Exfoliate with sea salt and honey, cleanse, toner, moisturizer, color correcting primer, foundation, then cheeks, then eyes.

>What products are you using right now?
Homemade exfoliate, Clinique cleanser and toner, LUSH moisterizer, Clinique color corrector, Make up forever foundation, NARS blush and bronzer, Too Faced chocolate bar, Benefit eyeliner, Clinique mascara

>Holy grail products?
None yet as I'm still experimenting, but anything that takes the red out of my cheeks is a godsend.

I use a spoon to help me with my eyeliner, going to try using tape soon too.

QUICK QUESTION
when i used to apply eye makeup, i could smudge that shit on with a rake and besides looking like crap, my eyes could handle it with no problem.

now, if i apply eyeshadow to my lower lid at all, i have a 50 percent chance of irritating the shit out of my eyes and causing a watery-eyed smudgy mess. it usually doesn't happen immediately either, i will have been wearing eyeshadow for about 20 minutes before i notice it start to itch and water.
it doesn't matter what i apply it with, how clean my brushes are, or what products i use.

it's only been the last 2 years that this has been happening. i tend to avoid it by not putting anything at all on my lower lids, but the result makes me look a bit squinty. sometimes i can get around the problem by applying eyeshadow everywhere except the outer corners of my lower lids, but that looks dumb with darker shadows.

i miss big smokey eyes. what do

Boscia black thermal face cleanser, Boscia cleansing sponge, Vichy toner, Boscia black moisturizer. I use Smashbox primer, Kat Von D liquid foundation in light 42, Anastasia dip brow in granite, Kat Von D liquid lipstick in whatever colour, Kat Von D shade and light eyes/contour palette, Urban Decay Perversion mascara. If I get shiney I use Make Up Forever's HD powder.

I'm trying to step up my make-up game. I have a nice basic everyday make-up for work which includes a primer, liquid concealer for a base, powder make-up, liquid eyeliner, mascara, an eyebrow pencil and a light blush. I started using a fixing spray to fix ma make-up.
My make-up looks a little boring with lolita though and I have no clue about conturing or how to apply eyeshadow properly. Another problem is that I'm very pale and have a hard time finding make-up in my shade.

Usually just water to wash my face since I have super sensitive skin, Nivea Sensitive Day Cream and a little Benzoyl Peroxide on spots if they're really nasty (usually I only use this shit at night since it's a killer).

Everyday makeup: a cheap BB cream of which the name I can't remember rn, Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara, Mac blush, either Vaseline on the lips (a limited edition one with red tint) or No7 red lipstick.

Evening out/lolita: Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation, Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation in shade 15 as a concealor, random cheap powder to set, Mac blush, NARS Contour Blush as contour/highlight, Urban Decay Naked 2/3, Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in Caviar, same mascara as above, Mac, No.7 or Limecrime (I know, I bought it before I knew about the drama) lip colour.

You could be allergic to the eyeshadow, I had a similar problem with eyeliner. You can easily develop allergies over time to something, so try a non-allergenic all natural eyeshadow?

The skin around your eyes is very sensitive, so you have to be kind to it.

Another issue is you might of used too much and constantly got eyeshadow in your eye? It might sound obvious, but more abrasive and cheaper eyeshadows (more so ones with glitter) can be very problematic. Try using a shimmer instead of a glitter if you do, or use less shadow. Always apply a primer before using eyeshadow to keep it in place and hopefully out of your eyes.

If neither of those work then maybe look into creams that can be for lip, eye, and cheek?

My make-up routine varies depending on what I'm doing I will list my steps using dashes. Things with a * are steps that I do on special days or it's something I do just for maintenance
>What's your makeup routine?
-*I like to be super clean when I put on make-up, so I'll take a shower but normally I just wash my face.
*Face mask
*I pluck or trim my eye brows
-I put on my face lotion and let it dry a little then I put on primer and then some chapstick.
-Sometimes I put on concealer but I'll normally put on a liquid foundation and blend it with a beauty blender.
*I will sometimes use my cream sticks for highlight and countour.
-Set everything with my powder
-Eye use my eyebrow Kit to fill in my brows with my angled brush, then I go back in with my liquid foundation with a small concealer brush to clean up the lines. I use a little more powder to blend that shit in.
*Go in with my lighter powder to go over my highlight and then my dark powder to go back over my contour and then use a somewhat shimmery brown shadow as a bronzer. I have brown skin, so using the shit advertised as bronzers just aint cutting it.I do all this using a bronzer or contouring brush.
-Apply blush with my blush brush. Then I use my big ass powder brush to blend everything in. Make sure it's down my neck, my hairline isn't crazy. All that.
*-I do my eyeshadow and/or eyeliner. I use a pen usually for eyeliner and pencil for lower lash
-Curl my lashes and use mascara
*Fake lashes, then eyeliner again
-Lipstick and/or lipgloss or more chapstick
-Do any clean-ups and then I set with my setting mist. Set again with some hairspray if I want it to REALLY stick. Then I carry around extra chapstick, lipstick, and powder in my purse.

Back again, sorry for the wait. Try the stamp method, take whatever tool you're using and go along your eyelid making small imprints, then go back and connect the dots!

Another method is to not line above the lashes, but between, it's called tightlining and makes your lashes look very full!

I find it a lot easier to pull my eyelid towards my temple, making it tight, and doing my eyeliner.

If your eyelids are tapered, then it might be why it looks uneven still, consider cat eyes, kitty eyes, or owning the look to be fuller on the edge!

Still kind of a makeup noob, but I've been wearing eyeliner since 8th grade and the best one I've had so far is actually the revlon colorstay liquid liner. I have very oily everything. I've also tried the maybelline gel liner, and that shit lasted forever, but it also smudged and faded terribly on me. I use it for black lipstick now and that works well. The urban decay 24/7 pencil is beautifully dark, but will smudge and crease like a mofo if you have narrow eyelids. I use it for very thin lines on top of eyeshadow, or sometimes underneath liquid liner to darken the lashline area.

Anyone have any other oil control tips? I've used a whole travel bottle of the urban decay deslick spray and honestly I never think it actually helped. I have to blot about every 3 hours, even with the new foundations I'm testing. Maybe I just need to live with it.

>Things you wish you knew before, but know now?

Don't be afraid of blowing money on good makeup - you'll look much better both on your days off and looking more professional on work days.

On the flip side of the coin, name brands don't always do what they're told. Explore a bunch of options and don't sneer at drug store makeup.

Your mom/aunt/grandma is not always the best source of information, especially if she hasn't put makeup on in a decade. Explore more and find out what is best for you. My mom when I was 17 purchased me a bottle of Mary Kay liquid foundation that made me break out like whoa. Now she actually follows my makeup advice for things like foundation and bb creams.

And take off your makeup, preferably as soon as you get home.

Never put mascara on until you are done using all powder products, otherwise you get powder stuck to your lashes and just end up reapplying mascara anyways.
When contouring, never go from the side of your face outwards, look at how your face naturally is; the contour starts about an inch from the side and is actually an angle, not a line of shadow. Follow your natural face, not online guides.

Thick eyeliner seems to work for some but not for others.
Like you said, prominent eyebrows just draw attention to your eyes and can make you look really old/scary if you've got prominent eyes.
Also, make your brows follow the direction of the eye socket - if your eyes are slanted downwards, slightly arch them down. If they're slanted upwards, raise them. If your brows are straight and your eyes slant downwards it's just gonna create more space between your eye and eyebrow and look weird.

Conceal any dark circles and use matte neutral shadow in a lighter colour if you're going natural, or do whatever when you're going all out (seriously, I'd do all kinds of shit if I had eyes like yours) but DON'T line the crease/socket line or colour your entire eyelid.

IMO people with your eye shape tend to look really good with short hair or fun Mod-esque hairstyles.

The mineral veil is amazing though. Oh and oil blotting sheets.
>Any weird tricks you use?
I love baby lips mixed with moxie lip gloss. It's a subtle gradient effect, kinda larme-ish but works better with my skin tone.
>Things you wish you knew before, but know now?
SUN SCREEN. I just started using it on a daily basis, i'm hoping I don't pay for it later. And also the importance of eyebrows and how to pluck them without overdoing it..

So anyway any advice for bb creams for combination skins, for someone who's used to powder foundation?

Maybe stupid advice, but for foundation and stuff, I've always asked my mom what's worked for her, since we have similar skin types/colors. Plus as long as i use my own brush i can sample hers for free without the hassle of going into a store.

As far as things like eyeliner/lipstick go, just go into sephora or ulta or something and try stuff on, or ask an assistant to put it on you. It'll take putting on a few losers but you'll realize what you do and don't like soon.

Start with low-risk investments, like a nicer eyeliner and a lower-clump mascara. Buy missha perfect cover BB cream in #13 to serve as a foundation: korean makeup is paler and greyer.

A lot of high end makeup stores will let you test it out. Therefore you can check out how it looks on you and in various lighting and to see if it breaks you out or not. The store assistants + online reviews can help you narrow down the options.

I was in Korea on vacation and I found Dollywink lashes on sale for 50% off. I splurged and bought them since I’m normally too cheap for those but later I found a set of dates on the packaging that I figure are expiry dates? bb cream, eyebrows, concealer, dusty rose smoky eye, small wings with liquid liner, mascara, nude lip, maybe powder if I'm going to get sweaty

missha m perfect cover bb cream no. 13, covergirl concealer in porcelain, elf warm eyeshadow palette, wet n wild liquid liner, wet n wild lipstick in pinky nude

my bb cream, it's great because im ghost pale and it blocks them sunrays

im pretty broke, like extreme brokenness so I can't afford to get a decent brow pencil, so instead of doing nothing j fill them in with brown eyeshadow before I put on my bb cream and concealer and come back in to line my eyebrows with the bb cream and concealer. this isn't a new thing but it works well for me, since I'm so pale you can't even tell i lined them with any concealer

I hope this is the right thread, but I was wondering if any of you gulls might be able to help me..

I always thought I was a combination skin-type, because I have a very, very dry forehead (especially between my eyebrows and actually the skin where my eyebrows are is ALWAYS flaky and horrid, I get psoriasis sometimes so maybe thats it?) but after a solid hour or so of wearing makeup, even after priming and/or sealing my makeup with setting spray I can get 5-7 sheets full of oil blotted off my face. When I first wake up I'm oily as hell, during the day I'm normal bordering on dry. I don't know if it's the product I'm using or maybe I'm applying my makeup wrong but I'm sick of my makeup always looking cakey and oily and if it's not oily my skin is so flaky and dry and ugh. Sorry if this is worded poorly it's early in the morning here. Thanks in advance for any help, I'd kill to finally have decent skin.

Press them against your eyelid, as close to the roots of your eyelashes as possible. Good glue will keep them on for at least 16+ hours.
You can take them off straight away! It doesn't actually glue them on, it hardens into a tacky, rubber-like layer. You can just gently peel them off whenever - And if they're good lashes, you can peel the glue layer off and re-use them again.

BB cream shouldn't be replacing your daily moisturizer, it should be an extra moisturizing step.

Your product might be too old, or you might want something better anyway. I'm guessing it's drug store stuff? Look up foundations/ BB creams for oily skin, there is a whole internet at your fingertips, just start looking.
They aren't blackheads.
If you clean your face with an oil, mineral/coconut/etc then use a foam cleanser, followed by your moisturizing routine, then apply your sunscreen, apply a primer to make the application of your foundation smoother, you'll use less as well, which will help it not feel caked on. Less is always more, layers are always better than putting it on all at once.

For pencil eyeliner, I recommend NYX eyeliners because I've felt those are the only pencils eyeliners that won't actually smudge after a couple of hours. If you want to venture to liquid eyeliners, then I highly recommend felt tip eyeliner pens. Specifically Stila eyeliners and MadeYewLook's Night Owl eyeliner. Looking at your pic though it seems that you have deep set eyes and thick lids? Try going on the for a look that's soft overall because it seems like your eyes are dramatic all on their own. The last thing you should do is emphasis your arches. I think that'd really age you. Try something like Kristen Stewart or Natalie Portman.
For makeup I'd suggest a slight Smokey eye using brown liner. Use a light shimmer on the lid I think will give a natural effect while the dark areas conceal how large you're eyes are.

Don't waste your money on products you won't use often or will expire quickly (like mascara) you'll regret your purchases. Invest in a nice powder blush that works well with your skin tone or a neutral eyeshadow palette. As long as you keep your tools pretty clean, and store your makeup in a cool dry place powder products will last for years. Another option is to splurge on a really nice lipstick with pretty packaging that you'll use all the time. YSL and Dior both make really pretty and sheer lipsticks that are great for everyday. Chemical exfoliants, benzoyl peroxide and a retinoid if it helps you (they don't do shit for my acne but I'm trialling retinol and possibly tretinoin at some point for fine lines). Salicylic acid (bha) and glycolic acid (an aha). I use the Cosrx toner and a 15% glycolic acid cream on the general area and benzoyl peroxide 5% on active zits. But due to acne scarring I need really high coverage, and this method didn't give me that. Moving to the brush afterwards to go over those spots really did help, so I might go for a combination of fingers & brush in future. Thanks seagulls.

Primer is a used to seperate your skin from the makeup, it helps the pores not become clogged. There's also different types that can help with different issues, like redness will have a green primer, or swallow complexions will have purple. Primer helps foundation go on smooth and stay on longer since it's a barrier between your natural oils and the make up. There also tends to be an SPF added too.

Foundation covers blemishes and balances your complexion. It's used over primer.

I have a small emergency, gulls. What are your tricks for covering up post-sunburn?

I have really fair skin with a lot of small scars, but I'm pretty sunburned right now. I need to put on a full face tonight, but I just realized that my usual foundation is way too light for my burned skin.

I have a ton of different concealers and foundations laying around, but the only green and yellow I have is concealer. I don't think I can color correct my entire face with that.

Any ideas on what I can do for tonight? Right now, my last resort is a foundation two shades darker than my usual. It's close to my burned skin's color and covers up the redness, but it's too brown. It might be okay in dark, but I'm hoping there's a better option.
