Seems the old thread's autosaged.

Talk about wigs! Suggestions, help, crappy wigs, amazing wigs, cosplay, lolita, all of that.

So let's start off with some help. I need two Ivankov from One Piece wigs, preferably from a site that does rushed orders and aren't too pricey (since the Australian dollar is crazy weak).

I bought a couple from eBay, but unfortunately and unsurprisingly they were pieces of crap which were thin as hell and you can easily see the wefts. Anyone got any sites which are good for afros?

Is it frowned upon to wear a darker wig with a lighter outfit? I have a light brown wig that I'd like to wear with a white and mint outfit, but I wonder if it's too dark for the coord.

>> No.8498579

>>8498543
This would probably be better posted in the coord help thread, but for what it's worth I wear mostly light pinks and creams and the wig I use is my natural hair colour (dark brown/black) and I haven't gotten any complaints.

Does anyone know where I can buy a good oldschool style ringlet wig other than bodyline? I have two from bodyline, but the newer one just looks crappy compared to the old one. GLW's ringlet wig is ugly as heck, and I've checked ebay, etsy, lockshop, l-email wigs, lapin d'or since they used to do lovely ringlet wigs in the oldschool days, and arda wigs, but I couldn't find anything.

I'm in the planning stages of a Rose Quartz cosplay. I've been watching and learning, and while I feel certain I can do the dress exactly as it should be, but I've not done much with wigs besides curling them and trimming bangs. I've read tons of tutorials and know the processes, but my fingers have never done them so I'm a little nervous. So here's my game plan, tell me what you think:

- I like Roses hair in some of the more recent episodes more than I do in her early sketches. It seems a little more realistic? So I'm going off the picture on the right in pic related more so than the left.
- I want to do tube curls mixed with regular curls
-I'll be using Arda's Bubblegum pink or Rose pink
-I'm debating between using a Luthien or a Delilah wig as a base. I'm leaning towards Delilah because I want to have a couple longer curls but it doesn't look like they have the colors I want in stock?
- To get fullness of the curls in the sides and back I had two ideas. One would be to just get wefts, curl them, and sew them in. The other was inspired by someone else, who had used pony tail clip ins and curled them, which gave a lot more volume
- I want to top the whole thing off with a half wig, like a hime bump. I considered ordering one from somewhere else but I'm worried about the colors not matching and I want a lot of volume so I was thinking of using a Malinda and lighly curling the longer parts. Attaching it is the part where I'm really not sure, though. I was thinking if I used the pony clips, there would be enough volume around the top to just sew the front of the Malinda behind the bangs and fit the wig part over the tops of the clips. If I sew in the wefts, I was thinking of attaching a foam dome to the top back of the wig, sewing the front of the Malinda behind the bangs and placing it over the foam dome?

I have no clue if what I'm saying is a good idea or makes sense. I know I should probably commission this thing, but I really want to try my hand at it.

I am going to be cosplaying Medic from Kamen Rider Drive and I finally got a full back shot of her complicated updo.

I was going to buy a wig and take it to a professional stylist to get done, but I'm at a loss as to how long the wig should be and what exactly to tell her (other than show her pictures)

Can anyone help me out here?

Anon I recommend you buy a shitty wig off ebay or taobao and practice anything you're worried about. Then you can move to your main wig. Your process so far sounds logical. Best of luck!

I cosplayed Ivankov earlier this year and ended up having to get a wig last minute from a local party store (it actually turned out pretty well despite feeling like clown pubes). Arda also has a really nice afro wig that they're discontinuing, so maybe check them out. The shipping would be pretty crazy though.

For me, I learned spiking a lot just by practice. Get a decent wig and spike it, wash it, spike it again. Try hairspray, hair glue, snipping the tips of spikes to make them perfect.

>> No.8499742

>>8499665
That sounds like a good idea, thanks!

>> No.8499992

>>8499742
No problem. Another few tips: try splitting the hair into sections and deciding the lengths of those, so if the spikes in the middle of the head are longer than the bangs then trim accordingly. Also for mega gravity defying bangs try to put lots of hairspray at the roots of the hair and very little at the ends if possible, this keeps it from getting to heavy. Also if you like very defined spikes, when you put glue or gel on the tips give them a slight twist and it looks much better. I don't remember what Arda covered in their tutorial though

Anyone know where to get decent lace fronts other than Arda? Their lace really irritates my skin.

>>8499300
>>8499304
Since she has that big part down the middle your options are limited. Probably a Leia from Arda would work, you can always cut it as needed. They look like french pigtail braids that are... curled underneath somehow? Not sure.

So I'm having trouble picking out a wig for this character. I'm thinking of going with a Venus wig from Arda but I'm not sure exactly what shade of blonde to go with (maybe pale blonde?). Do you think it'd be acceptable to go a few shades darker for Sakura Kinomoto's hair?

The color it is pretty much matches my skin so I was hoping to go a more darker brown - a little less than natural black - to compliment my shade. I tried going brighter (like manga ver. Sakura) but learned the hard way that blond-ish/light colored wigs don't look right on me unless I'm doing silver.

So, darker? Will the color just not matter if everything else looks good?

>> No.8501456

slightly darker will be fine if you skin is darker, because her hair doesn't match your skin so if you can keep it separate on yourself that's good too.

Don't do Arda. Because of the coarse hair (for spiking), long wigs tangle like hell and you'll want to throw it out.
Check out Epic Cosplay Wigs or L-email (wigsupplier) instead. I'd help find a color if I was close to a computer.

Agreeing with other anon, using Arda for long wigs is hell unless you're really good with detangling and stock up on silicon spray. I second Epic Cosplay, plus they have a few shades of blonde. They have a peachy blonde that matches the tint her hair has in the anime pretty well; If that's not your style, their natural blonde is pretty nice.

I was wondering if anyone had advice or information on cosplay wigs vs Lolita wigs. What shops cater better to one type or another? Are certain wig types better for cosplay and worse for Lolita?

Also this is a noon question that I have researched somewhat, but the ever-popular straight-across-the-forehead bangs don't really flatter my rounded heart face shape. Are there other ways to cut them that would look a little nicer, or am I forced to forever be swept-to-the-side-chan?

I'm looking for a light blonde ponytail wig without bangs, preferably an actual ponytail wig and not a short wig + clip-on, but it can work.

I have a very small head (taobao wigs sometimes are too big on me) so Arda and Epic cosplay is out of the question for me.
