Describe your favorite lolita aesthetic

>pic related
I like pastel, especially with black. I also really like candy and ice cream on things. My favorite dresses are Milky Planet, Sugary Carnival, Holy Lantern, and Twinkle Mermaid.

>> No.9468340

Not necessarily old school (although I do really like old school), but either solid pieces or "generic" prints, such as gingham. I've never really been a fan of prints and I lean towards classic/sweet classic

>> No.9468384

Old school oriented aesthetic in general, mainly pastels, solid pieces but vertical stripes, little polka dots or even gingham are appreciated.
if prints mainly flowers or sweets (biscuits, chocolate, cake). I like to have a "dreamy like" aesthetic,as in looking kinda "out of this world".
I also take inspo from old shoujo mangas

It's kinda confusing to explain but here I go:
Mainly old school but it can have a tad of that 2009-2011 sweet (none of the rainbow wigs,falsies,...madness, just the prints)
I like looking doll like or as if I was coming right from a storybook. But I also try to get that "I might dress cute but don't mess with me" vibe that girls had in older Kera streetsnaps (pic related) even though I probably fail at it ;_;
So, to resume it, it would be "cute, feminine, but with an unexpected daring side"

>> No.9468421

I really like unusual prints like liefs new tulip jsk, pumpkin cats whales dress, and pumpkin cats dragons hoard. I wish someone would release a detailed print with bats the way they do with cats and bunnies! I havent really figured out a color theme but i like sweet that isnt too bright or pastel.

Would it kill cgl to at least try to treat this like an image board? It shouldn't be hard to post a basic example picture along with your comments, especially on a thread about aesthetic. It just makes for a higher quality thread. Not OP btw just salty

Old school is one of the only things that makes me go "That's what lolita really is! That's the aesthetic!" but I like all sorts of styles. I like it when a dress fits a girl really well and it forms a neat silhouette that's tight on the bodice and flares from the natural waist, and I like it when a girl has flattering natural make-up or gothic make-up. I wear a lot of severe gothic but I actually really appreciate fairy kei inspired pastel sweet, and floaty cult party kei inspired coords (on the rare occasion they're done well).

I also really like the rebellious vibe >>9468404 mentioned even though I'm not rebellious at all - I love shots of lolitas just hanging out together (pic related), rather than having structured interactions like meets. It makes me feel nostalgic even though I never got to do that sort of thing as a teen.

Sweet lolita, specially toned down sweet and a convination between sweet and classic. Some more juvenile (but not yet sweet) classic dresses are also very lovely to me. No ott classic though.
I swear that when I first learned about the fashion I was yearning for a gothic look. I was never into the ott deco crazy era of sweet lolita with a bunch of multicolored wigs, toy prints and plastic accesories, I never liked them (not saying that it cannot look good, I just don't like it on myself). After a long hiatus in lolita, I got into it again a year ago, and I'm really thankful that many people seem to be taking sweet into a more relaxed route.
And I might be one of the few who really like one or two new prints by AP. I love muted colors and the ethereal feel of some dresses.

my other favorite things are rich velveteen coords, and colorful sherbert-y cake things like pic related and the bodice bows on baby's new milky way jsk.

I miss the old school idea of nothing needed to match perfectly. Outfits were about the feeling of what it was to wear it and the feeling of how it looked together. Cohesiveness wasn't really important.

There's something so fun and lively about this era of old school.

Takulu and Unu are my ideal lolita aesthetic. Fun, pastel, OTT coordinates with candy colored wigs and unique accessories.

I also admired Faunkegin's sweet yet very wearable Lolita style.

My aesthetic is 2009 sweet

>> No.9470413

>>9470133
yeah, this to me was what gave lolita its 'punk' feeling. there was a real idgaf mentality to lolita originally. it wasn't about matching your outfit impeccably in order to impress your peers, but more like following your own fashion instincts. you can see it really clearly in the old street snaps, there was an air of individuality to every outfit. while this made identifying 'lolita aesthetic' a lot harder, it also allowed for a lot more creativity and playfulness.

Are you me? Except I was a bitter classic "muh rori is sposed 2 be elegant!!1!". I miss it now. And looking back I kinda like it, it makes me smile whenever I see a coord from back then on my tumblr dash.

I'm a gothic lolita. For some reason, even though I like seeing prints worn on other people, I don't really find myself actively seeking dresses with prints on them very often. I love layering of fabric textures, especially layered "asymmetrical" skirts. I also love giant, wide-brimmed hats because of the sense of elegance they add to a coord. I love also the idea of not everything having to match perfectly, as >>9470133 mentioned.
> pic somewhat related
I also love seeing coords that can be worn in daily settings without it straying to the OTT side.

>> No.9472705

Okay, so Im not a lolita, but I really love seeing coords from girls online that have a sense of pastel country. I dont know if there is a real term for it, maybe sweet country, but light browns/cream/pastel pink [not baby pink] are very pretty together in my opinion.

>> No.9472753

I don't know how to put my personal preference other then minimalist Lolita. Simple shoes without a bunch of adornments and subtle or non printed dresses with simple hair styles like a curly side pony or maybe even a crown of braids. I own a few ott prints that can't fit this aesthetic but I do find myself collecting VM and MM plain style dresses that use pintucks and box pleates to give the dress some motion.

You shouldn't have to say what type of classic when you say you like classic. It would be like saying "oh I like gothic but I only like the plain style, not the nun and religious motifs that are popular now". You just say gothic and people think your into iron gate.

At a practical level, Fanny Rosie (yes, I'm that bitch). We have similar body types and tastes and I can almost always look at one of her outfits and picture myself in it, which I love. Muted colors, fitted waists, simple cords with vintage styling all that jazz. I tend to prefer more poof though. Xylia-x is another solid example.

On a dream, makes my heart go pitted patter though I wouldn't actually want to wear it level I'd die for old school goth lolitas

I just love "fresh" and "light" looking sweet like flower prints, mintxlavender coords,... I would say my aesthetic is mainly early 2010's sweet without being a pastel vomit blob. I like to keep it relatively simple, pic related is a perfect example.

If some sweet is more decora, retro, or girlish, then I like the softer sweet look. I guess more "hime lolita" or something fairy tale looking, like what a Disney Princess might wear. You tend to see it with Baby a lot.
>tfw you hate BtSSB now after all their years of blacklisting, hating on the international community, and questionable quality for brand

I love "simple" classic. Solid coloured dresses, with details like lace, ruffles, bib collars. I also love florals, but in muted and more neutral colours. I like browns, navy, dusty pinks, and wine. I love coords involve vintage pieces and vintage styling. I love hunting through thrift stores for blouses, accessories, bags, etc.

As far as prints go, my favourite (that aren't florals) are probably Meta's less tacky prints, even if they do look clip-arty. Fancy Egg, Girly Stuff, Dim Light, etc. etc. are my faves.

I don't really have a consistent substyle I wear, but my color palette is pretty jarringly limited. I've worn sweet, gothic, and classic/hime and all my dresses are green or red. No pastels, no blacks, no creams, just red and green.

Surprisingly I don't have any Christmas themed coordinates....

Something similar to this. I enjoy the Gothic Lolita style over other Lolita styles. I prefer some white lace over none at all but none at all over too much and more of a Victorian Maid theme but that's just me, a nice white/black theme leaning towards more black.
