A girl I met at a convention ages ago wound up stalking me and making my life hell for a while.

Mind you, she didn't seem creepy before that, aside from occasional anger issues.

The girls who did seem "creepy" to me were just socially awkward. The few I can think of have grown up.

My bf and I went to a con in Haikyuu cosplay and two girls arround 15 years follow us all the con. Really uncomfortable.

I feel like if you're cosplaying anything thats got a lot of yaoi overtones or fanart its going to be way worse. One girl shoved me up against a wall, tried to jam her tongue in my mouth, and just about yanked my shirt open for the sake of 'fanservice' with her character. I told the staff about her because I actually ended up with a split elbow (it was a brick wall) and I greatly prefer to not have stranger-spit on my face. Apparently she claimed she thought I was just being in character when I tried to fight her off.

My boyfriend was followed around con all day by a hambeast who ended up trying to kiss him at an 18 plus panel five times before she left crying. Said she was 'sick'. Luckily bf didn't come down with anything but she was outright disusting and would not leave him alone because he was cosplaying her 'husbando' or some shit.

Worst I've run into so far from a woman is while wearing my Tony Stark outfit, this same girl at 2 cons this year has requested a hug and then told me (Tony Stark) not to screw things up? I'm a guy and I've been lucky enough to avoid creeper girls so far. I have been creeped on by a guy once, that was disturbing. And I'm not even fem looking. I have run into one girl twice this year (2 different conventions) that has requested to hug my character but she's never done anything in the creeper realm of grabbing me or anything, so I don't mind if it continues.

I was cosplaying at a large group photoshoot once a few years back and a girl I didn't know who was definitely older than me suggested we do fanservice for a pose (I was a minor at the time). Very creepy when she suggested I kiss her, she didn't seem weirded out at all. You get all kinds showing up at fandom photoshoots though, so...

Most of the genuinely creepy/weird women that go to cons in my area are 40+ and legit mentally retarded in some fashion or another.

We had a lady last year that was walking around taking creeper shots of people's kids at con, and she honestly could not grasp the concept of that technically being against the law in this state. She kept defending herself by saying that they were 'candids' and 'if people didn't want their picture taken they could tell me to delete it', despite the fact that most of her pictures were sniped from behind or 20+ feet away.

We have another lady that makes regular appearances at all the local cons, and she's easily old enough to be someone's grandmother. Unkempt, likes to cosplay scantily clad schoolgirls, and she's always talking to herself. It's actually kinda sad, since she's always alone, but at the same time she gives off the kind of aura that makes you not want to get too close. She might be a harmless grandma, she might be living in a group home for the mentally unsound and have a shiv made out of a chicken bone under her small plaid skirt. You never know.

The most notorious female creepers have been fatties or weebs. My 2 cents is that at cons, there is a slightly higher percentage of creepy guys, but their creepy is pretty expected/tame. Sneaky boob grope, creepy comments, following people round, upskirt shots etc. It's still creepy and they should fuck off, but when girls are creepy? They're batshit fucking insane.

We're at the indoor fountains posing with some pilot cosplayers. I hear someone squeal ZECHSU and turn to see a hamplanet in a green tanktop and a shorn wig smack the boyfriend on the ass with a yaoi paddle. Was at a con a few years back with a group of friends.

Was single at the time and had a few friends with benefits. My most frequent benefit friend was good in bed and 8/10 attractive but insane - A true yandere. My friends literally thought I was going to get knifed one day by her. She's not a con-goer and didn't get on with my other friends so didn't go.

Was at Amecon when it was still in Keele - The phone signal is terrible there and it makes reaching people a nightmare. Enjoyed my Saturday going to panels, hanging with old friends and drinking.

Candids aren't against the law in our state, but there ARE laws in place regarding the specific photography of minors without parent or guardian permission. There isn't a reasonable expectation of privacy in public spaces, so if your kid is caught in the background of someone else's family photo it's fine. "Candids" specifically fall under this law if they're just of the crowd at large, but if you're seeking out and photographing a specific child without asking permission it's in violation. A lot of the woman's photos were within the convention space anyway, so they were on "private" property, and I'm not entirely sure how the law applies in that situation.

She was mostly angry that people dared to question whether or not she asked permission for a LOT of her photos, since so many of them were of people obviously looking away or eating. Most of the outrage was because of the whole silly "Cosplay is not consent" movement, but the creepshots of small children were the only part that was actually legally objectionable (so far as I understand).

But a lot of the earlier posts in these threads are people who simply failed to even have basic assertiveness and let things spiral out of control all around them.

A shove is minor. Telling someone to stop in a stern voice is minor. These things may not be enough to stop someone.

Grappling isn't a good solution either. Grappling an opponent larger then yourself (likely, in the case of hambeasts vs. scrawny kids) is never favorable. Especially if you both end up on the ground.

The best situation is and will always be, to avoid confrontation at all if possible. Sometimes they can't be avoided, and then the best possible situation is to immediately distance yourself, again, if possible. Sometimes you'll need to use force to do so, or get external help.

Again, worst case scenario is you gotta strike someone. But you should always know that its an available option to you.

How about a spray bottle? Only harm it will cause is ruining someone's unsealed body paint or make up. Not as painful as pepper spray (I had a whiff of it once and was sniffling and teary for like 30 minutes) and will leave them stunned for a solid moment. Not talking giant windex size spray, but just something small enough to leave a nice squirt to get them to hold it.
