Tbh, I don't want to call them themes because it's harder to pronounce. Besides, most guides refer to them as substyles because that's what people called it in the beginning. Maybe to native English speakers, "substyle" has a different meaning and "theme" sounds more logical. But we have several English and Japanese words that we use when talking about lolita in our own language, and a lot of them don't make much sense if you obsess over the literal meaning. Should we change all those words too?

That would depend on if the outfit.

The thing with country is you can do multiple themes with it, but generally I've seen country as either classic or a sweet classic blend depending on the dress and accessories

I think i liked how she had a cohesive style of her own and DGAF.

I personally like it if it is a cohesive coord. I think people reject it right away due to it being part of the steampunk community. To which, who cares? If someone is wearing steampunk themed lolita to events yet following the basic guidelines, should there really be as much of a fuss?
I've met Japanese students who call sweet "pink Lolita" still or do say "Alice lolita/Pirate lolita," I'm not seeing the big deal.
