This is babby's first coord, I've already posted one in only black and white but I would like to try a red version too so I can get some versatility out of this JSK. The main thing I am unsure about is some of the colors, I am also considering doing a simple floral headdress over the hat options shown but I am probably going to buy something like those anyway just to have them if they work. I haven't picked a blouse yet because I wasn't sure whether a white one or a red bolero might be more appropriate, but I feel with the bolero I would need red shoes. Thoughts/criticism?

Am I loosing it, or did you not post this before asking the same thing? If I remember rightly, you were given some feedback too(?).

Anyway, if you wanna go super oldschool, try off-white frill knee or crew socks (depending on how long the OP is) and an off-white headdress with say, deep wine coloured roses on the sides (to match the OP). Pair with oldschool black shoes and bag. Wear a ringlet wig or curly/ ringlet bunches.

Another option is to do exactly as above but with a black colorway, you could even add long black lace bloomers.

Attaching a simple cross to the choker part could work too.

I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to coord this dress better! I didn't have time to order any tights/socks online, so I just used some normalfag ones (but at least they matched the blouse). Also, I had a bag with me in the same colour as the shoes. I wanted the bodyline shoes in dark red, but they're not going to get restocked, and I'm also concerned they might be too red for the dress but idk. Any suggestions?
(I know there's a self post thread, but I want coord help, so therefore I'll post here)

I honestly don't think the normalfag tights are an issue, especially as the jsk is so long. A delicate lace design pair of tights might be a nice option though, or lace ankle socks perhaps.

I'd actually be tempted to get a nice neutral dark brown pair of shoes and pair with a matching bag rather than try to find shoes in the perfect burgundy shade. You could even go with soft black shoes or a matching off-white, again using a bag to match.

I think the main thing that's making this fall a little flat is actually the hair arrangement, with such an elegant dress, you could really get away with an elegant, interesting updo or say, a vintage burgundy hat with ivory rose embellishments or something similar.

I see what you were going for with the socks, but they might not look good from a distance because yeah, they're constellations and there's stars on the dress but from afar they just look like weird zigzaggy lines. Every single coord I've seen with this dress is so heavy on navy, though. Including the one I made with mine, haha. It's getting a bit old but as you all can see, I myself am shit at coording so my opinion probably doesn't matter.

I'm a sucker for the mint/ pink color combo, hopefully it doesn't look too forced. I'd like to find mint tights that are more visually interesting than plain tights. Something like AP's Fantastic Lace-Up Tights, but hopefully less expensive. The person I bought this from provided detail shots that made it look like the dress has gold stripes in the fabric (hasn't arrived in the mail yet and I've never seen it in person), should I just incorporate that with jewelry or go for gold shoes as well? I guess I could also do ivory lace tights and mint shoes, but I don't own any mint shoes yet. And how many colors should be incorporated with the headwear? Is it fine if it's just white roses?

>> No.8531685

I'd skip the floral headpiece, I think the straw boater would be really cute with this and it goes better with your fruit theme than flowers would. It seems like these reds match but it can be hard to tell just from pictures. Maybe white tights with red fruit on them instead of black?

How long is the dress? I'd do peeking bloomers if it's short enough, maxipad head-dress, do long straight pigtails for a hair style, go with rocking horse shoes or some old school mary janes. Personally I'd stick to coording it with black with maybe a few touches of white in the socks and headdress.

I like the silver shoes but I'd go with quieter tights/socks, like less patterned, maybe in sax but probably in navy. Skip the headdress and go for something more delicate, also in silver. Sadly I don't have any bag recommendations, it seems like silver isn't as popular in lolita as gold is (yet)

Mint shoes are going to make this look much more balanced than gold ones would, anon. I'd look into buying some, honestly. I'd try to bring pink into the headwear with the white roses, too, although just white roses could be nice.

The lace on the bolero and the dress is white, right? So if you do go for lighter tights go with white instead of ivory.

If you have lighter yellow-brown shoes, but not shiny gold, I think it would look nicer. Definitely the coord on the right.
The issue with brown and black is the same issue with navy and black: if you aren't careful, you will look like you got dressed in the dark. That's why you may wish to up the contrast with a lighter brown shoe.
In addition, the shoes you currently have are really sweet for the coord. For classic, I really like the look of heeled oxfords/brogues, but anything a little more mature would really round out the coord.

Depends on the outfit. I definitely think the dress lends itself better to simpler, old-school style outfits so a black satchel would definitely be nice or possibly a coffin-shaped bag if you're going very goth.

>>8531781
I think this is better. I personally don't think that the navy tights will look unbalanced once you put everything on since Lost in Sea is a tiny bit longer than most dresses (even the short length is a couple inches longer than most standard knee length dresses, and the long is obviously...long), but if you're concerned about that at all perhaps a necklace that features the darker blue would help the balance.

>>8531673
If the gold is that subtle you probably want to go with mint or pink shoes. I can't find you mint tights that are patterned *and* cheaper, sadly...
My personal feeling would be no to white roses - looking at the photos they might be more of a soft/off white and if you want to focus on the mint and pink combo perhaps pink would be a better choice.
I would say - ivory tights if you have them already and they match the bolero and dress trim, pink or ivory shoes with mint bow/rose clips attached (Look on etsy for alligator-backed mint rose/flower hair clips, or actual shoe clips - they're like $5) and pink + mint hair roses with an updo, plus gold toned jewellery. This is a gorgeous dress though - I think it'll be very classy worn.

I think socks are often worth it for designs/colours that you can't find elsewhere, but I've never owned lolita brand tights so can't really say. Is the jsk the purple version you have in your collage? If so, I really wouldn't try to bring that midnight/ petrol blue shade into it.

As it stands, you have three non neutral colors (not including the gold on the tights) going on, the dusky midnight purple of the jsk, petrol blue in the book and embellishment on the blouse and then navy (xgold tights). Frankly, unless you try to bring in balance between the different blue/purple shades you have going on, it's likely going to look a bit of a mess.

Anyway, what about pic related anon? They even have a color variation called 'blue-purple' which looks pretty much like an exact match.

Also black tights don't have to be boring, especially is they have some kind of interesting branches/bramble type lace design, echoing the print.

This is my first coord, hopefully it's not a mess. The ivory and mint on the JSK are perfect matches for the barrette IRL even though the barrette looks way more yellow in this picture. Honestly, they both look yellow IRL, so I'm just going to coord with regular white because it matches the lace instead of trying to find perfect matches for that pale yellow. I could get the blouse bows in different colors but I think I'd rather just remove them so they don't factor into this coord. I really like the cape in the collage, but I hope the bear theme isn't too much of a stretch because there are some bear-shaped cookies on the print. Maybe a bear-themed bag would help? I haven't found any non-Rilakkuma ones yet, though. For legwear and shoes, is plain white tights and brown tea parties good enough? White tights sound fine but pretty plain. I think brown tea parties should be ok if they are a similar shade to the bag, otherwise could be too dark as the browns in the print are more beige-toned and lighter. I wonder whether tan or ivory shoes would work?

Swankiss has some pretty outrageous furry shoes, but the only thing about them that I think is interesting would be the fur.

If you're worried about the bear ears looking out of place you could ask Bunny House to make the caplet without the ears, unless you already own it with the ears. They are definitely higher quality. All brand-name tights I own are very thick and have good stretch, while replicas/cheap taobao brands rip within a wear or two, and even less if you got chubby thighs. If you have the option and love the design I say go with brand, but it's not necessary all the time.

I'd be tempted to keep it pretty simple - black tights or socks, sweet-classic black shoes, sweet-classic black bag and a big black hat with matching pink roses, finishing off with a black pendant that falls roughly between the two X corset laces on the bodice. I think it would give everything a cute but sophisticated twist. I think cramming in pinkxblack accessories etc with a jsk like this is just going to look awkward.

If what you're actually trying to do is 'bittersweet', i think there are more appropriate jsks around for that kinda look, that actually contain say, black and pink or whatever in the print.

Anon from mail thread here. I think now that you've realized that it's backwards, it should fit you correctly since everything will be in the right place.

Here are my suggestions for you and your first main piece (congrats!). I used items that can be found on Aliexpress/Ebay (let me know if you'd like links) if you haven't ventured onto Taobao yet. Also, these are good basics/staples to have too.

>Old-School
Coordinating it in this way is good for beginners since by nature it's pretty minimal.
>1. Long-sleeved white cotton blouse: A good basic to have. I chose one with a peter pan collar and little details to fit the lolita aesthetic.
>2. Lace-topped white over-knee or under-knee: You can wear them over flesh-colored tights if you want to hide your tattoos.
>3. White headdress: versatile for other coords. Using the bow from the dress is fine too, but I suggest all white since the print is so busy. For your hair, ringlets or curls work for this type of headwear. Avoid excessive volume.
>4. Plain black mary-janes OR white RHS: I actually like the idea of black with this for an old-school look. It's not acceptable in other styles though. The white RHS are a good choice too.
>5. White or black bag: Depending on which shoes you go with. I chose a simple, iconic heart bag.
>6. Parasol: Not required by any means, but it's a cute and useful accessory for meets.

Another is a sweet-classic hybrid
>1. White short-sleeved chiffon blouse: The short sleeves provide some interest to the shoulder area and the material is a good contrast from the cotton of the JSK
>2. White lace ankle socks: Again, paired with nude tights (dancer's tights work best to block scars/tattoos imo)
>3. Boater hat: You can pin the bow from the dress on it, lay a flower crown on top of it, basically customize it any way you want. Very versatile.
>4. Brown oxfords: gives a mature look.
>5. Letter bag: Here is where motifs come into play

> 1/2

>> No.8542994

>>8542982
>cont'd
>5. Wristwear: since your arms are bare. I chose these simple sock toppers (which is what wristcuffs actually are) since I hate bodyline's
>6. Parasol or shawl: The parasol works for either coord. Since you mentioned that you sewed, you could consider making a high-quality lace-tinged shawl which would tie in the theme of "maiden in the countryside corresponding through letters house on the prairie" sort of thing
>7. Accessories: Look for letter-shaped jewelry on Ebay/etsy/aliexpress. If you want brand, you can look through secondhand sales for some of AP's Victorian Letter jewelry. I could see a really cute detail like a wax stamp ring or a book-shaped locket being cute with this.

(Disclaimer: These are just my opinions and how I would coordinate this dress. I am an old fart old-school and classic lolita)

The shoes are a very yellowish gold indeed, but all those shades do not look that jarring IRL. If I wasn't in the middle of a move I would have taken pictures of the actual items instead of using Google ones, because the star bracelet, for example, is the one that is further off from matching everything else.

>>8542972
That's why I mentioned it in the text, the small stars all over the skirt are mint, and very noticeable in person. I feel like I have to incorporate it somewhere, and I figured my head would be the best place since my hair is very dark. They are the only item thats' in the mail, so I can't guarantee they won't be too bright, but the seller's picture made them look more muted, and more similar to the mint in the dress.

This is actually really cool. It's almost a military look isn't it? I think plainish mary janes or lace up short boots that aren't too sweet would go well. Plainer tights are also ok imo, but stripes or something in a more subdued palette (not stark black and white cheap ones, think black and grey). I like the idea of a maroon bag but the bow on the second one is quite soft/ feminine compared to the dress. Lastly, I think the outfit would go better with a bob or faux bob/ some sort of updo that fits with the hat. It's more of a wartime look. Caps and long hair look weird.

Using striped tights always makes me a little nervous. I feel like most people just write it off as being ita, even though stripes with a sailor theme would work.

I think it'd be nice in a kuro outfit with rectangle headdress or mini crown on top of looped pigtails, a peter pan collar blouse (I think a bolero will cover more of the details than a blouse), otk socks and chunky heels

>>8542371
You could get away with a bolero/cardigan with this, personally I'd go for a very simple high necked blouse or one where the neckline is completely hidden by the dress. I agree that it seems to be better suited to silver rather than gold accents

>>8543694
Yeah I'm not feeling the bolero. Red lipstick and a red clutch bag would be my preference, and a more structured, military-inspired jacket rather than the bolero.

Low bun/ pony sounds all right actually! Just more official than long flowing locks, yknow?
I think the problem with striped socks is they often don't match the outfit and they're a really bright contrasting colourway. Like stark black x white or red x white, etc. Connie from COF did this really great sailor coord with some, they were grey and black and they really made it. Meta's sailor and military series are great inspo and they like their striped socks, go for it!

Stupid coordinating question, but is it okay to coordinate a strawberry print with cherries?

I have a printed jsk that features strawberries (though they aren't the main theme) and I have a cute bolero that has embroidered cherries on it, but I don't know of it would be odd to mix cherries and strawberries.

not sure how I want to coord this as I'd like something a bit more on the elegant but still somewhat simple side. (and so less of the cutesy, really sweet type of marine accessories)

this is what I have so far for the basics of the coord, I'm just not sure what to do for accessories. I really like the first pair of socks (with the red background and fancier design) so I think I might go for those, or just some sort of lacey white tights. Two: I know I need wrist and hair accessories, any ideas?
Three: Can IW's Dobby OP be worn without a blouse? I can't think of what would work for this, but I do have an axes femme high collar blouse I could try to use.

What I know right off is that I need more poof, and my hair needs love. I was going to do a cascade of curls for a tea date with my mother, but I would love some wig recommendations for future coordinates.

Match the brown dress in your hair accessories so that it's clearly a deliberate choice of 2 browns. I would go with small bow clips or flowers rather than a lacy headdress or large headbow, if you get a beret I would try to get one that clearly matches either the dress brown or shoes, and pearl/brown bow detailing matching the other brown.
Wrist wise pearl bracelet is the obvious choice, or brown wrist cuffs with a pearl chain. I would try to match the dress brown rather than your bag and shoes.
Does the brown on the socks match either the dress or bag and shoes?

trying to figure out my halloween coord right now. won't be wearing the capelet always/might not even wear it all, put it there for good measure.

anyways, mostly looking for suggestions on jewelry/accessories! I don't want to go overboard with the bat references, so for the accessories I think I'd like to take ideas from the motif on the print and get stuff that looks like halloween candy/treats, gravestones, ghosts, witch hats, etc. I figure that I may just need to make some of my own stuff with polymer clay. the print features lolipops with cat ears, I could make a ring or brooch matching that. but if anyone has any links to some cute/quality halloween-y accessories it'd be much appreciated.

as for a bag, I think the easiest route is to go with one of those bat bags.

>what length/colour wig
This really depends on your face shape and colouring. I'd go milk tea brown or a rich chestnut brown, and a bob wig (curly or straight, both look nice)

>legwear
White on white polka dots? I think since the dress is so busy something smaller and more subtle, so flocked dot tights rather than massive spots.

>shoes
Red tea parties, t strap mary janes or heeled three strap ones.

>any head accessories
Beret or small headband with bow, choose either the red or blue

>>8555914
On the left: elegant, wintery hime. Updo, pearls, white fur capelet and muff, white lace tights, pink boots with white fur toppers.
On the right: I think old school is the right idea, but I'm not sure the long sleeves can be saved. I'd add white as a second colour and possibly sax accents rather than going pink from head to toe, so white otk lace socks, pink shoes, pink with white lace trim headbow with pigtails, white wrist cuffs with sax or pink bows, sax accents in jewellery and the bag.

>>8556794
I'm totally into navy x pastel at the moment but as luck had it couldn't find any pastel x gold accents dresses I liked, so how about brown? You might need to lose the beret though in favour of a brown hairbow, and add more gold in
