I would say the staff and organisers are cunts and dont deserve the money but also that it's a shit boring event compared to other cons plus it's now the most expensive of the Irish conventions. Annnd bonus points for having the worse trade hall of any convention, usually full of knockoffs and shitty local shops you can visit in Dublin city center.

Well Arcade Con staff keep reporting posts which keeps getting people banned, so anyone with a valid reason for not wanting to attend is silenced. We have already established them using copyrighted images for promotion, evidence of them trolling Nom Con and one of their staff coming on here calling people out and naming their self and position. It's common sense that them having a big Cosplay is consent logo which hyperlinks to an article was over dramatic. Declan talked for 3 hours at the last Arcade Con closing ceremony and most of the con centered around him, even people who like AC don't like Declan, he's self centered and ignorant. I can back this up too.

First and only time I went to Arcade was the year before last. I had a good time, but that was pretty much entirely due to friends, and this one guy we were chatting to for ages.

That year was the one where the hotel had the heating on, during a heatwave, in a packed and not very spacious venue.

It was the year Professor Elemental was there and said he wouldn't go again because the staff/committee did not treat him very well, or so I hear.

The charity auction was literally in the middle of the closing ceremony, and they basically pressured the crowd into bidding on that TARDIS wardrobe to drive up the price, even though it was clear people didn't really want to bid against the girl who won. Ended up costing the poor girl something like €200 more than was really necessary. Charity or not, that really wasn't cool.

The other con announcements were after this long-as-fuck auction, so to hear any of them (or make any of them, as a few friends were waiting to do), you had to sit through that fucking shambles after spending like half an hour, to an hour, listening to Declan gobshiting.

Plus, the fucking room was a furnace. The only saving grace there was that they sent people around with water.

You could say that about pretty much every con in Ireland. They're all organised by weebs as far as I know. I've been to nom most years. First year set a bar for cons in Ireland at the time but sebsequent years fell shorter and shorter. Forth year looked terrible so didn't go but heard was crap. Last year however was probably their best in years even with parts of the venue flooding. Organisation was much more professional and hoping this year follows suit.

So what's the deal with Belfast batman? Does he actually think he's batman or is he trying to get "cosplay famous" with just one costume? What's his deal?

The good thing about Nom is that their committee seems to be fairly stable, as in it's the same group of people running it every year. This is good cause they learn from their previous mistakes and know what to fix for the next year. It can also be bad cause some of them are useless/bad personalities and just stick around trying to hog the glory.

Apart from the more senior positions on the Eirtakon committee, they seem to have a fairly high turnover which can be bad cause positions keep getting new people who don't have the experience of doing that position previously. It's also good though cause it brings in fresh ideas and new perspectives.

Nom Con is run by a fairly small committee though - like maybe 8-10? Eirtakon's is massive going by their website.
