Just to get things back on track... if you are need of more curves you can try a padded undergarment. Else anything will probably serve you fine as long as it isn't too visible (black may show through sheer light colored fabrics).

I happen to enjoy the feeling of having shaved legs, too.

This is probably a basic question, but I'm having a hard time figuring out sizing. I'm debating getting some cospatio stuff, and I don't want to mess it up by getting something that doesn't fit.

There are a bunch of measurements listed: bust, waist, hip, length, shoulder width, and sleeve length. The hip and waist measurements seem to indicate it will fit okay, but the shoulder width has me a bit worried. It's not a circumference, so is it supposed to be max width? Width when flat? Something else?

I'm never quite sure what to trust when it comes to sizes because I'm pretty skinny, but I guess I have broader shoulders.

In my experience, if it's not the circumference being used for measurements it's the width of the garment at that spot when it's laid flat.
For these measurements I usually find something I own that fits nicely, lay it flat and measure that, instead of measuring across my body

Epilating is way better than shaving and way more convenient than waxing if you want to maintain hair removal. Odd tip but I found headphones and music really helps to distract from the pain/noise (the pain definitely gets less but I find the noise terrifying aha)

Brolita is just a male that does lolita, so all the regular lolita rules apply. Lolita is hyper feminine and is meant to look very good/elegant so it requires effort. I'm a casual makeup grill so my advice may not be the best but if you want to start off simple here's how I do my "I just need to leave the house not looking like shit" look.

1. Primer. I use ELF's $6 Mineral Face Primer. It's in a clear/white bottle and it goes on like a gel and dries to a powdery soft finish that kind of blurs your face to look nicer. It's cheap and highly effective.

2. Liquid Foundation / BB Cream. Your choice which but for a lighter look I use BB Cream. If you've got stubble/shadow going on, I'd use a thicker foundation or a BB Cream that's recommended for covering blemishes.

3. Powder. Get either a powder to match your skin tone or get one of the translucent powders that's meant to go with everything and just make sure your liquid layer is covered to finish the look and avoid having a sticky face.

4. Blush. Don't get something super bright and tacky. Just go for a nice subtle color or a light pink and when you apply, make a fish face by sucking your cheeks in so you can see where your cheekbones are. You're going to swipe up along your cheekbone and along that line to highlight your cheekbones instead of just making two circles on your cheeks and calling it a day.

5. Mascara. It's probably intimidating but it's not that hard. You just carefully apply along the underside of your eyelashes from root to tip and kinda slightly jiggle the applicator from side to side to make your eyelashes not clump together. No one wants spider leg lashes. You will make derpy faces and it's surprisingly easier to apply mascara with your mouth open than anything else. No idea why but most people do it.

Optional: Makeup Sealer. It's a spray you can use to minimize the chance of smudging or sweating off your makeup. Don't bother unless you really want to preserve a lot of hard detailed work. If you're going more natural looking then you'll just be spraying your face for nothing and that stuff is sticky. Not worth the hassle.

Cheaper stuff will look and feel cheap in comparison, especially things like foundation/concealer. But I definitely recommend getting cheap stuff first to learn and practice. Diff anon than you quoted but I just put on my makeup to go out so I can answer real quick. Right now I've got primer + BB Cream + powder and my face is pretty dang sturdy. You can touch your face without ruining anything just don't go rubbing your fingers all over. If you poke your face it'll feel a little.. what's the word, dewy? Like it's not sticky/oily or anything if you've got powder on over your liquid but your skin doesn't feel dry and you can tell you've got something akin to lotion on in some places while others will feel completely normal. I think it just depends on your skin since my T-zone (forehead and nose) feels ordinary while my cheeks have that lotiony feel.

Like I told an anon further up, if you're worried get a barrier spray. I think there are some for ordinary makeup but I got Mehron for my more detailed cosplay makeup and I'll use that and aside from the first rush of "Oh jesus fuck this is sticky!" once you spray it directly into your facial region, it does an AMAZING job at preserving your makeup. Just avoid getting it near your eyelashes because they will stick together if coated too much. I made that mistake the first time I used it.

Impressive! I think you've got a strong base to work off already so passing is not much of an issue. Contouring to fit the aesthetic really depends on which character you intend to pull off, since make characters can range from the slender Bishounen type characters to more muscular and built characters. If you want a good starting contour palette try the one by sleek. I quite like the effect.

Thanks so much! In the past I've just applied my regular makeup minus the blush and mascara/eyeshadow but with everyone going above and beyond with crossplay makeup these days I really want to step up my game.

A friend of mine, a girl, wants to make a bunnysuit for cosplay, and she'd like to do one for me as well, since they're my favorite things in the world. I believe I can pass in most regards, but I'd like to ask some necessary things.

One, and I cannot seem to find what I'm looking for on Google, do there exist elbow gloves that are practically the same material as stockings, dark and translucent, but on the arms? Everything I see looks silky or leather, which wouldn't work. I need these because those close to me would get suspicious if I shaved, but my upper arm area and shoulders are completely bare. Second, she says she'll have to take my measurements later on, but are there steps I can take preemptively to make things easier for when the time comes?

If you aren't flexible enough to get your arm up and pull the armpit skin as tight as possible then epilating is way more difficult and you can catch your skin in the epilator, which I guess is why people don't recommend it. I personally prefer waxing to epilating as I can just rip out most of the hairs if they're trimmed to the correct length in 2-3 strips rather than needing to go through the awkwardness of epilating that area.

If you're shaving etc. as close as possible, make sure to use a good primer before you apply any foundation! It'll help create a smooth 'base' that'll cover pores/shaving marks so your skin will look smoother when foundation is applied.

I leave my beard to grow out at least 1-2 mm before a con, shaving in the morning right before I apply makeup. Let your shaving gel/foam sit on the hairs abit before you shave against the grain with a good razor. One or two passes should give you a very clean shave. Try not to go over the same area too many times cause it might irritate your skin and give you another thing to worry about (reddish tinge or worse, a burning sensation)

According to others in this thread, epilating will hurt most the first time,but as long as you epilate regularly it should be fine.
I don't know much about shapewear, but many people recommends it to help with tummy and hips.

for bra sizing: get a flexible tape measure, loop it under your nipples, read where it meets, that is your band size. Pick a cup that you want, that is your cup size.
for shopping: online, or man the fuck up and go to a store that sells bras in person.

An epilator will leave you looking like a feathered chicken if your skin is very fair toned and depending on the thickness of your hair. In that case you would be better off trimming with a bikini trimmer and wearing nude colored leggings.

Shapewear works only if a) you're trying to hide a buldge and/or b) you have fat with which the shapewear can shape (i.e. you're not a skeleton like me). If you want added shape, use a cincher or wear padding.

I'm not confident enough to do this outside right now but I'm enjoying just wearing comfy skirts around the home, especially since it's summertime and they keep nice and cool

If you're wearing nylons, they'd be easy to hide, especially if you layer up and wear two or three pairs at once. That would also help hide not only leg hair, but slightly smooth out the musculature on the legs and make them look a bit more feminine.

An old roommate of mine used to be a female impersonator, not the clownish looking drag queen type but the classy type, and that was a something I learned from him. He also used to make his own hip and butt pads from foam chair cushions, and when used with layered nylons they created amazing looking fake hips.

Just posted same costume for different reasons in another thread, but I'm having difficulty trying to give myself that "man, but feminine man" look. I detest it when it looks like ftm crossplayers looks like they have tons of makeup on their face so get worried about contouring much more than I do already.

Use a binder. The Underworks Ultimate Tank Binder goes all the way down to your hips so acts as general shapewear for your whole torso as well. Please do not use sports tape, unless you're open chest binding, in which case try to minimize the number of hours you're in the binding. Never ever use ace bandages.

I do agree about the spaghetti straps; I'd avoid them with your body type. This dress is really doing nothing for you- something with shape (like a circle skirt, whether half, 3/4, or full) or something that creates an illusion of curves will help a lot imo.
Flouncier tops. A push-up bra/ bra with inserts.Trumpet sleeves will be your pretty little slim arms' friend and IMO looks very girly. show off that collarbone but try to not wear very tight tops. Generally things like peplums, off the shoulder dresses/tops, etc. You can do all of this just with some basic clothes and you don't have to cinch your waist (which is dangerous and unhealthy and I don't recommend it).

If you'd like I can reply with some photo examples of this. My other main thought was makeup. False eyelashes and blush always make me feel really feminine.

Lower necklines are actually better for passing purposes because they draw attention away from the base of the neck. Unless OP happens to get the right sized collar, peter pan collars are more likely going to make his shoulders look broader. The character I'm crossplaying next wears sheer black pantyhose. That's cool and all but I'm starting to develop serious quads from working out/martial arts and they're starting to become visible through the semi-transparent fabric. As for why my first project is crossplay, I've been crossdressing as a hobby for years anyway. Also if there's no sense of scale, say in a picture or standing by yourself, You should be fine even if you're a lanky giant. If suntanned, start wearing sunscreen faithfully and exfoliate often. If naturally darker in tone, nothing outside of professional bleaching, though sunscreen + exfoliating helps keep all skin the lightest it can be in either case and can help prevent the dullness that makes skin seem darker too.

It depends on what you're looking to wear.

If it's something that you can get away with wearing opaque tights and a set of arm warmers with, you can avoid most of the shaving (for your body, at least). Black will hide the best, if that's a color that will match.

Sometimes there is, sometimes not. Basics are foundation and concealer for your skin type and color, translucent powder to set them. Then powder highlighting and contour, one lighter, one darker than your skin shade. Eyeliner, mascara and a neutral eyeshadow palette, 4 or more shades. Lip liner and lipstick. Brushes, sponges, tweezers. Those are general basics after hair removal and any skincare you need to do. Most people benefit from a makeup primer and sealing spray. But if you are overwhelmed and don't know what goes where yet, watch makeup tutorials for basic makeup first before shopping at all until you get the idea of what goes where, why and in what order. Many people spend more on foundation, concealer and primer because the more flawless your skin looks, the better everything else looks. Mascara and eyeliner need to be tossed every 3 months unless it is a pencil liner you sharpen. Everything else should have a symbol on it, usually a makeup pot and month number for how long to keep it.

I often see people in these threads and other places give the advice that guys who decide to grow their hair out need to make sure they wash, style and brush it so it doesn't look poo.
I've been growing my hair out for a while now, but how the heck do I style my hair? What does it mean? I thought a lot of girls left it at washing and brushing anyway.

As someone with long hair already I can say that if you want to do natural hair, you're gonna need to style it to hide your (probably) masculine hairline, and the way it frames your face can also help hide more masculine details. As for how to style it, well I suggest find a style you like, copy it, and post somewhere for feedback, change it a bit, and get more feedback.

How do crossdressers even get into J-fashion? Asians have smaller frames than Americans and women have smaller frames than men. I'm having trouble finding anything that can fit my waist (89cm). I thought I was good on my weight, I'm in the normal category and I don't want to lose more.

89cm is 35inches apparently which is a pretty big waist IMO. I wear J-fash and I wear a 28 inch waist on my hips but I can fit a 26 inch, I don't know what my actual measurements are though.

It depends on what you like though, I can't speak for Lolita but VK has used drawstrings a lot lately, streetwear like LISTEN FLAVOR generally uses them less but there are some exceptions.
