All that being said, I never understand when people make these threads because when I got into lolita, it was because I saw a dress I wanted. Like a specific dress. Then I saw others I wanted.

anyway, do yourself a favor and buy secondhand burando so that you know your main piece doesn't look awful. not to say there isn't cringeworthy brand, but if you're a new lolita and wearing all bodyline it's pretty obvious. pad your wardrobe with offbrand.

i like OTT and toned down sweet and wear it on a near daily basis. just look at a bunch of photos and learn how to style yourself because styling/poor taste is the issue with inexperienced lolitas.

Really anon, the fact is sweet's a pretty big style. It'll help if you post some themes you're interested in. Do you like animal prints? Florals? Chocolate or candy prints? It's a little tricky to just say 'I like sweet, what should I start with?'

That's definitely not what I'm getting from OP. Her question's basically "tell me what to buy" and "tell me where to buy". Both of the questions could be answered by a simple google search to get cute, cheap indie brand recommendations. Hell, she could have made an indie general or looked into the archives for that matter. If she's been a fan of the clothes for years, she should already know what direction she wants to take her fashion in, hell, I'd argue she should already know exactly where she should start looking and have an idea on what sort of dresses she wants to get.

It could just be a language barrier, but OP stinks of newfaggotry, which is where the knee-jerk reactions are coming from.

Like I said, I can't treat the fashion this way. To me there is no direct answer for what to buy for this fashion or any fashion really. It depends on what the person enjoys.

I do like certain dresses and color combinations, but my question was mostly regarding the practical aspects (which was answered by the fyeahlolita link), and regarding stores (I didn't know about lacemarket, for example, dunno which new indie/taobao brands appeared and what is dead).
As well as small 'don't', such as if there's some color combination or particular item that is now seen as ita or something (OTT sweet does not seem to be a thing anymore?).

You need to start somewhere to get the ball rolling. You might think you like something when you start out, and then realize it doesn't suit you or you don't like it as much as you think. Doing your own thing is fine if you have a clear cut idea of what you want and how to go about it, but as OP said here >>9198012, she was asking exactly what everyone else thought she was asking and, surprise, googling "lolita guide" and "where to buy lolita" would have given her all the answers she needed.
