Can we talk about all things hime? Hime gyaru, hime lolita, etc etc. I've been getting into Himekaji lately.

Some questions to get it started.
>Who is your hime inspiration?
>Any good blogs or magazines?
>Where do you like to find your hime clothes?
>Do you wear it daily, or only on special occasions?
>How can you move towards a hime style of life?
>What do you like about hime?
>Is there a hime community of any kind out there?
>What do you think are the basic rules (of any particular hime related style)

>Who is your hime inspiration?
I don't really have one. I just like Liz Lisa and follow their official pages for inspiration. I guess the closest would be Emii? I am envious of her Liz Lisa wardrobe. I wonder how she affords it all. I know she tends to buy stuff towards the tail end of he season when sales start.

>Any good blogs or magazines?
Again, emiichan's blog is good if you want something in English. I don't really follow any magazines other than larme, which includes some himekaji brands.

>Where do you like to find your hime clothes?
Yahoo auctions and taobao. I might get some sale items from Liz Lisa's official affiliated web shops, but I haven't yet. I'm wary about English sites like kawaiigyarushop since they're not officially sanctioned by Liz Lisa. I don't want to pay real brand prices for taobao crap. At least now there's TOM.

>Do you wear it daily, or only on special occasions?
I currently only wear it for special occasions, but I'm hoping to move towards wearing himekaji and some larme stuff daily as my wardrobe grows. Right now I think, "oh, I should save that for a better day," and end up wearing something else. I really need to get over that. Washing machines exist for a reason.

>How can you move towards a hime style of life?
I hate life styling so fuck that. I've toyed with getting pink and floral curtains for my apartment maybe. But I don't want my room to end up like a hot pink floral mess like some gyaru rooms I've seen. Pic related.

>What do you like about hime?
I really only like himekaji. I'm honestly not into the princess aspect at all. I just like the fact that the clothes are super girly and feminine, and in particular I really like Liz Lisa's floral prints. I also having different options for silhouettes, which I wouldn't really get if I went the lolita route to femininity.

>Is there a hime community of any kind out there?
Just some on tumblr and blogs. Nothing like the lolita comm.

>What do you think are the basic rules (of any particular hime related style)
I only go himekaji, so:
- Curled/wavy hair is nearly always a must.
- Clothes should have some extra detailing to them like lace, corset lacing, delicate florals, ribbons/bows, etc, to push it out of normie fashion. I see some girls try to make coords out of normie fashion brands but they usually miss the mark because the detailing just isn't there. It's a difficult style to pull off without the main piece of your outfit being from a himekaji brand.
- Makeup is important. Admittedly I don't always do this when just going out and about in town, but my outfit always looks more put together with a complementary makeup style.

>I see some girls try to make coords out of normie fashion brands but they usually miss the mark because the detailing just isn't there.
I agree 100%. I think a good guideline is to have at least one major piece in each outfit which stands on its own as absolutely himekaji.

Do you know of any blogs other than Emiichan? I love her blog but I want others to follow as well and haven't been able to find others very easily.

Universal-doll, though they do a lot of oneegal rather than himekaji. I love iridescent doll, taskin-illusion and lolita-next-door (who despite her name does not wear lolita) are also good. Cute shanghai used to post some, but I think the blog is pretty much dead around now.

I /need/ more gyaru blogs of any kind, so long as they update at least once every two weeks. Please. Help.

I'm starting one and update about once a week, I have this dream of meeting other himekaji/gyaru/etc bloggers and becoming blog friends, so I want to find as many others as possible as well!
I posted my blog in the casual cute thread a little while ago though and I'm still a total beginner so I'm kind of embarrassed posting it again so soon but since it seems like such a thin community I think there's no room for being shy. I'm pj_hime on blogspot.
Do you think you'd ever want to start a blog?

Omg pls would love.
What's important is that when you post, have I guess at least 10 photos or 500 words. Quality>quantity, I'd rather follow people who have in-depth reviews and posts once a month than someone who posts two sentences a day.

Things I'd love to read and has proven successful: OOTDs (talk about the coord, how you made it, what you did that day and why you choose what you wore for activities), hauls (everyone does them, how do you stand out?), guides and DIY/how to, 2/3 part reviews (review it when you get it, a while later go back to the item, and then several months later pop back and see how you can recoordinate it).

I would make a blog, but I need a decent quality camera first. Can write, can not photograph.

Just looked at the blog, great job so far anon! Your wardrobe building post is great. You should post the how to for your off shoulder blouse, and for the second part of wardrobe building, either photograph with a mannequin or try to get some nicer looking hangers. Photo quality is nice, no yellows and lots of what I'm assuming is natural light. Your text is easy to digest so it's good to read.
The fact that you are working on a LL cosplay also makes me biased. But even so, it's cute and good job! If there's something to change, I suppose just figuring out in time the website format to make it more "you".

Yeah I don't have a quality camera yet... but I have enough natural light in my room during the day to counter that fact I guess. Huge windows are the only redeeming thing about my otherwise really shitty apartment. I would like to get a better camera in the future, though. For what it's worth, even with cell phone quality photos I'd follow you, anon. I only have two people on my blog feed and it's so lonely.

Thank you for your tips and feedback! I didn't think about doing multiple part reviews, that's a really good idea, especially if I'm pretty busy and don't have time to make anything new or go anywhere interesting. I'll try and post tutorials in the future, too, and perhaps also occasional lists to other tutorials I've enjoyed.
Maybe one of these days I'll make fancy princess hangers and make a tutorial out of it.

Since I'm still just getting started with fashion at all, let alone jfashion and himekaji, it'll take a bit to find my personal signature, but I'm excited to see where this experience takes me.

I've been getting some positive feedback here and it's exciting to me... I'm really thankful for every piece of advice.

I'm really happy someone made a thread for this style. I just ordered several items from Tokyo Kawaii Life, second hand, and DreamV. I was looking for a toned down style to wear on my off days, because lolita just isn't always feasible.

>> No.8543401

I'm seriously wanting to do a haul video, but I'm very amateur at making and editing videos. I actually bought it in 3 separate orders. The first order was a pair of boots and a dress the total was 9,100 yen (EMS shipping and tenso fees added 5,800 yen though). The second order I got a dress, a coat, and booties for 13,000 yen (and another 5,800 yen Tenso fee). Rakuten was very cheap though I got 3 dresses for $40 shipped. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be that expensive to ship just clothing items both of my packages where 4lbs each, and I've ordered from Angelic Pretty with Tenso before and my most expensive shipping fee has been 3,800 yen.

>> No.8543406

>>8543285
I forgot to mention about the second-hand dresses I got I picked up one dress from Liz Lisa from the Gyaru sales on FB for $40 shipped and a damaged dress on LM for $14 shipped. I'm noticing a trend with second-hand, however, most of it is almost as expensive as buying something from LL's sales page and most sellers are in the EU or in Japan. I don't have a problem buying from out of the country, but I'd rather just get new for the trouble of shipping.

sellers from the EU tend to overcharge a fuckton since they get taxed on customs so much, it's a big pain, but it also lets higher prices slide from other areas.

Yeah. I don't want to be a brand whore or anything but the basic look is very important, and I think in most cases you just aren't going to get that with Western clothes. I found one dress at a thrift store that doesn't look out of place next to my Liz Lisa, but that was a rare find.

Most of the "you can totally do himekaji with Western clothes!!!" posts I've seen have been some fluff about how omg easy it is to find himekaji clothes in Western stores since it's omgsocasual and the example posted is always some pink lace overlay dress from forever 21. Yeah no.....

You may have some trouble. Regular Japanese clothing tends to be even more unforgiving than lolita brands.

Maybe try separates like other anon said? You could go for nice skirts and then get blouses locally and modify them (adding lace, etc).

As for the short issue, safety shorts are your friend. You could even get a lace pair so that if they peek out under your dress or skirt, it looks like just part of the lace hem, like it was intentional.

That's a difficult body given gyaru silhouette, but it could work. Since most jfashion items are cut for the waist, am for puffier and fuller skirts (so not sukapans but ordinary skirts), especially midi style (Liz Lisa released quite a few last fall and this summer). How are your shoulders? I have a pear shape friend with nice shoulders, so she goes with off-shoulder tops to draw attention to the neck rather than her hips. Dutara is a good brand in that case.
