Didn't see one in the catalog

So I start working for a pizza place and ever since I've been breaking out like crazy because of the cornmeal we use to stretch the dough. Like every girl on staff complains about it because we're all pizza-faced pizza makers because of it. I keep getting these like...patches of dryness and blackheads.

Any suggestions on how to combat it/update my routine? Product recommendations that'll help protect my skin from the stupid cornmeal? Like should I change/add any cleansers or acne treatments/masks to my routine?

>> No.8384487

Consider this crazy but I started putting on makeup after getting breakouts when working at McDonald's, and the layer of makeup must have acted like a barrier from the steaming oil or something because it reduced my acne.

That's all I got, sorry.

Yeah OP it 404'd, I was following it.

I'm the morning routine anon. Started doing this:

> wash with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
> tone with Neutrogena Deep Clean Energising
> Renew Vitale anti-aging on eyelids and dark circles
> Nivea Soft moisturiser

Got huge painful breakouts and even more oil the week after. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm at a loss.

The more I use the neutrogena oil free wash, the more I think it was designed to break us out due to it not dissolving away the dirt and stuff.
I'm going to try a blackhead dissolving scrub instead and see if that works better. The citrus scrub helped with my normal acne but I have huge pores... Also could be your moisturizer. I know after I use some I get a few problem areas myself.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for combination skin? There are areas of my face that are dry from high winds but some that are super oily all the time. I barely use moisturizer because I break out so bad afterwards, I need a gentle one but I haven't found the right thing... help?

I tend to only use asian masks in winter, when my skin needs some serious therapy. I only used one though, waiting until it was a crisis and it brought my skin back to it's oily self. I think frequency has a lot to do with it, but I'm still longing for something to put on my bridge more frequently. I usually use olay regen. but only when I feel like a snake, otherwise I busy myself with taking oil out.

I posed this in the makeup thread but I used to have a terribly greasy face that also was incredibly flaky until I took a step back from being so harsh on it all the time. Just like over-washing my hair made it greasier daily, over-washing my face is the same.

I really love Clinique moisturizers. I would talk to a counter lady near you and get some samples. I use the Intense Moisture pot but my mom prefers the Dramatically Different one which is lighter. Clinique makes some very gentle products that still deliver.

I also put on a layer of jojoba oil on my face immediately after washing it in the evening and let that sit overnight, then wash in the morning, Clinique moisturizer, then makeup. I think my biggest mistake was not immediately replacing the oil/moisture on my face after stripping it away with harsh scrubbing. I thought oil on my face = gross butterface, but this isn't the case if you blot it and use it more intensely at night. Now my face doesn't go into oily overdrive all day.

I change face washes pretty regularly depending on what I have on hand, right now I'm using the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, been at it for a week and I'm amazed at how moisturized and non-flaky my face has stayed, even around the edges of breakouts where I usually get gargantuan flakes. There are no physical abrasives in the cleanser but it still gently takes dry bits off anyway when I scrub in a circular motion with a clean cotton pad. I usually break out right before my period though and that was recent so my impression of this face wash is probably influenced by the fact that my skin currently looks better overall for other unrelated reasons.

TLDR i swear by clinique moisturizers

You're overwashing your face and in turn it is creating too much oil to compensate. Switch to a mild cleaner like cetaphil/cerave/or an equivalent. If your face wash has suds it is too harsh, it should not strip your face of everything. Ditch the toner and anti-aging cream, that stuff is complete garbage. Use a light moisturizer during the day WITH SPF, that's how you stay looking young not anti-aging cream.

If you really insist on using toner, use diluted tea tree oil. It is an astringent and somewhat anti-bacterial.

Also, I'm very interested in Korean cosmetics but I'm sure they'd mess up my face with the track record I have. Some people swear by them though so it has me curious, plus the packaging is so cute. I just got a sensitive formula facial cleanser from that Simple brand. Gonna see how that works for my skin.

The only thing is that having a lot of oil or moisturizer on your face at night makes it extra essential that you change your pillowcase often and wash them thoroughly.

But yeah until I started the oil thing, not once had I ever awoken and looked in the mirror and thought to describe my skin as "glowing" right out of bed. Now that happens pretty regularly. Feels good!

I get the oil in a bottle from Trader Joes and since I only use about 5 or 6 drops at a time, it's lasting forever.

does anyone here lighten their skin? i naturally have very pale skin, but i have neglected to put sunblock on this season until about a week ago. my fingers are so tan compared to the rest of myself, and now i'm getting freckles. some of the products i use are supposed to lighten/brighten skin, but i don't know how effective they are. i'm upping my vitamin c intake and bought glutathione pills as well as likas papaya soap. i'm not expecting to become paler, but i want my skin to be the tone that the majority of my body and face is.

also, what do my fellow seagulls do for non-facial skincare. i pretty much just moisturize with cetaphil after showers. should i be doing something else?

i posted it in the last thread, but this is my current routine:
1. generic walmart oil cleanser
2. cold water (i need to buy a cleanser)
3. secret key snail toner
4. benton snail essence
5. skinfood tomato emulsion. i love this.
6. clinque all about eyes eye cream
7. cetaphil
8. some neutrogena facial sunblock during the day along with the tony moly panda cooling eye stick and holika holika honey sleeping pack at night

for my non daily things, i really need to organize when i do things and do them weekly or biweekly. i'm good with exfoliating twice a week, but i don't do anything else consistently.
1. etude house kissable lip exfoliating scrub
2. the faceshop black sugar honey scrub
3. the faceshop white peeling jewel face mask
4. a bunch of sheet masks
5. mizon snail eye cream (i need to buy more)

The idea from oil cleanser blogs I've read is that you wash off the oil & dirt that's been sitting on your face all day with your cleanser, and then replace it with clean oil. If you don't replace it then your skin can go nuts trying to make more to compensate and/or dry out. So you start working with your skin which should have some level of natural oils on it instead of against your skin and trying to keep all oil off all the time, and this results in your skin calming down and making it less irritated & producing less oil over the day on its own.

You can do a facial with it by leaning over a steamy pot of water to open your pores and massaging the oil, it can emulsify the stuff in your pores so it washes out!

Another effect is that I find using oil is more effective at getting all traces of makeup and sunscreen off gently because pretty much all cosmetics are oil-soluble, so EVERYTHING will come off and I don't have to be so rough with scrubbing my skin, which results in fewer flakes. I use grapeseed and jojoba oil together as a first step of makeup removal after cosplay, for which I use Ben Nye theatrical foundation all day long which is pretty harsh.

That's my no-citations impression of what's going on anyway?

Missed your second post, haha. Glad I sort of made sense.

Jojoba oil has just turned out to be a miracle ingredient for me in general... I went to Australia a couple years ago (during Aussie winter), and I must have been allergic to something in the air because my normally decent-to-dry (at that time) skin suddenly started almost literally falling off almost in chunks after just hours after washing it in the morning, I was miserable and uncomfortable. Someone I was travelling with offered to put some drops of jojoba oil in the same moisturizer I was already using and the issue stopped overnight. YMMV but I guess it does fantastic things for my skin chemistry in particular.

Oil cleansing is meant to, for lack of a better term, break up the makeup, dirt, and oil that are already on your face in a gentle way while moisturizing. It's also great at breaking up blackheads. Korean cleansing oils are meant to rinse off easily and cleanly, but most people follow up with a second cleanser to get rid of any lingering makeup.

Anyone looking to get into a routine should really read http://skinandtonics.com/asian-skin-care-guide/ It's a really well-researched blog, and she does a great job explaining things. There's also an entire subreddit dedicated to the topic of Asian beauty methods (r/asianbeauty) that you can check out. Been researching a ton trying to figure out what products I should go with, and the sub has been really helpful.

Sorry OP, but you're kind of screwed if you work baking pizzas. I used to work in an automotive store and I was handling greasy things all day which in turn made my face a shiny greasy acne prone mess. I kept some face wipes on me to use periodically because of how shiny and oily my skin got.

Like the other anon said, you can try a protective layer of makeup, but I'm assuming the kitchen in a pizzaria is going to be hot and make you sweaty so the best you can do is up your routine to compensate. Try oil cleansing, attempt to trick your skin into producing less oil that way. Use aloe vera as your moisturizer as I've found that to work best with oil skin to keep it hydrated without making me a disgusting mess. Try and drink a lot of water when you're working too to keep yourself hydrated. You could also try pic related, whether or not you decide to wear makeup over it shouldn't matter, but it's like a protective coating on your skin to help block oils and keep the shine down. Sephora also makes a good oil-control mattifier in their "Murad" brand. Hope that helps.

I used to have a lot of acne, really all over to the point that my parents thought it was a medical condition, but like half a year ago it disappeared completely on its own for some reason.

The issue is that now I have really...old looking skin. said, lemon and pearl face mask is great. Also vitamin E oil, just dab it over the spots with a qtip and let it dry, it helps so much with acne scarring.

Also you said your skin looks kind of dead, it may be a nutrient thing if you don't ever go outside. Look into taking some vitamin supplements (let alone just going outside for 15-20 minutes a day. Free vitamin d)
Things to look for:
>Vitamin C
>Biotin (it's a prenatal vitamin. Can also help with hair growth, but it also breaks some people out)
>Vitamin D supplements (about 10,000ius a day)
>Vitamin E (it helps with healing)

Drink water, keep hydrated, that alone helps a lot. Also I found something to help with my skin (and digestive health) was drinking Apple Cider Vinegar each day. Look up "apple cider vinegar for acne", you drink about a tablespoon in a glass of water like twice a day and it honestly just helps with everything and it gives a little boost of energy too.

Recently I've been cooking rice & tofu. It's not the greatest diet but expanding it is hard as fuck due to me not being able to eat most things. Drinks are usually stuff I get cheap, maybe a soda, glucose drinks, sometimes bottled water.

Even with a diet like that, I'm still thin. Idk how though.

start moisturizing for sure! if all you're doing is cleansing, you are drying out your face which is just making your skin create more oil, acne, etc. Every morning and night you should be moisturizing! Also try to get BHA chemical exfoliant (if your skin is sensitive try an AHA, but BHA is better for acne prone and oily skin). Do not use a physical exfoliant, like a scrub with bits and pieces of fruit and shit in it, all those do is fuck up your skin more.

I think that would be a good start for you. I don't know much about acne prone and oily skin but I know those are the basics that EVERYONE needs. Also check out the skincareaddiction subreddit, it is super useful and has a lot more reliable info than people here on cgl tbh.

Help me work out a routine /cgl/, I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing.

I've been oil-cleansing using baby oil (I should probably use mineral oil, but I've been doing this for awhile and haven't noticed any breakouts from it), and just recently I got the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, Stridex Max Strength Pads, and Thayer's Rose-Scented Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Toner.

So I know I should cleanse first, but then do I use BOTH the Stridex Pads and the Masque, or do I use the Pads everyday and do the Masque once or twice a week? Should I also be using the toner after?

I still need to buy a good moisturiser but I haven't found one that works for me yet, so far everything just makes me super greasy (I have combination skin).

Sorry for this post being so long, but my last problem is I've been getting dry undereyes and I can't work out why. Is that and red patches just off the sides underneath my nostrils signs of a hayfever type thing?

>> No.8393486

>>8390132
You say you just cleanse your face and dry it off. The reason why your skin is so oily is because you're not necesarily stripping it of its natural oils, but you are washing them off. You need to use a moisturiser, anon. The whole point of them is you use it after you wash your face to help replenish the moisture in your skin, so it does not work doubletime to replace the oils that are suddenly missing. My suggestion would be to pick up a moisturizer (Cetaphil and Aloe Vera gel are pretty basic ones) and start using it daily in your morning and night routines.

Another suggestion would be to do a full routine if you want your skin to look better. A full routine is cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. It's pretty much just one extra step you do before you put on your moisturizer, it helps balance your skin's pH and rejuvinates it a bit. A pretty basic one if would be witch hazel, which you can pick up at your local pharmacy or vitamin specialy stop. I reccomend the Thayer's brand because it is alcohol free so it won't be drying. A favorite of theirs in this thread are the rose petal and lavender ones. Check them out online if you'd like.

Also, like the other anon said, you need to cut the sugary drinks from your diet. Water, tea, and juice are fine, but mainly drink pleanty of water. Your acne could honeslty just be a result of you drinking too much soda. Also idk what exactly is wrong that you are not eating, but you NEED to correct your diet. There is no "quick fix" overnight miracle cure for acne. It's a balancing act, and that includes correcting bad habbits. You seem to eat a lot of pasta and pizza, food with a lot of carbohydrates and gluten. Gluten can also be a contributing factor to sudden breakouts. Start adding fruits and veggies to what you eat. I'm guessing you are a vegitarian because you mentioned tofu, which is cool. But a thing to look out for being vegitarian or vegan is getting enough nutrients. Start taking supplements.

Usually it's twice, once in the morning to prep yourself for the day and get those dead layers of skin that can pop up over night, and once at night to get all the gunk and makeup from the day off.
Now, some people have super sensitive skin and can only wash it once a day, but the norm is pretty much twice. As long as you don't use super stripping products that wreck your skin you're fine.

I finished a dose a month ago, and it almost completely cleared my face, but my back and shoulders are still dodgy. I was super lucky and had almost no side affects aside from dry skin, but it was nothing that lotion and lipbalm wouldn't cure. The one thing I did have a problem with was muscle pain but my job is very physical so went against the doctor's advice. It actually fixed my hair so I went from having to wash it once a day to once a week, although it's gone back to normal now which I'm really disappointed about.

The advice I would give is to make sure you drink lots of water, apply lip balm regularly and lotion twice a day and don't over exercise.

glycolic acid works for whitening marks/scars. 5-10% is decent if you're scared, but 40-60% is the type of peel that dermatologists use, and works 5x faster for the same price. but be careful, it takes a huge layer of dead cells off within 3 days, so theres definitely a chance that it could cause an acid burn if not neutralized properly. Anon....as a fellow adult who "refused to take manmade chemicals" you need to get over that stigma. If you are 30 and still experiencing adult acne, then the issue you're having isn't something that's easily identifiable. Adult acne can be caused by a multitude of factors, spanning from dairy and gluten intake, lack of certain nutrients due to a modern diet, your immune system, hormonal imbalence, to just having shitty genes. I eventually caved since no natural or herbal remedies were working, saw a dermatologist, and started a treatment that actually worked. Sometimes you luck out with natural stuff, but if it has been years and nothing you are doing seems to be working, then suck it up and seek outside help.

I hope to god you're not an anti-vaxer as well.

Didn't say "natural" was better at all. I CHOOSE to not try accutane, spironolactone, YAZ, etc for personal yet objective reasons.

I work in drug discovery, I know what goes into it (and what doesn't). I know WHY they are sold, and I know what they need and don't need to keep them there. I'd rather fuck around with plant juice than some of that wacky almost-bioidentical-but-not-because-we-want-to-patent-it hormonal roulette. (Ever wonder why they don't put you on bio-identical estrogen for BC? Because it can't be patented)
http://www.healthline.com/health-blogs/hold-that-pause/premarin-premro-bioidentical-hormones

Just as much research and skepticism goes into my looking at naturally sourced compounds vs man-made (for those semantics-anons: using chemistry to make new compounds). Especially if the side effects of one choice is less severe or common than the other (I have high clotting factors, hormonal birth control would be a bad choice due to risk of blood clots).

I already have demonstrated my low progesterone, which is a side effect of estrogen dominance (or cause, depending) and based on research and experience, which leads to androgen imbalance. It may or may not be cause by the xenoestrogens in my diet/exposure**, but I try to limit them as much as possible, so the next step is to try to help my body rebalance, rather than throwing another hormone into the fray. Saw Palmetto seems to enable the body to choose to reduce DHT, which is one of the androgens (that's what is does in men, which there is more research on).

Estrogen triggers Leutenizing hormone release, which is counter-regulated by DHT... so more estrogen means more LH, which makes your body make more DHT to stop the LH.

Anyway, I thought the info could help someone also in similar situations, since it's pretty easy to try for yourself and low-risk (compared to 60% glycolic acid peels up thread).

Not necessarily. Western skincare routines tend to be more drying, focusing on getting rid of acne and anti-wrinkle. I'm talking about the way skincare in those areas is commonly seen and advertised.

Asian skincare has a way bigger focus on moisturizing and hydrating, which shows in the multiple types of hydrating products (milks, serums, essences, emulsions, lotions, etc..)

Regardless, there isn't really too much. Nothing neccesarily bad can come from it, if none of the products break one out.

Raising this question from the dead. I just started tretinoin treatment and it's making my skin peel like crazy. The directions say this is normal, but what can I do to keep my skin from tightening and peeling like this? I'm using tretinoin and a benzoyl peroxide (sp?) treatment once a day for cystic acne. I have skin on the drier side, so I'm using this moisturizer, but it's not helping with the chemical irritation as much as it does with dry skin from cold weather or wind.

I know seagulls have done this kind of treatment before. What does /cgl/ recommend to stop the peeling?

I have one. I just change it when the heads start looking a bit ratty/dingy. It does work out to about 4 months at twice a day useage, but obviously longer if you use it less often. The heads are expensive but they have generic ones that work just as well for like 3 bucks on ebay so if you want to be proactive and change more often, that's an option too.

Anti-wrinkle products themselves are made to moisturise the shit out of your skin unless it's stuff like Retin A, since that's the most important thing in skincare to begin with. People who say Asian skincare > Western skincare have no clue what they're talking about and it's a really easy way to spot the weeaboo. Neither is better or worse, nor is Western skincare in any way harsher. Acne products are the ones most advertised because they tend to sell the best. The reason they sell so well is because people with acne are teenagers, desperate, or both. The West doesn't have much of a skincare culture aside from simple maintenance, sure, but that does NOT mean Western products are inferior. The focus is mainly quality over quantity, and sadly people tend to equate quality with price. People just don't use them as often as they should because there is less of a focus on skincare and more on makeup.
So saying that Asian skincare has a bigger focus on hydrating is untrue, as it has a bigger role in their society in general, which means people are gonna spend more on it and use more of it.

The difference is easiest to spot in the type of products available on both markets. We have way, way more '3 in 1' products whereas Asians tend to have a single product for everything. That's really the main difference. What suits you more is up to you, but neither is better or worse.

I don't know about dupes, but I have used LUSH products pretty extensively. While some of them did not measure up to me expectations (though still worked great) there are a few i absolutely love. The fresh pharmacy soap works wonders on my combination skin and doesn't strip the moisture from my skin. Their coal black soap is a favorite of my bf's, but his skin is more rugged than mine is and it's too rough for every day use for me. The skindrink facial lotion is another favorite, along with the dark angels scrub.
As with anything else, these are my personal experiences. I have absolutely had stuff from there that did not work for me at all and worked amazing for others. It is all about testing what works for you. While they are expensive sometimes, you can get samples of anything you like and get pieces of soap cut (they cut everything by weight like a deli) for $2 and up.

I need help, /cgl/.

So for the past few years I've had some pretty unfortunate skin on my back/arms. They break out a lot, and even without picking they leave some sort of scarring or pigmentation.

I don't break out so bad these days (still fairly often, but mostly on my upper arms rather than my back) but I'm pretty damn secure about the pigmentation it's left. It's given my back a "mottled" sort of appearance. Is there any way I can reduce this pigmentation, or if nothing else, calm the breakouts I get on my back? I hate being insecure about my back....

Also, I seem to have chicken skin on my upper arms, and while I realise this probably isn't something I can do much about, would it be contributing to my breakouts?

I tried using EOS and it just dried my lips out as well as the Nivea chapsticks, and I also found that Vaseline made the skin on my lips so soft that the skin would peel off on its own...but carmax seemed to heal and moisturize I love it. Plus bonus of lots of different flavors cheap as hell.

Anything you can do to improve your diet is great! Definitely don't put it off just because you feel like you have to go all or nothing. I used to have a horrible diet and thought it was okay because I was still stick thin, but I felt so much better in general and had better skin after making a few minor fixes. The two things that really made the biggest difference for me were cutting out soda and adding some veggies. Just take it one step at a time, anything at all will be a good change.

Just adding to this, pore strips are great if you use them for special occasions where you want them gone. It's better not to use it as a regular skin care routine because they can enlarge your pores with excessive use, making the filaments look even worse over time!

But anon is right, they will definitely help make your nose and chin look better, if only temporarily. :)

From experience, your first step would be to stop using the benzoyl peroxide treatment with your tretinoin treatment. That's two acids you're putting on your skin with the intention to dry it out to help treat your acne. Also, you said you have dry skin so that makes it twice as bad. For lotion, try out Aloe Vera gel, since it's soothing on top of moisturizing. I would also reccomend pic related to use as a night cream, it helped me immensely with my peeling and dry patches (helps with eczema as well). I use this with my morning routine and night routine since my skin was so dry, and used aloe vera as my go to moisturizer during the day.

>face picker

iktf.

for me, i have added nice skincare products gradually to my routine. i try to get that shit on my face early in the day, including sunscreen and BB cream. then i am scared to pick because i will mess up my nice and costly (for me) layer of sun protection.

it does not always work but it helps to try to refocus obsessive habits into constructive ones...

also, there is some split in the psychology community over whether to classify skin picking as an impulse control disorder, an OCD type of thing, or an addiction. this classification is important because different reasons for picking will need different treatments. i have read that those who have a more OCD style of picking respond well to SSRIs (antidepressants), but for those in whom it is more like an addiction SSRIs may exacerbate the issue.

but in both types, picking is likely a way to manage stress. try learning some stress reduction techniques and stay away from a mirror if you are worried about anything, have something important you are dreading, etc.

there's no scientific evidence to back up the claim of compensatory oil production that I have found, but if you have any, that would be nice. I understand there is a lot of anecdotal evidence.
However, using a harsh, soapy (alkaline) cleanser can def compromise your skin's barriers against bacteria and also moisture loss, so using gentle and slightly acidic cleansers is a good idea.
Note also that tea-tree oil is also kinda harsh and is not miscible with water, so should be diluted in alcohol (maybe oil instead? Idk if it would work)
Gentle toners are the ones that contain humectant moisturisers like Thayer's and Hada Labo gokujyuun lotion.

Regarding PIH:

It's been discussed a little on leddit's skincare board but i think a lot of (pale white) people don't have PIH, but post-inflammatory erythema instead. It's not to do with melanin, which produces the darker spots, but something about the capillaries under your skin where topical ingredients don't really make a lot of difference. They go away with time or laser therapy but can be helped along by treating your skin very delicately and using wound-care measures like silicone gel.

You might have an older epilator. The new ones are better with fine hair. I'm ginger so naturally not very hairy, I have the newest braun silk epil.

Ingrown hair come from not exfoliating, use those gloves. I wonder how you don't get ingrown hair under your arms? That has been a huge problem for me so I just dry shave there.
I also don't use any product before (just wash my legs) and after epilating.
Also treat ingrown hair like zits on your face. Don't touch and if you have to, use disinfectant. It takes forever to heal if you pick at it..

Don't over exfoliate. No scrubbing, no loofahs, no wash cloths, find a chemical exfoliate and use it once a day at the most. Also never put anything with alcohol on your face.

Wash your face twice a day, morning and night with a gentle facial cleanser, I've had good results with the cetaphil dermacontrol cleanser. It's important to use a facial cleanser and not regular soap. The pH of typical soap or bodywash is too high for your face, a cleanser isn't as harsh.

When washing your face, start with a splash of cold water to 'wake up' your skin, rinse with warm water and your cleanser afterwards, then another splash of cold water as an astringent.

After washing your face, apply a moisturizer that has spf 30 protection, again the cetaphil dermacontrol moisturizer has worked very well for me, but you may use any brand you wish, just do some research.

For extreme cases (or if you work in a pizza place) apply a clindamycin and benzoyal peroxide cream underneath your moisturizer. You may need to see a doctor to get this prescribed, I use something called benzaclin. It should go without saying, but for god's sake don't get this shit too close to your eyes. Wait at least 15 minutes before you moisturize after using the cream. Depending on how dry your skin gets, you may want to only use this once per day, preferably at night.

Avoid stuff with any kind of paraben in it unless you know that you're not allergic. And if you use a lot of make-up, keep your brushes clean.

For guys, stay away from electric shavers. Invest in a good double-edge safety razor and keep it clean. Change your razor blades regularly and find an alcohol-free aftershave.

When in doubt, see a dermatologist.

Literally cannot happen if you use cosmetics meant for your skin type, or any EU/FDA-approved cosmetics, which is most of what they sell in stores, as alcohol use is heavily regulated. You would have known that if you'd actually read the posts the links point to.

i have something that makes me deathly allergic to just about everything, alcohol if consumed or smelt but when in contact with my skin only a rash occurs, even living with over 1000+ severe allergies i have not met a single person that could die from having something like an alcohol wipe or something that contains alcohol to come in contact with their skin.

Hey guys, accutane update here. I'm reaching the end of my third month on it, and I'm currently at 40mg. At my next checkup my derm will decide if I should go up to 60mg or stay at 40. I'm at the point where it's my main problem areas that there must be a lot of junk deep down still coming up. Anyone have any experience with 60mg? I'm pretty comfy with the 40mg but I'm afraid that I'm making things take a longer time than I could be by being cautious. Thoughts?

I just bought this new face wash while I'm on vacation visiting my stepmom in Eastern Europe. I'm absolutely in love with it so far (though after the second week I'll know for sure). The bottle is all in German and Polish and I've never seen it before and I'm absolutely in love with it so far. My jimmies are rustling because I don't know if I can get it back home. Haven't looked into ordering it online because I haven't been thinking that far ahead, but if I can't get it online then I don't know what I'm gonna do.

Partially hoping it makes me break out or get a ridiculous dry patch or rash or SOMETHING so that I don't fall in love with it more.

Yeah man, look up "apple cider vinegar for acne" on youtube, there's a lot of vlog posts about how drinking it every day helped them. My skin is very dry and sensitive. I can't even wash my face with regular soap as it makes my skin so dry and tight it hurts. After I shower I hurry up and moisturize but all moisturizers burn as well - but the burning from the moisturizers is better than the dry skin.

All makeup I've ever tried makes my skin burn like hell but I still torture myself by wearing it as I'm no natural beauty. Whenever I come home from running errands I almost run to the bathroom to wash my face as soon as possible because of the stinging/burning.

I have spent thousands on cosmetics and skin care products through the years, most of them being ''for sensitive skin'' etc. but nothing is comfortable. I have gone to pharmacies and asked for help there, got so many samples of different ''mild'' creams and other types of products but nope.

I'm desperate.

Anon, you shouldn't wash your face with regular soap in the first place. It's bad for your skin and is drying.
Try Cetaphil for sensitive skin for your cleanser, I used that when I was on Accutane and it worked great. If that's still too harsh just use babywipes. Do you have acne problems? Or is your skin just dry?
Moisturiser - Cetaphil lotion or Aloe Vera gel. Try First Aid Repair Cream as a night cream before you go to sleep, that should really help you replenish the moisture in your face. Drink a shitton of water to keep your skin hydrated.

Different anon, but from what I've seen from my mother taking it and what's she's read about it, it seems to be a cure all.

Its super foul tasting, but you can feel it working. Its good to take it when you're sick or if you feel like you're getting sick.

I've heard weight loss is possible, drinking it everyday kick starts your metabolism, or something. I imagine it being like drinking lemon water in the morning. Always worth a try, good luck.

I have problems similar (a genetic disorder) though I've not ever worn makeup because of the fear of this happening.
>and cause im a lazy fuck

I'd honestly go to your GP/doctor ask for a diagnosis. (Skin specialists etc.)
Try and go to a Naturopath or a dietitian/fitness dood anyone who can help you to set you on the right path to lead a healthier life, most of the time with skin related things (I know this from experience) it's internal than the external unless you know you're drowning your face in bleach or whatnot. If you've tried that then I'd recommend going to your local chemist or even just the biggest chemist you can find and ask them to make something for you, some chemists still do make special formula/creams/ointments or even know some private companies who do. I've done it many of times for many different occasions, it is expensive I won't lie even if you want like a 2ml tube it still hurts the wallet. But it's the best to do, I have many creams I use for my basically sandpaper skin that work though they don't have a special name or anything because they are just made at the chemist.
Skin shit things are different for everyone so I don't have much to say that'll help, I'm sorry. Some personal reccomended changes that /might/ help are: Wash your linen/clothes regularly, Avoid acidic and hot/spicy foods, Try exfoliating your skin and starting anew, avoid things with strong fragrances, maybe even get a filter for your shower and just watch what you eat. If no cream reaaaally helps, it helps to know what's going on inside your body, internally. Get a check up or someshit.

If it can help :
I've got really dry skin from eczema. It's greyish, it used to flake a lot and there is marks and spots on it. I have a medical cream for my body and face to help it heal and make sure it's moisturised enough, the cream is basically what they give you after a huge burn. I've been using it for years, and it keep my skin moisturised enough for it to not be so sensitive. When I got into skincare I bought a lot of different products but all left my skin red with a burning feeling or really freacking dry. I started homemaking my face cream at the beginning of the year and my skin def got better. I still have to use the medical cream every other day for profound moisturising but my homemade cream is fitted for my skin on a daily basis. There are website and shops specialised in homemade cosmetics in which one can purchase needed instruments, ingredients and recipe books. I'm lucky there is such a shop in my city, they even give classes about everything you need, basic hygiene and conservation 101 comprised. I'm never gonna praised homemade cosmetics enough. I admit it can look a bit scary, and it takes time and a bit of dedication to get into it but it's pretty rewarding.
I'm so never going back.

i've been using a neutrogena spf 70 face sunblock for my face, hands, and arms. you just have to rub it in well, because while it doesn't smell, it leaves a white-ish cast and sometimes is really thick.

it must be working pretty well. my commute to work is over an hour, and my hands got SUPER tan compared to the rest of me. it was super noticeable and gross. i started using lightening soap in conjunction with sunscreen, and in 3 weeks, my skintone is almost even. it lightened at least 3 shades on my fingers/hands, probably.

Hey guys, quick question. So is it normal for when you're on a treatment for cystic acne, for it to work in stages? Like, I'm much better off now than I was when I first started, but a bunch of acne comes up, the pus drains out, my skin heals over. Then I'm pimple free for a day or two and then more come up, and it just works in a weird cycle like that. It's been a few months since I started and I just want clear skin. I'm guessing this sort of thing is normal, and I'm just going to have to be patient? I mean, my skin looks looks like hyperpigmented applesauce so I guess that means I have a lot of gross yucky build up under it?
