It' against the wall and 150cm wide so no hope. The drawers are also GLUED together. My dad managed to get it open by lifting it from the bottom but when I and my bf tried to it was completely stuck again. But again, it was dirt cheap and can fit my lolita. It's also okay looking and the shelves are better than in my Ikea one. Would have already ripped the drawer out but I would prefer to have it in one piece so I don't have to return shit back to the store and wait to get new parts from Poland.

I'm in the exact opposite situation. Kinda.
I have a lot of ideas and energy to clean and decorate, but my apartment is so shittu. Ugly flooring, ugly walls, ugly cabinets in the kitchen, and we're not allowed to change anything.
And the space very small, and since Iive with my boyfriend, we have quite a lot of furniture taking up a lot of space.

I tried to move around the furniture a bit, but just the bed takes up so much space, so everything else feels super cluttered...

Lastly, the windows are really big, which would be great if we didn't live on the first floor with a lot of people walking right outside, so you always have to have the blinds down, or else people can look right at you, which I find super uncomfortable.

Its really hard to get an apartment at all were we live, so I'm happy that we have a place, but still, it sucks that I can't make it look as nice as I want..

Sorry for rant lol

I have a really similar problem--courtyard apartment, low square footage, giant windows that need to be covered at all times. I can't help too much, because my place is still pretty shitty, but here are a few suggestions:
Get some opaque-ish drapes to use when you want your windows open but you don't want people to see in. Standard is fine, mine are from Target I think, but they really help. I have a double curtain situation with blinds going on-venetians on the windows themselves, thin opaque white drapes for extra privacy, and then window dressing drapes over those that I just leave tied back to make the place look nicer. Curtains are a great way to add some color and verve to an otherwise plain and boring rental, anon.

Does anyone have good pics that they could share? I'm especially interested in accessories, socks/tights and bags, as my collections are getting big for the space I have and it would be great to store them all neatly.

Asking for lolita specific because most normie pinterest ideas show women with 2 blouses and 2 pairs of shoes, occasionally 3 necklaces. Yeah sure Miss fashion blogger. They piss me off so much because no one ever shows how to organize a realistic amount of items. /rant

I use a children's coat rack for bags. I'm intending to mount it on a lazy susan/turntable since it's in the corner of my room and some of the bags are always gonna be by the wall. This only works if you have a mixture of bags though - I have a mix of larger tote-style bags and shoulder bags, crossbody novelty bags on long shoulder straps, and plush animal bags. Although hanging isn't the best for them because it pulls on the edges and can deform the bag/damage the straps, it's by far the most space efficient way. I have also seen people install shelves to put them on but with the number of plush/novelty bags I own I think this would look messy.

I have a custom free-standing queen size loft bed and overall love it although there are some cons
- no bedside table (I use a tall shelf over the end of the bed if I need anything to be close to me at night
- changing the sheets is a goddamn pain in the ass
- there is no such thing as quiet sex if you have your partner over
I don't find the ladder an issue at all, and I'm short enough that I can sit in my bed - there's 130cm of clearance underneath it. I have never had trouble with falling out although I also had a detachable side rail made just in case, so who knows it may have stopped me falling out in the night.

Yeah the mostly opaque drapes are the way to go. I also had a large window that people could see in and I made some gauzy red curtains to hide the inside but still let light in.

You can also look into those large window stickers that jumble the light so outsiders can't see in but you get all the sunlight.

I have a loft bed since three years now and it was the best idea ever for my room. My room is not that tiny but i have living-room with big sofa, bed-room, working-space and closet all together in just one room. I'm used to sleep in a double-bed since years now. but a 140cm wide bed + a big sofa dont fits together in one room (not when you plan to living there XD).
To sleeping all time on the sofa was no option for me and i also dont like to turn my bed in a sofa .
then i bought my loft bed and now i have my bed OVER my sofa xD. perfect way to use the hight of the celling in my appartment.

And climp up the ladder every night is not difficult when you have the right kind of loft bed. no metal-ones. made of wood is better. and the steps of the ladder should be wide enough for your feets. (metal ladders hurts and they are cold D: but wood is perfect)

I live with a male, and my living room is much more masculine.

It's main color is red with accents of jewel tones and wood. It's got his record player and everything. I borrow inspiration from Victorian 'smoking' rooms and opium dens.

But I feel you. I moved into a terribly small apartment from a 2 story townhouse and I'm still rearranging my living room. Multifunctional furniture is a godsend.

Always working on my room... Since I last posted I bought an arm chair. I still want to paint the back of a couple shelves light pink and switch my desk contact paper from chevron to light pink. I need a new desk chair someday, thinking maybe just a white dining chair from ikea instead of an office chair. I need curtains (not sure what kind) and I plan on adding a detolf either where the dressform is or next to the lamp. Or, I could put it somewhere with the TV. The TV area can really look a little blocky

I also have a random ass plastic tote full of all of my kimono. I have no idea where to put these. No closet space left (it's crammed in there) and this is 1 of 2 closets in our apartment. I thought about a small chest of drawers like a malm or something but not sure it would be big enough.

I used to be super messy when I was a kid and grew into a cleanlier person. Like the ugly ducking that grew up to become a beautiful swan, but with cleaning. I have a few tips that may or may not help:

>Get rid of shit to cut down on clutter.

I follow a rule that goes something like "if I haven't even looked at this in 2 years/6 months/etc then it needs to go and if I need it again I could probably buy a new one." It's worked nicely for me. I either donate it or throw it away depending on the condition the stuff is in. It also makes you feel good inside in a way, like a sense of accomplishment and freshness.

>Can't get rid of stuff, look for storage solutions.

Bins, boxes, shelves, whatever you need to keep it out of sight to make your room look nicer. I have a tendency to shove shit into drawers and forget about them so maaaaybe I'm not the #1 person to talk about this.

>Keep up with it.

Take some time to at least dust and vacuum every once in a great while, maybe once a week or so. I'd imagine this is for folks who don't necessarily have clutter but still can't seem to get up and straighten things out. Soon you may find yourself getting annoyed that things aren't neat if you make it into a habit.

Anyway, that's all I can think of. I hope someone finds this advice helpful, if not you.

Might be a bit hard because if you want to incorporate mostly black it's going to look a bit oppressive on your space. Maybe large mirrors and using mostly white so light reflects around the room more easily?

Things on the walls I find usually make the room more cluttered/closed in as well, even in a lighter coloured room so ig use wall deco sparingly. I don't know how much of my advice will apply to you but I hope it helps somehow!

It is possible to be cute with dark furniture. I don't know if you are asking about cute goth rooms or cute rooms with dark furniture.

Kuromi home decor is hard to find, but does exist. On the cute side, Hello Kitty makes non-gothic room decor/bedding that coordinates with black furniture.

There's a plethora of bedding, curtains, pillows, and rugs that partner black with sparkles, rainbow accents, animal prints, and plush fabrics.

You can partner it with pink and throw in fun accents such as a star-shaped pink rug. Pastel and black will have a very chic/French feel while hot pink is easier to find.

Blue and black is often paired together as well. You'll just have to find items that go with black!

I hope that helps... you can certainly have a black bedroom that is not gothic or even gothic and cute. Half of my room is a lot cuter then the side with the bed.

Cat boxes don't smell as long as you scoop it 2+ times a day, which is how often you're supposed to clean it. And I mean the smell is even less noticeable if you're using a scented litter. Really the only time you smell a cat box is if it hasn't been cleaned in ages or if your cat just took a big smelly poop, and both of those scenarios have an easy solution - scoop and/or clean out the box.

Have a lot of money. Nah, I'm kidding... kind of. I always go all out for Halloween because decorations are cheap, and the cheap decorations look good. With Christmas it's a lot harder because cheap decorations usually look super terrible.

Fake flowers are always acceptable to bring in reds and greens. Fake holly, poinsettias, fir, and pine-cones are easily found at dollar stores this time of year. I think tinsel garlands can look really nice. I actually prefer them around windows over lights.

If you had a lot of money, you could easily get a pink and white tree, make/find a cute lace tree skirt, and buy plenty of ornaments with say... rocking horses, bows, angels, and such for a very sweet lolita themed tree. I know on the darker side, purple and black with accessories like Nightmare before Christmas is popular.

You need a lot of money.

My boyfriend and I are living together starting this summer, and our compromise was that the bedding will be neutral, but we each get our half of the bedroom to decorate, and the other can't complain haha. The bedroom is huge, and I'm hoping I can convince him to let me decorate the area with the bay window but we'll have to see... Honestly I feel like this would only work if your bedroom isn't part of the main "entertaining space" for guests, or if you want it to look cohesive. Since my half of the room will be pink with figures and his half will be airplanes, ODST stuff, and a pin-up Nuka Cola poster. No advice for the living room, though... Since my boyfriend trusts my decorating in a cute but relatively neutral fashion. I'll drop some pics when we move in and finish setting up!

On that topic though, any advice for apartment decorating? I can't drill into the walls nor can I paint, but I can use nails/pins/etc. to hang things. It's a student apartment so they're pretty strict on the rules about that kind of stuff, too. I guess I'm mainly asking about cute decorations that can be hung with command hooks/thin nails. (All my things I'll be grabbing from my room back home can only be hung with nails because of the weight so I have to start from scratch...)

If u like to hang up posters and shit on your walls, try to have everything in matching color frames. It fills out a room nicely without looking too cluttered. I use command strips for heavy frames and I find push pins are strong enough for small frames or posters with lightweight frames

I don't really do posters, but thank you! I'm thinking more of decorations though, since I can't really do any shelving or units that I had to secure to the wall with screws... Those were my main sources of providing decoration in the past.

Missed the other half of my reply, oops! I'll recommend the frames to my boyfriend though, maybe even offer to do it for him.
