I was posted in the last thread and didn't really get much feedback other than "this is bad" so can someone tell me how to improve? I get some don't like the amount of white. Everything seems really out of place and cheap. They don't match the colour scheme, and they honestly look like something you through on just to have accessories. Invest in some higher quality stuff, and if you're lacking accessories, take a good look at your wardrobe and figure out what colours/themes would be most versatile.
>Underskirt
Tbh, before I saw your post on COF, I had no idea if that was an underskirt or your petti peeking out. The underskirt doesn't suit the bottom of the dress, and the current shape of it is just bad; are you wearing it under your petticoat or something? The outfit would look better without it.
>Hair
If those are highlights, they're not doing you any favors. Your bangs also look very messy.
>Makeup/Close-up
This photo doesn't really add anything, since it's not like you have elaborate makeup or are even really showing off your accessories very well. The facial expression/sticker also kind of made me cringe.
I would recommend working on your makeup. Right now, your eyes look kind of smudgy in a bad way. Some foundation/bb could really brighten up your complexion and make it look cleaner/healthier overall.

Some might say the mismatching whites of the shirt/socks/bag/usa-mini bother them. I also think that white legwear is very unflattering on bigger girls, since it makes your legs look thicker. You also might want to incorporate another accent colour (like brown) to make the coord more interesting.

Those are the issues I had with it. It's not totally horrible, but it's on the lower end of basic beginner coords, imo.

Thanks for the tips guys. Ive actually been using a few different bags lately, this one probably stands out more because I used to abuse it so much. I was considering using one of my pink AP purses but the pink in the print and the beret is more of a peachy colour so it looked really off. About the facial expression, I mentioned it in the last thread, but with your hand like that, it looks like you're doing some ~~kawaii uguu~~ anime pose (pic related, just taken from google), which is always cringey but especially so when you're older than like 16.
As for the sticker, I'm not a huge fan of them on coord shots, but I know a lot of people like them. I will say that the art in the one you used is not as cute as most of what I've seen on LINE and whatnot.
I also think head shots are really only necessary/worthwhile when you're trying to show off elaborate makeup or hair accessories.

If make up is making you break out, you're probably not using good stuff and/or not removing it all. I would suggest lurking the skin care and make up threads for more info, but I have fair, relatively sensitive combo skin and swear by Missha's Perfect Cover BB in shade 13. It's enough coverage to help even out your skin tone yet still looks natural and is easy to apply. I think a bit of makeup would make you look, younger, too, as I honestly wouldn't have guessed you were 23. As for shopping options, the internet is your friend.

Also, remember that these are just my opinions, so don't get too upset or discouraged. I dressed like shit for a solid 6 months before I got some tough love from /cgl/, and I think I really benefitted from it.

An anon friend here. Watch youtube tutorial videos for makeup application. I'd also recommend signing up for the Ulta mailing list. You can get good coupons, they'll often have good sales as well. You can also go there or Sephora to have your makeup done for free and they can guide you through the process. I'll also recommend Misha's Perfect cover BB cream, that's what I use as well.

A lot of cheaper products can irritate the skin, and often times they don't have much pigmentation. I've actually been swearing by a lot of Nyx brand products because the costs aren't outrageous, the pigments are really nice, and the quality is on par with many higher end products.

One thing I do for makeup is apply it bolder than I would for normal everyday wear. This applies for cosplay and lolita. When photos are taken it's going to wash out your face or in bad lighting, it might not be obvious that you're wearing any at all. In a lot of my old cosplay photos it was impossible to tell I was wearing makeup because I applied it lightly and wasn't skilled at doing anything more than eyeshadow, basic liner, mascara and lipstick.

If you want to put your hand near your face, there are ways to do it that look elegant rather than super cutesy. It can be a good way to show off accessories. I will agree that you can really benefit by stepping up your accessory game. It doesn't have to be costly, but I'd steer clear of most generic deco sweets accessories unless they are are really well made. I find a lot of my accessories at conventions and you can find nice stuff without spending a ton of money.

This is me! I wish those flowers hadn't photographed so red because they were honestly pink but I do agree they were too dark. They were a really last minute decision that didn't quite work out - just wanted something floral because it's like a flower festival. I'll second the Nyx suggestion especially if you're not used to wearing makeup regularly. It's decently priced for the quality it's got. I would say, based on your leg shape, to avoid underskirts and try to aim for dresses that hit directly at your knee to keep the look a little more slimming. imo as someone with glasses I think it's dumb to say they "ruin" a coord if you just consider the basic fact that glasses are essentially a medical aid. if you wear a lot of sweet coords and you particularly care what people think about your glasses, then it may be worth it to invest in another more versatile, feminine frame. me personally, I just don't really care enough lol.

I just really don't think glasses "ruin" coords, if they're your actual glasses (as opposed to like, pink hello kitty frames in a gothic coord). they might not fit with the rest of the coord but glasses are something I just ignore. people also forget that sometimes glasses get complicated for people and they can only get certain types of frames.

alternatively, you could just take photos without your glasses on before posting photos online. in my opinion, do they "fit" with the rest of the coord? not really, but to me they're more unassuming than not...they aren't like, incredibly thick framed hipster glasses or whatever.

When I got my prescription updated, I got a pair that would easily go with almost anything and then got some silly plastic pastel frames to go with super cutesy stuff (I think you know who I am from that lol). But it might be worth a try if your prescription is up to date. Try Zenni Optical maybe. There should be some nice frames on there that would be suitable for most coordinates.

At any rate, I had similar glasses to yours and I normally took them off for photos because they didn't go with everything.

I can't wear contacts either. I have pretty bad astigmatism, but that's only makes contacts much more expensive. I also have fuchs dystrophy which causes severe dry eye and intolerance to contact lenses and general eye sensitivity.

i have similar glasses, and while they're great with black outfits with a severe look, i feel they look really out of place with anything in lighter colors. some glasses can work with lolita and/or pastels, just not the square black ones...

Have you tried to see if any of those places carry your prescription? I have a pretty intense prescription myself for astigmatism and need special lenses. My lenses are always expensive and drive up the cost of my frames. I have to get special glare coating part of the astigmatism and helps with the glare and photo sensitivity with the dystrophy i have. Generally I have coke bottle glasses.

I don't think glasses necessarily ruin a coord, but there's really no excuse for not having a pair of unoffending glasses when they're cheaply available and you're likely throwing hundreds of dollars at lolita.
