Been in the fashion 1 1/2 years...What even is cohesion? My wardrobe certainly doesn't know yet.
Been using BL as a source for a lot of simple inexpensive filler items recently, since half the time when i was first starting out i'd buy one pricier brand item at a time and then only get one or two relatively boring coords out of it before giving up and selling it. Trying to focus on building up a variety of nice quality tops, shoes, bags, etc now and working towards a more versatile wardrobe suitable for casual/daily wear, rather than exclusively bigger events.

(also good lord I want to get rid of my babby's first purchase Infanta vest jsk, but I keep somehow talking myself into keeping it for normalfag wear)

I wear mostly classic or sweet/classic, a tad of gothic. I'm trying to collect more toned down dresses to wear everyday casual. But always get distracted by pretty prints, I'm also looking to buy more gothic pieces.
I bought my first dress in October 2013, this isn't my complete wardrobe, but it is most of my mains.

I started at the beginning of 2015 and am still having a loli identity crisis.

I started out buying up a lot of indie brands because I was intimidated by all the secondhand markets, but recently sucked it up and started bidding on brand on Yahoo Auctions and LM. I kind of hate the look of JSKs, so I exclusively look into OPs--even if there's a print or style that I love, I won't even consider it unless it comes as an OP. I haven't even gone to a meetup yet because I just haven't found the time, so most of these are just unworn and sitting on my closet and collecting dust... it's really inspiring to see everyone else's collections, I hope I can get to that point someday.

Main style: Classic sweet/otome
Time in lolita: 2 years

I've had a lot of difficulty picking a style and just being all over the place and constantly buying/selling pieces, but I've really fallen in love with otome and trying to stick lolita dresses that can work with it too.
I feel like I've finally found my calling and feel so much more happy with my wardrobe now.

Not really the most interesting wardrobe, i'm going to buy simpler gothic/otome pieces from now, taking a break from sweet for a while because i want basic items to wear daily. The BL blouse need to go away one day, i want better blouses. I have also frilly winter cutsews from taobao, two black one pink and a lace offbrand blouse in offwhite.

I'm curious, what's everyone's ratio of shoes to main pieces? I feel like I have far too many shoes.
>8 pairs of "lolita" shoes, a few normalfag shoes that I make work sometimes

I have 3 pairs of offwhite shoes but I feel like I need all of them.

I've only been collecting for under a year, still trying to find my groove.
Starting to lean more towards otome, think my future purchases will fall into that.

Just feeling overwhelmed when trying to add in the extras, like blouses, shoes and etc.

Well if you have more variety in shoes than clothes it is a sign you have too many. I would also wonder if you have issues with cohesion or knowing what you need. Like why do you have 8 lolita shoes for 9 dresses and why are 3 of them white?

Diff anon. Honestly it depends on color coordination. I have more shoes than main pieces right now, but I don't always match my dress to my shoes. Sometimes I'll wear shoes that match the top and the bag while the socks headbow and dress are the same color. Other times I'll use shoes to play up a third color. For example brown bonnet, red and gold accessories around bonnet, red blouse, green dress with gold accents, brown socks with gold accents, red shoes and red bag. I don't think you can ever have too many shoes, bags or headwear and accessories in lolita. But sometimes it is necessary to downsize, especially if you don't end up using them much.

>> No.8662041

>>8661938
I guess I do have cohesion issues.
I have 1 pair of offwhite rocking horse shoes, but those don't go with much. I use them a lot with other clothes. I have off white tea party shoes for daily wear, and offwhite really nice shoes for fancy meets. Then black, navy, pink, red (I don't need those but they were $5), gold.
My wardrobe is all sweet AP and BTSSB with some casual handmade stuff, but half of them are pink, the other half are all over. I guess its not so bad since I wear them with other jfashiony stuff; most shoes see the sun at least 3 times a month.

There's been some cute stuff coming out on taobao lately so hopefully I can do that. I also want more stained glass pieces. I like to play a game in which I go through and pick one item I would have for free from everyone's wardrobe. Sometimes it's hard because there's too many things I like/don't like. It's fun. I have being doing this forever, started with catalogues that were on the dining table when I ate breakfast as a kid. I was just very isolated. I never went anywhere other than school/stables/church. My parents banned me from the internet until I was 17. It never even occured to me that there were lolita communities or that I would ever encounter one except maybe seeing a meido costume at a con. I had GLBs but not a clue how I would go aboit buyig from those brands so I wore a lot of GLP, victorigoth and offbrand stuff which is still the case. I was completely oblivious to the idea of meetups until I sneaked out of the house (I would never usually do this but things were really bad at home) in punk lolita to the V and A and *just happened* to turn up to like the biggest lolita meet up ever at the museum (200 girls I think?) This girl came up to me and asked if I was there for the lolita event and it took me a long time to process what she said, that there were others (and wtf is up with all these prints and wigs??) She has been my lolita senpai ever since. When I joined the Tea Party Club my mind was blown, I found out about bodyline and went crazy (have sold about half of it), found Milanoo (ordered once and everyone was too polite to tell me it's all a scam) found lacemarket and taobao resellers (still haven't) made a direct order yet and I only just bought from my first japanese auction two months ago. I feel a bit caught between styles and like I have a lot to catch up on.

TL:DR
I guess if I wasn't interacting with other lolitas I wasn't IN in the fashion because I wasn't IN the community? I still have magazine clippings from 2004 from Shojou Beat lolita articles and stuff. A bit sad really.

glad to see there's someone else like this haha. I think my other problem is I'm still relatively new to lolita, so I've been focussing on different areas of my wardrobe at different times. There's the gothic stuff I want to get together, and then I really want more mint sweet pieces, but then I want more sweet pieces with fruits, then I'm interested in AP's chocolate/desert stuff, but then I'm also trying to find some stuff that's a little more toned down that I could also incorporate into my daily/normal wear. Trying to just focus on a little bit for now; my main 2 goals at the moment are two cultivate more gothic pieces in my wardrobe and get more items that are otome-ish/more suitable for integration in my regular closet. I've mostly been trying to stick with things that are similar colors, some of the sweet items I think I want to trade to buy in a different colorway that will better match my wardrobe.
