What was the worst and most shameful thing you did in lolita? Scammed a buyer? Claimed a package never arrived? Sold a dirty dress as mint condition?

>> No.8547245

>bought a pair of shoes off eBay
>shipped without tracking
>didn't arrive within estimated time frame, opened dispute
>won, receive refund
>shoes arrive day later
>haven't contacted seller yet

Though to be fair, the seller wasn't particularly responsive or cooperative during the process either. All their replies were basically "trust us we're not scammers!"

>mfw I'm trying to sell some shoes on eBay and stuff like this scares the hell out of me

Anon, don't be a dick. Usually when people ship without tracking, it's to save both of you money. If it's from outside your country, which I'm assuming it is, that was definitely the case. Just pay it up. Arriving a day late is no excuse to basically steal from them.

A girl in my comm posted about her dream dress up for auctions on her facebook.... I ended up bidding on it and winning it. The dress is rather obscure and rare, and all of her friends are on the hunt for it, so it's not like I can wear it out without being questioned.

Idk if I should sell the dress to her or something, or put it up on LM under a pseudo name.

Different anon, but this is why I never offer my items to international buyers when selling my items, whether in the lolita comm sales or on eBay. (I would give an exception for a friend who lives abroad, but that is the exception.) And even within the U.S., I'll put in tracking and signing as mandatory. That way PayPal has my back in case the buyer files a dispute. Sorry, non-U.S. buyers (especially the Canadians), but you're going to have to buy secondhand from people who do take that risk.

Not to mention international shipping is expensive and I really don't want to waste my time educating people who whine about shipping fees blowing up the overall cost.

Shipping something tracked international from the US is a huge headache and insanely priced. I used to work for the post office, and basically if you're shipping an OP and want it tracked, it's around $65-80. Most people don't want to deal with the bullshit run-around that the US post will give them anyways because it's a terrible company (note: not government service, USPS is certainly a company that is just overseen by the government) that doesn't want to take responsibility for fucking anything.

It's not the same. If selling internationally you have to fill out a customs form regardless, but the forms for tracked are like a damn book and go so far as the post having to decide what hour the item will be delivered, so the wait for them to get all the info is an incredible hassle. The price for tracked US shipping is far higher than most countries for sure, because there literally is no cheaper option.

This is one of the biggest reasons I avoid overseas buyers unless absolutely necessary. My local USPS is run so incompetently. Standing in line usually takes 30 minutes AT THE VERY LEAST. If there's a line of 20 people? The USPS agent will still be like, "idgaf it's time for a smoke break" with no replacement, leaving all 20 people to wait for one service window. Most of the agents at my USPS don't even understand how to do anything more complex than selling stamps or shipping a domestic package, so I also often have to explain the international shipping process to them, how the customs form works, etc. It is not worth the headache unless the dress I'm selling is $250 at minimum.

I noticed on Etsy when you print out international labels through them they come with a tracking number. Also direct through the USPS website, "first class international" offers tracking for most destinations. About $6.50 for light items. Does anyone know if this tracking actually holds up as proof on paypal? I remember a long time ago it didn't for some dumb reason but perhaps things have changed.

International lolis scammed me three times in a few months before I had to stop international shipping for that shop altogether. I've never had a single "lost package" issue with my other shop despite having sold far more items.

First class international certainly does not offer tracking at all, (you have to upgrade to GXE or EMS) only a customs number. It just gets printed the same on the label, but you can't actually use it on the website. However, printing first class off for domestic the tracking will always work.

It definitely does, as I've been using it but it only seems to be offered online. Here's tracking from a recent package, only cost $6.50 to go out first class. I remember a discussion a few years back about this tracking not holding up for Paypal claims so I'm curious about if they're valid proof now. The number looks just like a normal international tracking number so I don't see why not, but I'm a bit wary. It is indeed a huge price difference.

>> No.8547653

>>8547649
That is really strange, then; I worked for the post office for two years and if someone came up to us asking to add tracking to anything that wasn't EMS or GXE, we wouldn't even have the option. The systems at the post literally will not let that be put on at all, no matter what you did, but I know they have strange agreements with certain companies that allow them to get around regulations so that that shithole can make even more money. Amazon being the biggest one.

>> No.8547655

>>8547653
Word of advice, though; don't ever pay for tracking on first class domestic. You get it no matter what, even if you don't print online. It's the PID # on your receipt next to the item.

Ok, not cgl related but when I was into Ball jointed dolls I had a similar experience.
I did commissions where I would paint dolls and when I was first starting out a girl sent me some limited edition doll parts to paint. Her communication was great and it was the second time she had hired me.
so I have her items for about 3 weeks and I go to message her with some final photos for approval and confirm her address since she hadn't sent it to me and there was no return address on the box.
No reply so I try again a few days later, again nothing so I try finding ways to message her other places. After a month I open a problem transaction thread since the mods will flag her account and send her an email (which I didn't have).
I give up after a 6 weeks and the doll parts just sit in the box forgotten about.
Nearly a year later she messages me. I don't know whether to believe this story or not, but here's what she told me.
She had been kidnapped by human traffickers through the Internet some how (this was in 2007?) and had been separated from her family for months. Some how she was rescued and was reunited with her parents. She then had to undergo therapy or something and was completely banned from going online. She said she had finally convinced her mom to let her send me a message (while her mom was watching).
If the story is true I don't know how her mom ever let her give me her address, I actually think I had to ship it to an Aunt or something.

Not really cgl (though everyone I know that does this is part of one or the other) but I just can't buy being genderfluid.
I've read responses and heard explanations of people who say they are saying how it feels but just no. I simply refuse to believe one needs to switch between genders depending on how they feel, and that it isn't just being a special snowflake.

Being trans? Yeah I can see that, I understand why, I can sympathize. But genderfluid? No.

Not that I'd ever say this in public because I"d get murdered (socially) by everyone I know.

You know, that's just like being gay, trans or bi. You don't have to believe ir or even understand it. People will still feel how they feel and live their lives accordingly. It affects their life and not yours.

This sounds kinda hypocritical, since I cringe at trans women a lot (I think they will never be 100% women since they'll never have major female experiences). But I still think their can feel have they feel.

Any genderfluid people I've known in person have used the term to describe themselves when they're trying to figure themselves out and what feels right for them. I think a lot of people (who are actually gf and not jumping on a trend) use the term for that, so they're not confining themselves within one gender and feel freer to explore what feels more comfortable and natural for them. Even if they feel better staying gf, there's no harm really. The only thing that bothers me are the gf people who use two different names, one masculine one feminine or whatever, and get pissy when you use the wrong name without letting you know. That's just stupid and almost looking for someone to misgender/name them.

I basically can completely understand feeling that you're in the wrong body and such. Like if I was suddenly turned into a man by some weird magic and everybody treated me like a man I would still know that I am a woman.
But on the other hand I think that part of being a woman is also experiencing growing up as a woman with social standards, seeing and thinking about how women across the world are and live. And periods, pregnancy as well as child birth are things that definitely are part of being a woman. I'm not only talking about actually being a mother. The decision to not have kids, losing the ability to have children or just periods in general are things that in some way or another women all around the globe have in common.

But on the other hand trans woman experience a life of a woman who isn't accepted as such and this is something other women can't relate to. I guess I simply see them as other kinds of women.
Cringing might be to harsh, I simply feel uncomfortable talking about certain topics or doing things in their presence that usually every girl can relate to while I don't know if they can.

As far as I know no one ever contacted the owner back about the second doll.

Also there was once that an artist lost all contact with a customer, and then found out the customer had passed away and the family didn't want the doll things back. Weird situation to be in. I think she ended up auctioning it for charity or something.

i can understand this opinion. i myself certainly believe in nonbinary genders (agender and bigender specifically, not all that stargender kawaiiself garbage) because i've talked to actual nonbinary people who actually have gender dysphoria.
i'm really on the fence about genderfluidity as an actual identity (excluding "i wear boy's shirts and play video games so i'm a boy sometimes uwu") because dysphoria fluctuates and can fluctuate enough so that a person can be perfectly fine being seen as their assigned gender one moment and having crippling dysphoria the next. that doesn't make them have two genders that they switch between, just different amounts of dysphoria at any one time.

Genderfluid is a thing but it's something easier understood when you're older. Only good explanation of what genderfluid is came from a genderfluid person in their 40s that identifies as that since their 20s (Long before than tumblr and shit)

It's generally something very personal that varies from person to person. Even people who know they are genderfluid will have problem defining themselves. This person said that being honest and open about it to non-close people will eventually hurt you in the long road.

Also, genderfluid was first used by intersex people who had very un-defined genitals and were in some weird way of being raised 'bi-gender' which screwed up all the shit about gender they later on experienced with the world.

That being said just polite nod and continue on with life.

I'm with you there. I've always been "genderqueer" or a real tomboy with gender issues for as long as I can remember (I am talking about wanting male pronouns when I was in preschool and kindergarden and wishing to be male in the early part of my life). I met a girl kind of like me a while ago and it was really helpful to have someone in common.

Now she's hoped aboard the transtrender bandwagon and claims she has no gender or is genderqueer, when before she admitted to being kind of like what I described. She's gone full Kool-Aid Tumblr and I'm fumbling trying to learn to be more effeminate since I feel like I fit neither way. People like her infuriate me since she's gone full militant SJW fakeboi and rips apart anyone like you who doesn't understand/doesn't believe in it.

I feel like transtrenders are making what I think is an interesting thing to look into and seriously discover more about into a fucking piece of fashion. I actually love the concept of genders and transgender and always have, but Tumblr has made it a circus parade and I'm honestly depressed about it. I used to be so happy about this stuff and seeing it progress, but now I'm jaded because they're these narcissistic teens calling them faeself and junk.

I used to know people who were into this stuff in sort of a mild activist way, just want to learn about it. It was pre-tumblr and they felt so much more genuine than anything does now. Is there anyone who knew about this stuff pre-tumblr that kind of feels similar? Trans is just the new fashionable thing and I'm scared the movement is going to hurt itself when we get so many detransitioners. If you look up the hashtag on tumblr, there's already a ton.

International shipping is expensive.

Even going from New York state to Quebec, or Vancouver to Washington will easily cost 16 bucks for a small package, and by small package I mean a bubble mailer sized thing.

Theres also inherent risk of it being opened at customs, customs officers damaging it, and the general swapping of postal services which can obviously be hard on your package.

I dont sell CGL stuff but I do sell on eBay. I don't ship outside of Canada/USA. I've had people ask me for quotes for mailing shit to Brazil and I don't even respond because I don't want to deal with it.

Its too easy to go "I never got the package" especially for people internationally. "Item was damaged". I don't want to think people are scammers, but when your only reasonable option for making restitution with a buyer is
>Get them to ship it back and refund it
>Give partial discounts
>Or just straight up refund it

It becomes a huge pain in the ass. eBay/paypal can and will fuck you over at the claims center if they just decide they don't want to return the item to you and want a refund to boot.

I've lost items and my money because a buyer in Germany decided they were going to open a claim that they didn't get it, I used to include tracking in all international before I stopped. It didn't matter that it was marked as "delivered" because the buyer just says he never received it. Paypal takes your money and gives it back to the guy and he gets to keep your shit, and all you can do is leave him positive feedback.

So yeah, fuck selling internationally.

According to Bodyline they shippied it to the right address but somehow it didn't end up at my house. So of course I opened a claim as well.

Genderfluid here.

I'm genderfluid because I don't mentally fit my body. I have really bad dysphoria with my chest and always have done. I've always been a tomboy but I've always liked dressing up. I'm still struggling with my gender and I feel like I'm probably transmale, but honestly I have an easier ride in a female body presenting as a male rather than the other way around. I am a she and the pronoun has never bothered me, but I have really bad body dysphoria which is why I identify that way.

I cringe for all the 14 year olds that will have to take back coming out when they realise they're perfectly happy in their own skin and should enjoy what they want outside the realms of gender confinments. I'm a bit jealous of that security.

I always offer tracking on my packages, but I don't know how my postal system works. Normal shipping is expensive as it is, and tracking would be double the price and I have a hard time trying to sell anything with such steep shipping prices... My items are so friggin cheap, but the shipping quotes kill me. So I charge the cheaper rate, ship it as soon as the money is paid and tell them I spilled water on the tracking number or lost the slip of paper, ect. I am very convincing and they all end up consoling me and not to worry, they'll tell me as soon as the package arrives (I take photos and everything at the post office to prove I've sent it, everything bar the "tracking number" I don't have). Recently I was too exhausted to think of an excuse so I never messaged her with the tracking number. I avoided my messages for weeks and then finally checked...I guess she didn't care because I never had her chase me up for it or even confirmed she got her package and I never got a charge back sooooo....Yeah.

I've never had any scary experiences but I have had to deal with a lot of dickheads who feel entitled. After messaging this one guy a few times he sent me like this laundry list of questions, some were okay (what would you wear to a first date) and some were like ??? (what gift would you give me for a first date) And then when we planned to meet up he wanted to do it in a hotel lobby and have me give him boxers. I told him how weird and creepy that was especially since the whole point of the website is *I* get stuff and he gets to have sex, then he said "you sound difficult" lol wut?

Essentially, the first 2 times you meet up with the guy, do not have sex. If he discusses money up front without getting to know you first do not messages him. Always meet up at a public place like a coffee shop for the first meeting. Get the money (or gift since some of them are sensitive about cash and don't want to feel like they're paying a hooker) before hand. Also read the forums on the website, there's a lot of tips on there that really help.

Other than getting posted on BtB I don't think he was actively bullied out. That guy did a few inappropriate things, like showing his bra to different comm members, and acted weird around the underage members. At his age he should of been aware that hanging out with 15 year old as a guy in his twenties while wearing a dress is an odd thing to do. Things like showing his bra might have been more accepted in different circles he's in but it just doesn't fly in a lolita comm and he did it weirdly often (at least at 3 different meet ups). The community wouldn't have been as hard on him if he had apologized and stopped doing it but instead he continued and called us bullying elitists. I definitely find him very odd especially how he never improved.

The basic arrangement will be something along the lines of:

>get to know each other
>discuss budget
>plan times to meet
>get money/gifts/food/spa treatments/college tuition/whatever it is you need the money for and what he feels comfortable getting you
>go to hotel or his home if he's unmarried (a lot of them are married, just saying if that makes you uncomfortable)
>have sex
>rinse and repeat until either of you finds the arrangement inconvenient

And yeah platonic probs won't work unless you can find the suckers who don't want to meet you and just want to be financially dominated (google it if you're curious)

Tumblr general. A community who is adamant that beekeeping is slave labour and feeds their cats and dogs no meat will do their damn best to shove all the half-understood buzzwords down everyone else's throats relentlessly. Jfash is a pretty touchy topic with SJWs in general, but transtrenders always get a free pass because muh oppresshun. They then spam every social media outlet with rants about the dysphoria triggered by seeing the colour pink, and then add in twenty photosets of their new girly Jfash dresses. Yes I mad, I know someone like this IRL and it bugs the shit out of me.
