New Lolita General since old one is about to autosage. Old thread: >>8518645

How many main pieces do you have? How many are brand versus offbrand?

>> No.8521417

>>8521410
I have 11 brand dresses, 2 taobao, and 3 bodyline, so in total 16 dresses. I don't wear lolita much outside of cons right now, so I rarely wear the non-brand stuff.

>> No.8521427

>>8521410
God that set is so damn cute.

Right now I'm sitting at 23 dresses and three skirts. I want to sell some and weed down to my favorites, but it's tough, you know? I have three indie pieces, two handmade, and the rest of that bunch are brand.

>> No.8521434

what is with the trend of creating a new gen early? is it a need to be first or what?

>> No.8521436

>How many main pieces do you have? How many are brand versus offbrand?

I'm in the process of selling my more classic pieces, but I have 30 main pieces (skirts, jsks, ops), all brand. This includes my otome as well.

>> No.8521439

>>8521434
My guess is that it's because a lot of people who post at the end of a thread get ignored since not as many people see it, so people start new threads early in hopes of not having their convos falling on deaf ears.

In my experience my posts usually get ignored whether the thread is close to dying or not, lol.

>> No.8521445

>>8521439
given the propensity of lolitas to crave attention, that must be it.

but really, if you have something to say that you want a lot of discussion around, make a thread specifically for that. the gen is more for random things that don't deserve their own thread.

>> No.8521451

>>8521427
Oh god, isn't it? It's been my dream set since I first got into the fashion. Someday. Someday...

>>8521434
OP here, I don't really understand why anyone would feel the need to be the first to create a general discussion thread on an anonymous image board, so I doubt that's the cause for any supposed "trend". The old thread was less than 15 replies away from autosage and my experience is that when it's that close to the end, not a lot of people answer questions like the one I had, so I started a new one.

>> No.8521463

>>8521445
>given the propensity of lolitas to crave attention, that must be it.
Right, because wanting more than a couple people answer a question about themselves is totally a sign of extreme attention craving.

You guys really look for any excuse you can to call attentionwhore, don't you?

>> No.8521472

>>8521463
>You guys really look for any excuse you can to call attentionwhore, don't you?
It's because they themselves are attentionwhores and tell themselves it's everyone's motivation behind everything they do, so that they feel less bad about it.

Not saying that to be bitchy that's genuinely what it probably is. I used to be like this and I know a shit ton of people who still are. It's pretty transparent once you're aware of it.

>> No.8521478

>>8521410

>How many main pieces do you have?

about 26 main pieces. 4 of them are skirts. try to sell a bunch though.

>How many are brand versus offbrand?

18 brand versus 8 offbrand (indie, handmade, bodyline)

>> No.8521480

I want to add to OP by also asking what numbers you guys would consider as small vs medium vs large vs huge vs reconsider your life choices.

>> No.8521488

>The old thread was less than 15 replies away from autosage and my experience is that when it's that close to the end, not a lot of people answer questions like the one I had, so I started a new one.
why not make a new thread specifically for your question though?

>> No.8521497

This. Everyone here hates it when people who aren't them get attention, and will nitpick every bit of them to compensate for that. All the efames get hate boners on them for the dumbest reasons, Kate being a good example.

>> No.8521500

>>8521488
Because a) I didn't really think it needed one entirely devoted to it b) the old one has been growing fast and is currently dominated by discussion of the new Halloween prints (even though there's an entirely separate topic devoted to it), so there wasn't really a point in bringing up anything else to discuss, and c) because it was less than 15 replies away from autosage, and it's fine to start a new one at that point.

>> No.8521510

ugh otp dress is my dream dress/set, but I've given up on finding it

I have 12 brand dresses and 1 brand skirt. I sold off all my bodyline or gave it away. Most of my shoes and blouses are bodyline.

I didn't count the two things I'm trying to sell, which would raise it to 14 brand dresses. I would love to get more indie and taobao pieces.

True, but they had been discussing AatP Halloween prints in that thread and ended up discussing the exact same print the general was at the same time. It's not a big deal, I was just a little salty since people were bitching at me for starting a new thread what they consider too early, when part of my motivation was the old general being taken over by a discussion also happening in a different thread.

>> No.8521559

Don't have my spreadsheet, so can't do a precise breakdown right now, but around 90 main pieces. Mostly JSKs and OPs, a few skirts.

The mix of brand to off-brand is mostly brand, then taobao indie stuff, then handmade or other indie stuff. I don't have many coveted pieces though, so I wouldn't say I have an "awesome" wardrobe, just big due to having been into lolita for a decade, and not being good about selling regularly. I'm actually in the process of cutting down/selling things I don't wear anymore, but I've been really busy, so I haven't had time to sit down and put it all on LM yet.

Most desirable pieces I have are probably Claudia OP set and Elizabeth JSK II, but also have the first release Vampire Requiem skirt, and first release Midnight Summer's Dream skirt.

>> No.8521564

>>8521410
Just bought my first main piece, a JSK. It's BTSSB in good condition secondhand but only set me back 100$ including shipping. It's really exciting but I have no idea when I can actually wear it as there are no comms accessible to me.

>the old general being taken over by a discussion also happening in a different thread.
that is a great opportunity to link to that thread and say, "lots of discussion about this happening over here"

honestly, i think people can pick up on thay weird sort of ulterior motive sometimes. it puts people on edge so just be upfront.

>> No.8521571

>>8521410
I have about 9 or 10 main pieces right now I think.
As of right now in my wardrobe I've managed to sell off/give away all my offbrand and taobao except for 2 blouses and my shoes. Working on purging those as well as things show up on secondhand sales to replace them.

I did have one infanta OP I'm holding onto, but not for lolita so I don't count it in my wardrobe.

>le brandwhore

4 brand OPs, 7 brand JSKs, 4 brand skirts. 3 non brand jsks (Haenuli), 1 non brand OP (Ista Mori), 2 non brand skirts (bodyline).

I like having some non brand skirts incase I want to do something fairly casual or potentially messy.

It really doesn't look like much when they're all together in a closet. If you have 50+ main pieces, you could probably have a decent idea of what it looks like. I have an extra bedroom that I dedicated to weeaboo shit like anime figures, my manga collection, random cute Japanese things, etc. It has a walk-in closet the size of a small bedroom that fits most of my wardrobe (about 220 main pieces and all my side pieces) and I keep the rest in my bedroom closet.

17 main pieces, they're about 60% brand.

Yeah, I guess it's just a matter of perspective. When I first started, I imagined 5 to take up the size 200 takes up, so to me it doesn't seem that space taking relatively.

... you are the fourth person to ask me this question. The answer is not on the ground, but on the bed, yes. Sometimes I pile a bunch of them on top of myself.

>> No.8521652

I meant relatively to what people usually imagine. When I first started collecting, I imagined 50 to take up the space 200 takes up, and in general that seems to be how a lot of people are.

... you are the fourth person to ask me this question. The answer is not on the ground, but on the bed, yes. Sometimes I pile a bunch of them on top of myself. For the less expensive/rare pieces, I will occasionally pile them on top of my dogs or cat until just their head is poking out.

What's the texture like for DDC's fabric? I just passed a girl in the black colourway a couple minutes ago and the fabric looked really coarse, like borderline upholstery fabric coarse. I'm guessing it was a replica, otherwise DDC is really underwhelming in person.

>> No.8521684

Yeah, I fully admit that I bought a lot of super sought after pieces that I liked a lot, but wouldn't have bought if they weren't super rare because I approached lolita more as a collector than a wearer and like being the boss bitch in my comm. I want to get it down to half or less, but I know how I am and if I did it gradually, I would just end up buying more shit and slowing it down. It's much easier to just dedicate the whole week to taking pictures and listing everything on LM or LJ.

I'm really not looking forward to processing that many sales at once, though. I'm going to say in the listing that getting everything shipped out will span over about a month, but still.

it was really fun last year. there were some problems with the venue, but the fashion show was gorgeous, everyone was friendly (even the black firefighter's association the hotel double-booked!), and you could tell all the panels and events were put on by people who cared about alternative fashion and lolita.

the venue problems might be resolved because of the new location. it's only the second year but they seem to implementing a lot of feedback they got the first year.

they have mostly Western brands scheduled so far, but Simplicity is a sponsor and they have Rasputina performing. so far i think the only Japanese brands are Triple Fortune and Kokokim.

(if you register, you can put in a request directly to 3F by filling out a poll on the RC website, then if the poll didn't let you specify what you want you can comment on the blog post and they will pass it on to them. unlike the cover contest, you need a registration # to do this though.)

pic related will be exhibiting this year. i bet they are pricey but goddamn i want to touch one of these dresses.

her art blog is under lindatea. she is promoting other things, so i wonder why not this? tried to do an ask but can't without a tumblr account.

i might have to be the bitch who politely requests the winning entry (if staff does go by votes) be cleaned up to look more professional. a lot of people have basic photoshop skills, even if they can't make art themselves.

the staff should also easily be able to tell if the votes are coming from actual attendees or not, since you need a Facebook to vote, so if it is a case of "fowl" play they might be smart enough to catch it.
