So, is Pinky Paradise seriously no longer shipping to the US!?

>> No.9389579

Nope not at all becuase the states deem circle lenses to need a prescription and I guess it became to much of a hassle for pp?

Also on a new note; I was just diagnosed with karetacous in my right eye and I unsure if I am able to wear circle lenses.... I only wear the specficiclly for cosplay. Anyone else have it and know? Thank.

After seeing a post here I decided to try the i-dol queen series from 19ninety-six. These lenses are by far the best at brightening that I've ever tried! The only complaint I'd have is that the placement of the pupil hole seems slightly too low, but I also have a slight astigmatism and these lenses aren't correcting it so that may be a cause of the problem? I haven't really seen any other reviews for these lenses so I'm not sure if this applies to everyone or not.
Overall, great color effects, would definitely recommend.

They've said they're in the midst of going through the process of getting them legally approved to sell/ship to the US to avoid legal issues. You should probably not be wearing those if you have astigmatism though? You could end up scratching your cornea and literally going blind, because the lenses don't fit on your eye properly, because your eye is misshapen.

So I ordered a few pairs of lenses from Geo Coloured Lenses, which is a pretty reputable seller. Try one pair on and while one of them is completely fine the other is uncomfortable, like something is stuck in my eye. So I take them out to take a look and the uncomfortable lens has a bunch of "bumps" in it. It was like this right when I took it out of the packaging! Is there any way I can get a refund or anything? Feels pretty shit.

>> No.9393491

I have an optometrist friend who is pretty anti-circle lens. Although materials are FDA approved, you can actually prescribe them in the USA, which technically makes selling them illegal. I guess most sites get around this by saying "oh we'll send a verification request to your eye doctor, but if they don't respond in 12 hours we'll assume they prescribed it!"

She recommended the Acuvue Define dailies-- has anyone used them? They don't do color changing, but they do make the iris bigger.

I've always had issues wearing circle lenses on my LEFT eye. For some reason, it always bothers, stings or irritates my eye immediately after I get it in. I look carefully at the contact to make sure it's not bent backwards.

The optometrist can give you your prescription (including your astigmatism prescription) and you can get eye contacts that will fit your eye. Also optometrists do contact fittings where they see if a certain pair of contacts are sitting well with your eyes. I do contact fittings for my normal lenses when I want to try a new brand with my optometrist.

I'm just using astigmatism as an example though, there could be something else so go to the optometrist if you really want to get to the bottom of it.

Totally depends on the severity of the astigmatism that a person has. If you have a very minor astigmatism, eye doctors often just prescribe regular spherical contact lenses. If you are finding your cylinder measurement is over -1.00, that's kind of the point where you will start to get crisper, clearer vision with toric lenses. If your cylinder measurement is under that, the "benefit" of wearing torics is sort of negligible.

Also, if you are into larger diameter lenses, those tend to have slightly flatter base curves anyway so you may be able to comfortably wear them. I have what they classify as "moderate" astigmatism in both eyes, but was okayed to wear color circle lenses for 6-8 hours a day for a weekend, a few times a year. So it depends highly on your own situation and what your eye doc is cool with.

My eye doc couldn't prescribe torics, assured me that using the same month-life contacts for 2 months of wear was fine as long as I let the contacts soak for longer periods in between uses.
I dual wield glasses and contacts, my astigmatism is so bad that they don't make torics for me, the fine detail blur is just operation costs at this point if I choose to go the contact route. Can't not notice them either.

Do you mean...keratoconus? My condolences anon. Husband has it and it's a special kind of hell for him as it's progressed quite far, but not far enough for our healthcare to cover the fix.

And as for lenses...talk to your optometrist. What happens with keratoconus is that your cornea will become more pointy (cone shaped as name implies) over time. Regular lenses will stop adhering to your eyes properly at some point and will just fall out. Furthermore, soft lenses won't correct your vision properly either, as the changes to your cornea cause distortions in vision and can only be fixed with rigid lenses. (Or in the case of my husband, a rigid centre with a soft outside lens, because even hard lenses pop right the fuck out of his poor tortured eyes). If it's in the early stages you might be ok but you won't be able to wear them at all eventually.

Also, if you have health insurance to cover it, talk to your doctor about corneal crosslinking. It's a procedure that will strengthten your cornea and prevent it from warping as fast, and could slow the progress of the disease.

Best of luck anon.

if you're in a poorly lit environment, people probably won't notice, but if you get into a place with better lighting (or if you take a photo with flash), it'll be really obvious.

The Shinny Aqua are my favorites out of these, I've bought a pair of those before so I can vouch for the quality. they are more of a turquoise than a straight-up sky-blue, but I like the fact that the design includes partial heterochromia (the lighter brown ring towards the center) which will help it merge into a brown iris more subtly. I am lucky to live in Canada though where I am on my husbands benefit plan so my eye doctor appointments are covered by the government and my husbands plan will cover new glasses and contacts every 2 years.

Look for sclera contacts. Those kind aren't cheap, and they're more uncomfortable than regular contacts.

Do you mean your base curve, anon? If you usually wear a 4.2, chances are that 4.8 won't sit on your eyes very well. I'd probably consult your optician/optometrist to check if you're super set on them.

I've got really dry eyes too. What I find really works for me are the airily daily contacts, which come in a pack of 10! They're gorgeous and come in high scripts as well. I haven't tried them personally, but i'm pretty sure anything made of silicone hydrogel will probably be a lot more comfy for you too (like GEO's Eyevelyn)

>>9414918
Do you still have the bottles, anon? It's possible they accidentally sent you ones with prescription, which might explain the eye strain.

Some days I'm better than others with coloured contacts. Would putting in eye drops to refresh/wet my eyes be a bad idea while I'm wearing them? I don't know how long I'd be wearing them at my next convention, could be anywhere from 6-10 hours.

As long as they're drops meant specifically for soft lenses, you should be fine.

I haven't ordered from HoneyColor recently so I'm not too sure if it's seriously being implemented, but if you have no other option, you could try giving them a "fake" number to call for verification?

>"The verification process takes 12 hours and if no response received from your eye doctor, your prescription will be assumed as valid and your order will be processed and shipped."

But someone else could probably give you a more legit alternative.

Any advice for keeping lenses for a long time between uses? I always buy yearlies but usually only use them once or twice, usually within the same week or two, and then they just sit there until I throw them out. If I wanted to use them just a couple times but spaced out over the span of like 7-8 months, how can I make sure I'm taking good enough care of them to keep them safe?

The best you can do is to change the liquid now and then so it doesn't evaporate or degrade. That's the only issue you will have from non use

Don't use the free cases from the online sites imo. As a regular contact wearer I am use to the cases I get with my "big brand" contact solution companies like Bausch + Lomb and OptiFree and with those I've never had a problem with lenses drying out. I never even knew lenses could dry out in cases until I used one of the free ones that come with your circle lens purchase. Also, gently rub with your pinky/ring finger and contact solution after you wear and before you let it soak in the case to help lift any makeup residue.

arg I left out a digit, i'm talking diameter 14.2mm vs 14.8mm

like my RX contacts are 14.2mm diameter but those contacts anon recommended are only 14.0 :0 idk how that would work

luckily I'm finding quite a few non-enlarging blue lenses that fit my rx, just have to decide. none of them are very realistic... the most realistic style ones either have splashes of brown or only fade to outwards to blue

>>don't need super realistic lenses but even with the super pinkys I would get the occasional kid saying 'you're eyes look fake'

still shopping for blue non-enlarging lenses if any new anons have any recs :')

scleral lenses require specific measurments and a separate prescription than normal contact lenses

Diameter doesn't really matter as far the prescription goes. Only the base curve. For circle lenses, bigger diameter = bigger googly eyes, that's all. Smaller diameter contacts will be more realistic. Regular prescription lenses will be different diameters depending on on the brand, and within the brand they'll probably offer a few different base curves. The base curve measurement is around 4.something. Most circle lenses have 4.6 that I've seen. make sure you know your base curve, cause that's what truly matters. It's what determines how the contact sits on your eye, and not the diameter.

Also if you're still struggling finding a subtle or realisic lens, maybe try to go for regular colour contacts? Something like Freshlook? Those sorts of colour lenses come in montly or daily versions IIRC.

This happened to me after regular ones from my opticians they told me that could happen sometimes and it could mean you need to build a tolerance up, after wearing lenses a few times I havent had the headaches, I've bought my first pair of circle lenses but havent tried them on yet. Hopefully they'll be okay too.

but yeah, jusst make sure you're putting them in right and looking after them properly and they should be okay after a few more times, I remembeer at school my friend brought in circle lenses and had no idea what she was doing and she was SCREAMING in pain but after a few trys she was okay
