So does anyone else do a lolita spring cleaning of sorts? I just cleared out my closet of all my winter items to put in storage (mainly because I'm moving soon) and it's made my closet so much easier to look through that I'm thinking of doing it every fall and spring for the season change.

AFAIK they're all made of the same stretch jersey but there might be difference in the exact shade of some colours, e.g. burgundy between different boleros as well.

>>9531919
I don't really bother because I only have two or three winter-specific items (one capelet, two pairs of earmuffs and a coat). Everything else gets used year-round, even velvet and berets if it's not too hot.

My wardrobe has two sides, so I put all the oldschool items on one side and all the newschool items on the other. I then organise it Outerwear->Blouses->Dresses->Skirts, with each category separated by colour as well.

Easiest way to look that up would be to go to lolibrary or second-hand sites and check if the measurements are different or something, but it's hard because IW have always done those in different sizes and have some deliberately different cuts (e.g. the short-sleeved, half-sleeved and princess sleeved versions).

>velvet and berets if it's not too hot
I have quite a few snow prints that I prefer to wear when we actually have snow and my velvets are way too hot. I did keep my berets out, but I don't find them especially warm.
But I find myself sticking to bright colors in the summer like pastels and bright red/blue and sailor outfits because it just feels so much fun to wear summer outfits in summer. I've noticed I don't touch my fall colors until fall even though some of them are my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Maybe it's why I love winter so much? Wearing them in summer just makes it more sad for me that it's not winter.

Ah, I love Sugar Dream Dome and some other wintry prints but I look horrible in cool colours like ice blue and silver so I don't own anything I absolutely cannot wear in summer. I've owned Christmas-specific prints before but they were all made of materials like velveteen that could crease if folded for storage, so I had to keep them hanging year-round.

I pretty much just box up my lolita gloves, scarves and woolly hats along with my normie winter accessories, and don't bother putting away anything else. I keep my coat around in case we have a spate of horrible weather and I need it, and I never felt like there was any point putting my capelet into storage by itself.

They get away with dressing pretty casually. At Harajuku Hearts they do casual Jgoth a lot, and at Baby they need to wear Baby or Aaup but they sometimes will wear something more punk or won't wear a petti or headwear or matching shoes.

I guess the difference between BtSSB SF and AP SF and BtSSB NY is that AP also has it's Harajuku Hearts side and BtSSB is ran by the people who run Tokyo Rebel, if I recall. When you stock both lolita fashion and other tokyo street fashions, I don't think it's really breaking the mood to not be in lolita. I always see staff in BtSSB NY videos wearing lolita, so that's confusing to me.
>>9532044
I wonder if it has anything to do with all the shipments and taxes. Lolita is Japan just seems extremely cheaper overall, especially secondhand.

I wouldn't dream about it if I were you. It might feel ideal but it basically combines working retail and all the bullshit that comes with it, with the bullshit you have to put up with in lolita.
I recall there were posts by employees (or anons that claimed to be) about people waltzing into the store and complaining about it being a store "for pedophiles", and another instance when a lady complained when the clothes didn't fit her little girl (because surprise, the clothes aren't meant to fit little girls at all). Because it's all anon you can't know for sure whether these anecdotes were true but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

>> No.9532128

>>9531919

I thought that was why the egl wardrobe post was so popular. Girls used the theme to clear out their wardrobes, and the sales comm gets a boost from all the dresses they no longer want.

Nowadays the wardrobe post is more about showing off how much you own, and it's gotten to where some girls do it in the middle of the year. The wardrobe post used to be done in Jan as it's the beginning of a new year and the traditional time to review and reorganise.

>> No.9532205

I feel like wardrobe posts have always served a number of purposes. Personally I use them to take stock of what I have, what I need, and what doesn't fit in with the rest. I feel bad for admitting it, but I do use it to brag a little because I'm proud of my wardrobe, and to find people who have a similar sense of style.

Posting in the middle of the year is silly though.

This absolutely kills me about the whole exchange. The customer is not a seamstress or tailor, that's why she is hiring a seamstress to alter her garment.

The customer was not clear, it's true, but if you are marketing yourself as a custom boutique catering to people who spend hundreds of dollars per garment (and are willing to spend hundreds more having them altered) it seems like it'd be reasonable to expect you to have your shit together enough to ask for clarification when needed. I'm surprised this boutique doesn't provide their customers with diagrams of dresses to mark off specifically where they want altered.

What do their terms of sales say? I know some sellers have said on cgl before that they clearly state they take one or two weeks to ship because they work and can't just be at the post office any day the buyer wants, so if you bought from someone with those terms of sale, at least wait until those 1-2 weeks are up.

You can also google her pp address, her username or other things and see if you can locate her fb, blog, someone else who had contact with her. If she's more active on another blog you can politely drop an "excuse me, about that item I bought" and maybe get a response that way.

If both of the above fail, I'd give it another week then file a pp claim. Then, **wait a few days** to see if she responds, if she does, negotiate when she should ship (absolutely do not close the pp claim until you have a working tracking number if you reach this point. You cannot reopen a claim once you close it), then take it from there. If she doesn't respond after a few days, paypal will find in your favour. After that, leave bad feedback and mention that seller is unresponsive.

If you hit the point where you need to leave bad feedback because it's been a month since the sale, you've filed your claim and she still hasn't responded, be polite. Note that you're not sure what happened to the seller and you wish her well, and that the bad feedback is just to warn other buyers of potential problems. You never really know if the seller just got into an accident and was hospitalised so they can't read your messages or ship your dress, so don't be some raging war bitch, just politely say it's a mystery, other buyers beware.

Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.

There's this fucking annoying girl in my Texas comm. She's loud and obnoxious, and no one likes her. When she notices that someone doesn't like her (but doesn't quite hate her yet), she gets overfamiliar and touchyfeely with them in an attempt to strong-arm them into liking her. She tries to be a leader, but no one wants to follow. She's a living embodiment of "fake it 'til you make it" except that she's not making it, and her fakeness is blatantly obvious to everyone. She's seriously botching all her social connections, and no one wants to be around her. I have a high tolerance for socially inept behavior, but it's wearing thin. So, so thin. I've been standoffishly polite and curt, but she just doesn't take the fucking hint and will not leave me alone. When other girls get exasperated with her, they look to me for help -- as if I'm her fucking handler. Can't kick her out since she hasn't done anything besides being an annoying twat.

I am too lazy to dig through her posts and comments but back in the day she was insufferable. Her pretention and condescending attitude made me dislike her. In addition to that I bought a dress from her and it reeked of BO which made me dislike her more.
And for seagulls who care for where the "Jane Marple hates Lolita and does not consider themselves a Lolita brand" idea stems from: it is from her. She is the biggest snob when it has to do with Jane Marple and ETC.

Or maybe im being triggered. I bought a "new" workbook on on a book site. The book shipped late, didnt have a wrap and looked thumbed through but still fairly new. In my review I wrote that. The shop tried to belittle/bully me through email. Then offered me a few bucks if I changed the review. I dont monitor my email so I didnt see the offer until days later. Those dresses are popular with fat girls because they can fit their bellies inside of them but the cut isn't intended for that look. It's actually intended for much thinner than normal Lolita so that it can hang from your upper torso and flow elegantly, giving an airy and flighty impression. Hey gulls, I just inherited several bolts of professional-grade, high-quality linen meant for women's suiting. I've wash tested it and the colors are locked, it can even go through the dryer.

Would it be "weird" to make Lolita JSKs out of this linen for summer? I have never seen a brand make a dress out of linen, but I live in a very hold place and want to expand the "temperature window" for being able to wear Lolita. The colors I have are: petal pink, bright flamingo pink, Denim-grey blue, sky blue. I was thinking that a solid color Oldschool might be best.

I think some of Physical Drop caters to plus size, so it might be what you're looking at.

I'm looking for a print I'm genuinely starting to think I made up because I saw it once and never again and I've looked high and low. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, PLEASE help me find the print name!

>library/book print
>offbrand I'm pretty sure
>Not just a row of books lining a shelf like a lot of other library prints
>it's got a library layout along the bottom of the skirt? Like you can see the shelf structure and the floor and shit
>It might have cats on it but I might have made that up. I can't remember, it's been like 6 months.
>pls help

Okay I've found something that might help, it looked a lot like this photo of Chocolate Library, but not the actual Chocolate Library Dress. (The actual dress of this photo is made with stripes, the dress I'm thinking of did not have stripes... I think)

If we talking about major brands it would be Moite for me simply because it doesn't fit my taste at all. I think their designs are reptitive and the same everytime. Just not my cup of tea.

Because they're like $20 on Taobao right now? I have secondhand dresses that cost about that much, yes, but they're actual brand and I don't want to constantly worry about sitting down somewhere dirty or brushing against something that would stain/tug/etc on the dress.

I like the Holy Lantern print but I wouldn't want to actually buy one of the actual dresses because I'd want to wear it casually around like I do my cheap normie dresses. No sense in buying a $150+ dress if I know I'm going to wreck it in a month or two.

Besides, I plan on taking apart this replica eventually and making a cute dress for my dog.

Moitie. Doesn't fit my aesthetic or taste at all and all the prints are just gates and cursive writing. Most of their stuff reminds me of like... a 13 year old emo's first high school dance dress.

based on your first description I thought of meta's secret laboratory (you can see the ladders, library floor and setup plus kitties) but it doesn't look like chocolate library
hope you find your print anon

What the fuck, how do you wreck a dress so fast?
Even my primark shit lasts years.

I'm really outdoorsy and I know if I ever got tired of the real one and tried to resell it that the resale value would be shot from snagged threads and probably some trim damage. I'm used to wearing denims so I don't really stop to think I probably shouldn't sit down on certain things or do certain things like clean/play with my animals in a fairly delicate dress where even small flaws knock a good $50 off the value.

I don't mean I'm going to utterly destroy it in a month or two, just ruin the investment since I don't want it to sit in a closet and not get worn out as a daily outfit since I've got boots and a leather jacket to match it.

Juliette and Justine. It's so ugly in general especially those painting dresses, they're awful.
I wear both AP and Moitié but sometimes they also have really ugly/repetitive stuff that either looks childish as hell or something my 13yo emo self would wear.

Old tradition:

Book stores, libraries and printers, basically anywhere that had large stores of paper, would keep a cat to catch the vermin that showed up to chew on it (roaches, rats, what have you). At least, that's what I was told as a kid by the librarian, and a professor at uni.

It's interesting to note that Kuniko Kato was a key personnel of Metamorphose in the past.

The back of the same dress being worn.

I vaguely recall her saying she wanted to design more dresses for lolita on the day-to-day basis, especially for people her age.
