Pinoko is getting close to done for ACen (the shirt is filler because I seem to have misplaced the real one- I might wear a white one instead, making the socks filler). I can't decide whether I should wear the skirt above my natural waist which is more accurate or just wear it at my natural waist which is more flattering.
I've run into so many problems with what was supposed to be a simple costume and I just want it done.

Will do! I'm also working on a glorified closet cosplay of Dr. Kisaragi because I'm trash (and needed to work on tailoring) but the 70s were such a fashion disaster that I can't tell what looks good and what looks bad anymore- I think I've narrowed it down to two looks? I can't wait to start ventilating sideburns!

I don't think your chest sticks out too much but I'm not really sure what you're shooting for exactly.

>> No.8995840

>>8995431

I think I remember you posting about doing Dr Kisaragi before, good luck with it ! I'd love to see that one too. I'm shit at fashion, but I think I like the look on the right better ?

Regarding the chest problem, it's for a crossplay so I'm trying to be as flat as possible, but after thinking back on it I recall that I was standing just under the light source (also it was night), so that might be why it seemed more visible to me compared to older pictures. I'll try to take pictures with better lighting to see if there's a difference.

%90 of my stuff is Sintra, I find it easier to get a clean look, though you loose in terms of durability. You can take a spill in an EVA suit, no so much a sintra one.

Cut by hand with a razor knife and bonded/gap filled with a thick slow cure type CA glue. Excess is then sanded smooth.

I did a pretty crappy tony cosplay for last fanime and for mine I took a few strips of cardboard and glued them inside the mask to make it more rigid

Thank you!

I paid about US$33 on it, I think. I initially ordered a more expensive one (not muuch though, about $50) that was higher quality with no plans on changing it, but it was sold out, so I clicked around and found that one; the stock image IIRC looked better than what I got, but when I realized I was downgrading I decided to challenge myself.

I honestly hate sewing and I frankly suck at it, but I am a stickler for accuracy & really enjoy embellishing costumes and adding small details. Usually that doesn't happen though with my costumes because by the time I shop, cut, and sew, I'm completely burned out from it, have no time, and stop caring, and when I actually put the costume on, I'm full of regrets. So I figured if I was able to at least get a base from this, the biggest hurdle for me would already be done for me, and I could do what I wanted.

When I pulled it out I was just going to change a few things, but the more I worked with it, the more I decided to change and alter.

Rather aggravated. Ordered larp armor from a guy in Italy. Gave him measurements, and it came back fucking half assed. Got my friends dad, who works in the SCA to fix it up a little. The only problem is the gorget, which is supposed to be curved but remains flat and pointed towards the neck. I've tried to flex it and mold it back into the shape its supposed to be, but over time it returns to it's default position. Note it is already dyed and painted. So, water treatment is out.

Honestly I'm probably going to make them out of craft foam and then make them some sort of clips to put on the wig. It seems to be the easiest way to do it because there's no way they'll stay on a facemask. Its so thin its like its not even a mask half the time.

Taking a break from the gambeson to work on the chausses (I haven't cut the extra fabric at the top yet so that's why it looks a bit wonky). So far so good even if the left one is a bit looser than the right, I might do some ajustements before doing a flat felled seam for cleanliness, and I plan on adding a facing at the top to strenghten the fabric since it will be tugged upwards by the belt once I add laces.

I'm working on Farnese right now, here's a photo from yesturday when I was gluing some of the details onto it. This is my first time working with sintra and it's a bit of a pain in the as. So far I like it a lot more than craft foam though so there's that. I also love how smooth the surface is and how little work it takes for it to be ready for paint.
I do have one question about the material though... What do people usually use to glue sintra to itself or to other materials (like vinyl or fabric)? I tried some titelock two part epoxy and it didn't work too well, same with hot glue and superglue.

use earth magnets. Super crazy strong. You can glue one to your quiver, and just use the other on the under side of your cape unattached so it'll stay in place.

I did that for my Volibear costume a couple years ago. It held all weekend through a layer of thick vinyl and faux fur.
Since the magnet won't be attached to the fabric at all, you can still wash it worry free.

I had to do a few adjustments for the top (I didn't know which shape I wanted, so I just let a bunch of fabric there at first) and the calf, but aside from taking some time to make sure the fit was right, they were really easy to do (at least compared to that damn gambeson...). Never done any kind of real cosplay before. Sort of kinda want to do Soldier 76. I would need to purchase a specially made jacket though. I couldnt imagine doing that on my own. I just need to get past the idea that I don't think I would have the skill to pull it off.

I just started on this. My previous and only cosplay was a suit of steel armor and it's an absolute misery to do anything in. This will be like my casual outfit at cons.

Is this like an OC desert ranger, because it doesn't look like anything I remember from the game?

Piedmont Plastics, Its an industrial plastics distributor that has a location nearby me. Ive also ordered online from Foamboardsource.com in the past.

Update on my Gundam. Torso is still just the paper mock-up. The skirt and forearms are assembled and ready for cleanup/detailing.

The armor is pretty straight forward and easy to build with thick foam mats.

This is my first time working with apoxie sculpt, I like it - don't think I'm doing too shabby for a first go.

Now to repeat this pattern three more times...

Not looking too bad, just make sure you clean up those edges of the apoxie sculpt before you can it a day

Yeah there's some stuff from carving that I'm going to clean up once it hardens a bit, its definitely a work in progress. I can't do much on this one until it cures a bit more though or I'll risk really screwing up the design.

i'm in the planning stages of making the lannister armor.
currently collecting references.
I was thinking EVA would be the way to go.
Or perhaps some thermoplast? maybe even sculpey & silicone mold & fiberglass cast. Or a mix of them?
What do you think /cgl/?

I would try foam, and then etch the details in with a dremel, if you have experience with other forms do attempt to use those. Gl to you man Ive wanted to do a GoT armor set pretty bad, either Vale or Tyrell for me tho.

thanks! I think i will go with EVA.
Time to start patterning.
