NOOOOOOOOOOO. As someone with both D cup boobs and a general style that's migrated away from true lolita, this is an epic disappointment. I desperately wanted this as a skirt for more otome-ish coordinates and a more flattering fit.

Hope this is more relevant here than in the help thread. I have a big meet in about two weeks and I want to wear this new JSK, I'm going for a dark classic look, it's floral on black.
I don't have a blouse that matches currently, but the JSK has a bib and a Peter Pan collar so I think it'd look good with a shawl maybe, or some sort of bolero or cardigan?
Anyway, my point is where should I look for something that won't make my wallet cry and isn't too normie? Have you guys had more luck with stuff like this in vintage boutiques or something similar? I have coorded with outwear yet and I'm scared to fuck up. I'd order online but I need it to get here in time.

In situations like this I sketch out ideas of what could look nice, like draw the jsk+ bolero and jsk+shawl to get a basic idea, and then I start to hit thrift and vintage stores. I live in a big city, though, so finding classic-suitable blouses, shawls and cardigans is much easier for me than it is most places. I've been wondering, how realistic is it for a beginner to be able to pull off two different styles? I'm in love with those beautiful gothic/classic-gothic(?) prints and dresses like pic related, but I already have quite a bit of sweet going on in my wardrobe which would make it much easier to coordinate new pieces (and it's also a style that's really fun and I really enjoy). I just sometimes would like to wear something darker and more sophisticated, elegant looking, but it feels like at this point it would be too hard to delve into another sub-style.

The tea is in no way affiliated with Otakon. It's an event that she hosts that just so happens to coincide date wise with the convention. I have no idea if she does anything at Connecticon tea party wise, I've never gone to that con. I am in the DC area and down here we tend to have some kind of Lolita luncheon or tea on the Saturday of the con that is hosted by someone else and isn't at all affiliated with the convention.

Quite, especially if you're very selective about coordinating pieces like blouses and shoes. If yo're predominantly sweet, but want a couple of darker outfits, you really only need one black blouse, one pair of black shoes and 2-3 each of legwear and hair accessories to be able to go with a lot of gothic and dark classic pieces, and you could get that for under $200. Basically, if it's only going to be a sometimes thing there's no need to get too much stuff so it's really quite simple then if you find you like wearing the darker stuff you can build on that already solid base.

The store-specific Happy Packs are usually blind packs of leftover items that didn't sell well. The ones with clothing in them are completely blind, it's your luck if you get a dress with no shirring that doesn't fit your size.

They rarely offer Size 3 sizing, and with a dress that uses so much fabric, I doubt they will offer it, unless they increase the price for the larger sizes.
Custom sizing is also depending on the item number iirc, they don't offer it for every release. And if they offer it, they only accept small adjustments (+/- 2-3cm off the original sizing).

I had a binder for cosplay purposes but somehow it never occurred to me to try it with lolita. I tried today, and holy shit all my AP dresses look 100x better on me now.
Time to chop off my boobs, looks like I won't be needing them. My bust measurement isn't even that big, but being near flat definitely looks better.

1. wait until you are in the airconditioned con center to put on a wig. It's fine if you look a little derpy outside, the important part is being comfortable and not overheating
2. have little spray mist bottles or fans. You might feel dumb using them but they're a real relief in hot weather
3. use a parasol or umbrella, the less sun hitting your head, the less hot you'll feel
4. bring the bag the wig came in if you really need to rip it off at some point, on that note bring a comb, extra pins etc
5. drink lots of water! Also if you have little ice packs that you can keep on hand putting them on the back of your neck = pure heaven in a too-hot wig

Just got it in the mail about a week ago and wrote a small review on one of the threads here.
Anyways, it's pretty nice. Has good buttons and lace. Fabric quality is meh... I got it to make a quick sailor lolita coord for a water war event so I was looking for a dress I wouldn't mind ruining but the fabric is polyester so I doubt that the water will ruin it. Will be hell to wear in the hear though.
No stretch at all so if you don't fit the measurements don't even think about it.
Headbow is derpy, personally I cut it off the band and will be using it as a normal bow.

I anyone else having trouble uploading images to Lacemarket? I keep getting 'invalid file' errors no matter what I try to upload. Sometimes they go through, but as broken images. I have a friend who's kind of a cosplay whore who wants to get into lolita. She has some really awful pictures all over her Facebook, but isn't really a known face or anything.

Is it wrong of me to want her to tone it down before joining the comm? I have no issue with people being sexual, but I'm afraid of her being ripped apart by some people in our local comm or even here. Some of them have not been too nice about it, so this is the basis for my worrying.

I just think what makes a lolita popular and a cosfamous type popular are two entirely different things. I just don't want to see her do a sexual approach to lolita. Her current cosplay style is doing uncomfortable sexy shots in con bedrooms. I don't think that'd translate well into lolita.

A very hard box in my check-in luggage. Make sure it's hard enough to withstand being knocked or kicked around. Put the bonnet inside, then stuff a few small, soft things around it -- your undies, socks, camisoles, blouses, hankerchiefs, overskirts, detachable sleeves, as long as it's soft and rolls up small, use it to pad out the empty space around bonnet so the bonnet itself has no space to move around in the box. You can scrunch up cooking foil to cover the flowers if you're worried about a stray sock hitting them and squishing them, usually padding the areas of the bonet without flowers should be enough to keep the bonnet stationery though.

Then tie the box up extra securely to make sure it doesn't open during transit, put it in your luggage.

I've bought an aatp intterfaced bonnet with a velvet flower. It came in a box, wrapped in bubble wrap and taped a piece of cardboard that was in turn taped to the bottom of the box, so that no matter how the box was turned, the flower side basically faced air inside the box and would not be squashed.

Not really shoddy per se, but they could be done a little better.

I have a 58cm unstretched, and a 67cm waist. It'll stretch, but unless you wear a corset underneath as a stiff barrier the waistband will dig into your torso.

Also, is there anything I can do to tighten a JSK with full back shirring? I have one coming in and I'm worried it'll be too loose on me.

Personally all the payment plans I've ever done (as a buyer and a seller) are 20-25% non-refundable first payment and invoiced/normal payment installments after that at an agreed-upon amount and pace, with shipping tacked onto the final one (if not divided into them already). Of course you wouldn't ship out until the last payment is received, so it's silly that your buyer would be asking for the tracking number now, if I'm reading correctly.

They're still just as bad, imo. Personally I would say 64cm is the comfortable max of a lot of the IW skirts I have that range between 2007-2012ish. You should be ok I think, but be aware you'll be on the upper cusp.

Yeah, I hear you. I know a few skirts in the past have been made with size L versions that can fit a 66-68 cm waist (at least?), I wish they would do those more often.

Actually a different question about IW, but do they cancel your order if you try to order when the items have gone up on the Japanese side but before they're uploaded to English side? I don't mean to VIP's but to the normal Japanese site.
