Gulls. I'm in love with Tarte's Make Believe in Yourself collection but I always buy my makeup with some sort of coupon or sale. Should I just bite the bullet and buy directly from their website (excluded from coupons) or go through Ulta where I can at least build some points and get some deluxe sized products with a $35 purchase?

>> No.9405797

I always buy through Sephora. I like cashing in my points for deluxe samples. Ulta is probably good too, I just never shop there for some reason.

ulta is better point wise because you actually get money off whatever you want for your points; the monetary value of 1000 ulta points far exceeds 1000 sephora points

Not sure if this thread of skincare would be better for this question, but there isn't a skincare thread up right now, so here it goes.

Does anyone here have experience with self tanners? I'm doing a canon "beach episode" variant of a character for a shoot in a couple of months (so I have time to experiment) and want to look like I've actually been at the beach and not holed up inside watching anime. I'm usually around NC15 or 20 and don't want to get super dark, just enough to realistically have been in a bikini in the sun all day.

The only product I've tried is that Jergens gradual tanner everyone swears by, but it turns me more orange than I'd like. I've been looking at St. Moriz because it's generally well-reviewed and only $12 or so here, but I don't know if there are other brands that people have had good results with.

>> No.9405896

>>9405797
I like the option of choosing my deluxe sample and they have really good ones but at the same time I don't buy a lot of makeup too often so that doesn't feel like enough of a deal to me.

>>9405803
Agreed. Ulta always offers deluxe samples with certain purchases anyway so the monetary reward works better for me.

>>9405812
Those are the two I'm interested in. What are your thoughts? I've heard nothing but praise but I like hearing from non-sponsored people too.

Ulta has some free deluxe samples with a $35 purchase and I have $3 in rewards I can use so I think I'll just buy the palette for now since I have enough brushes.

What sort of makeup styles do you gulls usually do? I've been looking through YouTube to find some good makeup tutorials but there are so many different kinds and I'm still trying to find a style that I think would suit me best. Right now I'm watching a variety of videos and testing them out on myself to see.

Are there any Youtubers/styles that you prefer? Or does it depend on your cosplay/coord/etc?

>or does it depend on your cosplay/coord/etc?
For me it does. My everyday look is very basic but with a pop of color on the eyes. I don't contour or highlight, so I won't be much help there. I tend to cosplay younger characters which doesn't always warrant colored eyelids, so I just try to play up my natural features then.

I really like Wayne Goss for the basics then I like watching Tati or Laura Lee for eye makeup tutorials.

I like watching gothic youtube tutorials, since it's useful for finding the shades I like and finding out Western brands. I tend to go for a mix of Asian and Western styles, so a straight brow, no contour, blush under eyes, matte lip. a protip for youtubers is to watch the ones that don't only explain what they are doing but also what people with different Features would do. (For example "I'm doing X with my eye but don't do it if you have hooded eyes")
Also try to find out what's your face/eye/lip shape and search for makeup tutorials that are meant for your Features.

You also don't have to copy whole Looks. try different eye techniques and compare them to eachother. Stick to the one that you like the best and then do the same for lips., cheeks, nose etc.

I bought the brushes and they're amazing. They're gorgeous and soooo sooo soft. The handles also have a decent amount of weight to them. I'm a classic lolita. I do a blend of western and asian makeup techniques. I think most western techniques tend to be too dramatic for lolita. Asians on the other hand sometimes may not have dramatic enough eye makeup for me (kill me, I love my colors and shades), so I do a mix of the two. I like to contour my nose a bit and highlight very slightly but my eye makeup tends more towards the Koreans but with brighter and deeper colors, if that makes sense. I've only started playing with my brows as well, but for the most part I just fill them in rather than doing anything with them, haha.

For specific youtube tutorials, I like Lamuqe and Pony a lot. Their subtitles are really well translated and I get what they mean for the most part (unlike some makeup tutorials which use coded language that makes no sense to the layperson). Personality wise, Kathleen Lights is my guilty pleasure. She always has such a bubbly personality and she brightens up my day. She also does really interesting things eye makeup wise, even if a little out there. I also like Lisa Eldridge - she tends to go for more muted, classic looking makeup. She also did a youtube video comparing Eastern and Western makeup techniques, which is pretty eye opening.

You need a good cleansing routine if you want perfectly good skin and want foundation as well.

Foundation will look cakey or oily if you don't put on a good primer.

I like how you grouped 'toners' and 'concealers' under the 'same autistic shit.' The way you're confusing 'good skin' with makeup. I am of course proving my 'autism' but it's good to differentiate between the two. I know women with such good skin routine they don't need makeup to have good looking skin. Plus, you get the added benefits of protecting against skin cancer if you care even a little about protecting your skin. Look into getting your skincare routine down first. Your skin will thank you much more for it in the long run than slapping some cheap foundation on.

So I've gotten really good at lengthening my eyelashes, but now I'm running into another issue - they stop curling up when I start applying primer, mascara, etc. I can curl them up very well with my current curler, but all that goes to hell when I apply stuff on. I've tried heating the curler, curling after primer, and (most successful) a small pump after curling mascara, but my eyelashes will just uncurl as the day goes on. Made an odd accidental discovery recently. After a day of painting cosplay props, I'm doing my nightly makeup removal /skincare routine. I still have a little spray paint stuck to my finger tips (because I'm never smart enough to wear gloves lol) I usually don't care enough to scrub it off since it usually falls off after 2 days anyway. Anyway, I start using my oil cleanser (Clinique's Take the Day Off) and I notice that after that, all the paint residue is gone from my hands!
A few weeks later and my incompetence continues with me super gluing my fingers together. I was about to bust out the hot water/dish soap/acetone method and recalled my experience with the cleanser. Thinking I had nothing to lose other than a pump of cleanser, I put some on my fingers and lo and behold, the super glue is dissolved! Now I have a much cheaper (Neutrogena) cleanser to try next time this happens so I'm not using the fancy stuff.

Just work at Ulta! I get so much free gratis! As a previous Sephora die hard, the Ulta return policy and point reward system is so much better!

As an employee, I've gotten free anastasia brow wiz, lipstick, and brow duo ended highlight pencil. I've also gotten becca makeup primer, urban decay eyeliner, mario bedescu entire line for oily skin, several murad skincare line, 2 different sets of the dermaligica line, st tropez self tanner with body mit, and a lit of other crazy items all for free just so we can tell customers or personal opinions about it all.

The drawback is that we don't choose gratis.Random stuff is given each time but the managers let us rummage through it and sometimes a lot of girls don't get a chance at it. At my store, its based off of who actually makes an effort to be knowledgeable and helpful the most. I work with girls who scoff at the high end makeup aisle because they haven't tried it and redirect to me and a few other girls and turn away instead of just trying to learn with the customers. Those type of girls typically don't last long. I've only worked at Ulta 4 months and I would grade out an A+ experience for anyone who loves makeup. The girls I work with absolutely adore how I use makeup to transform my face for cosplay
and a few of them are registered makeup artists that give me pointers on how to better try to do the more drastic transformations.

The cool shades seem most promising, but the warm shades aren't what I like them to be. It's a very sheer coverage as you can see, so pairing with a white base would probably be prudent.

I'm really hoping they'll work better on the eyes but even the matte isn't swatching terribly well which isn't a good sign. It's not terribly work appropriate to wear so it'll probably be a few days before I truly try it out. I feel so bad for saying this because this is a really nice palette and hopefully I'll have more luck on the actual eyes.

feline fancy is also shit, the pigmentation is pretty much nothing, even with primer. The red is also very rusty and darker than it looks in their official swatches. Love+ is good though.

Inglot has a good red gel eyeliner, and marc jacobs highliner has a decent red shade as well
I would reccommend getting the modern renaissance and getting love + to cover the reds/pinks, and then maybe juvia's place masquerade for the more rusty orange and red shades.

I'm heading out for my birthday dinner but I did try the Sebum Pact and the Holika Holika BB Cream so I can review those right now.

>Holika Holika Puri Pore No Sebum Pact
A lot smaller than I thought, fits in the palm of your hand but it's kinda cute. The powder is solid white and you use a tiny cushion to pat it on around your nose and cheeks, wherever might get greasy quick. I couldn't tell I'd put any on so I double patted just to make sure.

The BB Cream was a LOT darker than I expected when I put it on but then it seemed to change color? It went from a dark beige to almost matching my pale-ass skin. Very nicely scented as well. I'll take photos when I get back and see how it survived a few hours out. I'll also do test swatches of the rest.

Okay I'm back after 5 hours of test driving just the Sebum powder and HolikaHolika BB cream, no powder layer or anything, just blush.

I'm actually really pleased!

>Holika Holika Puri Pore Compact
>Talc non-added no-sebum powder makes skin look matte and silky by controlling shine on skin with fine natural mineral powder

I actually think it did a really good job! After 5 hours my nose is a little greasy (I wear glasses so my nose bridge gets bad) but it's not as bad as usual. I might need to powder more next time but my forehead isn't greasy feeling at all so I consider it pretty good for normal areas.

>Holika Holika Petit BB Cream - Bouncing
>Makes skin bouncy with essential petit BB that contains collagen and caviar!
It offers anti-wrinkle and whitening function to gives life back to your skin.

It seems to be color matching and after 5 hours my skin still feels really nice and not greasy at all. Feels like I've got lotion on where you skin is kinda dewy feeling but not sticky. Where I've got blush on my skin is soft and dry feeling so this BB cream plus a powder layer would be really nice.
Not exactly great coverage on its own (I've got dark facial hair issues so others might have better luck) but it's still better than bare skin. The pics don't do the color matching justice since my wrist is a lot paler than my face at the moment.

>TonyMoly Selfie Blur BB Cream
>It is a bb cream that covers the defects of the skin in a bright and smooth skin with just one touch like calibrating with the selfie application.
Gives bumpy blemishes and pores blur like silky filling effect.

I haven't tried it yet aside from the swatches but it's a lot thinner and runnier as compared to the Holika Holika one. I can't speak for what it looks like on the face yet so maybe it'll be worth it.

So, this feels like a stupid question but I have no female friends who really wear makeup so I honestly don't know...is it normal to have each eye work completely different with the same mascara? I imagine it's now the lashes grow in or something, but for instance my left eye always neatly seperates and fans out while my right eye always clumps up strangely and has trouble looking elongated. This happens whether I curl or not, and to some degree with any type of mascara. Is this normal? Should I just be brushing the clumpy one through a lot? Any tips? I deal with it as I can but it can be so annoying when they look different.

>>9419473
It depends on what kind of makeup you like to wear/your skin tone. Do you like fuller coverage, lighter coverage, prefer powders? Be sure to tell the lady helping your coverage preference. Since you seem to like powders more, try those out, and maybe a BB cream, though if you're really pale or really dark you might have trouble finding things in your shade (though I do promise there's something out there for everyone, I even found a foundation for my NW05 friend, NC10 myself).

I'd personally recommend at least trying a liquid foundation though, I used to use powder but fell in love with liquid, though admittedly I aim for fuller coverage because of acne. I'm pretty sure basics for makeup are primer, foundation of some sort, concealer, and setting powder if you used liquid foundation - setting sprays are also really nice too if you're wearing your face all day. Some kind of brow product also wouldn't hurt - I just use L'Oreal pencils, they're good quality and affordable.

Ask an associate to help you with choosing something that will work for your skin type and they will also find the right shade for you. They will test and apply the product on you for free and then let them know that you want to test drive the product for a day to see the staying power. I've done this before with no problems bc I expressed from the start that I was worried about how the product would look and last on my skin throughout the day.

They just have way too many products in there and I don't want to stand around to swatch stuff on my face a billion times to find the right shade either. The makeup advisors definitely understand this and are super helpful with trying to find something to suit your needs. They have technology/an app they use to throw in your skin type, desired product and finish to quickly find the product for you too.

I could only dream of such clear skin, I frequently have full on cystic breakouts, really not fun. But seriously thanks for the pictures, it was very kind of you to take them!

This is confirming to me at least that I highly doubt the Holika Holika BB would be as gray as Missha looks neutral. In a side question, I'm pretty sure my local grocery stores don't carry Rimmel Clean Finish, but I do own Wet 'n Wild Photofocus in Porcelain and there's loads of swatches of Maybelline Fit Me 115 compared to stuff I normally wear - not asking you to buy them or anything like that, but if by chance you've compared the Rimmel to them would you say it's the same, darker, lighter? Looking for nice fake eyelashes for cosplay?Over the top and eye enlarging, but not crazy thick like ones for drag. I've pretty much got no experience with them so could I get some recs please? Especially nice bottom ones.

Just from looking around I'm thinking Dolly Wink Dolly Sweet for top lashes, ardell individuals for bottom lashes, and duo lash glue.

Your current choices are fine.
If you'd rather not pony up the cost of importing Dollywink, I'm a big fan of Eyelure London lashes they have a few different styles that are the right amount of volume and wispy with a thin band that keeps them from over powering the makeup applied to the lid. I am partial to "Naturals No. 033 and 027"

For bottom lashes they have what the company calls "Underlash No. 040", which again has that really nice thin band that is just right and helps it adhere without looking silly.

Incoming blogpost

I've heard gulls and normies recommend NYX, never tried it, they had a B1G1 half off, so I bought:
>four Suede matte lip liners,
>two liquid suede cream lipsticks
>two Epic Ink Lip Dye Stains.

Everything was terrible except the lip liners which were mediocre, and I'm super sad. I'm coming from higher end lipsticks like Smashbox and Stila, but the way everyone talked about NYX lip products I thought it would hold up. tl;dr review:

liquid lipsticks
>came off with water
>smeared on my teeth in about 2 minutes
>greasy feeling, didn't set or dry
lip stains
>applied 2 coats, still looked patchy
>slow to dry, looked even patchier when dry
>came off rapidly with water, no soap or cleanser needed
>didn't stain even when removed, even revlon sticks stain better
>need them for 6-10 hour server shifts
>need lip products that don't budge and only need reapplying once or twice max

The only thing I'd heard on here was the butter glosses recommended and I was saving that for a next purchase, should I even bother? I wear more lipstick than lipgloss anyway.

>> No.9428242

>>9428169

I like the glosses, but I've decluttered quite a few in the past since like you, I'm not a huge fan of glosses.

They smell/taste good, and are a little bit tacky (not sticky, but not super slick either). If you find one or two that you love color-wise, they're worth it. If I use a gloss at all, I reach for those.

Really the only lip products I really love from NYX is their matte lipstick bullets. I found them creamy and not too drying. Liner is recommended since sometimes the lines are uneven after application.

The rest of their lip products have been hit or miss for me, and I really love NYX as a whole ... so it varies by preference.

Nayrt but would you say Butt naked turn the other cheeck palette is meant to be cheap and not really great because I bought it and it seems really shitty? Of course it was super cheap but still bummed me a bit. I have small nude palette from Isadora and honestly the pigment is way better. I'm just starting to get into make up so I didn't want to invest too much to my first proper palette and I really needed a new blush. Should I look for something else? The colors are really pretty which is a shame.

The whitening effect in at least some BB creams is caused by an ingredient which prevents you from getting tanned + they contain SFE which also prevents you from getting tanned (but it is also needed for the protection of your skin because when you can't get tanned, your skin is more sensitive)

Update, but I tried a look this weekend and I need to eat my words. It's harder to work with for sure, but the results really are amazing! I used the purple shadow on my lid, the lighter mauvy one in the middle, and the highlight in my inner corner and to highlight my face. I really liked the effect! Definitely great for a more glamorous or out there look, and easier to work with than the BH Galaxy girl palette I have (the closest one I can compare this too with ethereal colours). No regrets anymore, I think.

Personally I find the butter glosses very slippery and don't stay on at all.

Personally I do like their liquid suede line. I agree that it comes off easily, but I do find it more comfortable to wear than some of the more drying liquid lipsticks.

I also like their liners as they're cheap and they seem to have pretty even application.

I'm really trying to think right now what else from their line I would recommend, but desu I haven't tried much else. Their eye concealer was disappointing as it's thick and interferes with my eye makeup. I have their cheek stain but it remains unopened for the time being as I have so many other blushes to go through.

>>9428380

Personally for me I would start with one versatile blush rather than a whole palette, which could be overwhelming. Once you get comfortable with how it looks on your cheeks, you can start playing with other colors and how they look on your face. What color you choose first is really up to you and what flatters your skintone.

I like their suede line, but they're not really meant to dry down like a matte liquid lipstick, so it's good for people who don't like drying lipsticks. Their lingerie liquid lipstick line stay much more put, imo, and they're much more of of mousse texture. I have good luck with it staying put, but the downsides of it are that sometimes the texture comes out a little chunky, and they take more swipes of application than some of my other lipsticks.

In terms of staying put, I think for a cheap lipstick option Colourpop is the most permanent option, but it's also the most drying. Of course, if you're used to higher quality lipsticks, these aren't going to be amazing quality in comparison, but you do get the options of more colours for your money.

Alternatively, I would check out indie makeup options. They might be the same price range of some designer brands, but they're really able to do a lot in terms of colour range, staying power, and comfortabilty.

Sorry, I meant I'm getting seriously into more quality make up so I have several blushes already at the moment and I have definitely gotten used to it. I got it because I needed a new powder one and it had three pretty shades along the shadows. The blushes and highlighters weren't the problem but the eyeshadows. They don't seem to be really pigmented but I'm not sure if it's because the palette was cheap and meant to be a starter pack or if I'm doing something wrong. Either way, I am pretty disappointed. I have good brushes but I should really invest to good primer next. I was so tired when I typed that and I'm not native so it becomes misleading quickly.

I went to one of her other panels a while back, I don't remember what her pressed powder is, but I'm 99% sure that blue-lidded loose powder is Chacott, a JP makeup brand marketed to ballerinas (supposedly has great staying power for when you're on stage, etc.). She mentioned in the panel I went to that hers was "cooling" (had some menthol in it or something) and I've never been able to find that specific one, but I have some of their regular translucent powder and I like it well enough.

My favorites right now are Cryptic Cosmetics and Black Moon Cosmetics. I do mostly gothic lolita, so they're brands in shades that I'm able to use a lot. They're both a really good balance between staying power and comfortability.

If you're looking for a wide range of color, check out Makeup Monsters, Beauty Bakerie, Dose of Color, and Colored Rain. I haven't tried these brands yet but they have generally good reviews and really great colors. Ofra is another brand with a great color range and I have a few of their lipsticks, I'm not in love with them for the price but they always have discount codes. I probably wouldn't bother again with them unless it's a really interesting, unique color. I have hear good things about their highlighters, though.

Sugarpill has really great metallic lipsticks, I only have the red one that comes with the Feline Fancy palette but I love it. They have bullet lipsticks as well, obviously they don't have amazing staying power like a liquid lipstick does, but the colors are very nice.

My absolute favorite in terms of comfort so far has been Lonely Planet, they don't have as much staying power but I love the way they feel on my lips, kind of velvety/suede-y? They're going through some rebranding thing so their new name is like Atomic Makeup NYC or something, I can pretty much only find them on Instagram. They had really great colors too, so I hope they bring those back.

I haven't tried their lipsticks, but I do want to mention Lunatick Lab Cosmetics for really amazing eyeshadow palettes geared towards more gothic looks, esp their contour palette. Another brand for eyeshadows is Concrete Minerals, they do lovely loose powders.

Hope that helps!

greasy ass sunscreen isn't good for a primer, but if your face isn't busted to fuck with acne you're probably good to just go read the skincare thread.

a bb cream would likely suit your purposes better than foundation.

get a nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk (or equivalent) and a spoolie and work it into your brows. Not too much or it starts getting nasty and messy. Dumb question, but this is my first year hearing about the Sephora VIB sale - is it literally for everything or are there limitations/off limit brands? Everyone says it's on "everything" but that's a little much for me to imagine. I'd like some suggestions on foundation that can cover well and won't break the bank. I have pretty big tattoos that I would like to cover for cosplay and my daily wear foundation is a BB cream. I was thinking about getting dermablend samples on ebay or something. I want to avoid dropping ~40 bucks on something heavier (like KVD's foundation) for basically a handful of uses.

>>9439128
Yeah Sephora VIB has no brands excluded. I honestly don't think it's that good though unless you're basically rouge tier. Ulta also does a similar sale with 20% off including all prestige brands and I personally think their rewards system is better than Ulta's.

For super full coverage, there's the now pretty internet famous Dermacol. It's palest shade is too dark for me which is a shame because the formula and coverage is really good, at least for me - any bright red acne and scarring is instantly covered and it's the most flawless I've ever looked. I also like how it applies 1000x better than KVD which is really stiff. You need to pair it with a good powder and/or setting spray though - it comes off onto everything for me if I don't. Prices vary depending on shade, but it's about $10-15 depending on who you choose to buy from on Ebay.

You can try your favorite foundation or bb cream with a small drop of a light facial oil (add a bit more if you feel that your skin needs a bit more). The oil will also thin out your foundation/bbcream a bit so that the coverage is a little less. Not all bases will mix well with oils though.

I use my usual bb cream with a drop of innisfree's green tea seed oil in the winter. I also mix in a bit of a lighter base makeup bc my skin is a little lighter in the winter and it helps thicken the mixture a bit bc I still want the coverage but the oil helps combat the drying out of my skin throughout the day.

Nyx has a good line of highlighters that might just be shiny enough to achieve a low key version of that picture. Otherwise, it's sort of hard to achieve exactly that look with only highlighters. Even glitter highlighters tend to have a slick sheen rather than an actual glitter look, and that's hard to catch unless you turn the right way. Best bet would be to layer the highlighter on and maybe contour right behind where the dimples of the temples are it to emphasize the height of the zygomatic arch.

Soleil de la Mer Face and Body Gradual Tan. Its base is more rosy than other tanners, so it never comes out orange. As long as you follow basic self-tanner etiquette (exfoliate, moisturize, double moisturize dry spots like knees, elbows, and face, apply lightly on dry spots) you'll get a great natural tan every time.

>$100!
Cheaper than skin cancer, and the only self-tanning product I've liked enough to use multiple times.

Basically take a glue stick, glue them down, cover with concealer and then powder, and you can draw whatever brow you want on. If you want to you can also just shave off most of your brows except the front.

By the time I'm done doing my makeup I usually have moisturizer, foundation, concealer, highlight/contour, blush, finishing powder. That's 6. I don't even use primer or setting powder like some do. You can use a lighter heavy coverage foundation, but it'll end up looking like a mask and you will look stupid. Your best bet is to use a base that is brightening/tone up (many korean brands make them) under your foundation, and then you can try using foundation over that, along with brightening concealer. But lighter foundation alone isn't gonna match your neck or the rest of your skin, so if you try to go full coverage, you will look like a 14 year old goth.

Some foundations 'oxidise' on the skin, meaning they darken to a certain shade after a while. You could look for a primer that claims to brighten or whiten your skin, or look for a pale concealer (I recommend LA girl) to mix with your foundation.

However as above anon said it may end up looking ghostly or cakey.

What are some good eyelash glues that don't break the bank? I've just recently realized that the duo eyelash glue I've bought a few times from amazon isn't actually the real stuff (I know, I'm an idiot, no need to tell me) and that's probably the reason I always have a hard time with putting on fake eyelashes, but when I looked around all I can find that is real (as in sold from legit makeup sites etc) is like $10+, which to me feels way to much for something that doesn't last that long

Hey guys, trying to figure out a good brand of foundation to go for. I'm a very pale redhead with neutral undertones, and pretty terrible skin. I'm prone to breakouts, dry patches, and dullness. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I don't mind shelling out for top shelf brands as long as it gives me the beautiful glowing complexion my genetics seem to screw me on.

Any reference points of foundation for us to know exactly how pale you are? Like "oh I tried UD Naked Skin 0.5 and it was too dark, but KVD Lock-It 42 was too pale and pink"? As a very pale person with other very pale friends all with different undertones and levels of paleness, there's still a lot of variety even in the lightest shades.

I'd recommend checking out Thataylaa on Youtube. Sooooooo many foundation reviews, and not only does she very thoroughly test quality but also compares them to other foundations. She's looked at a very wide variety of super pale shades at this point. If you live near a Sephora I'd also recommend grabbing samples of anything pale they sell and trying it at home - Ulta doesn't allow samples but at least has a generous return policy.

In a very happy moment for myself, I, at long last, have found my HG foundation!!! I am so overjoyed after trying so many with so many disappointments. Realized I was a bit paler than Thataylaa and ordered Marc Jacobs Remarcable in Ivory Light 10 - it's actually more neutral than pink in my opinion. Expensive, but has crazy coverage with so little, matches my body perfectly, and lasts all day without getting gross like Dermacol and KVD do on me. They better never discontinue this, I will cry now that I have known such happiness.

Question for nail polish users; I just do it on rare occassions since my job is a lot of physical labor that not even gel polish can really stand up to. However, are there top coats and bottom coats out there that are above the pack in terms of quality/longevity? Because I'm really sick of my nails literally falling apart a few hours after I'll put a polish on. Currently I use OPI ones. Thought they'd be good and assumed all top/bottom coats are born equal, wrong. My nails are also super flexible and extremely quickly get small cracks underneath the topcoat from said bending, but I'm guessing there's nothing I can do about that? Or is there a magic product to prevent that?

Sounds like you need to re-evaluate your skincare too anon. Treat the source 'cause your makeup can only do so much. Look into adding a hydrating toner and a denser cream if you don't already. Hyaluronic acid, ceramides, etc...

Smashbox's Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation was good to me for winter skin personally. Great coverage the hydration it provides isn't of the dewy variety... the finish is satin-y almost. It most certainly isn't matte and flat but it won't provide "glow" per se.

If you want to maybe take a look at some drugstore options L'oreals Tru Match Lumi was really hydrating and touts itself as being the "it" dewy foundation. Personally it oxidized on me so I threw it out, but that could have been due to my particular shade so take that with a grain of salt. It also contains SPF so added skin health bonus.

I am currently using L'oreal Infalliable Pro Glow, its got a comfy dewyness about it and the coverage is top notch, I prefer it over Lumi since it didn't oxidize and I still get my spf.

BH cosmetics also has some, as does coastal scents, but I do not think they are quite as good. Makeup revolution also has a gigantic palette, and I've heard good things about them too, but again, they're shilled hard by the youtube makeup community (who are getting paid under the table) so I'm not sure. I try to stay way from those as I've heard for instance that Morphe just relabels some no name brand's shit most of the time and makeup revolution has this practice of making stylistically uncomfortably close dupes of various palettes.

Anyone know of a good dark green lipstick? Not dark like Bite Beauty Kale but more like a deep teal-ish green. I've been researching reviews and so far it seems like almost every green lipstick ever made is either crumbly, patchy, or just doesn't hold up at all. I've been looking at the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Dark Forest because it's the perfect color, but when I swatched it on my hand in store it came out really patchy. I'm wondering if that's just from other people's oils messing with the formula though, since the sample tube only had a little left on the bottom.

On some people it looks patchy while on others it looks opaque. But every review I've seen for it raves about how great it is. I'm left wondering if there's an inconsistency with the formula or if it performs better on the lips or something. Other lips I'm considering are Too Faced Melted Matte in Wicked and Anastasia Beverly Hills in Requiem.
