Yes, it's not really a necessary thing, but if you're going to spend that much money on merch, you might as well keep it safe.

Pretty much, but it's not a fashion (nor is it a new concept), just a way to show off how much you love a character/series. There aren't really any set 'rules' to it, it really is just showing off how much money you're willing to spend on your favorite characters.

Itabags can focus on one waifu/husbando, OTPs, or various characters (which is done less). You get a bag and decorate it like crazy to show your love and support for said character and the clear bag is an option. Most add it in cause some badges/pins are event only or rare/hard to find items which can come off loose and ppl don't want to lose them so the clear bag is to prevent that and also to keep your bag, pins, keychains, etc clean.

I think depending how much merch/what type of merch you have, it might be better for you to go the canvas tote inside a huge clear tote route. I mostly have pins/charms so it''ll work for me. The color was a bit more neon than I expected but it's fine. There's a few random glue spots but nothing too bad. The inner pouch is like umbrella material but at least that means it should be easy to clean. It snaps out which is awesome. It has a really tiny inner zipper pocket. The stripe of leather around the upper part is also removable if you want, so that's cool. Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

A good Tecre button maker will cost you $300 or so but only a couple buttons might get messed up out of hundreds vs. a Badgeaminit or button maker toys will mess up over 50% of them.

I'm the anon who ordered the bag from toranoana.
The bag itself came stinking a lot like chemicals, but the smell was gone in a couple of minutes once outside the packe. It's also pretty big - for reference, the canvas bag is from society6.

Shine-wise, the bag is pretty good. For some reason it refuses to photopgrah without glare, but it person the bag inside it really visible.

Overall, I'd give it a 8/10 because it was rather expensive for what it is and only comes in brown.

Yeah I had this one too and it was terribad. First off make the mistake of getting a dark blue one when my husbando's stuff has a lot of black. Second the lining was shit and I was already at a con and had to scour a nearby Ross for a tote that could sub in.

I think you should just ask them to be polite. I'm sure they wouldn't care if it's for personal use only, but some might feel weird about it if they happened to see their art on a product without knowing about it beforehand, they could think it was being sold or something. Also, if you tell them then they might be able to do the commission in a way that's more suited to those uses.

Anon from the AA thread here. I was just wondering if I could ask a few questions about itabags, or rather making merch specifically for itabags.

What would be your preferred button or charm sizes.

For charms would you rather have something like the photo attached to charms or something simple like a bead chain?

What would you also like things like embroidered patches, wrist straps and lanyards?

For tote designs would it be preferred to leave one side a solid color/a simple pattern so you guys can add on whatever you want?

Is it okay to make buttons/pins using official artwork and anime screencaps if it isn't for sale?

My favorite character is insanely unpopular/ no merch aside from one poster and maybe one keychain, so I figured I'd just make my own, but he's a pain in the ass to draw and I have hundreds of screencaps of him. I'd imagine as long as I don't try selling them its all good, but I'd like cgl's opinion first.

I really love this concept. It reminds me of this hat (I guess you can call it an ita hat) that I've been cultivating since highschool. It got so bad I had to start a second hat to get the over spill of pins that could not fit on the original hat. But I like the ideal of a bag since I can wear it with a lot more outfits and is a useful thing I can put stuff inside. Also being able to put more then just pins on it.

Only problem is I don't like tote bags, I like back packs. I'm looking into finding a clear backpack. Do you think. This is acceptable? Yes I don't need a clear layer but fuck this is ten years worth of buttons for a series no ones sells stuff for anymore, I will cry if I lose one

A lot of the bags people are working on here sound like they're going to look bad. Part of what makes these appealing is the clean official art. A bunch of fanart keychains and pins are going to be so jumbled. Mixed series bags sound exactly like the ones cringy weebs have in highschool.

Fanart keychains can look nice, but you have to have a good eye. It's incredibly difficult to get official merch from exclusive events, which are usually the prime part of the itabag, so they have to sub in with something.

For example, pic related looks nice and would work great on a bag. You just have to not pick messy color palette buttons, which isn't hard since buttons are only so big.

I feel like if your character has it, you should try and get it. I do think a mix of official and fanart is fine, but getting exclusive merch is much more a part of what itabags are about.

I'm personally having a hard as fuck time getting exclusive pins that I really want, but it's also going to be super satisfying when I can actually get them and display them proudly.

If you are unlucky enough to like Makishima or Toudou, an exclusive with different art will set you back anywhere from 2000 to10,000 yens.

Another one that suffers from is this HxH. A non-exclusive keychain with Hisoka in will cost you around 1500 yens now, which is bullshit because the stickers, the mug and the pin all have the EXACT same art.

Ah, I see what you mean. There's some sort of allure to seeing someone be or do something horrible when you don't have to directly face it. And in fiction, where you can make literally everything pristine and perfect, there's something novel about seeing someone totally nasty or with traits unexpected from characters in that series. I guess mangaka don't always take into account that there really is an audience for everything, which is why when they make something they think is gross they get surprised when other people think it's interesting or alluring.

The thing is, if there is no merchandise of the character then fanmade is ok. If you have a recent character/series with available merch, it feels like it's "less" because you are unwilling to spend for your character.

I love the concept of itabags but I don't think I'll ever dare going out with one and finding merchandises of Apollo Justice (or any Ace Attorney character) seems impossible. If anyone finds a photo of an itabag with Ace Attorney characters and decides to post it I would love it, I didn't find anything on google.
