I see this pop up on so many threads, how are people this retarded - it's the camera height. The picture is obviously taken from higher than waist height, which often creates weird proportions for legs, which in lolita is really obvious as compared to normie fashion, since the skirt shape is a big part of an entire outfit. The best height for lolita is either stepping back a bit, or lowering the camera.

Also, that girl is super short, she's probably 5'1" but still, I think the camera height has more to do with this than anything.

This exactly. The dress isn't lolita, it's an old school Boz gothic nun dress, which has been badly styled. Getting a petti to fit it would be tricky as its a very short dress, but not impossible. It doesn't need much poof, just something to balance the outfit more. The socks don't quite work, imo, especially as the dress is more of a yellowish Ivory than pale cream irl. The headdress definitely doesn't work, especially with her hair, and it doesn't work with the dress. It's a lovely dress, but not the easiest to style well. I've noticed that people with unnatural shades (fire engine red, bright burgundy etc.) of dyed red hair in general tend to be nuts or at least really annoying, especially if it's also cut very short. I guess you could say this of all people with unnatural hair colours if you're so inclined but from experience, bright red dyed hair is practically a red flag for obnoxiousness placed right there on a person's head. Add cat-eye or hipster glasses and a "sassy fat girl" persona and you've probably got someone I'd like to shoot out of a cannon.

As a fatass, I can lay part of the blame for this on the people making the clothes. A few years ago I commissioned a skirt from Lady Sloth. Told her I was fat, gave her my measurements, told her that I was aware I would need extra fabric to make the skirt hang right and offered to pay for that extra fabric.
The skirt I got after all that still didn't have enough volume for a petticoat. I can wear it as a normal fag skirt I guess, but I was disappointed because I thought I ordered everything correctly.

There's the answer right there. Clothing sizing has changed over the years. Perhaps Marilyn was wearing a 14...in 1950's sizing. But of course a lot of fat women only think in terms of todays sizing and think that things were always these measurements because the numbers are the same.
