Seagulls, do any of you wear kimono as regular fashion?

I've been collecting kimono for a few years and occasionally bring them out for conventions, but recently have started wanting to wear them out as regular fashion. I know I'll probably be seen as a massive weeb, but I'd at least like it to look like I'm doing it from a fashion standpoint.

Outfits/kimono/experiences, show me what you've got.

I get vintage haori of ebay and wear them on a pretty regular basis. Just jeans, nice top and one.
Or my fave thing is to wear a knee length fitted dress with one as something to wear to parties and stuff.

Where I live there are shitty (so shitty) cheap ass fashion 'kimonos' on sale, and they're 5x the price of me getting a real vintage haori off ebay.
At least I'm wearing the real thing and not a shitty bastardised western knock off.

I wear haori with anything tbh(I have a plum coloured one that looks fab with a LBD). I'd love to wear my kimono more often(like a lot of folks on Immortal Geisha do) but right now I need to order some decent kitsuke stuff(kimono bra etc.).

OP have you ever though about wearing kimono, hime style? Or with western accessories? I've seen pics of girls wearing kimono with western footwear and accessories and most look stylish(others look off). It might be a good way of wearing kimono w/o looking like a weeb

Living in Japan and really want to research the industrialization/meiji/showa-era style with "western" elements like lace and boots, since it's so gorgeous. Are there any magazines I could buy here with inspiration for kimono-looks?

Making one is a good idea, wearing one deliberately short is another possibility but it needs to be styled well, it shouldn't look like an accident. Also doing this probably better suits casual kimono rather than yukata admittedly.

I'm thinking of making a very simple booklet with the basics of not wearing a kimono like a total fucking weeb for a local anime club whose idea of wearing a kimono is 'a bathrobe but with layers'. Does anyone have any ideas on what to put in and what to leave out? I'm thinking of covering the basics (kimono vs yukata, right over left and why you shouldn't do that, why an obi and a leather belt are not the same) but I don't know how much info is too much info. I'd also like to cover simple accessories and makeup and shoes, but I might make that into a separate booklet.
Anyone tried doing this sort of thing before? What were your experiences?

Gonna confirm, these basting stitches indicate kimono that has never been worn. You are definitely supposed to remove them before wearing.

I'm pretty sure the one on the left is a juban? With that white collar and the tie, that's the only thing I can think of. The other may be as well. Or it could be a vintage piece. It's hard to say, because it looks like she has her hands sticking out of the opening under the sleeve, rather than the sleeve itself.

Maybe see if you can find the original post on the site? They usually say what they're wearing for big items, even if it's just "vintage kimono" or something.

Japanese drycleaners also do those basting stitches too actually. So unfortunately, it's not a good way to judge if it was worn or not. It has, however, been cleaned properly. They're also put in pieces that the owner knows will be in storage a long time, to keep them crisp and smooth (ie: formal pieces that are generally only worn once or twice, before passing to a younger relative).

Don't trust sites like that blindly, they don't know their kitsuke.

They are both juban. The one with the white collar is very clearly a vintage nagajuban, hitoe one to be exact.

The other one is most likely a lined vintage nagajuban - those existed for winter wear. You can tell by the red lining and the fact this this shade of red is very uncommon in kimono for women, it used to be for juban only (and for girls' kimono). The dotting might be shibori or edo komon style patterning, hard to tell from this picture.

I bought a gorgeous ceremony kimono from kimonopetitjapon a while ago and I'm having a little trouble.
I didn't notice it was meant for ceremonies, I just found the pattern gorgeous and for 10$ it was insta bidding. The fabric is a little shiny so it really doesn't look like something to be worn casually (sorry, I'm a kimono noob).
I've learnt the dos and don'ts of putting on a kimono but I still feel it'd be disrespectful/stupid to walk around in something like that.
So my question is, has anyone here got a kimono for display only? I'm really enamored with the fabric and I'd love to hang it on my room's wall instead.
Should I have it framed or would it be fine just having it hanging on a support? Framing might be super expensive for something that size and I don't think I have enough wall space for it but I'm scared of damaging the fabric just by leaving it hanging on the wall.
Any tips? Forgive my dumb questions, I'm just slowly studying the subject.
