I was going to post this! Usually fully shirred bodices are a huge no for plus size, but this actually works.

>> No.8577181

>>8577175
It's because her bust actually maxed out the shirring so the bodice doesn't even look shirred anymore. It's actually kind of clever.

>> No.8577185

>>8577181
I think it's also the construction of the dress. Some dresses still have ruffled michelin-like fabric even when the shirring is all stretched out.

> What are some flattering plus size brand dresses?
Flly shirred usually looks horrible, unless you cover it up with a bolero.
Wear something that accentuates your waist. Empire/high waisted is hard to pull off. Don't wear skirts with corsett parts, it will make you look even more busty and frumpy in most cases. A-line AP potato sack dresses should be avoided as well.

> Tips on managing boobloaf?
Pray that the dress will fit. If not, use a bolero and a distracting necklace, make sure to take a flattering picture. No one in real life will care unless it's absolutley awful.

> Tips on dressing for your body type
Figure out your body type, get custom sized shit, spend time and effort on your outfit. Spend less time on the tumblr fat-acceptance side.

Any, as long as you know how to dress yourself.

>> No.8577263

> What are some flattering plus size brand dresses?
This is going to depend entirely upon your body type and how you are proportioned. Nobody is shaped the same. You're going to need to experiment to figure out what suits you. For example, a-line chiffon empire waists look amazing on me and make me looks smaller whereas anything sitting at my waistline makes me look bigger. I have small arms and legs and I'm topheavy without a narrow defined waist (this isn't just fat, but I won't see anything below a 27-28" waist unless I fall into the very underweight category). Some people say skirts are best, I look like a shapeless mass with tits floating on stilts in them.
> Tips on managing boobloaf?
Avoid anything with high contrast in the princess seams. Otherwise, invest in cute boleros, especially if it's a dress you really love. Lengthen your straps, do anything within your means to get the girls up higher into where the fullest part of the bust is intended to sit instead of closer to the waistline where it actually sits. Binders won't do you any good and only work if you're pushing the max measurements, same with sports bras. I recommend minimizers.
> Tips on dressing for your body type
Follow the guides that are out there but don't be afraid to deviate and experiment. Also keep in mind that in the mirror it might look great, in person it might look okay, in pictures it might look terrible. This is how 3D to 2D and camera focus works.
> Which style do you think looks better on plus size girls?
Whatever style they prefer, honestly. I've seen great lolitas in all styles.

>> No.8577291

>>8577243
Avoid lower angles. Full frontal might hide some boobloaf esp. when paired with a bolero and may make you look less busty (this is what I need to focus on).
Practice some poses which look good on pictures. >>8577169 for example is a nice pose (frontal, hand on waistline always helps) though >>8577171 works fine as well. This is up to your body shape and coord though. Be experimental and rather take a few picutres too much. Learn which poses and angles work for you!

Study fat angles and modelling tips- things like how to tilt your head/neck to avoid maximum chins, not holding your arms flat to your sides, how to pose so you give yourself a waist and legs instead of looking like a potato. Cameras can be very forgiving if you know how to pose, but try to avoid excessive filters/shoop, and make sure to use good lighting. Take a couple of shots in different light sources to see which ones make you look good, believe me it does make a difference.
Oh, and learn to do makeup well. Contouring and blusher can make a HUGE difference.

Jfash in general runs pretty small, and some of the people posted here (such as >>8577171 and >>8577175 for example) would be seen as average in size in most places.

If you can sew, and if you feel comfortable altering your dream dresses, definitely do as other anon said and remove the front shirring if you can still fit into the dresses without it. Not the Anon yo responded to, but having a large bust is worse than a slightly bigger waist, at least in Lolita. It is a lot easier to find stuff that goes up to a 78 waist than something that goes to a 104 bust. And especially something that fits you in bith waist and bust without being ridiculously too big on the waist.

I'm "only" a 97 bust/76 waist, and still it's a pain in the ass. Especially as a Classic Lolita who is unable to fit most of the Classic burando due to boobs. And even if you actually fit stuff, there's still boobloaf/straps too short/etc because in the end, most dresses weren't made for big boobs.
I am currently in the process of losing some weight, but bog boobs just run in the family. They'll never go away.

Her IG: https://instagram.com/cupcakesloveme/
The thing about her is that it seems she can't fit a petti, so I would be offering your client a petticoat as well.
I would recommend checking to see if she has a dropped waist and a paunch belly or checking if her stomach comes straight out from under her breasts, because a wide 'belt' (more like what's found on skirts with the double bands whose names escape me or a front-laced dress) seems to work better than the digging in elastic.

Personally I'm not this large, but if your client has any aaaany sort of waist then accentuate the fuck out of it in the dress and make sure you accommodate elastic/shirring into the back to ensure the bust will look good if her bust fluctuates (can happen when on periods or if she gains weight)

I'm also tall enough that knee-length socks end a good hand-width below my actual knee and even the stretchiest otks stay barely at knee-length :( I think kneesocks are making it worse anyway but any help would be appreciated

Tights/stockings, obviously. Depends on what shoes you wear.
Also, cute frill ankle socks over sheer tights and knee-socks pulled down to be slouchy if you like sweet.

I have the same legs but a but thicker though so here's some tips:

Meta tights and OTKs are your bffs and their otks can stretch like nothing.

BL OTKs have decent stretch and have basic colord so look into them

Just wearing ankle socks is a bad idea, pair it up with some simple patterned tights or matching colored tights to your coord.

Nude tights help to keep your otks from falling but sock glue works just as great

Brand tights that have prints from AP or Baby are bad but can be worked with. Adjust the images of the tights so they don't look stretch out. Mets tights are usually the best for thicker legs though.

Heels, small or tall, can make your legs look longer and more define. If you can't wear heels, then try to use simple patterns on your leg to define it more.

Single colored tights makes our legs look bigger so keep that in mind, polka dots or simple sheer tights with roses or whatever matches your coord best will look a lot better.

It's lolita. Loli basically only refers to loli-con amongst the more serious members. Best not to piss off anyone if you're new. Do a lot of reading, study a lot of coords and put a ton on in front of the mirror. You don't need to colour match for this, just look at the cuts and styles of different items and how they mix.

Wherever the seams are taking strain, use thread just below upholstery in strength, double it, and stitch. My waist is tiny compared to my busy. So, I stitch the space between the two "strained" buttons closed with a hidden stitch. I can still pull it over my head, it puts less strain in the original stitches, and it gives a tailored look instead of a loafed look. Of course, test it to make sure you can pull it over your shoulders and your soft tissue.

Also: use chokers are long streamed strained hackles. Anything that sits where the boob slope starts or in the nipple area will just make boobs look larger. Being attention to the upper neck with beautiful earrings.

Yeah, bullet bras are a game change. Their design gives that vintage look under sweaters, but for something a little tight they distribute the soft tissue to be better separated. I like "what Katie did" bras. If you are lucky you may be able to find some on etsy.

But, no matter what, don't ever wear padded bras. For big-bust and curvy bodies just look terrible. In general these body types look terrible with the contemporary "wonderbra" style.

No matter what, wear spanx and control garments. This isn't to make you smaller, just smoother. Everything will look best with smoother lines.

Bring attention to the waist if you're lucky enough to be a figure-8. This means out your broaches on the waist. Princess sleeves are a big aid because the 3/4 sleeves brings attention to the waist, and at any length they take eyes off the bust.

Everything is about taking attention from the boobs and putting it elsewhere. Avoid heavily detailed upper bodice garments and low collars. Cuts intended to be drop-waisted for smaller body-sizes like Asian women will look v good.

Sorry for the post-op rambling.

Apologies, absolute disaster was indeed a bit of a exaggeration I guess. As a seamstress I can see that what is a messy job in my eyes is really, in reality, no more than a nitpick.

I think my hackles were up mostly because I see so much poorly made, hand made "lolita" wandering around on plus sized lolitas so I was already in a hating mood. Also those 'I'm a designerchan's' who post pics of their monstrosities on regretsy.

I also get weirdly uncomfortable/ eyes roll into the back of head, when I see plus sized girls getting all, "must have", "how do I commission" over things like this. I think its because of seeing too many fatty chans cooing over milanoo in FB sales posts.

Honestly, weight watchers is a huge scam. They have these like... moist chocolate brownies that are clearly loaded with carbs and sugar, too. You have to join a program for it to ever work.
Exercise is the best way to lose weight. You can keep eating what you usually eat, but you burn more calories.

Fuck off, idiot. You're obviously one of those people who have been ~thin all their life~

Yikes, anon. Exercising doesn't burn nearly as many calories as a lot of people seem to think; the best way to lose weight is by simply cutting calories. Like >>8584144 said, if you were only overeating by a few hundred a day, you could lose weight if you exercised a couple of hours, but you'd lose more weight and build better eating habits if you just cut out those ~300+ calories along with daily exercise.

Different anon here. Someone could eat like absolute shit as long as they're maintaining calories in and calories out. However, the weight melts off significantly better, and one's body is less flabby, if they're committed to an exercise routine.

I noticed a difference when I jogged two miles in the morning, lifted an hour in the evening, and jogged two more miles later at night than when I had significantly less exercise and desperately tried to eat no more than 1100 calories a day. Exercise also helps your body regulate sugar and cholesterol levels, something obesechans definitely need quickly.
Diet is important, but consistent exercise is of greater importantance.

Oh I got those in cross country in high school, they're nasty. The reason why you're getting them is because you're straining your body more than what it's used to. The best thing to do is to work up to a jogging routine.
I don't have the chart anymore, but you essentially do 1 minute of walking and 1 minute of jogging alternatively for 30 minutes. You gradually increase the jogging while reducing the walking over time over the course of a few weeks.

Also, your treadmill shocks might be bad. Powerwalking with a high incline accomplishes the same workout as a jog, btw.

But if you're eating what you normally eat and you stay the same weight (say you're 150kgs or something), simply adding in exercise will mean that you're burning more calories than usual, therefore weight loss. I don't mean if you eat McDonalds twice a week and have a slice of cake every now and then. I'm talking about people who consistently eat the same things.

For me, my diet is relatively 'good', but I ate a lot of carbs. I haven't even gotten around to cutting those and already lost a lot of weight regardless.

>>8584152
Of course you would lose more weight by cutting, but it's more 'fun' and it's a lot easier for people easing into weightloss if they just pick up a hobby exercise. After they see that progress, they can then decide if they want to cut or keep eating as they do.

What I'm saying is that if you're trying to lose weight just... be easy on yourself? A lot of people I know who lost weight don't really keep their weight down after losing it because the change is SO dramatic. They're throwing themselves into a routine of food they don't love and exercise that they don't enjoy and, once they reach their goal, go back to their old life. It's much more important to find a manageable routine and to find something that you enjoy to decrease your weight.

I have a lapband but it never made a difference in my weight until I decided to take up biking in the morning which also helped my sleep pattern. I'm about to start cutting carbs. I'm so bad with sugar that when I first got my lapband and went on a liquid diet I had the runs the whole time because it's more or less yogurt, pureed fruit, smoothies (with fruit) etc. Too much sugar. Carbs are my obvious problem.

Surgery isn't a last option here. Here, it's covered by insurance.
Especially if you're like me and nearly die on the operating table because they gave you antibiotics that you're apparently new allergic to and spend 40 mins being resuscitated on the operating table.

i think the total bill for my lapband (including second operation) was about $400 but here ICU isn't something you pay for. Maybe a bit more because they had to have a second anaesthesiologist at hand for the second (successful) surgery.

>If anon is able bodied enough to exercise why would they offer surgery?
Because able bodied obese people can still struggle to lose weight and often regain the weight they've lost. Getting gastric bypass limits their consumption and actually changes the way their body metabolizes nutrients and processes carbs and fats. If someone is fat enough and has a history of failed weight loss attempts then it's better for their health to railroad them to surgery instead of wasting time with arbitrary diet guidelines that they're likely to fail again.

I think the issue with gastric bypass is that a lot of people see/hear about it with someone who doesn't make the mental change and thinks the surgery is like a 'magic pill' kinda deal. Three of my aunts were really obese like 10 years ago, all got gastric bypass, still obese because they didn't bother to do anything after surgery (changing their eating habits/exercise), versus a success story with gastric bypass. I really haven't heard a lot of stories of it working, even though it does. Know what I mean?

>People don't just get to be insanely heavy because they love food.
It's actually quite simple to gain weight and it only takes an excess of 200-300 calories a day to gain 15 pounds in a year. That's an extra heavy snack or a caloric beverage. Over the course of four years that would be 60 pounds.

>> No.8584218

Yes, they often do have mental problems, as I said, they have a compulsion to eat. Are you really able to eat 10k calories? I (and a lot of people I know, even ones fatter than me) can't because it takes years of dedication to stretch out your stomach that far. Once you're used to eating that much your brain has trouble going back to eating an appropriate diet.

Fair point, but I also have a point to make that the guidelines and programs for modern gastric surgeries are a lot more strict and they're more likely to make it known to their patients that it isn't just some magic trick.
My friend underwent a lap band but she had to see a nutritionist, read a bunch of information on the failure rates, prove she was going to a gym, and sign a bunch of waivers. She understood it was a tool.

Any kind of show about morbidly obese people, we'll take My 600 lb Life, there's always some kind of emotional trauma from their lives. Something is wrong if you're overeating to the point of obesity, it's the same deal with undereating to a dangerously low weight; it's not normal and needs to be addressed. Whether it be some kind of past trauma, current problems, or psychologically related.
And yes, it's extremely easy to gain a lot of weight if you -don't exercise at all-. Just walking to my classes across campus burns hundreds of calories a day, you're a human being, you're meant to move around.

There's been two people itt who have admitted they had gastric surgery. Do you seriously believe they were 600 pounds? No? Then surely you can't deny the difference in lifestyles between someone who weighs 200 pounds and someone who weighs fucking 600. If you admit that, then why is compulsive eating relevant to them when you're taking an extreme case (on reality tv no less) and trying to assert that every person who gets that procedure has a mental damage because some 600 pound sick person eats 15,000 calories a day? Her size has been going up and down during the years but most of the time she has been plus size. She is just a awesome lolita and knows what suits her so it makes her look smaller. Also corsets.

This girl from a couple of plus size threads ago is my idol. She is plus size with some pretty large measurements but she doesn't look like it, and posted some great advice about how to fit and look better with a tight sports bra. I wish I had a screenshot.

What are they?

I should have made a screenshot but I remember only the bust measurement was 104cm.

104cm isn't that huge, anon.

>> No.8590405

And presumably that's why anon said "pretty large" and not "huge"

It's bigger than 95% of brand dresses. I am 103cm myself and I get so excited when I find out AP dresses that stretch that much. You don't need to be obese to be considered plus size in lolita.

>You don't need to be obese to be considered plus size in lolita.

Except you do realize there are non-plus size lolitas with that same bust measurement?
I wasn't implying obesity is the only thing considered plus size, just that 104cm isn't a super complicated measurement to work with.

This. Measurements alone don't make you plus size or even obese for that matter. It all depends on your height and distribution of weight

Girl, you need to be a bit more subtle.

>> No.8590625

But based on looks I'd definetely say this girl is plus sized.

I bought the XL size of the black jsk of this dress just because I was afraid my boobs wouldn't fit otherwise (34 D) and the dress is HUGE on me.
I really want to trade for the Large and could maaaybe even sized down to the medium.

I dont understand why i'm pear shaped but my waist is like that....Losing weight doesn't help. Maybe my ribcage is sorta large.

I wear shape wear for a smoother silhouette. I've gained a lot of weight recently so I use a waist cincher to help smooth out my back fat.

I don't think you're plus sized, but people involed in jfash are so used to seeing teeny tiny girls that the perception is a little screwed.

I think it's a lovely coord, but the thinks that make people think you're plus sized are the wig (hime styles usually make people look like chubbier for some reason) and the frilly ankle socks, which can change the silhouette of your legs to look wider.

I'd say keep on wearing what you want, you look fab

>> No.8596340

>>8580679
Hmm. I have muscular legs and I don't think that ankle socks are the most flattering. Stick with otks and tights. Vertical patterns and chunky heeled shoes tend to create the illusion of slimmer legs.

>> No.8596342

>>8596340
Whoops. I had to reread your post. Have you looked into Chantilly? See if any indie brands can make longer otks and tights. Also, some AP otks are surprisingly stretchy.

more of this girl please?

>> No.8596695

Any more classic? I only see 1-2 coords in here, seems really hard to find plus size classic. I know the brands run smaller.

>> No.8597002

Does anyone know a good place to buy patterned socks that will fit thick legs? Or can anyone give general measurements for brand socks? I see some plus sized girls wearing brand socks but I can't tell how big their legs actually are just in pictures

>> No.8597094

>>8597002
Well, how big are yours? I have brand socks and they vary wildly in between brands. Meta are the stretchiest among the ones I own, BABY the smallest. I've also made great experiences with Leur Getter, they go way past my knee and I'm fat-legged and 5'8".

See, AP is the smallest I own. The Baby Socks I have actually have a really good stretch to them. But Meta is definitely the stretchiest by far

The widest part on my calf is about 39 cm (or 15 and a half inches?) I am currently working out to lose weight, but larger calves seem to run in the family so I'm worried they're not doing to slim down much!

I'm pretty much the same size as you, so I guess the fit will be similar. I think Meta is a safe brand to buy from.
