Worst horror is when normie try to hand you their babies/young children. Why the fuck would you ever do that?

>be very nervous handling small creatures I'm not normally around like babies and tiny dogs, scared I'll hurt them accidentally
>cosplaying Ariel in pink ball gown
>random normie mom comes over and shoves her infant in my arms
>literally only held a baby maybe once before
>baby is so small it almost looks sick
>"we just got her from the hospital this morning!"
>and you brought it to a convention?!
>mom takes picture and laughs with her normie friend about how uncomfortable I look
>make a weak joke about how I'm used to guppies
>finally relieved of baby, visibly shaking for a few minutes after they're gone

Just...why? This bitch didn't even ask, just thrust the child at me. It seems so stupid to trust a stranger with an infant when you don't know if they'll drop it on accident or something.

I'm so happy I can share animu with my SO. I wish you can find someone to share it with.

We also have some differences in our anime taste, so we have to find a common ground.
Maybe try to learn what kind of shows your gf likes (for example, SciFi), or maybe she is interested in certain arguments(lets say AI). Then find the best anime in the matter, not the one you like, but the top best (find classics).
Maybe you can watch normie things with her and one day watch something different. You can always tell her how you feel and that you would like to share it, but if she just doesn't want, respect her and keep watching your stuff.

You can also try Facebook groups, maybe find an internet community. I have found one for Lolita, and since then I cannot understand why I didn't do it before.

For your GF, try anime with unusual art styles? Maybe stuff like Kaiba? You could also do Tiger and Bunny, since that one tends to get the "looks western" reaction from many, plus the whole superhero thing makes it more accessible to normies. Other good "entry" anime could be sports series if any of your friends enjoy sports (Baby Steps and Haikyuu are particularly good), or if they're into cooking show them Yakitate Japan. There's also silly cutesy feel-good stuff like Ore Monogotari and, with a slight fantasy twist, Yamada and the Seven Witches. Honestly it really just depends on what they're into to begin with. If they like mysteries show them Detective Conan, drama fans might enjoy MushiShi, etc.

Though I know TTGL and Black Lagoon seem like good entry level anime series, they kind of aren't. None of the characters are especially relatable for people not used to anime archetypes, and some people unaccustomed to anime will find stuff like a 14yo with her boobs hanging out really disturbing, etc.

tl;dr go for "fun and relatable" over "cool" if you want to introduce anyone to anime, since people in different hobbies/lifestyles often have wildly different ideas of what is cool.

As others have pointed out, those series are really not great for introducing someone to anime. They're too ANIME, if you know what I mean. I've been watching anime since I was a young kid, and when watching TTGL even I thought "whoa this is ultra anime-y".

My boyfriend had zero knowledge of anime before meeting me. He fell in love with Spirited Away the first time we watched it together and has enjoyed several other Studio Ghibli films since. Very easy intro stuff if the person likes fantasy at all, Ghibli is strong with general appeal. Slice of life and rom-com-y stuff like Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun or Kare Kano is also an easier in.

Alternatively, play into her interests. I don't think Evangelion is typically a good intro anime, but my bf enjoys dramas/thrillers with some action, so I also got him to watch NGE, which he was super into until, you know, the end where shit gets real weird, real quick. You ought to know what she likes, so go from there. I have no suggestions for the anime equivalent of Regular Show (I don't get the appeal of RS anyway), so good luck there.

Avoid spastic animation. Avoid titties everywhere and harem series. Avoid shit that just screams anime.

If they like Regular Show, you could try something like Cromartie High School. It is a little thick with japan references, but it's fucking hilarious, and has a similar "normal to absurdity" style that they might like. The style is also not very "anime"

When I first started with cosplay my Mum was kinda weirded out by it and told me I could only have one wig and one costume and thats it, then eventually she allowed me to do more but not cos guys, now she allows everything, likes my cosplay page, and gets really excited whenever I post something and shares it to her fb. It was a little embarassing at first but shes just proud.

With lolita is where my Mum stumbled to grasp it at first, she thuoght it was a costume but as soon as she got the hang of lolita being "real" clothes she would point out rockabilly dresses saying they were lolita... If it makes you feel better, babies are sturdier than some people give them credit for. You have to be careful, but you probably won't hurt one by holding them.

With that said, it's really disrespectful for a stranger to shove their child onto you without permission. Also the thought of a tiny newborn who just wants to eat and sleep and be held being forced to wander a noisy convention and breathe in all sorts of germs makes me cringe. The worst case thus far being at some party and I was around 16. There were other teens there and a cousin tried to get me to hook up with one of them because they also used the internet often and she asked (forced) us to swap "internet names."

My experience with fursuiters is the same, at least with the ones that look like inbred Disney mistakes. Lots of completely socially unacceptable behaviour (screaming, knocking shit over, knocking people over, hugging people and children without permission) I guess because they know they're practically anonymous inside those suits. The ones who create really beautiful suits from movies etc. tend to be cool, though.

>"This looks beautiful, thank-you so much!"

>"Oh, uh, well, this is actually for a ten-year-old, and as I'm in my mid-twenties, I don't think it's going to fit."
>"Put it on! Put it on!" The entire family slowly joins in the chant.
>"No thanks, it's way too small."

We weren't together the entire con because different panels, but I prefer the freedom of being able to run off at a moment's notice to talk to someone cosplaying a niche series that very few people could even recognize.

Also, I will act differently depending if I'm around someone I know or not. There are a lot of things I simply wont say because I consider a friend's beliefs and feelings. When solo, I don't feel (for lack of a better comparison) chained down.

She literally found out she was being drugged, and when the drugs didn't work, she was all "you can have a go at me anyway."

So, I'm male, and I know that type of statement will get me lynched some places, but bare with me.

I generally never understand a lot of the fuss about women being treated like objects. I play vidya and there's a lot of complaining about that type of thing. I tend not to put much stake in the claims about how often women get sexually harassed in public and stuff because, eh, I don't do it and I never see it.

Then I hear stories like this and I'm reminded that I live in a world where people are blisteringly stupid, and will do stuff like flip up someone's skirt and not expect that person to be mad.

I had a druggie friend for a short time in high school who would lift my skirt like that in the hallway or while we were out at the mall or whatever. I guess petticoats are just super amusing when you're high? She'd walk behind me and poof it up or pet it, which kind of made it look like she was kneading my butt but hey excessive poof means i can't feel it half the time.

My grandmother does this all the time. Comes scooting up in her electric wheelchair, lifts up my skirt as far as she can manage (which is pretty far, actually) and yells out "you're wearing a petticoat! Did you know I used to wear petticoats when I was your age?" The first time it was almost cute in an aww granny sort of way. The dozen or so times after that it was pretty annoying.
One time she did this while we were in a restaurant and I was being so careful with my skirt but she ended up dipping it into a bowl of tomato soup when she dropped it. Somehow this was my fault.

She's not even suffering from dementia or anything like that, she's just at that age where some people stop giving a fuck about anyone other than themselves. If I ask her to please not lift up my clothing she sneers and scoots away.

Ads and video quality, largely. Crunchyroll is certainly better than random sketchy streaming sites, but considering how easy it is to torrent anime, it's kinda outclassed (especially for currently-airing shit, since CR puts each new episode behind a paywall for a week).

That's really it? Pff, I've worked as a cameraman and editor using broadcast-quality raw high end video... And I still couldn't be bothered to pirate for HQ.
