Lady Sloth's Princess Bolero comes in a fabric she describes as "cotton with some elastic component," though I hear that her communication has been very slow lately and it was definitely slow when I ordered from her last spring. When I ordered Bunny House's Blooming Night bolero it came in a thicker fabric than I expected, appropriate for 50 degree F mornings in autumn and spring, and I think their other style of long-sleeved bolero is made with the same fabric. I'm not fond of the fabric on Bunnyhouse's non-chiffon boleros. It's too stiff IMO for the garment. I ended up selling mine. I would've rather liked a heavier knit fabric instead.

I normally wear chiffon with most things as it looks better on me than cotton. I hate the cold, but normally if I'm going out, I'll wear a coat and don't spend much time outdoors. All the normal lolita layering tends to keep me warm enough.

I have one and it's unlined polarfleece. For me that was fine since I still find it warm enough (most winter days where I live are between 20 and 40 degrees F) and I'm allergic to wool. Honestly I do not support being an "unhealthy" weight. I am 100% okay with people being an "unsexy" weight as long as it is in a range that lets their body function normally and doesn't increase their risk of disease. That said I'm not going to berate a lady with a smoker's cough or a man porking on big macs because it's not my life, it's theirs, and what strangers do is not really any of my business. But I also say, if you want to dress cute even though you are at an unhealthy weight (under or over weight) then you should go for it. It can be harder to look nice when you are larger and yes, bigger people will get more negative attention and fewer compliments. But if they are aware of this and still want to look a certain way then I say, go for it. Some people find it pretty easy to change their weight, others find it really really hard. For some people it's absolutely hell, and for others it's not so bad but they have weak willpower. Personally my weight fluctuates a lot from the bottom of the BMI to the upper half, but I've decided not to hate myself when I'm "fatter". And I'm happy that these girls are trying to do something beautiful too.

I found this one on Modcloth, but does it look borderline ita? Plus there is just no information about what brand it's from (obviously some indie one). It's just listed as Frill Power Coat. For $170 though I'm kind of not convinced to get it, but a part of me wishes it was actually nice since they have large sizes.

A bunch of Modcloth's 'retro' dresses are the same... very thin fabric for the cost they charge, but they originally are from sites where they're $30-40 less so the lower quality is more reasonable.

I seriously recommend staying away from Modcloth as well. Impulse-bought a dress because it had a cat print and the hem stitching wasn't anywhere near straight so I returned it. Later found the same dress on Amazon for 50% of Modcloth's price. All I lost was the return shipping fee but I was still pissed that they would pull this kind of shit.

Same goes for at least some of the shoes. If you can see a brand label inside the shoe, you will probably be able to find it for cheap on Amazon. It explains why so many Modcloth items never have better than a 4-star review average, because the quality and price just don't match up. Hiding item brands like this just strikes me as incredibly dishonest.

It looks like it could be Hell Bunny. They have a few coats that clearly are influenced by Lolita, but since it's not an actual Lolita brand and is sold at places like Hot Topic, they sometimes look a bit off. I have pic related in all black and it's really warm (I ended up using it as my regular coat for most of last winter and I live in the midwest where it gets pretty cold) and I think I paid about $125 for it. Doesn't have any gross lace and it's fuller and longer than this picture makes it look. It had some crappy corset lacing in the back but other than that I'm happy with the quality.
