Squats and oats pretty much. /fit/'s sticky is actually really good, the rest of it not so much. Read starting strength, do sean10mm's variation add in frog kicks, leg raises or whatever else to work you hip flexors if you want, otherwise just stick to the weighted incline bench situps. Once you do that for a while find a more advanced bodybuilding routine or continue down the strength route.

I'm really conflicted between doing the cool bad ass characters I like that my face resembles, and being critiqued for being a man let, or doing the cute Shota characters I like and looking like a man in a little boys clothing.

I was thinking about sexing up the cute characters not in a /fit/ sort of way, but doing things like an older 20ish year old Simon from TTGL or Ciel Phantomhive, more mature clothing, stubble and all that. It sucks that most of the pretty, masculine e characters in games and anime are also notably tall, I don't want to fucking up a defining trait like that.

Not really. He dresses in a very ostentatious way for a guy (jeans that I can only describe as "bedazzled") and shirts that are entirely too tight. It just screams "I'm trying to look young." You can look at his older headshots and him now and see the wrinkles are way, way more visible. He needs to lay off the tanning and stop highlighting his hair, 'cause he's not fooling anyone except the girls he sleeps with.

Hobby cultures in general tend to skew either very overweight or very underweight. There's a lot of fat neckbeards, but there's as many beanpoles and hungry skeletons.

Do squats and deadlifts 3 times a week, using high weights and low reps to maximize your gains.

See, you're probably thinking to yourself, "But, anon. How would squatting, which works the legs, and deadlifting, which works the back, be of any use to my abs?" Well, anon, this is what people mean when they say an exercise works "the core."

When doing those two exercises, in addition to the primary muscles worked in those routines, you're also using a set of muscles we'll call your "stabilizer" muscles. These muscles, which are very powerful for their size, do not usually receive the resistance they need to fully challenge themselves. These include the abs, the erector spinae, the obliques, etc.etc. Just small muscles that hardly get any dedicated action. This is why when you see professional powerlifters, you'll see them with huge, protruding bellies, yet their stomachs are usually solid and have visible ab definition (see pic related). Don't worry about getting TOO big.

In order for a muscle to grow, you actually do need a LOT of resistance, which is usually why it's ill-advised to do a hundred reps with little to no weight. It simply won't DO you anything. And since your core is so rarely challenged with the kind of resistance it needs to actually get bigger, your muscles like your abs and your obliques don't grow as much as, say, your pecs or biceps will.

ANYWAYS, getting to the point, squats and deadlifts give you that serious "weight" you need to truly challenge your abdominal muscles. If you've been lifting for a while now, then (hopefully) you'll already have been squatting or deadlifting for some time, which is good; just up the amount of times you do it per week or find a little more time to do those workouts. If you can't do those two exercises, or you can't afford to go to the gym, then there are a few exercises that are even better than deadlifts and squats themselves, which I will be explaining in part two.

Pt. II

Yes, there ARE exercises out there that are definitely much more effective at targeting the abs than simply squatting and deadlifting. The reason I did not want to include these is because squatting and deadlifting, are, by nature, very "efficient" lifts. They target multiple muscle groups at once using only one exercise, which promotes uniform muscle development, and it also has the added benefit of promoting good posture as well.

But if you want six packs "right fucking NOW," then there are multiple exercises that engage the abdominal muscles directly and effectively, which can lead to much quicker results.

1.

>Like, by the tenth sit up, you shouldn't even be able to finish it

Do a lot of these. Make sure to do SOME type of ab exercise once every day, as it is possible to "lose gains" if you're too lackadaisical about it.

Pt. III

Finally, eat at a lot of protein and cut carbs from your diet.

You don't need to cut every carb from your diet, but they DO take up precious calories on your calorie budget, and they don't do much for promoting lean muscle growth.

Don't fall in to the le ebin "you need carbs" meemee that you'll hear every now and then; the human body is adaptive. If you don't eat carbs, you're not going to start puking blood and dying or whatever; you will be fine.

After a workout, ideally 30 minutes afterward, eat something high in protein. This can be a can of tuna, or a scoop of protein powder, or maybe even a couple glasses of milk. Where you get your protein from doesn't matter as much as people say it does.

You can't grow muscle mass while on a calorie deficiency.

If you want to add muscle to your body, you have to do what people call "bulking up." This is where you eat a lot, gain some fat, and work out. This is when you'll be gaining muscle.

After "bulking," there'll be a period of time where you cut your calories so you're at a calorie deficiency. This is called "cutting."

You will need to exercise while cutting as well. You DON'T want to lose your gains. That's several weeks of hard work for nothing.

You WILL get weaker as you cut. You WILL get fatter as you bulk. That's just how things are.

Lift 5 to 7 times a week; make sure to keep maintenance. There IS something called a clean bulk, but honestly? I don't really know if it works or not.

That's about it.

Time yourself so that by the time you get to your cons, you'll be at the end of the "cutting" phase in your cycle.

You'll get visible, "I-can-see-for-myself" changes in around 3 to 4 months. Just work hard and keep at it.
