There's no brolita guide for guys, if that's what you're asking.

First, for general crossdressing advice, cgl sometimes has crossdressing or crossplay threads. cgl's archive is at https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/cgl/
Type "crossdress" or "crossplay" into the search box, click on advanced, select "search in" : "OPs Only" and "Results" : "Threads" , this should give you some of the previous threads we've had, you should be able to find some general tips on passing for a girl, including makeup tips and body shaping stuff.

Or, start a new crossdress/crossplay thread yourself.

For a detailed breakdown on what the different clothing items are called, different silhouttes, you can read the lolita guidebook: http://thelolitaguidebook.tumblr.com/post/114063979402/introducing-the-lolita-guide-book-a-modern-guide

The older lolita handbook is at http://lolita-handbook.livejournal.com/ , might be easier to read since it's not as detailed as the guidebook, but it's also outdated.

Both guidebook and handbook are written for girls, so be mindful of your measurements, dress to your body type: if you aren't skinny and small, look up advice for broad shoulders, watch out for the dress lengths. If you don't fit into women's shoes, AnTaiNa on taobao makes custom shoes, or ask in the shoe thread where to get shoes for big feet.

If you're stuck on how to put together a whole outfit (eg-what bag goes with which shoes), look for the coord help thread, it's where lolitas give each other advice on what looks good together as a full outfit.

Other than that, it's mostly trial and error, even if you're a girl. I would suggest doing a little bit at a time, eg- spend a weekend trying to figure out makeup, another weekend figuring out wigs, before doing the full thing at once. Selfpost to the coord help thread and ask whether you look bad, before going outside/to your local comm.

>>8611993

Probably one guy posting in multiple threads. Meh, every noob has to start somewhere.

I think it's a lot easier to avoid an ita phase nowadays since there are so many resources and shopping is so easy.
Back in 06 when I started it was still pretty difficult and expensive to get brand, sites were all in Japanese, and there wasn't nearly as much photo sharing as there is now. Bodyline was still 100% shit, and there weren't all those affordable Taobao brands so if you didn't have a lot of money your options were handmade or EBay disasters.

Thanks
So to begin with, I went from 58kg to pretty much 70 kg this year (fat, not muscle. Yes, I need to get fit.)
I wanted to know if this dress is giving my boobloaf, whether the empire waist (band thing? It's still a natural waist cut overall) is cutting too high on the bust, and whether I look flabby. I usually like loose fitting/ high waisted dresses provided they hit under my bust, not on it. I'm standing up straight, not sucking it in but if I slouch/ relax I look chub.
I feel like I am boobloafed, but the weird empire band is the main issue (I'm tall but I don't know if it's meant to be like this) I'm wondering if I need to sell it after all. It's 2004 Mary Magdalene so I wouldn't take it too hard if I didn't fit. Or I could lose weight but it would take a long time.

>> No.8612327

>>8612321
I don't know about boobloaf but the band should definitely sit under your bust, having it sit over your bust like that makes it look ill fitting. Not a good look imho.

>> No.8612329

>>8612321
Anon, the bust doesn't fit you. You'd need to be an A to even consider fitting into a dress that small at the bust. Also, the actual 'ribbons' down the dress look so bizarre and I don't think you could fit a blouse under it, even if it is an OP.

Tbh 70kgs isn't too awful. You look tall enough to pull it off but I can't imagine any sort of weight loss is going to fit your bust into such an unflattering dress.

No, not all, some are totally respectful, but I've been around the fashion long enough to call a spade a spade. I used to be naively accepting and have learnt from unfortunate experiences. The ribbons are cross neck ties hahahaha, I just couldn't be bothered doing them up for the picture.
I think it's fine without a blouse but I would wear it with a bolero or cardi probably.
Thank you for your honest feedback! I don't think my bust would fit with weight loss either. It's annoying because the dress is actually long and reaches my knees otherwise. Is it hitting correctly on the model? I never could find other worn pics.

As another anon with DD (also large arms), it looks a little tight? but if it's not that much tight then I would also wear a bolero or cardi with it. they can be pretty useful for that reason. the downside is they cover up stuff like the chest ribbon, but that might be a good thing in this case.

Sorry anon, I'm really not well versed in oldschool! I've seen a lot of dresses with super high underbusts like that but they are almost impossible to fit unless you're incredibly petite.

I would even venture to say that it's a tad too high on the model. Take into account the angle that the photo was taken in and note that the seam is actually facing down toward the camera. It's a cute dress, but it isn't for you anon. :(

I'll give my advice to you straight.
The fit:
Looking tight all over with strong bra imprint, you could perhaps try with a few different bras and see how you go.

Losing weight:
You sound like you're planning on slowing dropping back to a lower weight so you could always wait till your mid-60s and see how you go.
Also depending on your period cycle your boobs may or may not get bigger so factor that in.

Selling it?
If you want to go for it, otherwise if it's a dream item then maybe try wearing with a cardigan/ bolero with lots of ruffles over the top to hide the bust issues

I'm not that anon, but what you original said was a little confusing, you said fabric softener which, personally, I identify as being the liquid you add to the washer. probably did not read the pause between "needs washed out," and "would throwing in the dryer" and interpreted your question that you planned on washing and drying, rather than what you intended, just "drying".

To answer your original question, if you think the stiffness is related to chemical starch, putting it in the dryer with a dryer sheet will probably not help. I'd personally hand wash in cold water, maybe just water with nothing else (usually I add in a dash of oxyclean) and then dry flat.

(Inches method) Measure your under bust, measure your full bust. The under bust is your band size, the difference between the measurements is your cup size. So a 28 underbust, 32" bust would be a 28D (32 - 28 = 4, 1" = A, 2" = B, 3" = C, etc). If you have an odd underbust measurement, you'll probably want to try going both up and down to see which is more comfortable. At 27", I go up to 28".

This gives you a good place to start, but will typically need to try on a number of bras to find one that fits you right. The shape matters, and some brands run small or large. I have bras in three different sizes that fit me because the shape and brand sizing are different.

Depending on how well the group knows each other and how big your group is, you could do that Bingo game that the Chicago lolitas did for their annual megameet (bingo sheets include things found in a lolita coordinate and you have to go around and find the lolitas who wear them) - it's an excellent ice breaker.

Other games can include

>lolita/halloween themed pictionary
>dress making challenge: each group have to make a dress out of office/crafting supplies (iirc, the Singapore lolitas did this) - better for a medium sized group
>lolita themed worst case scenario or never have I ever - also better for a medium sized group

I wouldn't over-do the activities because you'd want some time to give people to mingle and eat; I'd pick no more than two games.

I'd try to keep your gift bags simple and because it is hard to figure out what everyone likes, I'd try to keep it Halloween themed. Try adding

>thank you notes
>candy
>kawaii stickers (halloween ones are good too)
>scent sachels - you can make it Autumn themed with something spicy scented or with cute Autumn themed fabric
>creepy cute accessories

Or you can make cute Halloween themed candy bags and fill it with nice stuff like the mini Halloween themed popcorn box and other nice-tier candies - the souvenir is the decorated bag (I'd still add a small handwritten thank you note). Google Halloween goodie bags for ideas.

If you're group is over 21+ and people want to stay for an "after party", a Hocus Pocus drinking game would be fun (make sure that everyone gets home safely though or arrange it as a sleep over, which is good for closer friends).

Decorating should be fun and easy. I'd try to make it look like a creepy Gothic mansion as much as possible. I'd also google halloween decorations for ideas, but so far I like these and I don't think they'd get in the way of clubhouse rules.

>spider webs
>spider plastic spiders
>Halloween themed hanging silhouettes
>decorate Chinese lanterns as Jack-o-Lanterns

Food: try to keep a good sweet and savory ratio. I think that it might be easier to have a potluck, but if people are already pitching in money, be sure that most of it goes toward renting the space, and budget enough to serve the number of people going (I learned that there tend to be a lot of leftovers for these kinds of events). If you people are up for bring their own food to share, have a google doc spread sheet or something for people to see what they're bringing (and either way, be sure to mention anything that can cause a dietary concern, for example, contains nuts).

Spoopy themed party recipe ideas:

>"lady fingers" shaped cookies
>Jack-o-Lantern cookies
>carrots and dip - arranged like a Jack-o-Lantern
>finger sandwiches (you can use Halloween shaped cookie cutters)

Music - keep it low, but just enough to set the ambiance. Be sure to prepare a playlist on your iTunes or invest in Spotify unlimited to avoid commercials. Here are some fun, lesser known suggestions:

>Of Montreal (dance-able psychedelic rock with spooky themes)
>Graveyard Train - horror themed country music
>Nick Cave - Red Right Hand
>Bauhaus

And classics:
>B-52s - Rock Lobster
>Monster Mash
>Nightmare Before Christmas OST
>The Addam's Family theme
>Michael Jackson - Thriller, Somebody's Watching Me
>Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper
>Superstition - Stevie Wonder

I'm trying to place an order on Atelier Pierrot's website, but I keep getting an error that says "Your name ( phonetic) " Please enter full-width Katakana."

No offense to you in particular at all, anon, but as someone with totally small bust-line and buys a lot of second-hand, just please don't force yourself into clothes like these. It clearly doesn't fit you and it's not good when you resell it to people like me. I've had some stretched out MM pieces, probably by people who shouldn't have tried them on to begin with.

The bust and even the shoulders look too tight. It's really better you get a bigger brand or even get custom made. You don't look fat or anything, it's just clearly a petite dress not made for someone of your body type.

For the record, the top one says your name in kanji, and the lower one says you name in furigana.

Unfortunately for those of us who aren't Japanese and have neither of those, it's always hit and miss with trying to fill in the form. On the lower one, definitely translate your name into katakana and use that.

The upper one is where you'll have to try and see what works. Some sites accept the same name in katakana, some sites accept a name with alphabets.

>buy stuff in the proper shades JUST by seeing stock photos?

I don't. I have 4 different lavender prints, 1 lavender blouse (all from AP), and the blouse only matches the print from the same series, so I have 4 different shades of lavender already. I'm getting a pair of lavender shoes (also AP) from the sale and god knows if it will be similar to any of the other 4, or a totally different shade altogether. It's the same story with other colours, though. There's a navy blue hairbow here that leans towards nearly-black turqoise instead of nearly-blue, it literally matches nothing in my entire wardrobe even though I own 4-5 dresses in blue and navy from AP, aatp and moitie.

Except for black colourways from brand, I always buy the matching headwear along with a main piece to avoid matching problems, it goes a long way to looking like you match. I try not to have my heart set on doing a particular coord with specific items until they've arrived and I can see whether they look okay together or not, and it also helps to know what colours go together so it's easier if things don't match 100%.

Why do we give ita's such a hard time over this then? Because now it really seems like haha, you're too poor to buy 4 different shirts to see what color they are in person.
Even as a non-poor person, I don't want to buy 4 different blouses just to see them in person especially if it turns out I don't want them. Yes, I could sell them, but then that's even more work from me and stuff doesn't always sell.

I'd buy matching headwear from AP or BTSSB if I liked the head wear, but I don't always. Sometimes the head dress is some maxi pad looking thing and I don't want it.
So then what? I'm just shit out of luck?

Innocent world is good. Jane marple and etc solid color pieces also go for relatively cheap on auctions. Depends on the piece. Some of the brand new ones are popular enough to sell out through reservation, and many of them (even some of the less popular pieces that end up on sale) are extremely difficult to find secondhand because people do seem to like hanging on to them, so if you really like a certain piece, you better get it when you can.

>she thinks I'm going to steal him away and keeps darting angry glances at me even though I'm sitting far away from him
>somehow everyone is nearly naked and I flip at how that just happened
>his dad shows up and says, "you guys keep it down OK?" - lol
>I rush to get my clothes on and leave to the kitchen for food
>party is slowing down and guests want to help tidy up
>this time angry girl is in a well coordinated sweet lolita outfit, I think chocolate themed iirc
>she tricks me into carrying her half of the party's garbage
>as I take the garbage out, i ask a guy hanging out with us if it's worth trying to be friends with her (im from tiny comm irl and have been trying to find more Lolitas to join on our meets)
>"No, anon, she's a fucking bitch."

I woke up thinking about how if I meet a bitchy girl like that irl, even if she wore the latest prints and coordinated very well, I couldn't bring myself to have her join our comm because even though im not responsible for other people's actions, people like that would bring a lot of unnecessary hurt feelings among individuals.

>buy a bunch of shit until stuff matches.

Not really. You'll honestly have an easier time if you cultivate your colour sense, do colourful coords and don't rely on specific items matching 100%.

For instance, the most basic bitch coord that you can almost always fall back on, is a matching set of blouse and legwear in ivory, white or black (whichever goes best with your main piece), and then bag and shoes in a colour that "goes with" your jsk colour instead of matching it 100%. Blouse and legwear in those colourways are pretty easy to find, so you'd only need to worry about matching shoes and bag to each other, and making sure the colour doesn't clash with your main piece.

For sweet, normally it's a white blouse and legwear, and pastel matched shoes and bag (the bag matches the shoes), the combination usually works with almost all pastel colours and looks decent with some of the brighter colours AP puts out. If you ever feel befuddled by unmatching things, this coord is one you can always go back to.

So, you don't really need to buy four lavender blouses just to maybe find one that matches. It's just fun to have lavender blouses, and it's really great when you go through your closet and realise there's a match, but it's more like a bonus (if you found it by chance) or an additional burden (if you insist on a matching lavender blouse) rather than something every lolita must do in order to not be ita. Mostly we shit on totally mismatched itas because here's this basic coord that almost anybody can do, and yet they insist on having a lavender blouse that doesn't even match the coord.

How to make lolita friends online? I'm friends with lolitas that live near me, but it's hard for me to maintain an online conversation? How to approch someone without being obnoxius (sp?) or creepy?

Honestly it comes down a lot to other interests and how well your personalities blend. Yeah, you might like lolita, but how far can a conversation on lolita go without getting repetitive?
Like if you have high standards on behaviours such as post people do on here, you're gonna find it hard to maintain a conversation with a lolita that might be an obnoxious weeaboo and "XDDD what ships do u like?" all the time. That is if you're actually judgmental like the rest of us. So you're going to have to find a different sort of person which in turn may be boring as fuck.
It's like that, and so on and so forth.

I need help, gulls, anyone has dealt with this?

That's so sweet!
My mom bought me a pair of fishnets that had a bow design on them, and some lacy ankle socks that look like they belong in a porno.
t-thanks mom.
At least she meant well.

No, again, not really. We've got a noob posting nitpicks in the ita threads at the moment (and getting bitched at for it), but one mismatched blouse will only make you nitpick material, not outright ita. And given some girls will nitpick things like biscuit bags being worn with chocolate dresses because of their OCD, being nitpicked isn't that big a deal. It takes being so colour mismatched that your eyes feel the need to squint (or look away) in order to be ita material, not just one mismatched item.

If it's not about being easy, then yes, expect it to be hard, and expect to buy some items that will arrive a different colour. Again, much easier if you don't insisit on single-colour coords, for eg do a pink blouse with a lavender jsk instead of trying for the exact same shade of lavender in both.

VM offers them, follow their blog for release dates, sometimes the blog link goes to a different page than anything on their shop. They also did some kind of set earlier this month/last month. You have to be fast though, they always sell out by the time I read the release page (but then I'm not after the pack as I always worry I'll get the OPs that don't fit me).

Boz offers them. You can find some opening posts if you google it. No idea when they offer them though, they haven't done so yet this year to my knowledge.

Anyone seen this bag in real life or in coord shots? I am wondering if it's more like navy or if it's greenish blue like this pic looks on my monitor (and will clash with navy).

At least she can spell Michael. That really is him (and Jermaine) singing the chorus so she's not totally wrong.

Boz does lucky packs at Halloween and New Years. Halloween is in-store only, New Years is online and in-store.

>>8617700

Moitie is online and limited at Kera (I think last time was EGL only). New Year and there was one back in July or something.

Is Infanta of Lolita Dress on Aliexpress the real Infanta?
And similarly, it's pretty well established that my-lolita-dress is a taobao reseller and not a Milanoo front, right?

Sorry for the babby-tier questions, I'm in desperate need of a coat and Infanta told my shopping service that they didn't have any more in stock and weren't planning on making more, so I'm desperately scraping for reputable stores to buy leftover stock from

I have a question, I just won an auction and I noticed it says (according to google translate) JSK Set Kachu. What is a kachu, does that mean I get the matching headbow as well? The description and photos are sparse.

Yes, that is their store. They even link it from their taobao store if you ever want to verify.
Yes, it is a reseller.

is just sale stuff. Damn... I did like 4 separate orders, only the first came normally, so I got confident and clicked where the symbols reminded me without translating as usual. Stupid fuck.

I sent emails to both, Tenso asked to talk to AP. Yeah right.

Emailed them.

I will just report back what happens.

I'm pretty sure that "kachu" is "katyusha" which is indeed a headband/headbow.

When I was a noob and got my first petti, it was a F+F one and since I was new I got it a bit too long for knee-length dresses. But it turned out to be the perfect length and volume for tea length dresses because it's an organza-tulle mix and the tulle crushed down a bit over time. So I would recommend a F+F petti at custom length- let it deflate a little bit, and it will be the perfect volume.

Holy shit how did I miss this, a totally-not-Rottenberg rerelease!? I wonder if I should use the money I set aside to pay for a figure release later this season to buy it, Rottenburg is the last dream print I've yet to get my hands on... I just hope this won't be a 100+cm lengths release like the last several JSK releases have been, they make me look like a hobbit at 5'.
