We met almost two years ago now, our first date was at a tea house, she turned up in lolita and I thought, gosh, she looks so beautiful. We went back to the same place for our anniversary and proposed to each other a year later ^^

Also tattoo issue anon, they're totally part of a sleeve, it's a work in progress : ) And they're supposed to look a bit doodly, I had a fellow illustrator and friend draw them up for me so they're exactly what I want so far, just nor finished yet. Also, my hair is such an issue, there's so much of it even with an undercut, and it never sits right. I'm going to get it cut after the next big tea party event and have a fringe, but I have such little time generally that I can't always make it look good. If you have any advice please advise me! I would appreciate it : D I wash it every two days, I use a heavy conditioner on it too, I never blow dry or straighten, what am I doing wrong?

When you say "wash every two days" what do you mean? Wet it under water, use shampoo? Do you use heat to style your hair?

A good portion of your hair problems will be solved with a hair cut.

Since you've got a curly style, you need to add volume to your top as well.

Try using a hair mask, and no shampoo. Washing it by standing in the shower is fine enough, and add conditioner every day. Thinner hair tends to flyaway (you can see it in your own pics) so the best way to deal with that is make it look intentional like pic related. Her hair is in loose curls that clearly aren't supposed to look regimented and symmetrical on both sides, or in any kind of order. It's a natural go with the flow look that makes flyaways look effortlessly graceful instead of a few random rebellious strands. See how she has volume up top, even though it's very mild? The way the bangs and layers are cut is giving her thinner hair a boost by using the natural curl. Just because you have a lot of hair doesn't mean it isn't thin, so use the volume you do have by grace of quantity to make up for the thinner individual strands.

I would also dye the top part of your hair either a little darker or a little lighter. Right now the halfway point it's at isn't flattering. Either add depth with a reddish-brown tint, or go completely in the opposite direction and make it lighter for an ethereal look.

So, I wash it every two days with shampoo and conditioner, and the days in between I tie it up when I'm in the shower so it doesn't get wet.

I've tried layers in the past and they've always made my hair look worse, and I really dislike them T__T I'll try conditioning it between washes and see if that helps, and look into hair masks.

My hair has been healthier since I laid off bleaching it, I just do the ends now very occasionally. I can't make my hair darker, I've tried, and hairdressers have tried, last time someone tried to dye my hair dark it actually lightened it, hahah... I was planning on bleaching it when I get it cut short again and dying it all either silvery or lilac. The violet that I have in my hair currently I redo once a month, it's a conditioning dye, too. It lightens over the course of the month to a very pale lilac, then I do it over.

So! Yes. I'll try conditioning it more and hair masks and things. It's so fwoofy.

I hate how the smell lingers when I use ACV rinses. I've tried being really thorough about rinsing it out, I've tried diluting it until it's hardly even there, but I just can't stand the smell.

Once a week shampoo. Every other day, wash your hair and condition. Rinse the conditioner out. If you have hard water in the area you live, get a filtration system for your shower. And I call bullshit on not being able to make your hair darker. There's no special snowflake hair that takes lilac and not brown. If you've had issues like that, get a better stylist because they're fucking up. Also, if you hate layers, I'm going to guess they were fucked up layers. Get long layers, they'll be barely there but your hair up top will be lighter allowing it to spring up.

I tried to dye my hair black three different times with no success, and then my hairdresser tried about a year ago? And it lightened it instead. I don't know how that works, but I've given up. As long as I bleach it I can dye it any colour I like (I.E, silver, lilac... it's been pink in the past).

Not that anon but getting a salon-quality clarifying shampoo goes a long way. I recommend Kenra as it's meant to be able to be used "daily".
Also if your hair is naturally curly you can certainly wait longer in between washes. There are really cute bathing caps if you look hard enough!

Wrong about how often to shampoo. It is not a one size fits all. Stretching washes is particularly bad for people with seborrheic dermatitis. It is best to start every other day, give your scalp time to adapt, move onto to once every three days, repeat. Some people like me cannot go past once every three days or my scalp gets itchy and unbearable, even with dry shampoo.

All these cute lolita couples, it's kind of like looking at pairs of fluffy kittens snuggling or playing with each other.

Update: I talked to my friend (and Housemate), and my fiance, and they told me I'm washing my hair all wrong. My fiance washed my hair for me and talked me through it, apparently I knot it all up when I wash it, and then brushed it when it's this big ball of knotted wet hair. She used less shampoo, more conditioner, and then once I was out I didn't brush it, I put it up in a towel, and then once it was dryer she put a different conditioner in it and brushed it out. It's super smooth now, so... so far so good. Apparently I'm just a massive noob when it comes to haircare? And I'm just finding this out aged 28.
