So one of my best friend is a pretty successful photographer, and he's kind of the shit in the cosplay community apparently. He's going to Magfest since it's kind of in driving distance, and hes got quite a few "famous"(in the cosplay community I guess) cosplayers rooming with us, all girls. I told him not to do this since I have shit self control, am very attractive, and have a GF whom I've been with for 2 years thanks to staying out of situations like this.

I'm glad you know that about yourself. It's way better than denying it or blaming it on someone else.

One question though...why have a girlfriend unless you have worked on that self control? Eventually life is going to throw some unavoidable situation at you and you'll cheat unless you work on that aspect of yourself. So why expose someone else's feelings to your shortcomings?

At the very least maybe have an open relationship until you can guarantee you will be faithful to someone who expects faithfulness.

Well, I've gotten a lot better at it over the last 2 years, but my self control is still shit compared to a normal person I think. I have a tendency to look at my father's past and reflect it onto myself despite coming a long way since then, and my gf helps me improve and is very patient with me. Whenever I struggle I just straight up tell her, and she works with me, I don't hide anything from her and her(usually) not getting super upset over things I didnt(yet almost) did helps me with my self control.

I'm still not anywhere near the level of control I want to be at, NOT even close(or maybe?), which is exactly why I've been trying to keep myself out of these situations for the last year and a half or so. This is going to be the first really difficult, almost impossible, "test" I guess you could say that I've had in a long long long time. Usually I just don't go on trips unless she comes with me which makes it all easier on me.

But to answer your question... I don't want an open relationship because I've been fighting myself so hard all for her. I realize it's selfish, but I'm just holding out hope that one day I'll have a breakthrough and stop catching myself in shady, borderline cheating situations. I just love her to death and I'm fighting myself with everything I've got to fix my issues, and for the first time in years I feel like that miracle change is getting close after all this fighting.

But thanks to Katsu becoming so ridiculously crowded, it's becoming more popular for cosplayers who want to use the Gaylord when it's less busy. So there will still be some good stuff. My advice is to get the cosplay out of the way before 5pm and then change into something comfy and get ready to just relax and party.

I'm assuming there's little chance any hotel rooms will open up. Magfest is an older crowd that takes they're con plans a little more seriously and don't flake out like anime con room-stuffers.

Your best bet is to airbnb. It's pricy, but I got tired of looking for a garlord roomspace. So I used it to get a spot in the Wyndham. 270ish a night, has 3 beds, sofabed, and a kitchen. Only me and 2 other buds so I'll most likely be trying to fill space.

If any of your costumes are bulky, I really recommend staying out of the arcade. It's on the basement floor, and it is very dark and crowded. Most of the hardcore cosplay crew will be in the Atrium anyway. Facebook has the official cosplay group, and they're asking that people keep the photography in the fountain area.

Bring food and drink with you. The nearest grocery stores are far way from the venue. There is a drugstore, but I don't think you want to rely on that. Most of the restaurants are super expensive, so make sure you're ready for that too

I mean to be completely honest, it wasn't 'ruined', I could totally wear that dress again. Despite it being all poofy and having multiple petticoats, it was the comfiest and least hot costume I have ever worn.
But like there is SO MUCH poofiness, transporting and storing that thing is horrendous. Stairs and elevators are also a huge problem while wearing it.
As much as I adore that dress and seeing people's reactions as my manly self walks by like a princess, there are so many negatives that make it not worth it.
Still though, I paid a decent amount of money to get a custom tailored nice ass princess peach dress, and now it just sits in my closet doing nothing (The petticoats alone take up HALF of my closet). It's rather lame.

I've done money matches, but I don't enjoy playing Blazblue. I love their character designs and the beautiful content that aksys creates, but fuck all if I'm gonna bother learning a game I don't really enjoy anymore. Katsu con is a photoshoot con because of all the different backdrops around the resort. Is they go to Mag they don't have to try to work around a ton of people who want the same spots. They don't really care about the con's panel content. I think the cosplayers contribute a bit to the popularity spike but I think the timing is a bigger factor. To be honest, I'm a little sad that there are cosplay panels on the schedule this year. I always liked that MAGfest had different programming than standard anime cons, and it still does, but it feels like it's becoming more generic with each passing year and turning into "katsu-on-a-budget".

I have a friend coming from the west coast, and I always hear it's taboo to cosplay something from an anime at MAG, but I honestly will never get another chance to cosplay with her except for MAG just because we live on two different coasts.
