8459101 No.8459101 [Reply] [Original]

Snagged this skirt up at the Starry Petals booth at AX, apparently it's from the plus-size Japanese store called smileland. I know it's just a skirt but the design is lolita-esque enough I'd say. Only problem is there's wayy too many colors involved as it's meant to be designed like a quilt so it's gonna be a bitch to coord! Any chance of any sweet-casual coords with this, or even an otome-kei coord?

Honestly feel like you almost have to be a troll at this point.
Most brands in Japan aren't "x-type" or "y-type" brands. Hell, even Wonder Rocket, which most people refer to as a mori brand, sells more trendy normalfag shit than mori stuff anymore.
Franche Lippe sells some otome-esque stuff but is mostly just cute/creative clothing that falls into the general japanese normalfag fashion spectrum, yes.
As for why it was at some random person's "Lolita Booth," probably so they could pass it off on some dumb newfag like you.

(Apparently not THAT well versed since I figured any design that has a loli-like aesthetic and can fit a petti could maybe work as lolita)

Fairy-kei and otome I'm pretty much a noob at and have only recently begun to dip my toes into those styles, which was why I started this thread in the first place asking if this skirt was geared more towards otome style, cause I actually did have the feeling that it wasn't going to be very loliable.

Well if you 'have tons' of burando, hold this up to your closet and ask yourself 'what does this match?'
The answer will be 'nothing'. You bought an odd skirt, it's evidently an overpriced Japanese brand of normalfag wear and it's not Loliable. It's too busy and juvenile for Otome. It's not alt. fashion.

Anons probably can't help you coordinate it simply because none of us would buy or wear something like this so no need to be rude.
Also the center seam looks wonky and patterns don't match so it's badly designed as well.

I'll take a stab at coordinating it cute and casual. Get a scoop-neck t-shirt or tank/beater in one of the colors on the skirt, pick the one most flattering to your face and hair. Layer a white button-down shirt over that, untucked or tied at the waist, sleeves rolled. Add plain Capri leggings under the skirt in a second color from the print. Wear white platform creepers with socks in a 3rd color or white chunky platform sandals. Add all 3 colors in small bows, barrettes, bobby pins etc to your hair or pins to the white shirt but not overboard like decora. Paint your nails in the 3 colors plus white. Add face gems in the leggings color. Make a simple multi-cord necklace using the skirt colors. Stamp or paint a white canvas tote with your initial inside a square in the shirt/leggings colors. Add a bag charm using one of the skirt motifs, alligator, umbrella, whale, deer etc. Thats the best I can think of to use the skirt in a creative, colorful way.

>>8459564
It did but I was so intimidated by the array of colors on the skirt, I wanted to make sure to ask here first, just to double check. Like I've said, I don't have experience coording something so busy and multi-colored.

>>8459101
But seriously if you really want to wear it then imo you'd be better off going for a simple coord.

A light pink blouse or white would be cute, maybe one with a peter pan collar.
I'd go for white socks, either ankle or knee length.
Tea parties in either pink or maybe a blue
Cardigan/bolero
Headbow

You could use any of these in whichever prominent colour you want to go for but try and balance it out on the top and the bottom. I wouldn't use too many as the skirt is busy on it's own
The colours I would focus on would be the white, blue and pink. They seem the easiest to coord with

I don't know if that's any help but it's the best I could think of for now

You're best bet would to just throw on random items that were sold at the Trash booth and call it a day.

You got scammed hard out of your money from a company that clearly doesn't know what they are doing. What the fuck is your damage? Actually I could say that for most this thread. This is so stupid and overblown, but when is lolita fashion ever not.

That's a really cute skirt, OP! I was actually going to say, wtf kind of company prices something sort of quasi otome-kei at $200? The only thing that came to mind was Franche Lippee, and, lo and behold, it's Franche Lippee!

They don't seem to get too much attention in the lolita community, since they're not really otome nor lolita. It's kind of a nice j-fashion casual brand that's very otome/lolita feeling sometimes. Some of their stuff can even feel mori girl.

Here's a picture I found for you since I think everyone's hating on it a bit too much! It's called the "Puzzle Skirt" from what I found. I don't think it looks bad at all from afar and the print is pretty muted.

Like I said, I don't know what everyone's so angry about. It's not kawaii desu lolita fashion or one of the few otome-kei brands out there, therefore it's evil or something. Sometimes there's just nice, casual j-fash brands that don't fit into any "kei" style.
