I'm in this boat too anon. Just try your best and have fun and if it looks good people will notice and stop you. That's what I've experienced even in popular flavor of the month cosplay anyway. I'm rigging lights in her headset gun and suit with the hopes of turning some heads but if I don't at least I'm giving my main girl some love.
