For mori people usually go for neutrals, so darker neutrals and natural shades like forest green, ash, dark brown etc might be good. Maybe using a cooler neutral for the lips like some cold pink tones ?

What kind of eyeliner do you gulls perfer?

I prefer the gel kind you apply with a brush, but to be honest I've never tried anything else.
Can you get similar results with pencils and whatever else there is?

i liked using liquid eyeliner but i lost a lot of my upper lashes because of it. this is back when i just started using make-up so it was my own fault.
i like pen eyeliner, but it's harder to get that perfect wing with eyeliner pens than with the liquid eyeliner.
i avoid pencil eyeliner because it smudges off too easily and doesn't come out sharp enough.

I use Stila's pen liner. It has a bit of a learning curve if you're used to liquid or gel. It's easier to put on imo and that particular brand stays all day.

Also, does the redish-pink shadow style like >>8904184 and >>8904186 actually look good outside of tutorials like that? I want to try but I spend so much time correcting redness that it feels counter-intuitive to put more back on my face.

Does anyone here have some makeup tutorials or inspo for makeup that'd suit lolitas with glasses? I've looked online but I can only seem to find very bold eye makeup and the usual tip is to slide the glasses down your nose so you can apply the makeup but that doesn't seem to work for me. My number is pretty high so I really can't see well enough to apply makeup without my glasses on and don't have the option for contacts.
Pictured are my eyes without makeup at all, I usually colour in my eyebrows a bit but that's about it.

Have you tried a magnifying mirror anon? I wear glasses too, and I use a light up 10x magnifying mirror to see when I do my makeup so don't have to wear glasses.
Also, if you wear glasses you will have to go bold with the eyemakeup or no one will be able to tell you're wearing any past your glasses.

have you looked much into asian eyeshadow palettes? lately it seems like K-beauty brands have been about pink eyeshadows. there's pic related, etude house's fantastic color eyes - rose garden, and play color eyes juice bar. both of them have browns, which is kind of inevitable in most palettes, but there's definitely more of the pinks and oranges you're looking for.

Look up, pull down the lower eyelid with your middle finger on the hand that has the contact, pull up the upper eyelid with your opposite hand, and pop the contact lens in.

If you like a softer look, glasses will hide it. Go bold like >>8904525 said - it looks loud with your glasses off but it will look more muted once you wear them.

I would recommend filling in your eyebrows with an eyeshadow that matches your natural color. For eyes, use primer and go with a light gold/peach/soft brown eyeshadow and blend a medium brown shade in the crease. Use liquid eyeliner on your top lid and do a small wing (you will think it stands out a lot but it won't once you put your glasses on). Use a rosy color for blush and if you know how to, contour your face.

I'd post a picture of how I do my makeup when I wear glasses but I don't want to out myself. The attachment might help, I would go a bit more bold than what is pictured.

what BB creams do you guys like? I don't care if it's asian or western, but I do not want anything whitening/brightening, and I would like something that comes at least in 2-3 shades. I have a medium/olive skintone with yellow undertones and so if something is too light/one shade it looks a bit odd on my skin. I don't even know where to start with the asian ones because there's just so many it seems, but I was looking at the Dr. Jart ones from sephora and some of the reviews sound good but I thought I'd ask people here for their opinions. As for my skin type, normal, no noticeable pores, no issues with redness although it can be pink occasionally, but overall I have pretty clear skin. Just looking for something light to even out my skintone, foundation is a bit heavy for me for the times that I do want to put something on my face.

Ive been given around 1k (I think like 900 dollars ish) worth of make up by a friend. All brand new, Hourglass and Sisley brand. I don't know anything about make up though....

less/no eyeliner, but perhaps some brown (or whatever color your eyelashes are) mascara. but mascara that is going to separate and lengthen your lashes that isn't going to be clumpy/obviously look like there's mascara on your eyes.
you may also want to try making your eye look slightly bigger - instead of the usual white pencil use the NYX wonderpencil in their lightest shade - it's more of a skintone pale color than just a bright white.
other than that idk, I would say to just keep your makeup overall as natural as possible, less eye makeup but more face makeup.

I'm someone that was an only child and my mother never wore makeup and any female relatives lived far away so I never had anyone to learn makeup from. Honestly, it's just about experimenting and playing around on your own. In middle school I was super into youtube beauty gurus and I would just play with makeup once in awhile. Either getting my stuff out and just playing around on my own, or following along to a tutorial on youtube. If you know nothing, it's best to start small rather than outright trying to go do the hyper glamourous like kim kardashian sexy smokey eye with extreme contouring. Practice how to apply pencil liner, practice liquid/gel liner (if you find yourself having trouble with liquid I highly recommend trying gel liner with an angled pencil brush. I know it sounds scary, but if you're a beginner or someone with a shaky hand I think it gives you far more control and is less apt to fuck up whereas liquid moves around a lot and is sensitive to shakes etc Although if you want to stick with liquid, try a foam tip liner. I also like the They're Real! push-up gel liner by Benefit.), practice putting on just one shade of eyeshadow and blending it out, move on to two shades, etc. There's honestly so many fucking beauty videos on youtube these days, there should be a lot of videos geared specifically towards newbies. Again, though - practice is key. You aren't going to be making expert sharp cat wing liquid liner the first time you watch a video. It took me ages to get right when I was younger but I got good by taking the time to practice.

Biggest thing to understand is certain things aren't gonna look perfect the first time you do it and that's fine, just take your time and try not to do complicated looks too soon.

Same thing with brushes; youtube can help you for that.

I learned by asking friends how to apply makeup and what products they recommended. YouTube and IG are a big help too, especially for learning the basics and for product reviews.

For brushes, each one has a specific purpose. I use my eyebrow, blush, tapered foundation, eyeshadow blender, and powder brushes daily and I need those exact ones for one task only. Buy a small kit and experiment with them to get a feel for how they work.

Another brand where you can make your own palette that has a variety of shades is Inglot. Underrated, lesser-known brand in the US I think (I rarely hear anyone speak about them, the only reason I know of them is because I've heard about them through xsparkage from youtube) with some really amazing quality products. Their gel liner is probably the best. They have this thing called the "freedom system" and they have a bunch of palettes of varying sizes, all magnetic, and you make all sorts of palettes out of them. Just lips, just blush, just shadows, a mix of those, etc.

I have really fat monolids, and the way I get around them is with natural looking falsies desu. If I look up, I get a fake crease that's above my monolid, and it's easier to get that fake crease when I have the band of the falsies there to help crease my eye to that point.

In other words, just eyeshadow and a fat line of eyeliner, but the falsies-crease helps my eye look pretty when it's open. It's still a really subtle crease, but it's one way to get around monolids, I suppose.

I'm cosplaying in a leotard this summer, and not sure what to do about the, um... hair situation.

I need to get all the hair off my thighs, and I guess my private area as well. I don't think just shaving will do the trick, but I've never waxed my peach before and I have no idea what I'm doing.

This is no small feat. I don't know if it's just an Albanian thing, but my lady bits look like they could belong to a bear, they're so damn furry. The dark, thick hairs are like the heads of a hydra - lop one off, three more take its place. I've long since given up on having a cute v-jay with a quaint little patch of pubes. That's just not in the cards for me.

I exaggerate, but yes, I get VERY prominent five o'clock shadow on my legs and privates.

If I do get it clean by some miracle, I guess a pantyliner would prevent cameltoe? That's fine, but I'm worried about the whole thing slipping and giving everyone a look at my goods.

Stick to drugstore if you're just starting out that way if the color doesn't match or it oxidizes you won't lose too much money. Is your skin oily, dry, or combination? Because that is going to change recommendations. And "Ivory" varies across brands, its easier to go out in the stores and compare it to your skintone. I don't really wear drugstore foundation but I've heard good things about Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless if you have oily skin and they have a version for dry skin too.

I am pretty fucking blind and have dealt with this shit for 6+ years and have a lot to say.

put most of the focus on your eyebrows just make them look really fucking good so look for tutorials on that.

if you look at your picture you can see your glasses cover your entire top lid so add detail to your bottom lash line. i usually only put color under my eye usually a nice pink or mint.

decorate your glasses! this may not be an option for you but with my insurance i can get a new pair every year. I do not do this much anymore but i used to put little tiny jems on my glasses (the nail decorating kind) and stickers too. Its really fun and cute when you do it right just dont over do it. It will bring attention to your eyes in a really fun and unique way.

also just get more lolitable glasses your glasses look like you are ready to go teach high school biology. buy some cute pink ones

Sadly I can't get new glasses too often, because even if the frames are cheap my lenses are difficult and cost about 300$ (high number+cylinder+making them as thin as possible.) I've recently developed an allergy to eyelash glue. It's not too bad, I can still wear eyelashes for 3-4 hours but after that my eyelid gets really dry, itchy and swells up a little bit. It's really itchy the day after if I wear it for a full day.

Does anyone have any advice? I've tried all brands on the market in my country and I don't seem to really figure out which chemicals it is I'm reacting to so I'm sort of used to this now, but it would be nice to see if anyone else has had this issue as well

Does anyone know if there's a liquid eyeliner which doesn't partly dry out? All the ones I've tried tend to dry out in the tip and then I have to paint a patch on my hand to get them going again which is not cute.

first time I waxed it was super hard. Had a hand held mirror and made me kind of shakey since it took so long and I was scared of ripping the skin or something. if you're willing to go through that then remember to moisturize and exfoliate gently in the shower. you could also use Nair cream for the sides but the bits that are too cramped and close to put them on use little wax strips. cut them if you need to.
also another anon said to use panty hose. that will help prevent camel toe and even out darker areas. Put a pantyliner on the tights and just get double sized clothing tape to keep the leotard in place?

How i can cover dark eye circles effectively?My skin is super pale, cold/yellowish undertone and western makeup tips suggest me to buy orange concealer, but i fear it would look cakey or weird, i never cake my face with foundation that is darker than my skintone and i do my makeup asian styled despite being white. What's the most idiot-proof eyeliner and eyeshadow? I was dumb and picked a character to cosplay who wears obvious eye makeup and I don't wear eye makeup besides mascara. I have some basic sephora liquid eyeliner from a previous cosplay and I can soooort of do a thin line with it, but I need to do wings and a heavier line and I suck. The tape method helped in my practice session, but I still have a hard time getting a semi straight line across my lids. And I have no idea how to do eyeshadow with liner. Any tips for that or a different eyeliner I should try? (Prefer not to spend over $25 for both.)

I've been thinking about using clay masks.
I usually have pretty clear skin but about once a month I'll get one giant pimple that takes over a week to fully disappear.

Would masks help with this? Is there a cheap-ish effective one I can try out?

I prefer their makeup over their skincare. I don't have much experience with their palettes personally, but I have a few of their eyeshadow singles, and with primer those have lasted me an entire con before with barely any fading. their liquid eyeliner is okay, their primer hasn't done much for me. I've also heard good things about their lip products.

personally I don't wear much pink eyeshadow, so I can't help much on that end, but try searching for swatches and seeing how pigmented they appear on skin.

I'm a super pale olive tone and here's the best ones I've found so far:

The Skinfood is very yellow and I think the darkest of the bunch (all of them are darker and significantly more yellow than my MAC NW10 foundation). The Holika Holika is the palest of the bunch, the Skinfood is the darkest.

Also super-pale and not pink-undertoned, and I struggled to find what worked. Oranges were too dark, other colors never turned out right.

This style of contouring photographs well but it looks like shit and cakey IRL. Your face should never be covered in that much highlighter. It makes your face too heavy and far too masculine.

Try using this guide as a reference instead; it is much more natural and looks WAY better. You need a little bit of contour (cool shade, slightly darker than your skin tone), a warm bronzer (for the love of god do not contour with a bronzer), and just a LITTLE bit of highlighter. The bronzer will bring a healthy glow to the focal points where the sun hits your face. This method imo is superior than re-sculpting your facing with layers and layers of makeup.

Are you wanting to make your jawline and cheeks less harsh? If so, you'll want to contour along your chin. Do not use any highlight around this area. Highlights are used to make the areas more prominent (which we're trying to avoid).

Contour on the sides of your face for your cheeks and use a bronzer in the same location as the photo. Matte blush on apples of your cheeks - do not put blush on your cheekbones.

So, I have very hairy legs (thanks dad) and I can't find a good way of getting rid of it. My hair grows extremely quickly and if I shave a night before I wake up with dark dots all over from the roots growing up. I find the lighter side is too shimmery to highlight the aegyosal, so I only use the brown on my lower lid and use the lighter side over my whole upper lid.

Aegyosal gets ruined when you try too hard to achieve it - blending like four shades of eye-shadow and such.

I also use The Porefessional and I've notice that build up around the nostril sometimes. It may be because you're not blending it well enough. I apply it all over my face with my hands (clean) then use a makeup sponge to further pat it in areas like that.

Do you mean areas of concentrated foundation pigment in your pores?

After some Googling, it seems like oil can break up the foundation pigment and it will slide and settle in pores.

One solution I saw was to do what's called the Wayne Goss method and powder your face before and after your liquid foundation to control oil. I don't know how well this works, but you should know, a full face of foundation will show wear as time passes no matter what. To minimize the oil, you have to make time to blot your face during the day and use a touchup powder. Except for people with conveniently non oily skin, there's no such thing as set it and forget it makeup.

What i find /helps/ if anything is using a friction scrubber/exfoliating scrubber pretty much everyday, plus shaving. these are REALLY good at scrubbing off dead skin, much better than loofahs or those weird dried out winter melon scrubs. if you have underbutt bumps, using one of these on those everyday helps a TON

Ok, so I'm having this issue...every time I put anything on my eyelid I start sneezing uncontrollably. It only happens when I press a liner brush or an eyeliner on my lid. Also putting mascara makes it happen. Plucking my eyebrows makes me sneeze. And not just a tiny sneeze here or there but a full on fit of five sneezes in a row. It's weird because the same thing happened when sunlight shines in my eye and I'm wondering if the two are related. It fucks up my make up, especially my foundation because the sneezing makes my nose run like a fire hose. For starters, I'm pretty fair myself. But it wasn't hard at all to find the right foundation because there's tons of choices out there - just because your drugstore doesn't stock any doesn't mean they're not out there.

It's pure laziness. I used to lurk reddit and these 'me so pale' questions would appear every. fucking. day. Literally google 'pale skin foundation' and at least some of the results are gonna be from reddit. There's even r/PaleMUA, made specifically *for* people with pale skin. Then there's findation, and the foundation/BB/cushion spreadsheet on r/AsianBeauty - all of which are really popular subreddits that appear in google search when you search 'pale skin foundation'. If not, there are billions of other websites with suggestions.

I literally found my foundation shade by 1) watching a Lisa Eldridge video and 2) googling around until I found several acceptable options from the above listed sources. I didn't even swatch them, I literally ordered a cushion in the shade I was told I'd most likely match and that was fucking it.

could be something like photogenic sneezing. the nerves in the face are very close together and sometimes the electrical signals get mussed up. same reason why your eyes water when you pluck hairs! there's no treatment for it unfortunately

I used foundation that looked fine when i applied it but later in the day my face looked sort of orange, is there a way to make this not happen? i'm very new to make up and am trying to learn

What happens to makeup that's returned to Sephora/Ulta? Do they keep the open products as samples? I wouldn't mind buying a product that someone just barely used. Obviously not mascara and stuff, more like pencils and compacts.

I'd imagine if it hasn't been noticeably used or isn't mascara they just put it back on the shelves. I bought some Philosophy liquid foundation from Ulta and saw the pump already had foundation "residue" (as in it had been taken out of the box and pumped at least once) once I got home.

I've actually put in a lot of time and effort into finding foundations that match me, and to be honest, yes it was kind of difficult, although partially because of issues besides my skin shade. I'm not going to say there aren't options, because of course there are, but if I'm being blunt, it's a little frustrating, especially since it seems like it's very popular to be very snarky and dismissive about this topic. Once you get to, say, MAC shade 05 or below, there really isn't much of a selection, and I feel like undertone and formula is almost as important as skin shade. Finding your combination of right shade + right undertone + right formula for can make it tricky.

On the other hand, I can understand the frustration a lot of people seem to have re: the pale skin competition game. Hell, it's something I noticed my friend trying to play with me all the way back in 2005. It is kind of ridiculous and not at all helped by the hyperbole that seems popular among "contestants" (paper-white, milk bottle white, fishbelly, ghost, etc.).

For the record, if you're MAC 05 or below, I'd recommend looking into custom blending (Prescriptives can do it, and they can use white as a base if you ask them although it's considered a special order and there might be coverage issues), or "theatrical" makeup companies like Graftobian or Kett. I know Kett makes an airbrush foundation that runs pretty light, and Graftobian has their Ultra-Lites shades in both a creme foundation and an airbrush foundation. MUFE also released a new shade called Y205 that's pretty light too if you don't skew too far from neutral.

I have an issue with my powder/foundation combo.

When I apply it, I put on my drugstore foundation and then powder on top, just to cover problem areas, not my entire face. that leads to blush sticking to the foundation area and through the day i have awkward areas of orange/pink under my eyes and cheek.

how do i avoid this? what kind of foundation and powder combo should i wear? one that doesnt give my wrinkles that i dont even have would be nice
