gulls help

i let an item that needed to be signed for sit at the post office for a bit, barely over a week (i have had stuff sit there for SEVERAL WEEKS IN THE PAST) and when i went to have it redelivered tonight i saw that they had already. returned it to sender.

it was a brand new baby jsk.

does anyone have any experience with this?? i'm going to call the post office in the morning and see what the hell is up (WHAT SHIPPING DO THEY EVEN USE FOR RETURNING OVERSEAS ORDERS??). the old ems tracking number is no longer working. will contacting baby and asking them to watch for the package and resend it (i'll pay for the shipping again ofc) do any good? i know their customer service is Notoriously Shit so i am kind of already setting myself up for the worst

Seriously i dislike how AP and even lolita got after 2009/2010 i cant get excited about their releases anymore. Dolly Cat is so ugly and OTT and pastel vomit like most or all of their stuff when its not chocolate diarrea all over. Call me an oldfag whiny bitch and say "lawl more for us then" but lolita now is just not the same. It evolved in something so OTT and the lolita "spirit" got kinda lost i see so many lolitas hoarding brand just for the status and the popularity more than because they truly like it,lolitas trying to get famous online,... It just makes me feel sad to know that it will never be like in my glorious ol' lolita days again...I know things evolve but i just hate it now.

that really can't be helped though. that changed as the internet grew and developed and honestly the movement and scattering of the lolita community was inevitable because of how livejournal began changing and going down a lot and glitching and pissing everyone off, plus with all the better platforms out there people don't even want to bother with lj anymore. it's just too complicated for them to understand like people suddenly became technology inept to old websites or something, even when they were honestly still easy to use. i've witnessed this being in huge animu fandoms that used to be on lj (also harry potter fandom) and now literally all the comms that used to be super active over there are 110% dead. egl and the comm sales are honestly one of the last handful remaining that's still trucking along at a snail's pace. journal sites changed when places like myspace and facebook and twitter and tumblr started coming around, and the internet began growing and becoming more mainstream.

>tl;dr the developments and differences with the technology and websites used was inevitable, because many of us back then grew up as the technology age was still young and growing while now people are living it fully.

Two major things contributed to egl on lj's death. In the fall of 2012 there was a major upheaval of both egl and egl-comm-sales at the same time. I forget exactly what it was over but I'm sure you can find the posts on getoffegl. The result was that both comms were shut down simultaneously for two weeks while the moderator/admins were shuffled around, reorganized, and comm rules revamped. At roughly the same time, tumblr was really starting to take off (I remember the first time I went to a tumblr was of those two weeks, and it was so bewildering like "why are there so many gifs???") Well, as they say, it takes two weeks to make/break a habit, so people either moved their activity to tumblr, or they just stopped checking the comm as often.

I remember looking at the archive calendar a year later and posting dropped by something like 90% in 12 months. Most of us never really looked back. It's telling that the only consistently active Lolita community on LJ is the shitposting comm.

I'm salty because at the time livejournal was really active,it ran on my computer like shit so I never really got to use it. Now when I can, there's no one there.

Anyway, I have to agree that lj is just simply not in "style" as a go to place anymore. Which is a shame because despite the internet growing up as >>8620860 said, there STILL isn't a exact replacement, even though people don't use forums much anymore (except for reddit, which the system looks god awful). Facebook is shit and I hate the attitude of the people there (having to use your real name creeps me out too) tumblr is shit for discussion, and instagram and others are even worse.

Part of the problem is that people are more lazy and don't want to have a tab open for each thing
The want to just scroll and reply as they do down. You got notifications on lj, but you still had to open another tab or whatever. At the same time, they want little shines to themselves, of their content, for doing relatively little. When I was a teenager, making a website was in style. A lot of people just make it as a random crap they like, yes, but you don't get the gratification like today's kids do. I remember making a more helpful to others website (I wanted to be efamous of what it meant in 2006 to me- a lot of people visited your website, and signed your guestbook, used your forums and used your shit you made) I worked on it for months just on layout and original stuff and got very little out of it. These days, I got a decent amount of people on tumblr for just uploading a few pictures and reblogging my interests. People are so used to this, why would they work hard to be recognized? In forums it's the same way. My dream on forums when I was younger that I post enough to become of "high status" type of poster, where people refer to you all the time and shit. But again, that took a LOT of work on a smaller group of people. Now to become efamous, it's pretty simple.

I think a lot of this too, I realized.

I would love if there was an equivalent to what you are describing, but nope. I am a relative newcommer, but I don't really have a sense of community for the lolita fashion. It just seems to be of a bunch of girls talk about it on various sites. I barely recognize people in the same way you are suppose to in a comm. It a little hard to explain but it just doesn't feel... right. Maybe it's because I'm not active on facebook, which is the closest thing we got, ugh.

I hate how people just say "dream dress" when they mean "something on my wtb list". It becomes very apparent when your "dream dresses" are ordered by preference, are more than half a dozen and as soon as you get a "dream dress" it's replaced with one or more new ones.

I'm also kinda sad about this change, but I get the feeling that more Lolitas recently want to bring back the good old times. Of course you can't bring it comepletely back, but every little step, like getting more active again in egl and daily lolita, makes me happy. I'm dealing with a real-life stalker, so FB's insistence on a phone number and real name is just so creepy for me. Too many articles of victims being found and harmed through there, and at the very least it enables easier access even after I've changed so much information to try and get away.

Ah yes. I remember the days where it was about monthly layout changes, domain hoarding and making little cliques by hand. The cliques got replaced by official fan thingies that typically had no work at all. In the time to follow, it has only gotten worse with the laziness.

Hiya gulls! I'm currently in the process of making a lolita themed video game. I was wondering if there was any interest and if there is, what sorts of things you might like to see.

I want to make it for people who love the fashion as much as I do, so I'm planning to include jokes, references, and easter eggs that only a lolita would understand. I even toyed with making Mr. Yan a villain, but thought that might be a bit too literal, plus he might sue me for libel lol. Thanks a bunch!

>Your attacks include kawaii poses, kawaii noises (uguuuu, kyuun, ano, etc.), libel against the yandyman, and the most powerful attack: LET'S BAKE CUPPYCAKES
>you can use your fangelics to defend you also (fangelic shield?) and to stun/troll your opponent
>To win the game you have to win the heart of a true nipponese man and obtain that juicy spouse visa
>Good end: You live in Japan as an internet 'sensation', and continue to fuel your delusional dreams that you're an aidoru as you marry your husbando and live as a gaijin in japan
>Bad end: Mr Yan makes you his wife and you end up in China, not glorious nippon paradise like you wanted. You are chained to the waifu couch for all eternity.
>True end: After defeating the evil Mr Yan and getting married, you wake up and it was all a crazy dream. You're Venus, a normal dutch girl who lives with her mother. Your wardrobe is filled with normal clothes and there isn't a hint of weebishness in your house. As you leave the house for school the camera pans back to your open laptop, where a youtube page opens itself and begins to play. It's kawaii Venus chained to a chair, and Mr Yan's laughter can be heard from off camera. She's wearing his hat. The screen goes black.

Mainly this, but I also just think that it looks like wearing pajamas outside so I don't personally like them even when they're decently coordinated. The number of times worn is to give an idea of how "worn out" an item is, if something has only been worn once or twice it is probably not stretched out or damaged. If there are stains of any kind, you're obligated to mention them.

Personally in my listings I always mention that the item has been cleaned as well, indicating that any stains are set in - usually they are small/barely noticeable - I am not a messy person, I buy a lot of used/damaged items are clean them up as much as possible such as reducing stains but you can usually not get the stain completely out.

It's more of a CYA thing - if you say the item is "worn" and poi t out flaws, you can't get some asshole doing a PayPal charge back for "unlisted damages, not as described"

>> No.8622518

>>8622506
How often you wear a dress can affect its condition - A brand new dress that was tried on once will be in a much better condition than a secondhand (or third hand, etc.) dress that was worn many times.
As for stains, some are more difficult to remove than others and not every person knows how to get rid of them. Not the most pleasant thing in the world, but it's better that sellers are honest about any and every damage that a dress might have than not.

I made a brownxblack coord once and anons were really great about helping me make it work! Pic related was the coord and this was that only good response I got after I posted the finished version hah.

"Personally Im not a big fan of black and brown but you managed to make a nice coord Anon, that said I can tell what you're going for and Im afraid the hair accesory is too casual for the overall coord and the wig is too fancy." - https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/cgl/thread/S8367674#p8369505

Overall though, it's really hard to make it work. You need to be really careful and know how to balance your colors. It's been such a letdown. The only thing I can think to do is to go to Michael's and buy a regular black masquerade mask and maybe cut out some of the details similar to the dress and paste them on it. It doesn't look like I'm going to be getting the bunny theme I wanted.
Artists wants RIDICULOUS prices for masks.

Yeah, I like that too, but that doesn't seem to be the trend anymore. HD did it right, honestly; she posted one dress and that was it, and people liked her enough to offer to search and stuff, but now people post lists 10-dresses long and claim that each one is their "dream dress". It's like everyone saw how much people offered to help her and just assumed that's all they had to do; post everything and someone will throw it their way out of pity or attachment or something.

The DD thread is just an extended WTB now. I don't think it's HD's fault, but everyone's trying to get what she had and it's obnoxious.
