WTF sales general.

A thread to make you laugh and enlighten sellers. I'll start off with this, hot off the presses.

Don't bother discussing the normie garbage on LM unless it's something really special

>> No.8687775

...that's a fair price for the particular print/cut, anon. If it's in like-new condition, then that price is definitely justified. It's a fairly popular print after all.

Not so much of a WTF but more of a 'social etiquette for sales'. is it ever appropriate to comment on the amount someone has listed an item for, publicly at least?

>> No.8687795

>>8687780
tbh sometimes I wish this would happen, but not in cases like this where there's high demand for a piece. I just hate seeing newbies get scalped on something like a lucky pack item or similar things.

I don't understand what your issue is with this listing. It's ETC, so it's appropriate to list on LM, and the price is fairly reasonable. What's the problem?

Back to the topic, wtf is with sellers stuffing your envelope with random etsy cards? Is it their friends? Surely no one has 20 different etsy shops of their own

>> No.8688031

>>8687923
Sellers probably swap cards so they can then get promotion when someone buys something from a shop that isn't theirs. Seems like a good idea if it's just a couple of cards.

>> No.8688183

I don't understand people who post things up for sale with photos of their animals either sitting on the clothes or even wearing them.

There's a girl trying to sell an Anna cosplay that she made herself on the Disney cosplayers group. It wasn't too bad but if you go through the photos not only has her dog been on it but also her cat. She even put part of it on the dog.

Does anyone else find that odd?

>> No.8688235

I can't remember where I saw it, might have been LSE, but somebody posted a picture of a pair of wristcuffs modeled on her cat's tail. No thanks, I'll pass on the wrist hives.

>> No.8688253

>>8688183

but no on the pet thing..

>> No.8688359

>>8688183
Hm, it's kinda hard to judge. On one hand, you'd want to present your clothes in a good way and pets are simply not a good way. But on the other hand, it's their choice and they are free to incorporate their beloved pets, since other pet-lovers might find it cute. You are free not to buy it.

>> No.8688379

>>8688253
>>8688359
These weren't exactly proof photos but more like her making it and the process. I just didn't see the point in including them when you're trying to sell something. They were lying on top of the clothing. I love my pets but I don't let them go on my clothes especially when I go to sell them.

>> No.8688394

>>8687780
I think it might be more acceptable to haggle with the seller privately if you must do it. OT but to be fair, this set was pretty cheap to begin with tho, and imo it isn't /super/ popular. I think $150 is reasonable.

I'll concede to that. It just rubbed me wrong to see shock at what's either at or slightly less than retail for a fairly coveted piece upthread. But it IS rare to find one of ETC's cute prints for cheap. The dresses you found aren't impossible to come across, but they take digging. I wouldn't say quite as much as AP and Baby, but goddamn, have I trudged and trudged through clothing looking for some of their cutsew dresses, and they're about average in popularity depending on the print.

Sounds like they're resellers. I honestly don't understand how the "You pay me now and you'll get your order in 2-3 weeks" resellers manage to get any customers because there's no way you can 100% say the item you're sending is good quality.

You have to get the lingerie specialist to order it and come back in for a fitting when it arrives, but its a good option if you've never found one small enough before since you don't have to pay until after trying it on. My friend is also a G cup so she's kind of double-fucked size wise.

Adding onto the craziness in sizes, I'm a 46/30/48 and 6'. I have maybe 4 pairs of proper pants that have been tailored and everything else is skirts. Its a really good thing I like classic with all its corset lacing and being able to use vintage victorian-revival blouses.

If you message the seller about how you weren't happy but don't want a refund or to leave negative feedback, they will never learn. But people DO learn if they had consequences to their actions such as a refund or bad feedback.
The corset lacing thing is enough if you're too embarrassed to say about the shirring.

well idk i mean if you see something in good condition that you want to buy secondhand, you should definitely always ask why they are selling it. they could be selling it because something is wrong with it, and they don't want to tell.
my guess is she knew people were gonna ask, so she just threw that up there as an explanation for why she's selling something in good condition.

There's a lot of nabbing cheap stuff on there, I think, since Parcelforce are absolute w*nkers. It works out a lot cheaper to buy your brand locally, and not pay customs.

I wear lolita almost every day, so it's excellent for me to nab cheap brand to further pad out my wardrobe. I don't mind that things go quickly, but I am sick of people putting up fugly wigs, or Bodyline that's hella marked up. We know what the retail was when you bought it, and we know something similar will come up for half the price within two weeks. Stop bumping your overpriced shit.

Why do they feel like because they're poor, they're entitled to a free costume - a costume that looks REALLY complicated, too? Know what I did when I was too poor to afford costumes? Listed item on LM that I wanted to sell quickly.
Put in description "Only US shipping currently, no international. Sorry for the inconvenience!"
Buyer messages me and says "Please sell me this, I really, really want it, but I live in Europe!"
Tell buyer that international shipping is very expensive, but I'll check the cost of it and get back to her within a few days.
Get 5-6 more messages from buyer before I even get to go to the post office.
Impatient seller then just hits the buy it now button, because "I'm sorry, someone else bid on it and I really didn't want to miss this!"

Package item up, tell her the estimated shipping cost.
"Oh, that's really expensive, someone else sent me something from the US for much less than that."

I figure it's just the obligatory, "Hi, I won your listing, here's my info thank you." but I couldn't check the actual message because poor internet and too busy. Another half hour passes and my phone goes off again. It's another message from lacemarket. Finally when i go on my break, I'm able to check. Damn girl was asking why I haven't invoiced her yet. I explained I was at work and now I'm on break. I send an invoice, pays instantly. An hour passes another message or two. I check them on my lunch. She wants to know what her tracking is. She messages me again later in the day and wondering if I've shipped it. I couldn't even get to the post office that day because I worked till 5. Do these people not know what jobs are? jfc.

It's easy to break costumes down when you don't know shit about making them. Armour's just padding painted silver, right? And anyone can make a Miku outfit, it's just a long cardi and a shirt and skirt! See, easy!
That's why we have the bad cosplay threads.
And no, I agree that the parent shouldn't be the one going round asking. It's really weird to me too, especially when her daughter is old enough for a fb of her own. If she wants her parents to ask in case people are hesitant to sell to a child that's fair enough, but they should make that more obvious. It sounds pretty creepy like this. So I tried to sell a dress because my parents basically abandoned my brother and I, and I needed money for food... This girl commented on a sales post two months ago asking if the dress would fit a size 12. I gave her a clear and concise explanation of vanity sizing and how to measure herself, including what to do if she didn't have a measuring tape. She then messaged me a month later asking if the dress was still available and I asked if she'd measured herself yet. Over two days she continued asking if it would fit a size 12 after I told her I wear anything between a size 6 and 14 depending on the store/garment, then sent pictures of herself so I coukd try and guage the fit. Even though I was desperate for cash I accepted her being unable to pay until the end of the month. Three weeks later she was ignoring my messages, then after a week told me her debit card had been stolen and her account cleared out. In a regular box shipping is determined by weight. Flat rate is just what it says, no matter what you put in there the cost is the same. What is with people being so ridiculous when it comes to other people's pricing lately? I remember when people were only called out in blatant and extreme cases of overcharging, like if someone were to ask for $700 on a piece that doesn't even sell for retail. These days you get called a scalper or end up in a WTF thread for asking for what an item is worth just because the person complaining is either a complete newfag or butthurt about having to pay an item's typical going rate, even when you're only talking $200 items.
