I slept fifteen hours last night oh my god what am I doing with my life.
I don't have the con flu yet but I did manage to fuck up my foot by stepping on a gd needle because my cat is an asshole and were playing with my pin cushion and left it right by the edge of the bed. This is the same cat that will pull pins out of the hems of anything on my dress form with her mouth and leave them scattered on the floor for me to step on.
I have maybe like five pictures to dump but I'll dump what I can.

I was supposed to work today but our census on my unit at the hospital was low so they told me to stay home and not get overtime. However I had gone to sleep at 9 so that I could wake up at 5:30, and then I went back to sleep til like noon. I feel so lazy but also so well rested.

Um sorry but a lot of stuff went wrong during the con and sorry that you can't take criticism from the people who paid to go to your convention so instead you spew bullshit like "let's see yOU do it!!1!!!" So many things opened up late (dealer's room, video game room, maid cafe), many of the lines were disorganized with staffers only shouting "get in single file!" without actually helping move people around OR being grossly handsy as hell. Also, the staff's demeanor was generally pretty rude. You guys need to learn to ask, "Hi, could I please see your badge? Thank you!" instead of "HEY WHERE'S YOUR BADGE" and grabbing someone. And what the fuck was with the 18+ wristband line being closed until 4 pm? Seriously? You guys were so unorganized, which there's no excuse for when you have so many fewer attendees to take care of. For being such an old con, too, I'm thoroughly disappointed that there were as many hiccups as there were.

Ota has been disorganized for the 1.5 decades I've been going to it and all they do is raise the price. I had a good time this year because it seemed like there were 5k+ fewer people than last year. Also, I forgot to reg because of some bullshit and when I picked my badge up on Friday it took 5 minutes, which is in-fucking-sane. In years past, I've waited an upwards of 5-6 hours when I forgot to pre-reg.

The people asking for badges was much better this year than in years past, though I had a sincere TOP KEK when some kid yelled at us to stop as we were LEAVING the con center. She yelled "badges!?" at us and we started laughing hysterically. She then went and ran to one of the BCC staff and said we were refusing to show badges. I wasn't able to post on the first con-depression thread. I needed 24 hours to get myself settled in and back to my normal routine. I did met with Bane at the con and at the Tavern. He told me saw me a few years ago. We talked a bit about some things, and then I head off because I'm a cosplaying hall photographer. (Besides I can't interact with people if they already gotten to their own groups, although I was able to speak about stuff if I knew about them.)

Also anon is correct that AC is the dumping ground for unwanted staff so you tend to get the worst of the worst. Quite a few anime cons have charters that are actually variations on the original Otakon corporate structure, being based on legal frameworks that Otakorp provided to them. Senior Otakon members often served on the staff of those cons during their first few years, to help them get off the ground.

It might be a bit much to think of them as "Children of Otakon", but the old-timers really did want to leave a lasting imprint on the development of anime convention culture in the US, and I think they have (even if AnimeExpo eventually won the Con Wars).

Sorry for the delay guys. Been to busy to log on and describe the lame asses that are 1449. No seriously, thats how boring this run was and how much overhype they are, I forgot to come back.

Anyway, Saturday night we are getting ready and one of the MK's suggests we take the 21 foot RHI's to sneak up on them rather then our 41 footer that they would see coming from a mile away. So we are like yeeeeeeeeaaaaah stealth raid, slam our boots on the deck and scare the mother fuckers so they start spilling shit everywhere and are too panic to hide any evidence. So we roll up and scope the area for a little and the new boot we got just last week points out this skinny looking fuck wearing anime shirt getting on a boat. I'm like, in my 3 years at this station, no self respecting boat traveling person gets on a boat this late at night wearing an anime shirt, so that has to be it. Plus I had their nice selfie that I am so grateful that they posted so I could ident them faster.

So give the engine a quick boost then cut it and let the momentum push us up to their boat all silent. I'm like, dude check the port hole first to make sure these dumb fucks don't have any weapons and start shooting at us when we hit their deck. MK gets up and looks in and he's like "dude.....you are not going to like this" and I'm thinking "oh they must be doing some heavy shit". I get up the hole and look in and these fuckers are not even partying. One of them us just sitting on the bench tapping away on his phone, two are sitting at the table playing spades, texas hold em i don't know what the fuck. The other is this scrawny looking black guy sitting with this chick in a kigurumi. She's looking hella annoyed and he keeps pouring her cheap ass wine. But heres the kicker, she aient drinking it. He keeps trying to get her to drink it but ends up drinking it himself. I'm like telling my crew to duck and don't move as we hear them come up on deck. He's whining like a little bitch as she gets back on the dock and leaves. Honestly I think a lot of the female staffers start power tripping really hard over nothing at all and they decide to start making up rules as they go, Saturday Night in the Artist Alley one of them started yelling at me to leave because "the alley was closing in 5 minutes at 10" when it was actually open until 11, and on top of it I had an AA flag so I was allowed to be in there after closing. The worst part is I could of prevented this if I had actually looked at the box instead of just paying for it then throwing it in my bag. I didn't notice that there was a sticker that says that it does not include gum which all the figures are suppose to come with until after I got out of the convention. The color is off too with having only red stopped sleeves and a orange striped body where the whole figure is suppose to be dark red stripped.

The plastic they used was extremely cheap too. I was able to easily bend and wrap its legs around each other before they quickly broke off. At least I only paid $8 for it, I guess.

Do you still remember the name of the booth? Might want to report it to Ota staff. I worked as a dealer back in 2012 and there were staff checking every dealer booth for bootlegs. No, I don't remember the name of the booth. I do remember that the seller was just one lady, or at least I think t was just her because I didn't see anyone else selling stuff from her booth. I remember she was selling a lot of the Super One Piece Styling figure series all for cheap for $8 which was why I fell for it since all the other dealers were selling their's for $12. I think her booth was across from some goggle booth and she wasn't associated with a company or store.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn at the stadiums this year. It's not bad, but the hotel staff really doesn't care about you too much. Also it's noisy as fuck if you actually want to sleep at any time and the shuttle stops running at 8 on Friday.

Got a room at the Holiday Inn. No idea what the difference is between all the hotels so I just went for whatever was cheap and knew wasn't going to be horrible.

I'm going because I haven't missed an Otakon since 2006. I realize how far the con has fallen but I still have fun at the seagull meetups at the very least. Those meetups and spending time with you guys really is worth the price.

That and 2016 is the finale for Otakon for me. Its a good way to say goodbye to my young adult life. I'm getting older and I need to start thinking about settling down and focusing on career.

The guy I worked with on it was terribly unorganized, their artwork was set up all wrong, they had no idea what they were doing and were REALLY late getting shit together. There were a good handful of reason why I left early saturday. The moment I walked down stairs halfassly playing Chinese porn, about 2/3s of the crowd left. After a game of pool the idea of boat hunting was proposed and I simply went "fuck it lezgo". I didn't really paid attention who was upstairs but told /fit/MC and his friends I'll see em at katsu. We walked roughly 5 blocks into the rich side of the neighborhood, saw the wheel statue/took pictures and ultimately decided to go back after speakin with a drunk local that hit on us crossplayers and gave us an idea where the dock would be at. Personally, I thought the adventure was nice and my night didn't end there. After meeting back up with my roomies we restocked on drinks and went back to the con. I guess because of how late it was it felt fairly dead, was also mad that the game room closed right when I got there. That was when I regrouped with the surviving bat group and walked around till we all went our separate ways at subway. After that is all a blur unfortunately.

Luckily, with what I have planned for katsu u won't have to worry about that stupid noon checkout hangover.
