choice and will give you a great place to start but id be cautious about the computer generated advice that apps give you, they might loose out of important details. If any program asks your height/weight then its just using your BMI as a benchmark and it can never take into account actual muscle or athletic ability.

Generally, snacking and overeating are the biggest hurdles. If you can manage your cravings, cut out sugar where possible, and eat reasonable portions, you've already done 70% of the work.

Ineed to loose 30 pounds now. My shirring is maxed out on my dresses. Ive never been this big. I didnt get a scale until recently so i never realized how big I had gotten till i had a hard time zipping up my dream dress. My goal is to get back down to 74cm waist which was where i was when i first started lolita. Im at 80 now.
I cheated yesterday for the holiday so now im back up a few pounds and its really fustrating i kind of want to cry. Today i made myself a crab and spinach salad for lunch. I didnt have any time to prep my snacks for work today so any time i get hungry like i want a snack i chug a bottle of water to keep my tummy full. Im trying to keep a positive attitude but meal planning is such a bitch when the payout is only about 1 pound a week.

I've managed to lose 4lbs and I'm forcing myself to drink more water/green tea and not get fast food or anything when I'm out with friends.

My natural waist has always been 75cm, but my stomach is closer to 80cm especially when bloated. I wanted to like this app. But the system wants you to lose weight by looking a shitton of sittups and puts other exercises behind a paywall. You can still use the sit ups feature to accrue points with other exercises, but the point accumulation is so slow you don't get enough story fast enough to keep your motivation up.

Not even listening to Takahata101 calling me a little fatty could keep my tied to this thing.

I lost 45lbs recently, because I couldn't fit a few dresses I had bought. Count calories almost autistically and exercise if you want to. Use MyFitnessPal and a TDEE calculator and eat at a deficit. Losing weight is not difficult. Sometimes a little frustrating but it's about making lifestyle changes and learning about proper nutrition and putting it into practice. The threads on /fit/ called /fat/ help a lot and provide good motivation and info. Good luck.

I'm on Keto. I've cut out all carbs except ones coming from veggies. 20lbs down and 3-4" off b/w/h (varies, 4" off my stomach though) in two months. I also do intermittent fasting, where you eat between a 6 or 8 hour timeframe and only two meals. Most of your calories come from natural/healthy fats (meats/animal fat, avacados, eggs, cheese, olive oil, etc) and that causes very little insulin spikes and keeps you satiated throughout the day. Otherwise it's meat and veggies. I don't really pay attention to calories but most days I'm around 1200-1400, which was about what I ate when I lost weight just counting calories but still ate carbs and sugar. I feel much more full throughout the day and my mood is 1000% better. I'm super-energetic too, like it doesn't run out like it did with sugar in my system all the damn time.

>>9549621
I don't even consume fruit sugar, with exception to lemon or lime juice. The only sugars I allow myself are occasional baked treats that I make myself using low glycemic sugars (like stevia) and almond or coconut flour. Most of the time I'm lazy and just make some little cream cheese treats. (peanut butter, no sugar added and dark chocolate, or dark chocolate and matcha) I think it's about 5 carbs max for one of these and it's in a cupcake liner.

Once I get to my goals I'll reintroduce fruit to my diet, and probably sweet potatoes and brown rice, beans and corn. My body hates bread/flour and whenever it's in anything even just flour added as a thickener my stomach cramps up. Never did that before.

Fellow chubby here! I feel your struggles, OP. I have to be very choosy about which pieces I buy to make sure that they fit me well. One of my biggest motivations has been the recent purchase of my all-time dream dress, which broke my heart when I tried it on thinking I was still ok measurement wise. It's been a slow going process, but I have to remind myself that if you're going to do weight loss the healthy way, it does take time. l don't have a scale at home so it's harder than I would like to keep track of progress, but after about a month of being a lot stricter about my eating and exercise habits, I think I'm finally starting to notice some changes :)

Some things I would offer as tips:
-if you haven't already, start keeping a food journal and count your calories! I like to use MFP on my phone.
-Cardio is good for burning immediate calories, but doing weight training will help increase the amount of calories you burn throughout the day (over time, as you build muscle)
-Remember that even if you go a little over today, you always get to start over again tomorrow :)

Lost 140lbs in the last year and a half. Used to be pushing 300lbs, now am 130lbs. I sprained my rib when I was fat and it was a huge wake up call--I couldn't speak or sit up for over 2 months and could barely breathe. Being as big as I was made any motion push down on my sprained rib. I also lived with my awful inlaws and never left my room area upstairs--my husband would just bring me fast food and soda on his way home from work every day.

I completely quit soda and started walking everywhere that I could. I started by replacing all of my meals with lean cuisines until I finally got all the junk food cravings and larger portion cravings out of my system. Now I cook a lot of my meals and eat mostly fish and seafood. I don't "diet" per say, as I still allow myself treats--just in moderation. Also, if you ever go out to eat, ask for a to-go box at the beginning and put half of your food in there before you start eating. You HAVE to want it--half measures and giving up doesn't work. Also, restaurant salads are usually the highest calorie thing on the menu--don't bother with them.

It isn't fun and it isn't immediate, but you'll feel so much better. I also started lifting weights instead of focusing on cardio.

The day I was able to fit into brand for the first time in over 7 years, I started sobbing. I only own a few pieces at the moment, since I'd cleared out my old wardrobe when I got fat, but every time I'm able to finally afford a new piece it's worth everything. (though, losing weight and eating healthy is expensive--it can be done on a tight budget, but it requires a LOT of work)

Sorry for the rambling blog post--I'm on mobile and am really tired. Hope this helps!

I absolutely hate how fat I have gotten and I am even angrier that I was right all along and something was going wrong with me

Ive never drank sodas, alcohol, or even coffee.

My family rarely had snacks in the house and my dad is a huge health nut so we always ate lean chicken and turkey and tuna and shit.

But after getting nexplanon I started slowly ballooning even though nothing had changed, figured that was the BC, and then I started REALLY BALLOONING and started thinking my thyroid could possibly be wack because my mom had the same problem around the same age.

So I finally got labs done and im low on b12, my thyroid is low, and I got the nexplanon out. Doctor gave me thyroid medication and now im finally losing weight.

Too bad I didnt figure this out until after I ballooned to over 200 lbs. I want to fucking die sometimes. I just want to get back to 135. Every time I see myself in the mirror I dont look anything like how I always see myself in my mind.

But its starting to happen now, ive lost almost 10 lbs so far and I know im going to cry when I can finally fit my dream dress.

Then again even when I was 130 lbs my boobs were still huge, so I may never fit into my dream dress unless I get a reduction, which I have been considering.

Since you have first hand experience, could you give a bit on insight into how you started ballooning?

You say you changed nothing and you gained quite a bit of weight and I know factors like b12 and thyroid complications can affect metabolism, but from what I've read hypothyroidism only contributes to around 5-10 pounds?

>The cause of the weight gain in hypothyroid individuals is also complex, and not always related to excess fat accumulation. Most of the extra weight gained in hypothyroid individuals is due to excess accumulation of salt and water. Massive weight gain is rarely associated with hypothyroidism. In general, 5-10 pounds of body weight may be attributable to the thyroid, depending on the severity of the hypothyroidism.

Soon it started being that the most I could really manage was to make myself stop gaining weight, but I wasnt losing any. It was extremely frustrating and I thought I just wasnt trying hard enough.

Any time I ate anything slightly above 1200 calories I would gain. Even when I was working at Disney and walking through the parks almost every single day I could only manage to stay my current weight.

In the past I dropped to 105lb from 155lb in 4 1/2 months. This was done by eating 600-1000cal a day, daily 2 hr workout, & excessive sleeping to fight off hunger.

3yrs later I blow up to 145lb & its a constant battle to loose weight on a more mindful diet of 1200cal with a 1 hr workout.

Slow and steady wins the race

>and keeps you from losing years of your life to medical treatment, missing school and friends, permanent heart damage that makes you pass out a lot, sleep disorder, etc etc etc

But for real if you're worried about that try a dietitian that is ok with you losing healthy weight. Try to restrict less and exercise more, but don't go ham. I'd suggest if you eat, let's say 2200 cals on a "bad day" for example, start at 1800/1900 daily and work your way down to maintenance for your goal weight. Then exercise to gain muscle and get a nice body.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat too so as you exercise you aren't gonna lose a ton of weight as much. Yet you will look wonderful.

Whilst I certainly feel very fat right now, I'm definitely not.
My BMI is still well within the healthy range even though I'm short (160cm).
A lot of people would even argue that I am a healthier weight now than I will be at my goal measurements (when I might be slightly underweight).

I'm just loosing weight for me because I want my skirts to fit, and because no one can convince me that I'm not a whale right now because over the last 10 years my weight has gradually gone from 47kg to 57kg.

I’ve had better luck reversing calorie-counting to do mealprep for a whole week in advance instead of entering calories after every little thing I eat.

This means that I figure out how many pork chops, chicken filets, bread, tuna, etc will fit into my calorie allowance. Then I buy enough for 6 days and cook it. After the food cools down, it goes into tupperwares, which I store in the fridge. Every day I eat the meal that is allotted for the day. For lunches, since I don’t have a microwave at the office to reheat, I buy ingredients for sandwiches and make them fresh. I leave enough calories to buy an extra latte and a croissant as well.

You can change it up and have 7 different meal plans for the whole week if you prefer, or plan entirely around store bought food. For me, it’s killing several birds to prep the week’s worth of meals as it’s cheap, I don’t have to count every meal’s calories, I don’t have to think about what I’m going to eat next, I don’t have to spend every evening cooking, and I do it all while knowing I’m at a calorie deficit. The only downside is you need to watch your nutrients if you’re eating the same thing every day, otherwise a nutrient deficit could become a problem by the end of the week (I use cronometer for this). I recommend taking multivitamins to help hit the RDA on the nutrients, especially those eating less calories.

I resorted to this as I can’t calorie-count. Not being in America where most of the data seems to be from is one thing, being in Asia and having imports from other Asian countries takes it to a whole new level. I once bought Tesco tuna cans that were labeled in Thai, that I can’t read. There’s entire aisles of food with no nutrition info at all. Sure, I could guess at how many calories something that used to be a fish and is now a flat crunchy snack is, but at that point I might as well roll 3 d10s and use that number for all the accuracy.

Former fatty here. Went from a 30in waist to a 24 inch at my smallest (when I was going through some serious shit that put me off my food). This took place over the course of 5 years or so.

While I looked pretty good that size my period stopped and I decided I was probably flirting on the edge of major health issues. So I gained a bit of weight, but I'm 5'2", so even gaining a couple cm looks like trash. Now I'm hovering around 66cm and feel pretty gross honestly. I walk just about everywhere or bike. Honestly though that's not an unhealthy measurement and I still fit all of my dresses, although one ancient baby skirt without shirring is tighter than I prefer. So I deal with it for the most part.

The way I did it was just not eating enough and walking everywhere, and being constantly stressed and nervy. I honestly would never recommend my way of losing weight, it's physically and mentally unhealthy and I'm lucky I didn't have any particularly bad side effects.

If you're going to lose weight do it the safe and healthy way.

So few months ago I decided I must do something and start being healthy because I do not want to end up as fat 30 yo. Actually, I'm pretty proud how it have stuck. I have over came my cravings for fastfood and cut a lot unnecessary calories and maintained a workout routine which is working. I used to feel like a fucking whale until me and my boyfriend discovered the scale we were using is not accurate and it was apparently because the bathroom floor is wonky. My weight dropped from 70kg to 65kg in seconds. And this was with lolita on. Immediately felt as I was finally having some procress even though I probably have not lost any weight but gained more muscle as I do quite heavy workout. However, I have currently gotten 5cm off my waist and almost 10 from my upper thights. My abd are also starting to show through but I have kept those in good shape anyways. Feels so fucking good.

But I must admit this have it's downsides. I'm super stressed out all the time I will gain the weight back and I am worried I will end up with eating disorder. I work out almost every day and currently I have experienced sudden loss of my strength in my other daily routines or walks. I also eat 1800 kcals per day and I'm not hungry, a lot veggies, fruits, usually eggs, chicken and porridge too. What can it be? I have had my bloodtests taken recently but nothing was found. I have other symptoms too but doctors weren't interested. I hope it's nothing serious.

I was (what I considered) chubby about a year ago, at 5'3 with a 26 inch waist and 116 lbs. I know that doesn't sound extreme or anything but the way my body is built, anything over 25 inches starts making me look kind of blocky and shapeless.

Cutting out soda, even diet soda, did a lot for me. It noticeably reduced my bloat. I recommend it to anybody as a first step. I also came to the realization that it's okay to not finish everything on my plate. I'm not sure why I felt like I needed to, maybe out of politeness or something. But after coming to that realization and only eating until I wasn't hungry anymore I ate about half of what I did before.

I lost 2 inches off of my waist within the year and I attribute it to those very simple lifestyle changes. I'm 32/24/35 (about 82/61/88) and about 105 pounds now. I think at this point I would have to start exercising a lot or seriously restrict my intake to lose much more weight. I wouldn't mind getting down to 100 lbs and 23 inches but I have a feeling that's bordering on unhealthy. Should this be my stopping point, or could I aim to lose more if I wanted to?

I'm 5'2" and as a teenager I was always between 115 and 120, but I got up to 140 my last year of high school because I stopped playing sports. At the time, my mom was being a clusterfuck about her diet and it was a wake up call. I made some progress by the time I went away to college and was back to 115, but living alone without a meal plan made me really budget my food. I used MyFitnessPal for everything. I counted obsessively. Ngl spent money on books instead of food for a bit too. I got down to 97, but I felt like absolute shit. By chance I took an elective course called diseases of eating and the crazy ED shit I learned about was a wake up call in the other direction. I was getting a little too happy about losing weight and my preoccupation with calories was getting in the way of my personality. I stopped being diligent with calorie counting for a while. I went up to 113 while studying abroad because I wanted to let go and have fun. I don't regret it because it was great food, but I wasn't being mindful of what I was eating because I was scared of turning into that Skelly person obsessed with numbers again.

After I got back, I decided that I needed a happy medium.

Now that I'm out of school and have a good job and control over what food is in my house, I hover between 105 and 110, but there's way less fluctuation than before. I don't bother with structured meals. I just grab smaller snack type things and avoid eating too much bread or dairy at once. I exercise by running and doing some barre/body weight exercises that I follow along with on YouTube. I want to join a studio so that I can go in person and be more motivated though. I'm definitely skinny fat rn. My waist is 25-26in. At my lowest, I was at 23in but I had zero ass and could still bloat so it didn't look good.

Sorry for the rambling mess, but this is where I'm at after 9 years. I'm lucky I don't have any health issues that made weight loss difficult, but it's still a constant effort.

Stop eating bread and sugar. I keep saying this but meats, fats and veggies are impossible to overeat on. (fats have a lot of calories but fill you up and keep you feeling full and don't cause sugar spikes) 9 times out of 10 you're not consuming nearly as much energy that your body stores as fat. Do watch out for proteins though because it can get turned to glucose. But that really takes a lot. Still, it's way better to have two hamburger patties and a huge salad than two normal hamburgers and a pile of fries. When in doubt, load your plate up with veggies that you like.

Well, if you want to gamify it...

- Dungeon boss is your fat, its HP is the # of pounds you need to lose
- Choose your weapon: CICO, keto, cabbage, PMSF, exercise, etc etc.
- The number of weapons you can equip depends on how many you can juggle together (eg keto isn't compatible with the cabbage diet)
- Every morning, roll the weighing machine to see how much HP you knocked off
- If you break your weapon you lose the roll, the boss regains HP (your weight comes back)
- If you did everything right but your period rolls in, dungeon boss has cast a Stop spell, you progress really slowly for a few turns (days)
- Game over when the dungeon boss either loses all his HP ( congrats!) or doubles his HP (in which case you should probably call up a psychiatrist or something, because gamifying is clearly not working....)

It's a slow, grinding game because it's freemium (hah). To speed things up, you'll have to pay real money for a liposuction.

When you defeat the dungeon boss buy yourself a new dress as loot.

If you really want to I guess you could go all the way and draw up a statblock, dungeon map... whatever helps?

The very nature of a pear shape gives you thicker thighs and wider hips. Calves aren't your entire leg. Do you even into proportions.

>slight pear
Then say slight pear. Realistically anyone who is petite with an average or smaller bust is an idea candidate for Lolita, actual pear shapes would most likely have issues with tights fitting properly. Sure you can hide your hips under a petticoat but what about warped patterns on OTKs and tights?

Feels awful. I’ve been trying so hard to get back to where I was but it’s such a slow process. The scale only shows I’ve lost 2lbs in the past year, but thankfully I’m getting that lost muscle back quick so I’m not sure how much I’ve actually lost, but it’s more than 2lbs. I just want so badly to be back where I was, I hate feeling bloated all the time. I’m wearing the same size pants, but they’ve gotten so uncomfortable and now I have muffin tops over them. For the past year I’ve been going to a gym 3-5x per week and have made good changes to my diet such as cutting sugar and empty carbs, but I feel like snacking at work keeps sabotaging me. However, I measured myself today and felt a little more hopeful; only 4cm away on both my bust and waist measurements to get me back where I was! Any advice on how to break a plateau is very welcome; I feel like even if I lose just a couple pounds of fat then already I'll look much better in lolita, but I just can't seem to make any major break-throughs.

Seems silly, but it works.

I used to be that girl that finished not only her meal at restaurants but her friends' meals too. Over time, I slowly decreased the portions I ate, but even recently I realized that those decreased portions were still more than my body needed and if I just took my time to eat I'd consume a lot less food overall.

Smaller plates are very helpful in this regard because when you load up food on a big plate, it seems like the plate is empty even when the portion is perfect. You can safely completely fill a small plate and still get a reasonable portion of food.

It also helps to take your time when eating. If you scarf down your meal your brain won't clue in that you're already full and you end up overeating. I like to eat my small portion and then wait. Sometimes I actually feel a bit hungry at the end of the meal so I give it 10-15 mins. If I still feel hungry then I get a little bit more, but I've been pleasantly surprised to discover I actually don't need to eat more 9/10 times.

And on finishing your plate: don't. Get a take-out box or tupperware and save it for later.

Other stuff I did that helped me: it's me and my husband at home, so we stopped buying junk food. I've found that with few exception (craving a bit of chocolate during my period) I don't even want junk food anymore, even when I have the opportunity to buy it. I also drink lots of water. I've heard that apparently there's times when thirst will feel like hunger. Idk how true that is but it's good to drink water anyways. Tea is good too. We walk and bike when we can, and hopefully I can introduce weights in at some point. In the span of a month and a half I've lost 5 lbs and 2 cm off my waist. It's not a huge change but it actually makes me very happy because my clothes fit so much better already, and I have so much more energy it's shocking.

So far I've just lost a pound, but I've been walking everyday for 30 min-1 hr time periods at a moderate pace (I live a sedentary lifestyle), counting calories and eating lots of veggies, and drinking lots of water. I've been doing this for three days, so one pound is not too bad! For now I'm thinking of losing up to 20 pounds, but 120's is already considered a healthy weight for someone my size so might as well push it to that range. I want to quit the fatty-chan life already.

I have a low BMI but all the fat I have goes to my ass. Like, I have almost no boob, small waist, BUT MY ASS IS SO BIG. At least having a big ass is popular right now I guess. But I feel embarrassed going out because I am the only one who looks so disproportionate. I pretty much only wear dresses because they cover it up. I can't wear shorts because my waist and hip measurements aren't the same size, which sucks because I really like shorts. I know targeted weight loss isn't a thing, so maybe gaining weight and hoping it goes to my boobs would be a better solution OTL but that could backfire SO BAD. Losing any more would make me unhealthy though. I heard birth control makes the fat center at your boobs more..? Am I going to have this shape forever ;___; Maybe it's not as big of a deal as I think it is but it really bothers me and it's hard to wear a lot of clothes, especially jp fashion...

Excuse the humble-brag shitters, anon. I can understand this, ESPECIALLY in J-fash, where items are made to fit a pretty 'flat board' frame.

It made me incredibly upset (not really insecure though?) when I was younger, because it sucks to find the perfect piece and then it doesn't fit. It starts to feel like you just CAN'T wear what you like.
You've just got to learn to look at it differently; You've got a universally attractive bodytype and are healthy! Just figure out how to dress to both your preferred style and bodytype.

My measurements always hover around 36-25-40. Finding clothing which is fitted at the waist and hip off-the-rack is virtually impossible. I sure as shit can't wear j-fash unless it's dresses which flair from the waist down. Eventually I learned how to sew, so I can make my own stuff and take in commercial clothing.

I'm trying to lose just a bit of weight (like 10-15 pounds), but god it's a pain in the ass since I used to have an overpowered metabolism back in high school. I've completely revamped my diet and I'm definitely feeling better for it, but even that with a daily sit-up/crunches routine it didn't do much for my sad, bloated belly (curse my genes for all weight gain going to the stomach). I know it's not even as bad as I think, but it's frustrating going from a flat stomach to a lil blob just staring me down every day. I've ordered an exercise bike since I've heard that cardio is more helpful with general weight loss, so hopefully that'll help me see some results! In the meantime I'll just hide my secret chub behind my petticoats.

Anyway, here's my weightloss-relevant post.

I've seen it said a million times already but it can never be over-stated: BMI means jack shit. Muscle weighs more than fat, and the more muscle you have the more fat you burn at your base metabolic rate.
Start resistance training and MEASURING your body every week alongside your weigh-ins.

If you find yourself regularly going over your daily limit of calories, set your calorie-counter to 1000kcal. When you go over it won't be a big deal, but you'll still get that warning before you ACTUALLY go over. (I hope that this makes sense.)

A good idea if you work through the day is to eat:
>Carbs at breakfast. Gets you up and going.
>Protein for lunch. You're likely going to burn the most energy after lunch at an active job, and do any exercise after work.
>Fat for dinner. Keeps you full so that you don't snack at night, and makes you comfy and sleepy.

You'd have an argument if you were a man. But BMI works for women because we don't build as much muscle as men. Unless you're shooting up roids, if you're a female and over 25 bmi you're going to be able to lose a few pounds of fat.

Aww man, I know it's kinda pointless to make comparisons, but I'm the same height and at 135 lbs I had a 72 cm waist. Sometimes my weight distribution frustrates me. I look kinda rectangular from the front cause I have a small underbust and hips though my measurements would indicate pear (it's all thighs and butt tho). My waist tends to completely disappear when I gain more than that. I just want a nice small waist. I don't mind losing more weight for it, but the problem is that even at 135 I will have protruding ribs, clavicles and hip bones. I lose more than that and my sternum will have that ridge-y look to it. But I'll still have a (relative to the rest of me) big waist and my thighs will rub and give me rashes.

Basically, I just want my waist and thighs to be more normal without my torso looking emaciated with bones everywhere. But like >>9550340 said I might just have to accept my bone structure/fat distribution being what it is.

When I worked out nearly every day (took a fitness class in high school) I was at 125 lbs and then I did actually have a 66 cm waist! I looked and felt amazing so I'm hoping to get there again. I don't wanna be skinny fat though, so I plan on doing some fun cardio (roller blading, hula hoop, DDR) and lifting 3x a week. My teacher in fitness had us doing this, as well as other good stuff, and it really made a difference in how strong and healthy I was at the time.

>stretchy as shit materials
>high waisted shorts are flattering and easier to fit correctly. My favourite pair came from the thrift store and is by Tommy Hilfiger
>If you sew, adjust patterns and clothing to fit

There's also places that cater to different body types with different fits of jeans and shorts. I've seen Fashion Nova being touted on insta and they're quite cheap (under $40) but I haven't had the chance to try them yet. Aw thanks! And don't worry too much--it is definitely a bummer to get posted in the ita thread, but I'm trying to get better with each coord. It's just been a long time since I've been able to wear lolita, so I'm a little rusty.
Posting my pics to CoF has been my way of helping build back my confidence, because I have years of my life with barely any photographs of myself out of embarrasment. I just took on an extra side job recently, so hopefully that'll allow me to start rebuilding my wardrobe soon! I'm tired of having to mix my plus-size normie clothes into my coords, but it's all I had that fit me for years that got even close to the aesthetic I liked, and replacing an entire closet of clothes (including normie work clothes and the like) from size 22 down to size 8/10 costs a lot of money and time.
My biggest complaint honestly is my stupid shoes. Losing that much weight actually took me down a half shoe size (from an 11 to a 10.5), but now all my shoes look like clown shoes on me. I'm trying to find some shoes that can work in the meantime though.

The joys of low BP. Two doctors and a battery of blood tests and no one can find why my blood pressure is low and I'm constantly tired.

Fruits are my thing. I've cut down because of the calorie counting, but I used to have at least one serving per (as in along with my) meal- blueberries in the morning, a pear or orange with lunch, and melons or lychee after dinner, with a big thing of tangerines in the fridge for snacks. Now I'm at two servings with blueberries in breakfast and a pear or an orange after lunch.

Even back before cutting calories, however, I was constantly tired. I was worried I might be pre diabetic because how could I possibly still have hypoglycemia after all that fruit? But at least the tests came back negative. Negative for lupus which was my other worry. The weird thing? I'd get massive sugar crashes from things like those cold pressed fruit juices. Like seriously needing to lie down because I could feel my heart slamming against my chest.

So yeah. Low blood pressure even without dieting, now with dieting it's like my body has officially declared jihad on me. Can't wait for this blasted heat to go away so I can walk everywhere again and eat when I'm hungry.

But I'm going to try doing what you said and maybe upping my protein intake. Instead of just having it for dinner I'm going to try and work in dome eggs in the morning and something into lunch. Thanks for the tip!

Did you ask your doctor about salt and water intake? As much as people are like "Eat less sodium because bloating, high blood pressure..." having MORE salt is one of the recommendations my doctor makes for people who suffer with low blood pressure as long as you don't have too much family history of heart problems or high blood pressure. I get drops in blood pressure, low enough that I've been admitted to hospital twice for fainting and taking ages to come around, and the specialist and GP I saw both recommended increasing my salt/water intake on hot days which is when it happened. If I am really struggling to drink my target (in summer usually 1500mL water and an extra 500-1000mL for every hour of exercise, because on hot days you can lose up to a litre exercising) I will make up the zero-cal sports drinks for the electrolytes. Salt also influences the way your body absorbs sugars, apparently, but idk if it will help that much with the crashes. You're only doing cardio is the problem and only exercising half of your body when you bike, also 15km is bascially nothing on a bicycle. You need to change what cardio you do - try something that's more HIIT or interval training and has body weight stuff built into it, and focus on also improving your strength. I'd recommend: swimming with a goal of improving your lap times, Pop Pilates (won't burn a heap of calories but will help strength), Insanity, Darebee.

>>9551166
Situps are not going to do anything just for your tummy. Spot reduction/spot loss is a complete myth. You need to do cardio AND change your diet to get the flat stomach back, a bike is a good start but whole body stuff like swimming is better, jogging and sprints are also better as you are using more muscles compared to a bike which is generally just your legs so doesn't even really target your core muscles at all.

>>9551050
There are good modifiers for burpees and planks - one of the easiest is to have your hands elevated if you can't manage the press up component of a burpee or holding a plank without the knee support, because you can still practice the proper form with your core tight and straight and knees straight rather than altering the actual movement too much.

>>9551047
Completely change it up. If you mainly focus on cardio get in the weights room, if you only do free weights do some body weight sets, if you know you rest too much at the gym then force yourself to go for half an hour without stopping, if you generally try to push on through then dial it back and focus on technique. Also going on a keto/no-carb diet for a week or two has really helped some people I know but you can just gain it back eating all the carbs once you stop because you end up getting mad carb cravings, and really you need to be strict about your fat/protein/carb ratios as well.

There's no need. But there's no point in keeping yourself from enjoying things that you did every once in awhile. Sugar/glucose spikes insulin and is highly addictive and leads to all kinds of issues. Aw, congrats! You look fantastic. I was at my heaviest (hovering near 280lbs) in December, but I've been losing, so we're in the same boat. I'm still an obese fatty-chan, sob, but you've definitely inspired me to not give up. Can I ask if/where you plateaued on your loss? I'm about 58 pounds down now, and I'm starting to lose less, like a pound or so a week.

I've mostly made the same adjustments, when I started out, I just ate smaller portions and let my stomach be hungry until next mealtime, but I never really ate that much anyway. Also, I have always hated fast food, pizza, potatoes, etc. because of my sensitivities to certain food, which makes it even harder for me to continue cutting stuff out. I staved off the hunger with ice water+lemon and the occasional granola bar.
I haven't kicked sugar yet... I just can't find any substitutes that I like well enough and sweets are my guiltiest pleasure. I don't think I'll ever give them up totally, even if it means a little bit of extra work or a little extra flab, but damn I want to stop using sugar every time I want a cup of tea.

I lost weight but I'm still really fat so what's you gulls' favorite sugar substitute?

I am around 1000 cals a day but I definitely had to work down. You may be going through withdrawals if you used to eat a ton of junk. It took me a while to conquer cravings for similar reasons. Finding healthy replacements to things you used to eat a lot helps. I replaced a lot of candy with nuts and fruits. It was hard in the beginning but eventually it became bearable and now I don't have cravings or shakes or anything.

seriously if you want to lose weight follow these easy steps. i used to be a fat fuck and i followed this system and it worked perfectly for me:

1. wait until you are on summer break or any sort of break that lets you take a month off of strenous work
2. anytime you feel like you are getting hungry, or feel like eating something, without even flinching stop what you are doing and chug exactly 1 entire bottle of water as fast as you possibly can.
3. the water fills your stomach and your hunger craving instantly goes away.
4. no matter what keep repeating this process, you will be going through a lot of water a day and peeing alot but you will not be hungry and your metabolism will fix itself after around 20-30 days. you will look very skinny and you will instantly rid yourself of your life long "fat problem". oh yeah you will be feeling very weak (not hungry, just weak) so every couple days have urself a thing of rice or one little tiny carb based meal so you can rebuild your energy for the next couple days.

this works because your body starts eating your fat. seriously after 20-30 days you will go from a fat fuck to literally skinny. I did this when i was in highschool during a summer break and everyone was amazed at how i went from being the fat kid all my life to slim and fit looking. I'm a boy btw, i don't know if this works for girls you guys might miss a period or not be able to have babies anymore or something.

No, it's more the fact that you could end up vitamin/mineral deficient if you are basically just living off water AND you'd also be using muscle, which isn't exactly a good thing. Your body doesn't just "eat fat" when it's starving even if you are fat.
There's better, less risky ways to lose weight than not eating at all.

But what about when the stomach sticking out is caused by a lack of muscle tone, not by excess fat? I've been severely underweight, 16.5 BMI, and had a stomach that wasn't flat. When you have no muscle tone nothing holds it back.

I'm not saying don't strengthen your core, just that you need a combination of exercises including the cardio - and it's more than just the front rectus muscle you need to work, your lower back and obliques are also important. It is also possible to carry a relatively high bodyfat percentage even underweight which IS diet and exercise related, and your lack of any idea about core exercises makes me think you were pretty much sedentary and therefore still had that highish body fat. Also if you were basically starving yourself at the time you were underweight and didn't get enough protein, that would also explain the belly. Check out pop pilates and Darebee, darebee has some workouts showing you which exercises target which core muscles and the whole website is geared towards accessible exercise.

I really like Kait Coats on yt (some of her Pilates stuff is also on Amazon Prime) as well as Mari Windsor (you can find her stuff on yt pretty easily). I've lost at least twenty pounds, but the real results to me are just how good and toned my body looks now, especially my legs and abs. I finally lost the small lower belly pooch I had, and my cellulite is basically gone. For reference I wasn't that overwhelmingly fat before starting, just had stubborn problem areas that are no longer a problem for me. It's been great. Upping my protein intake definitely helped too.

At a BMI that low, you're not going to be skinnyfat so much as having pretty much no fat *and* no muscle. Something like 18, yeah, but not 16.5. And no, I didn't have a pot belly because I was a starving African child whose belly was filled with air, might have had low-ish protein intake when I was dropping but I stayed below 17 for ages while eating at maintenance (not enough to gain but def not starving myself).

I'll check Darebee out though, I'm particularly curious because I've noticed my gut's sticking out more since summer started (I've been a healthy weight for a couple of years but I've been pretty much sedentary since college broke up, since I work from home and have no need to leave the house), even though my weight and body fat and other measurements are pretty much the same. I feel like my muscles are wasting away but I live in an awful area with no amenities and access to transport so it's difficult for me to do more than floor exercises.

I do cardio twice a week (running or cycling). I'm in good shape and my body feels great.

>where once in awhile you eat something you like
I wish there weren't this stigma of healthy food tasting bad. Many of my favorite foods are low in calories and high in vitamins (vegetables). So yes I have a normal diet while still being satisfied with my weight. Exercise regimen is minor and inconsistent, I enjoy walking and hiking and sometimes do situps and pushups when I feel like it. BMI, not looking to lose.

I'm here since I pretty much have the same issue as the above anon, thin but bloated belly. I don't think it's fat since it isn't very squishy, it's significantly firmer than fatty areas like boobs. I also look low-fat in general, my muscles are pretty well defined for a female despite being small and I'm bony. Not sure if it's because I eat too much, due to my aforementioned dietary preferences I consume a lot of fiber. I tried following a low-fiber diet once but that didn't really last long, there aren't many foods I like that are healthy but not fibrous and I don't want to eat gross junk food. Tried a low-FODMAP diet for maybe a month but that didn't seem to do anything, I didn't fully eliminate them though, just significantly reduced. Will try toning my core, I don't do much dedicated exercise (as in for the purpose of exercising, not just recreation) so maybe that would help.

me here but I just popped into the thread out of curiosity

I cook all my own food, get my 5 a day, whatever but I'm not low-carb or high-fat or anything faddy. I don't have a sweet tooth and I don't keep unhealthy snacks in the house so I don't get tempted by them. I don't feel like I'm missing out because I genuinely like vegetables, and I have desserts on special occasions like meets or visiting family. I never have sugary drinks unless I'm outside the house either (except sometimes coffee/cocoa with sugar), I mostly drink tea and water. Since what I cook is healthy I basically just manage my weight with portion control - if I notice I'm losing weight (stressful week, skipping meals, w/e) I consciously try to eat more, get more cavalier about snacks, put a bit of extra oil in my pasta, etc, whereas if I notice I'm gaining I'll make sure I stop eating when I'm full, try to cook in the minimum amount of oil possible, avoiding eating out, etc.

I don't calorie count (just avoid most sugar and things fatty enough to make me feel uncomfortable/nauseous), but I have the protein content of various foods memorised and watch my protein intake so I get above 50g/day (the adult womens' RI). I watch iron as well because I eat mostly vegetarian and was anaemic in HS.

Works for me. I've been skinny all my life but I would say my weight fluctuates quite a bit (I mostly hover around 53kg, 48-56kg at the most), partly because I don't exercise much. I used to stay fit by walking everywhere but like >>9553309 I end up getting really unfit when I'm home for the holidays because I don't need to walk to uni or do my own shopping. It's hard because I'm cheap but (other than walking) I only like adrenaline rush activities like ice skating and windsurfing that I can't afford. I'm trying to force myself to spend money on getting back into rock climbing because I really want to build my core+upper body strength.

Basically I eat what I want and don't suffer, but that's because I actually like healthy food and rarely/never crave junk food. Eating healthily most of the time means I'm slim enough that my weight isn't going to be affected by occasional indulgences like buying a favourite snack when it's on offer in a supermarket, so I never feel deprived or like I'm on a diet. I'm also one of those people who loses appetite/motivation when they're stressed instead of comfort eating, and I save/savor favourite foods instead of binge-eating them, which helps a ton. I have virtually no motivation to exercise though (not even aesthetics, lolitas look better skinnyfat than muscular) so I'm trying to work on that. My fitness motivation used to be "being able to run for the bus without look undignified and getting sweaty and out of breath", but I don't get public transport any more so I need a better motivator.

I used to live near a large lake and I loved windsurfing (and to a lesser degree, sailing and kayaking) as a kid, but it's like, 50 miles to the nearest place I can do watersports now and I don't even have a car. I miss it, but I don't miss doing it in winter, ha.

I know my university has some sort of watersports club but it's a huge time/money investment, they have a minibus to take people there but you have to pay for the full year upfront even if you only want to go to a few sessions, which would cost hundreds, and I'd have to commit to losing most of every Saturday all year for training. Not a smart plan when I'm going into my finals year.

There is a rock climbing place in my city, but it's relatively expensive and pretty far from my house without any direct public transport there (I'd have to get 2 buses sort of deal, which would also be expensive). I did climbing when I was younger too and was one of the best in the club (could have entered regionals) but, again, the wall was a long way from my house and I had to quit because my parents couldn't afford to pay for sessions and drive me there any more. I still regret it and really want to get back into it, but I feel dispirited when I try because my upper body strength is so bad now. Everything used to be really easy for me and I could climb anything without much effort, but now it's so difficult it barely seems fun. Like, I know the whole point of climbing is to build my upper body strength back up, but I can't help comparing myself to my former level and feeling crap.

As always it's not as simple as that. While starving you'd lose much more fat than muscle. But losing muscle is still not ideal.

Ideal for max muscle retention is obviously eating at a deficient while doing cardio/weights. As your body won't break down the muscles it's using.

Really, a lot of it is your diet and exercise but it isn't everything. I used to think the same way, but there's so much to also take into account, such as an individual's metabolic rate, other heath disorders, genetics (yes, genetics), bone structure, etc.
Of course, most of that is fairly obvious, but it's things that these boards want to push aside like they don't exist and every fat person is just funneling food into their mouths. That happens, yeah. It's kind of distressing though that people are so quick to blame everything on the fat when it's seriously around 50/50 that there are underlying problems where the fat is the effect, not the cause.
Carbs also shouldn't promote fat retention unless you're shoveling them every single day in elevated quantities. And then, it's mostly the processed sugars in those things. The fat just kind of packs on in layers if you're shoveling sugars, making it much more difficult to lose.

Sorry for two long posts back to back but you'll for sure be skinnyfat if you do that. You'll still have more bodyfat too, particularly in your midsection. Eventually, your organs will shit out on you too, and you'll gain weight. Prolonged behavior like eating nothing but, as you said, 1000 calories of junk a day, will catch up with you. It may not be immediate, but no matter how much you exercise, your body knows what's up. Unless that metaphorical person changes habits, they're going to die at 30 of a heart attack, despite being at a normal-overweight range. Just because it doesn't show up on the outside doesn't mean that the person is healthy. A 100 pound person eating 1,200 calories in junk a day for a year is ultimately more visually appealing to most people, but they are really less internally healthy than someone 200 pounds eating 1,200 calories of balanced meals per day for a year.
