Fairy kei can definitely get a little crazy, but if you look at the fairy kei general you'll see more toned down styles. Larme kei is pretty toned down and you can get away with sticking to pastels too.

Larme kei is really just cute clothes. The style is meant to be open to interpretation as to allow it to evolve with street trends. Larme kei can be himekaji, otome, lolita, etc. so long as it has the feeling of "larme", which is a dolly type of feeling with lots of frills and delicate girliness.
The reason why there is so much variety in here is because larme is based on just street trends. So long as something is trendy, it can be fit into larme through some way. That allows larme to have a large audience, since it's so open to interpretation.

Sadly accurate. Larme has a lot of basics outfits, which are basically HM and F21 styled items, which ironically are sometimes influenced by other jfashions. Because it has a lot of basic cuts and few defining prints, it's very easy to confine it to a certain type of wearer as an attempt to define the style.

Don't listen to the other anon, you can totally pull it off. Just remember the makeup styling really makes a lot of difference. Doesn't have to be anything but special, just make sure it looks fresh and youthful. I would suggest NOT going by most Western tutorials since they over emphasize contouring which just makes you look more mature (at least the way I've seen most makeup gurus do it). There's usually a makeup thread on here with Japanese magazine tutorials, just pick any of those.

Depends on your actual proportions, I think. If you are short and short-waisted with a big chest, it's going to make you look stumpy and top-heavy. If you have a longer waist and long legs, it might look ok. OP photo is not flat chested at all but bigger than that might not look so good for this style, I think.

They were from mon lily but from A/W last year. No sign of them in the web shop which is why several people have said to read the magazine to keep up. This is faster fashion than Lolita with no resale market yet. It looks like releases are seasonal then cleared out at season end like regular fashion rather than periodic release by set/print.

Swankiss and mon lily brands go with gyaru sizing so even most average westerners will find it smaller/shorter and if you have big feets? Forget it. I saw some JC Lita (or knock-offs) and RHS in the magazine photos and plenty of platform sandals and regular pumps or T-straps and high heeled Mary Janes.

Im gonna have to disagree with you guys about this. Ive looked through F21, h&m, and some other western brands several times in the past couple months and havent found very much that gives a larme kei feel.
Right now the 70s, minimalism, and boho are trending in the west so you're not gonna find alot of sweet girly stuff right now. Also silhouettes are either really tight or really loose. Larme style clothing also has little details you wont find over here, such as ruffles, bows, cutesy prints, etc.

More boobs were showing because the halter top is more bare, less Larme. The larger boobs should call for a bit more modest styling, if anything, to achieve the same look. OP photo has larger visible bust but the styling is very different.
Casual can still be 'polished'. I still maintain they are very different and Slums girl looks messy and does not represent a good Larme example in either picture.

Most of us will not look like slender Japanese girls. Larme casuzl will still have detail, finished edges, makeup and styling that is put together but made to appear effortlessly casual. That's part of the charm. It's kind of like 'no makeup mskeup', having a full face on but appearing to not be made up much at all. What appear to be casually thrown together elements in Larme are actually a carefully balanced styling. That's part of the appeal. (And the challenge to do it well)
