Where is the best place to buy her artbooks? Do I still have a chance of getting any of them, and how much should I be willing to pay?

I adore this design and I'd make it, but it would come out as a mass of black ruffles and probably quite unflattering.
I was thinking about doing it in gunmetal grey or dark purple with black details to make it more wearable.

Alice Books has a lot of her stuff, tights and all.

http://alice-books.com/item/list/all?tag=sakizo

They do ship overseas, here's the overseas shipping guide:

For ones that are sold out, you may be SOL. A lot of scalpers caught on to her popularity and sell the books for $40+ before shipping. She's known to do re-releases, though. If you're patient, they'll sometimes come out (she's working on a few right now, because she wanted to add new/improve some of the art, and they're due out in a few months).

Otherwise, Alice Books for new releases is your best bet.

I think her books occasionally appear on surugaya and they have free domestic shipping for orders over 1500 yen. You'd have to use a shopping service for their store though.

In the slim chance you visit Japan, you can find some of her older releases searching through the doujin shelves at Mandarake. In the store (Ikebukuro) I went to, there were a few small books for 1000-2800 yen from her previous Comiket attendances.

I always hate how almost all Sakizo cosplay never seems to translate properly to reality. I kind of wish cosplayers understood it looks kind of "plastic" with such flat and vibrant colors.

Sakizo's artwork is always so subdued with a lot of ivory, not literal whites. Texture and material choices should really be payed more attention to, since it's what gives her art so much character.
Shiny/vibrant wigs and also improperly colored ones are a big issue in all her cosplays as well, like this one here.

>> No.8953309

>>8953290
Aaaargh that bustle is so flat :(

I think the problem is that everyone tries to keep their sakizo cosplays so clean, and they don't consider using materials with subtle patterns or even slightly weathering/adding depth to the fabric.

A lot of sakizo cosplays could be brought to life with high quality matte fabric or even burnt velvet/rich velvet. When I make my own I fully intend to use heavily watered down fabric paint to add texture to the fabric and recreate the watercolour effect of the actual art.

I x-posted in the help thread as well but do you guys think that the girl on the left's dress would translate better as gold/white stripes or yellow/white stripes?
I personally want to go for gold/white but I can't find any fabric that's gold/white stripes other than this home furnishing fabric that won't drape well.

>> No.8954382

>>8954373
Just sew stripes together of two colors of fabric you like. It's not difficult, and if you're attempting a Sakizou cosplay this should be the least difficult thing about the whole process.

Yep I was going to do that if I couldn't find a pre-printed fabric that I like. I was hoping to get it done for a con next month (my only con before moving abroad) but I guess actually cosplaying the character can wait until I get back.

I used to post scans from my artbooks for anons a couple of years ago, especially the older releases, but people started sharing the images to Tumblr, and requesting artbooks right when they came out, so I stopped.

I didn't mind doing it as a favor now and then for people, but it just got to the point where when the new ones came out, people would request scans instead of ordering a copy. And that's not cool. I was perfectly happy sharing the hard-to-find ones that get scalped to hell and back, or which didn't have releases that were available outside of Japan, but people should really support her and buy the new stuff as it comes out.

>> No.8955586,1 [INTERNAL]

here it is, use only for cosplaying and buy all the books please!
